When Sam and Kinsey finally got back to their apartment, Cori was reading on the couch, and her brother, Colton, was sitting in his little self claimed corner, working on something for his podcast.

"Hey, where have you been?!" Cori blurted out, in concern. "Kinsey ran out of here in a panic after you!"

"I was concerned!"

"It's okay, Kins." Sam sighed. "Some detective came by the shop after work, I had to go straight from there to answer some questions about the whole Dani thing."

"They don't think you did it, do they?" Cori asked.

"What? After her little run in earlier? Of course they do!"

"Well, hello to you too, Colton." Sam scoffed, directing her next question at Cori. "What is he doing here?"

Cori marked her place in the book she'd been reading and turned around to chuck it at him.

"Ow! That was a hardback!" He whined.

"GOOD!" Cori retorted with a sigh. "He's doing some thing with his podcast. Trust me, I'm not thrilled about it either."

"Why can't he do it at his place?" Kinsey chimed in.

"WiFi's down at my place, I got a guy coming over to look at it." Colton answered.

"Aaaand you couldn't ask Jess, why?" Sam prodded.

"Sheeee is following up on a lead for the podcast." He explained. "Solo."

"Awesome." Sam scoffed. "If anyone needs me, I'll be in mine and Kinsey's room."

"Geez, who pissed in her Froot Loops?" Colton snickered, not looking up again from his laptop, when she was out of earshot.

Kinsey looked to Cori. "Any chance you have something I can hit him with?"

"You know where my book landed." Cori chuckled.

"It'll do." Kinsey sighed, walking over to pick up Cori's book and smack Colton with it on her way to the bedroom.

"Ow!"

Cori just rolled her eyes and got up to go retrieve her book.

"And it's Cheerios, asshole."

She took the book from him and turned to go back to her spot on the couch.

Colton looked up at her with a smirk.

"No one says Froot Loops but you, Froot Loop."

"..and for the 89th time, Cor, Froot Loops are just more fun." Colton chuckled. "If you ever see me with a bowl of Cheerios, I will thank you for pissing in them and replacing them with Froot Loops."

"Ever the adult child." Cori sighed, opening her book back up to where she'd left off.

"I like to think it's one of my more endearing qualities."

"Well, it is why you don't have a girlfriend."

"Don't you mean you like to think that's why I don't have a girlfriend?" Colton chuckled.

"Why would I mean that when I know it?"

"Because I'm your brother and you love me?" He teased.

"Correction. You're my brother and I tolerate you. There's a difference." She turned to the next page in her book. "Now shh!"

"Yes, ma'am." He chuckled.

Meanwhile, Kinsey was cracking the door to their bedroom open to check in on Sam, who was laying stomach down on the bed, methodically scrolling up across her phone screen in front of her.

"Hey." She said gently. "You know that's just Colton being Colton, try not to pay him any attention."

Sam sighed as she looked up at her girlfriend. "I don't care about him, it's just…"

She sighed again. "...I don't know…"

Kinsey sighed as she crossed the room, sitting down quietly next to her on the bed when she reached it.

Sam smiled slightly as she allowed Kinsey to lovingly reach over and start stroking her shoulder.

She sighed again. "You should've seen how that detective was looking at me tonight...it was like…..like she was pitying me, like…...like I would've almost rather her think I might've done it."

"...because then at least there would be a chance it wasn't because of your dads?" Kinsey offered, as if reading her mind.

"Something like that." Sam scoffed. "...I was just starting to get used to there being a little less of that here."

"Can I..ask...like, a really weird question?" Kinsey finally asked.

"Well, considering all I've ever known is weirdness." Sam chuckled. "Knock yourself out."

"Right." Kinsey chuckled nervously.

Kinsey got quiet again before she eventually asked.

"Does it….help...like, at all…...knowing that they really did it?"

Sam shrugged. "...sometimes….." She sighed. "...although, sometimes it just makes it worse….especially on the days I remember what a ginormous idiot I am for not knowing anything til it was quite literally shoved in my face."

"Sam, no one thinks that." Kinsey tried to reassure. "I mean…. there are spouses who live with a killer for years and while they're still killing people, like...a lot of people, and not know anything. Hell, even the cops couldn't get it right…..alright? You have nothing to feel stupid about."

"Right." Sam scoffed. "Dewey and whoever the hell else was working with him on the case. I mean, I love him, no offense, but he's never exactly been the sharpest knife in the drawer."

Kinsey chuckled at that, glancing over at Sam's beloved knife, which was laid on a nearby nightstand. "Yeah, certainly no buck knife, anyway."

"Noooot even close." Sam chuckled.

Kinsey chuckled again as she glanced over at Sam's phone.

"What are you looking at on there, anyway?"

"Just checking out what people are saying about Seth and that fucking costume." Sam scoffed.

"Geez, people are brutal!" She remarked, looking over Sam's shoulder at some of the tweets on her phone.

"Believe me, I've heard and seen worse."

"Right." Kinsey sighed.

Kinsey had just laid down and gotten comfortable next to Sam, when Asami suddenly started barking loudly from the other room, followed by Cori shouting, "I got it!"

Sam shot up and practically sprung off the bed and towards the door, anyway, followed by a considerably concerned Kinsey.

Sam and Kinsey became slightly more relaxed, when they ran out and saw Seth walking in the door.

"Hey, yeah, it's me! Don't shoot!' He chuckled, leaning down to greet Asami when she decided he was worthy of a greeting and trotted over to sniff him. "Hey, bud! What's up?"

Asami wagged her tail happily, eagerly accepting the pats and ear scratches he was giving her.

"That's a terrible reason not to shoot you." Sam teased with a snicker. "You're lucky Asami likes you."

"And that you're cute." Cori added with a snicker.

Seth shot her a smirk when we turned to look at her. "Reeaally?"

"Yeah, but don't get too excited." Sam chuckled. "She says the same about my dad."

"A, you weren't supposed to hear that. And B, I'm not wrong!" Cori tried to defend.

"Is it Billy? Cause I see the vision." Seth added.

"SETH!" Kinsey shouted.

"DUDE!" Sam shouted almost in unison.

"Right?" Cori chuckled.

"Objectively, yes!" Seth confirmed.

"Riiiight. I have a buck knife by my bed, you know." Sam pointed out.

"Aaand with that, I'm going back to my book." Cori chuckled, turning back to head for the couch.

"As I thought." Sam chuckled, shooting her a smirk before returning her attention to Seth. "So, to what do we owe his displeasure, exactly?"

"Just..wanted to come by and check in on you guys." He answered genuinely. "Kinsey mentioned the thing with the detective earlier, you okay?"

"Never better." Sam sighed, smiling slightly at the thought. "..but, thanks."

"Don't mention it."

"And…?" Kinsey asked. "I know you didnt come all the way over to do that."

"Yeah, well Sam doesn't really like the phone much these days, understandably." He pointed out. "..and FaceTime's not really my thing."

"Uh huh…." Kinsey teased.

"...Alright, and I was wondering if I could crash at your place for a while." He chuckled. "I don't really wanna be alone over there, after what happened, plus, a lot of the fuckheads in my building aren't exactly immune to all the shit that's going around online."

"Aaand, there it is!" Kinsey teased with a little smirk.

"Ohh, lay off him for once." Sam teased. "...keyword, once though, Seth."

"I will take what I can get." Seth chuckled.

Sam shot him another smirk at that and nodded toward the living area.

"You can take the couch for a while." She offered.

"The couch sounds great!" He chuckled. "Thanks, I knew you'd understand."

Sam nodded, glancing behind him. "Do you...wanna go grab your things? Or…?"

"Right." He chuckled, noting Sam's confusion. "I got an overnight bag of stuff in the truck, thought I'd bring it just in case."

"I see." Sam chuckled, glancing behind her. "Colton, you wanna go help him with that?"

"Still busy!" Colton called over from his corner, not looking up from his laptop.

"Yeah, well I'm sick of the sight of ya!" Sam scoffed. "Now, go make yourself useful!"

"That's alright, I can get it myself." Seth chuckled. "But thanks."

"I never offered!" Colton called back.

"Wasn't talking to you, Asswipe!" Sam called back to him.

"And weren't you supposed to be done with all that, like a half hour ago?" Cori added.

"Can't rush perfection, Cori!" He retorted.

"Good thing I'm only rushing my dumbass brother!" Cori retorted. "Now, finish up."

Colton just rolled his eyes.

"You know what, why don't you go beg for your precious WiFi a couple doors over? I'm sure your little fan girl over there would be thrilled." Sam chimed back in

"And how do I know you're not just trying to get rid of me again?"

"She's cute and blonde with a nice little wolf cut, and last I saw her come out of her apartment, I'm pretty sure she was wearing one of your second rate, wanna be, merch shirts you thought it was a good idea to start selling."

This got him to look up from his laptop. "Reeeaally?"

"Yes, I distinctly remember it because I thought she was wearing it for a dare."

Sam scoffed. "Believe me, you think I would ever pawn you off on some poor girl if I didn't think she at lease might be into humoring you?"

"Alright, bet." Colton scoffed, picking up his laptop and some other things from his corner and heading for the door. "I know when I'm not wanted."

"If you actually did, it would be a first." Sam scoffed, not hesitating even for a second to shut the door behind him.

Seth just chuckled as he watched him leave and looked back at Sam.

"Tell you later." She sighed. "Just go get your things before I change my mind."

"Right, on it!"
