AN: short i know but i wanted to get it posted. More coming later this week
When they arrived at the castle, Sadie was pulled aside by Madame Pomphrey and her head of House. Professor Slughorn was dabbing his forehead with an ornate handkerchief more than usual, but he was a quirky man, Sadie had found.
"Miss. Snape, your mother owled ahead about your…situation. For now you will placed with the other girls in your year, I believe its only three other girls. Now if I hear complaints of impropriety I will investigate, but I don't expect to be called for petty matters you ladies can solve with communication or failing that the intervention of a prefect. Your records will be adjusted to show your new name. You are a Slytherin and Im proud to call you one of mine." He stopped, looking dazed as if he had forgotten what he was going to say. " Now, I imagine Madame Pomphrey has to have a word with you, so I'll leave you ladies to it."
With a nod of his head, shaking the ends of his mustache, he turned and headed back into the Hall, leaving the two of them standing in the corridor.
The matron firmly took hold of Sadie's arm and examined her form with a critical eye, looking for any potential damage she might have brought back from her stay in Cokeworth. Finding nothing, she released her arm, running a gentle hand over the sleeve of her robe.
"Your mother said you'd like to start potions for transition, is that correct, Miss Snape?"
Sadie nodded silently.
Madame Pomphrey nodded back, "Come up to the Hospital Wing, tomorrow afternoon. Since term started on Friday this year, you have no excuse. We'll run a diagnostic just to get a base line of your current hormones and how much potion we'll need to start with."
She ran another hand up and down her arm, like shaking the cold off in winter. "We'll get you all set up Miss Snape."
With that, she dismissed the girl and they both headed into the hall to get seated for the first years.
After the sorting, the students filed out of the Great Hall in piles, the Slytherins and Ravenclaws trying to stay organized. To Sadie's surprise, A fifth year prefect came up beside her, Narcissa Black. She gulped silently, waiting for the older student to speak first.
In a soft tone, Narcissa told her that she would pull her away in the common room and to be ready for a discussion in the second year girls' dorm with her new roommates. Narcissa would be mediating. Sadie nodded that she understood and followed the crowd to the cooler stone of the dungeons.
She stood awkwardly in the common area trying to place the other second years. She hadn't paid much attention last year, too busy trying to stay friends with Lily, something the older Slytherins had hated, and trying to avoid the Gryffindor boys.
After finishing the introduction speech to the first years, Narcissa came up to her with three other girls following. She gestured with her hand to the girls' dorm and Sadie followed along with the other girls, waiting for someone to say she didn't belong. Lily had mentioned how the dorms worked in Gryffindor and Sadie was so glad the Slytherin dorms were more private. She'd hate to have her gender fail in front of the whole of the dungeons.
Slytherin dorms worked in such a way that anyone could walk the hallway where the dorms were located but only the occupants of a dorm could enter plus prefects and teachers.
The group arrived at the second year dorm and Narcissa gestured once again for everyone to enter. THe other three girls went first and Sadie dredged up all her nerve and stepped forward. She passed through the door with no issue, looking surprised and relieved all at once. The four girls stood eyeing each other up as Narcissa stepped through.
She calmly smoothed her uniform and spoke in a soft but firm tone. " Alright, we have confirmed that this is indeed Miss Snape's dormitory. Do any of you have questions or complaints?"
One girl, Primrose or something similar, wrinkled her nose, but ultimately shook her head negatively along with the other girls.
Narcissa fixed a steely look on each of them. " I do NOT want to hear of bullying or harassment due to Miss Snape's late joining. Do I make myself clear?"
Scared of the things Narcissa's sisters and family might have taught her had all four girls nodding eagerly.
She nodded in approval and left them to unpack with another hard look that spoke volumes.
Too tired to talk a lot, the girls quietly unpacked and went to bed,
