Johanna: I'll see you when School is over, Hilda.
Hilda: Okay, see you mum. I love you.
Johanna: I love you, too.
It was early in the morning and after just 3 days of being trolls, Hilda, and the other kids will be heading off towards school. Johanna was on her knee in front of Hilda and was saying goodbye to her daughter for the day. They gave each other a quick hug at the last minute and Johanna stood up, and watched Hilda grab her bag and walked out the door. When Hilda had left, Johanna just shrugged her shoulders and walked back into the kitchen and sat at the table with her cup of coffee. Johanna was sitting at the table and was looking at the white hardness of it, thinking about today might go at school for her daughter.
Hilda was a troll and not a human, like ages ago. But Johanna was more worried that if Hilda goes to school, then everyone will call her a freak because her new look. Hilda was a brave and kind girl, who always tried to see the best in everything and now she was head to school and be the other kids, who'd become terrified and tell their parents, who will call the safety patrol. The thought of Hilda taken away from her made Johanna's heart squirm. Just then a purple flash happened beside her and Johanna saw Tontu walk over and sit at the table next to Johanna.
Tontu: Hey, Johanna.
Johanna: Hi, Tontu.
Tontu: How are things going?
Johanna: Not great.
Tontu: What do you mean? What's wrong?
Johanna: It's Hilda.
Tontu: What about her? Did she do something dumb?
Johanna: No, Tontu! She's going to school for the first time, as a troll!
Tontu: So?
Johanna: So? So, that means Hilda will treated awfully!
Tontu: Johanna, Hilda can take of herself-
Johanna: And there you go! Just saying that as always without even...URGH!
Johanna banged her fist on the table and grumbled harshly, feeling like Tontu's words wouldn't help her turmoil. Johanna then pinched the verge of her nose and placed her arm on the table, to which Tontu saw Johanna's expression and felt bad.
Tontu: Sorry...
Johanna: *Sigh* It's fine, Tontu. I know Hilda can take care of herself, but it's still worrying.
Tontu: Understandable. But what are you gonna do?
Johanna: What can I do? There's nobody, none of the children's parents would even understand.
Tontu: There has be one adult that would, right?
Johanna didn't respond to Tontu's words and just looked down at the table with an anxious face. Most of the adults in trolberg will not collaborate with her daughter being a troll and will only frown upon it. Eli, Anton, Erika, Andy, Marion, Karen, Kaisa, and Alva are the only adults that would approve of the kids being trolls, but everyone else is another story. Johanna just racing her thoughts over who could she trust, until Johanna thought of someone.
Johanna: Actually. I think there maybe one.
Johanna rose up from her seat and walked across the living room, towards her drawing station and to the phone. Picking it up, Johanna dialed the numbers on the phone and waited for an answer, before someone picked up the phone a moment later.
Enid: Hello?
Johanna: Hi, Mrs Hallgrim, this is Johanna Pearson.
Enid: Oh, of course. Hello Mrs Pearson, how May I help you?
Johanna: Listen, um, there's something I should tell you.
Enid: Yes?
Johanna: Listen, Hilda, along with her friends, are not themselves.
Enid: What do you mean?
Johanna: They're trolls.
Enid: Wait. What? Is this a joke?
Johanna: No. We got cursed by a wizard days ago, now we're trolls for the rest of our lives.
Enid: Oh, my...
Johanna: It's true. Right now Hilda, Frida, David, Trevor, and Sarah are coming to school and are trolls. It makes me worried that everyone will see and become scared, in which they'll tell everyone and it would lead to disaster.
Enid: I see.
Johanna: Look, Mrs Hallgrim, I know this is too much to ask, but I can't stand the thought of Hilda being teased and pushed around. I understand if your feeling very edgy from all this information, but I have to do something.
Enid: It's okay, I understand. What can I do?
Johanna: If anyone finds out today of the kids' trollness, I want you to stick up for them and calm them.
Enid: Of course I will.
Johanna: Okay, great. Thank you so much.
Enid: No problem. Now I have to get ready, goodbye.
Johanna: Goodbye.
And that was it, Johanna lowered the phone down and sighed in relief. Johanna put the phone back and walked back to the table, sitting down and sighing in relief once more. Tontu looked at Johanna and heard the whole talk.
Tontu: Do you think it worked?
Johanna: I'm hoping. Mrs Hallgrim recognized Hilda's true self before, so I'm hoping she'll come through.
Tontu: I'm sure. We won't have to worry about the bad things coming.
Johanna: That's the last thing on my mind, Tontu. The last thing.
Kaisa was sitting on the chair next to the couch in Tildy's house, where Kaisa was speaking with Tildy. Kaisa was telling Tildy what happened and why she has spoken with her in a while. Kaisa was able to work in the library too without anyone noticing her troll assets. Finally on her day off, Kaisa left the library and walked all towards the home of Matilda Pilkvist. There Tildy was shocked to see her former apprentice as a troll, but invited her inside anyway due to the shining sun. Tildy put on the kettle and offered Kaisa some tea, before she told her old master everything that's happened in past 3 days. Kaisa told Tildy how a Balthazar, the tricky wizard, turned her and everyone into Trolls. Tildy sat next to her on the couch and listened to her words. When Kaisa was done Tildy just looked at her for a moment before she looked down with a livid face.
Tildy: So that twisted, mischievous wizard turned you into a troll, along with everyone else?
Kaisa: Yeah.
Tildy: Well, how cruel of him! We should go teach him a lesson.
Kaisa: We can't...he's dead.
Tildy: What? Balthazar's dead?
Kaisa: Yes...
Tildy just a made a face of shock, because she knew how his spells worked from books. Only Balthazar alone can undo the curse, but if he's gone and dead, then nothing can help to undo what he did.
Tildy: Oh, dear.
Kaisa: I know...
Tildy:...Oh, Kaisa. Why never you told me this?
Kaisa: I guess I had a lot on my mind. I needed to find out how to work in the library first.
Tildy: Ah. How is everyone else doing?
Kaisa: They're doing fine, I think. Hilda is doing good I think, she has the guts to get through.
Tildy: Well, of course she will! She's Hilda! But what about everyone else?
Kaisa: Johanna will find a way, Frida has magic, David is getting braver, I don't know about Sarah, Trevor, Kelly, Jaden, and Alva.
Tildy: Ah. But what about you?
Kaisa: I don't now...I...I hope I'm doing fine.
Tildy: I'm sure your doing fine, Sweetheart.
Kaisa: No! What if I'll mess up again!
Tildy: What are you saying?
Kaisa: It's how it's always been, Tildy! It's gonna be like how you've always trained me as a student! I'm gonna fail, I'm gonna fail trying to live a new life, like I failed as your student! I'm gonna fail!
Kaisa then buried her face into her hands into her face and began to whimper and cry, very overwhelmed. Tildy just watched from the sofa and felt how this moment brought back memories when Kaisa came to her and she called herself talentless and weak, when she was supposed to return a normal book a year ago. Poor Kaisa. Tildy then hopped off the couch and walked to Kaisa, placing her hand on her shoulder and getting her attention.
Tildy: Kaisa. You need to know, and you must stop calling yourself a weakling in the chain. Your not weak.
Kaisa: Why do you say that?
Tildy: Because it's true.
Kaisa: Name one thing I've done worthy!
Tildy: You solved my witch maze, you lifted your friends out of the void, you helped gather the tide mice, you even prevailed when you got turned into a troll! All of that is more then one.
Kaisa: *Sniff* Thanks, Tildy.
Tildy: Of course. Now have you been doing since?
Kaisa: Well, I've kept the windows shut and hidden myself under a cloak from any visitors. So nothing too wrong.
Tildy: Than you have no reason to berate yourself for anything, Kaisa.
Kaisa: Okay.
Then Tildy turned back and walked towards her couch, sitting back down. Kaisa and Tildy both looked at each other with straight faces, before making smiles of confidence and comfort.
Tildy: So then. What else has happened?
Kaisa: Oh, where to start.
Alva was sitting at her desk in her private office at Sparrow scout HQ. She had gotten up today and left for HQ, attending to take care of some work she hopes of finishing. Sparrow scouts wasn't today, but tomorrow will be. Right now Alva was trying to sort this whole thing out, trying to find out on what she was gonna do when all the scouts come to see their Raven Leader has become a troll. She also wondered about Hilda, Frida, Sarah, and David, and what will she do with them if they do come. But right now she needed to find out what to do. Just then Alva heard her door open and stepped in was Pam, the Raven Leader's assistant.
Pam: Raven Leader, I'm here-
Alva: Pam!
Alva turned towards the door and saw her assistant Pam come in. It only took Pam one look at Alva before she saw her face with fear, because she was a troll! Pam made a face of horror and shock as she let out a loud scream, dropping the box of supplies Raven Leader asked her to get. Alva immediately just hopped out of her seat and rushed towards the door, slamming it shut and covering Pam's mouth. Pam muffled in fear under Alva's hand and struggled to get out, but Alva was stronger then usual. After a few moments Alva let go and looked at Pam as she regained her calm behavior, and she just looked at her boss.
Pam: Alva?!
Alva: Hello.
Pam: You're a troll?!
Alva: Yep. I got cursed by a evil wizard named Balthazar.
Pam: Oh, dear.
Alva: I know. But this is what I wanted to talk to you about.
Pam: I see. What are you gonna do?
Alva: I don't know...I'm more concerned about the kids when they come to see me as a troll.
Pam: Oh.
Alva: I'm hoping. I'll tell them what happened to me, how they'll react is what concerns me.
Pam: Let's hope that they take it well.
Alva: But what about other kids. David, Frida, Hilda, and Sarah?
Pam: What about them?
Alva: They're trolls too.
Pam: They are?
Alva: Yes. And with trolls turn to rocks in the day, our scout activities take most in daylight. So how can these 4 kids do it?
Pam: No clue. Maybe you can do some activities arranged for them at night.
Alva: Maybe. It could work. Thank Pam.
Pam: Of course.
Pam just gave Alva a pat on the shoulder before she turned back to the office door, exiting through. Alva was left behind in her office and sat back down in her set, looking up at the ceiling. She liked the idea of having Sarah, David, Frida, and Hilda doing their activities at night...In fact, maybe Alva could do more!
Eli, Anton, Erika, Andy, Karen, and Marion were at the residence of Eli and Anton, all were talking about their children, children turned into trolls. They needed to think of ideas to counter and live with it, in order for things to be easier to handle and control. While they were talking, Marion brought up something that Kelly had told her a while a ago.
Karen: Your daughter and her friend, Jaden, are marras?!
Marion: Yes. There's no denial.
Erika: For how long?
Marion: 3 years according to her.
Andy: Oh, my.
Marion: Yeah.
Eli: How are you feeling about it?
Marion: I guess I'm just accepting it.
Anton: That quick?
Marion: I guess.
Everyone just shrugged for whatever and looked back at the television, broadcasting a news report on the newest head of safety patrol. Gerda Gustav, the one who wrote the act of having the night of the Trolls. She was talking at a press conference about new ideas and plans for both the city and what lies outside the wall. The parents saw her and remembered from their children that deputy Gerda helped them in past with her opened mind, and she seemed to be doing it again. Maybe if they asked her for aid, tell her what happened, then maybe, just maybe, she could help them and calm the city in case if things go south.
Eli: Do you think Gerda could help us?
Anton: I don't know. She did help the kids in the past.
Erika: That's what my son and his friends said at least.
Andy: Well, then we'll talk to Gerda and request her assistance.
Karen: But what should we do in the meantime?
Marion: What do you mean?
Karen: I mean, what should we do in the meantime for our kids? Like how keeping their new troll assets in line.
Erika: The smart things. We boarded up our children's windows to block sunlight, right?
Karen: Yep. We closed the curtains and having wooden boards nailed up on the windows.
Eli: Right! Same thing with the rest of our houses whenever the sun comes out, but during the day we can keep the curtains and blinds open, until the next sunny day.
Anton: But what about going outside?
Karen: We have the kids were hoods over their heads whenever they go outside.
Marion: But we can allow to not to wear them when it's nighttime.
Erika: That sounds about right to me.
Andy: Same thing.
All the adults in the living room looked at each other with confident smiles, before going back to their drinks.
