Chapter 32
Nico reminded everyone that they can't duel until they acquire two Pendulum Cards hidden in the city and wager them in duels, and the winner gets the cards, and they'll be ranked by how many cards they have.
"Shun Kurosaki didn't show up, right?" Yuzu asked Yuya as she checked a bush but stopped when she found nothing.
"Yeah, but he's one of the sixteen contestants so maybe he was late?" Yuya said, looking around as well. Yuzu decided that maybe they should split up since they found nothing and they were rivals as well. Yuya nodded and told her to be careful and she said it back and they both split up from each other.
"Let's get the stage ready for the players! Action Field on! I activate the Field Spell Quartet of Quandry!" Nico said, snapping his fingers and the town disappeared into the four different area terrains. When the town changed Yuya found himself in the Volcano area, Yuzu and Gong were in the Iceberg area, Ruri was in the Jungle area while Shun was in the Ancient Ruins. The crowd cheered louder when they saw how vast the duel area became. Nico reminded everyone that the time limit is until tomorrow at noon.
Yuya picked up a card in a crack with a smile knowing that he finally found two cards and now he could either find two more or find an opponent but his decision was literally made for him when he heard screaming and when he looked he saw a young girl on a boulder that was racing right toward the lava. People began panicking since they didn't know if the lava would hurt or not since it was fake but Yuya wasn't waiting to find out. He began running and pulled a card from his deck.
"Go Performapal Momoncarpet!" He said placing the card on his duel disk and a purple flying squirrel appeared with the design of the magic carpet on its back. Yuya jumped on it as it flew towards the girl and when he finally reached her he grabbed her arm and pulled her on his monster and they flew away as the rock finally hit the lava. When Yuya landed and his monster disappeared the crowd began to cheer louder and Yoko beamed with pride as Shuzo began yelling hot blooded and Tatsuya and Ayu cherred and Futoshi said he had the shivers.
"Are you okay?" Yuya asked and began to check the young girl but was surprised to profusely bow to him.
"Asef, asef, asef!" She repeated over and over as Yuya began to panic on how to calm her down. In the audience Yoko began to laugh at the awkward interaction while Shuzo was yelling at Yuya for making the panic girl cry. Tatsuya, Futoshi, and Ayu just ignored them since they probably would be crying too if they almost fell into lava.
After a couple of minutes the young girl stopped crying and was now trying to catch her breath. She looked at him and finally said thank you for saving her and that she was glad someone was here at the right place at the right time.
"Oh no I'm just glad you're okay." Yuya said and then the young girl began to look around leaving him confused.
"What's wrong?" He asked and the young girl told him she only needed one more pendulum card and then she could duel, but when she found one, the rock broke under her. He sweat-dropped, so that explains why she was riding a rock toward the lava. He looked down and saw a Pendulum Card and picked it up. He looked at it then at the young girl who was now standing on a rock trying to see if she could locate a Pendulum Card. She jumped off the rock with a dejected face and then she saw Yuya give her his card.
"Are you sure?" She asked, beginning to reach for the card but also holding back. He told her it was okay since he already had two and she took the card and began to leap around in joy and then she stopped just as quickly as she started shocking him when she turned around with a serious face.
"We both have two Pendulum Cards, You know what that means?" She asked with a big grin and Yuya returned the grin back and the both activated their duel disk.
"The first duel is about to begin in the Volcano Area! It's LDS Exchange student from Aswan Sheba vs You Show School Yuya Sakaki." Nico said and both Yuya and Sheba showed the card they were betting if they lost.
"Duel" They both said to each other starting the duel.

"You can go first-um," Yuya said but then froze when he realized his opponent never said her name. When she saw his confusion she also apologized for not introducing herself. She said her name was Sheba.
"Since I'm first I'll summon The Djinn of Alma Torran, Ugo!" She said summoning her first monster. A huge blue man appeared on her field.
"What's a djinn?" Ayu asked, confused looking at Shuzo.
"It's another way to say genie, but of course his first opponent would use the Alma Torran deck." Shuzo said.
"What do you mean?" Tatsuya asked but was only told to watch and then he would understand. Ayu, Futoshi, and Tatsuya looked at Yuya in worry.
"Next I activate Ugo's effect to draw a card and now since I control one spellcaster I can special summon The Djinn of Alma Torran, Agares from my hand. Also I can draw one card thanks to its effect." she said, summoning a huge blue fox with crocodilian scales as skin.
"What do you think? Are you impressed? Cause I'm not done yet!" She said as she gestured to both monsters that loomed confidently over Yuya. She then grabbed one of the cards in her hand and when Yuya saw what it was he felt the sweat fall from his head.
"I activate polymerization and Fuse The Djinn of Alma Torran, Ugo with The Djinn of Alma Torran, Agares! Hero of lightning release your wrath once again in a flash! Fusion Summon! Behold! Baal The Lighting Djinn of Alma Torran" She said as both her monsters disappeared into a lamp that then exploded when a man with dragon scales all over his body appeared with bat wings that released lighting from them. Everyone was silent when Sheba's monster took the field with Shuzo gaping like a fish. It had an attack of 4000 with a defense of 3000.
"Next Ugo's effect activates! If he is used in a fusion summon my opponent takes 500 points of damage!" She said, Yuya saw Ugo appear next to Baal and then throw a fireball at him, reducing his life points to 3500.
"Wow, that was really hot." He said after recovering from the fireball that hit him wiping sweat from his head.
"Then you'll really be shocked by this because I activate Baal's effect next which allows me to draw a card and if it's a monster I inflict 1000 points of damage to you but if it's a spell or trap card I receive 1000 points of damage. Now let's see who lady luck shines upon!" she said drawing a card and when she looked at it she smiled and Yuya turned pale as he began to run since Baal lifted his arm and then pointed at him and in a flash he was hit by lightning. Ayu covered her eyes, Futoshi said he had the shivers, and Tatsuya was hoping Yuya was okay, while Shuzo was trembling. Yoko had a serious expression on as she watched.
"I place one card face down and end my turn. So did you like my performance?" Sheba asked Yuya with stars in her eyes waiting for some feedback.

"Yeah, it was really shocking but now It's my turn! Draw!" He said drawing from his deck and when he looked at his card he smiled.
"I set the Pendulum Scale with Scale 1 Performapal Odd-Eyes Swan and Scale 10 Odd-Eyes Pegasus! Swing, pendulum of the soul! Draw an arc of light across the heavens! Pendulum Summon! Appear now with your wondrous and beautiful dichromatic eyes. Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon!" he said, summoning his dragon. When Odd-Eyes took the field it roared at Baal causing him to smirk at the young dragon.
"Next I activate Pegasus's Pendulum Effect and reduce the attack points of Baal by 1000 (Baal's attack went down to 3000) and next I activate Swan's effect and raise Odd-Eyes's attack by 1000 (attack hit 3500) now attack Odd-Eyes Pendulum dragon." Odd-Eyes roared and began to charge at Baal who still smirked and raised his arm when Odd-Eyes let out his attack.
"I activate Impenetrable Attack and chose the option where my monster isn't destroyed in battle, so now Baal is safe." She said and with a bolt of lightning Baal pushed Odd-Eyes away from him but she was hit by some of the fire from Odd-Eyes.
"But you still take damage and the damage is doubled" Yuya said when his monster jumped back right next to him.
"Yuya Onii-San almost had her." Tatsuya said as Baal cracked his neck from stiffness.
"Come on Yuya, get hot blooded!" Shuzo yelled followed by the crowd cheering for Yuya.
"I set one card face down and end my turn." Yuya said, ending his turn and thinking of a strategy to beat Baal.
Iceberg Area
On top of an iceberg Yuzu was looking around for a Pendulum Card but found nothing.
"Ugh… I'm getting cold just watching the snow fall." She said holding her arms only for another voice to say it was hot here. She turned around to see a young boy walking toward her and when he saw her he ran up to her.
"You're Yuzu Hiiragi! I'm Halil from LDS Anatolia! An exchange student in the Fusion Course! Nice to meet you!" he introduced himself so enthusiastically then bowed with Yuzu bowing back saying nice to meet you too.
"You're the Fusion user who defeated Masumi. I want to duel you!" He said.
"That's fine, but I don't have a second Pendulum Card yet." She told him only for Halil to tell her he found three Pendulum cards and gave her one. Then with confidence they both got into position and showed which cards they were betting.
Volcano Area
Sheba LP: 3000 Hand: 4
Yuya LP: 2500 Hand: 0
"My turn, Draw!" Sheba said drawing a card from her deck and then putting it into her hand and grabbing the card next to it.
"I activate Ancient Rules and summon The Djinn of Alma Torran, Amon!" she said, activating her spell card and summoning a bald, bearded old man with a huge stomach. He put his arm across his chest paying respect to Baal.
"Now I activate Amon's effect which allows me to special summon a monster from the graveyard so come back Ugo!" She said as a vortex of flame appeared next to Amon and Ugo appeared from within the fire and just like he did to Baal Amon He put his arm across his chest paying respect to Ugo who was gesturing that it's okay.
"Now I activate Fusion Substitute and fuse Amon and Ugo! Spread your wings of life and descend upon us in a flame of glory! Fusion Summon! Behold Phenex The Guardian of Alma Torran!" She said, both of her monsters went into a lamp and then from the top of the lamp a woman with long feathery hair appeared with an ornate headdress that resembles the sun on her head, and wearing several necklaces. She had 4000 attack and 4000 defense points.
"Pretty…" Ayu said with Futoshi and Tatsuya nodding as they stared at the monster. The crowd was also silent in awe as they stared at the monster.
"Eh? What's wrong with you Odd-Eyes? Why are you hiding behind me?" Yuya asked as his monster hid its face behind him and every time it looked at Phenex who when she saw it would smile, causing the dragon to hide again.
"I think it's bashful." Sheba said as Odd-Eyes kept hiding behind Yuya.
"But thanks to the fact she was summoned with two fire Attribute monsters, her attack and defense goes up by 2000 now making it 6000." She said and then the awe that Ayu had turned to terror.
"Yuya Onii-San doesn't have a monster strong enough to beat her." Tatsuya said with Futoshi saying he was getting the shivers.
"I activate Baal's effect! You know what that means!" She said as Baal started to gather lightning at the tip of his fingers. Turning pale Yuya jumped on top of Odd-Eyes and began to run. She drew a card and everyone was anxious but when it was revealed to be a monster Yuya got struck by lightning.
"Don't forget Ugo's effect!" She said and then right next to Phenex Ugo threw a fireball and hit Yuya reducing his life points to 1000.
"Battle! Phenex attack Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon!" She said, Phenex brought both hands to her chest and created a fireball and then she blew at it causing it to go straight for Odd-Eyes.
"I activate Draining Shield! Odd-Eyes is protected and I gain life points equal to Phenex's attack points." Yuya said as the fireball was blocked by a shield and Yuya's life points went up to 7000. Phenex looked like she was about to cry but then Baal began to discharge lightning from his body.
"Then I'll attack Odd-Eyes with Baal! Bararaq Inqerad-Saiqa!" She said, then Baal created a lightning sword and then threw it and it pierced Odd-Eyes destroying him sending him flying and reducing his life points to 5500.
"I end my turn. So what did you think?" She asked Yuya who got up coughing from the smoke. He looked at her field and smiled.
"You did really well but now it's my turn and I'm just getting Started! My turn… Draw!" Yuya said and putting his hand on his deck he drew a card getting ready for his next turn.
