Kelly and Jaden both watched as the Night Owls walked back to them from their adventures from the Stone Forest. It's been about 4 days since the Night Owls left for the stone forest. Johanna, Trevor, Sarah, Hilda, Frida, David, and Alva had these violent outbursts because of their trollness and attacked a woman and Bagsy and Kelly after they wouldn't stop insulting them for being trolls. So they left for the stone forest to avoid any suspicion. But now it was time for them to return after 4 days out there. Kelly and Jaden were with the parents as the Night Owls were returning. Alva, was leading the Night Owls as they entered the city through the train gates under the moonlight. Whence they entered the parents immediately rushed to their kids after 4 long days. Johanna and Hilda approached each other and she crouched down to Hilda's level to look at her with a cheerful smile.

Johanna: Hello, Hilda.

Hilda: Hello, mum! It's good to see you!

Johanna: Indeed. How was your time out there?

Hilda: It was fantastic! I got memories of freedom back!

Johanna: Wonderful!

Johanna just hugged Hilda and kissed her on the head, feeling happy and proud that her precious Hilda remembered who she truly was. An adventurer.

David: So, what's been going on? How the ones we attacked?

Erika: Well, the woman that Johanna attacked went to the hospital and got her hand fixed up.

Sarah: What about my brother and sister?

Sarah's Mother: We took them to the hospital and the doctors patched up Kelly's arm and Bagsy got he's teeth fixed.

Sarah's Father: But we sent to grandma and grandpa's for a while, until they're ready to come back.

Sarah: Oh, okay.

Sarah kinda looked down and made a downhearted expression instead of a casual face. She wasn't sure if Bagsy and Kelly left for their grandparents house either because they were scared of her, or angry at her and wanted nothing to do with her after what she did. But regardless, they problem won't look or think of her the same they did before. Trevor looked at Sarah's face and decided to change the subject before the worst.

Trevor: And the teenager who threw eggs at the Sparrow Scouts HQ?

Karen: Oh, he got sent to the hospital too. We don't what's going on with him right now.

Andy: It's true. But enough about all that. How was your time out past the wall?

David: It was good! We got 2 Night Owl badges! One for climbing and one for troll magic!

Jaden and Kelly smirked in fondness. They saw the blue sashes over their shoulders and saw 2 new badges sowed on tight, confirming their claims. Kelly and Jaden both looked at each other and nodded firmly without their parents seeing. Tonight they had business to do.

After picking up the kids from their Night Owls, Kelly and Jaden piled into the car and Marion drove back home. Jaden was staying over with Kelly for the night, which was fine with all the adults. Upon reaching the house, Marion parked the car along the curb and switched off the engine. Then the trio got out of the car and closed the doors behind them, before walking to the front door. Marion unlocked the front door with her keys and they entered inside, closing the door behind them and taking off their shoes and hoods, for they were protected by the sunlight now.

Marion: Okay, girls. I'll be in the bathtub if you need me. Enjoy yourselves.

Kelly: Okay. Thank you, mum.

Marion nodded and she walked away, leaving Kelly and Jaden by themselves. The girls just walked up the stairs to Kelly's room. They had important business to do. They entered the bedroom and Kelly closed the door behind them. They walked to the bed and Kelly got under her knees and reached under her bed, pulling out a large book. Kelly placed it on the bed and Jaden opened it, scrolling through the pages and trying to find the right pages. The reason why was because when Jaden and Kelly both learned that trolls can do magic, they kinda been looking into it. From what they heard from their parents about magic, they looked for a spell to change them back to humans. It's started when the marra rejected them for being trolls, so they went to the library and got scrolls and books from Kaisa. But after they got them, the kids, Johanna, and Alva attack people and they were forced into the stone forest. But while they were away, Kelly and Jaden went right to work. So, after 4 days, they might've found a way to make it happen. So after meeting up with the kids they made it back home and got to work. Scrolling through the book, they finally found the right pages.

Jaden: Okay. This is it.

Kelly: Great. You can cast the spell. And I'll...be the subject of our experiment.

Kelly nervously walked to the center of the room and stood up straight, bracing herself for any worst. Jaden just stood in front of Kelly and held the book in one hand while waving her other hand in front of Kelly. Jaden looked at the book, memorizing the spell, and closed the book and tossed it on the bed.

Jaden: Okay. Here goes nothing.

Jaden then cracked her knuckles and held out her hands all set while Kelly just closed her eyes. If this really works, then things might go back to normal for the better. Kelly braced herself as Jaden concentrated hard enough to the point her hands began to glow yellow light. Jaden just kept going and the light grew brighter, and brighter, and brighter, with Kelly feeling already scared, until finally there was a loud poofing noise from the magic.

POOF!*

Jaden and Kelly closed their eyes and the flash came and gone by. Upon opening their eyes, they looked at each other and Jaden expected to see Kelly back as a human, but instead she was still a troll! Kelly and Jaden looked at each other were immediately bubbled by how it didn't work!

Jaden: What the?! Why didn't it work?

Kelly: I don't know! Did you read the book right?

Jaden: Of course! I don't what went wrong!

Jaden and Kelly both looked into different directions, trying to figure how this did not work. Jaden swore she did the spell right, so what went wrong? Jaden and Kelly kept thinking and thinking, before remembering Balthazar, where Kelly realized something.

Kelly: Well, maybe it has something to do with the curse Balthazar put on us.

Jaden: Really? Like it's affected other spells too?

Kelly: Theoretically. So his curse is just too strong.

Both Kelly and Jaden looked at each other and made dishearten expression, realizing that nothing would work. Not even the spell they tried to use just now.

Kelly: So, I guess this is it then...

Jaden: Yeah...Forever...

Jaden and Kelly both just walked to the bed and sat down while looking at the floor. They couldn't believe they failed terribly. This was worse when the marra: Margery, Larissa, Tracy, Briar, and Andy rejected them and kicked them out of their friend group. Now they were gonna be stuck as crummy old trolls for the rest of their lives! Kelly just sighed in a sad tone and looked at the floor while Jaden placed her hand onto her cheek and leaned into it, looking at floor. Jaden then glanced at the book and saw it open on another page. Jaden reached over, picked up the book, and looked at the page with curiousty. Jaden saw it was a beauty spell on Troll magic. Suddenly, Jaden got an idea.

Jaden: Hey, Kelly.

Kelly: Yeah?

Jaden: Look at this.

Kelly leaned and looked at the page of the troll magic book, seeing the spell and becoming a little confused.

Kelly: A beatuy spell? What about it?

Jaden: Why don't we just try this? You know. Make us look like humans with this.

Kelly: Hm...Maybe.

Jaden: Yeah, I mean...We don't wanna be called ugly.

Jaden and Kelly both looked at each other with faces of discomfort, but knew what they had to do. They really remembered how the marra called them freaks and monsters for being trolls, and the pair felt that they were somewhat right. They did look like ugly beasts. But if they could use this beauty spell to make look better, then maybe it would make them look beautiful. Kelly and Jaden both looked at each other and nodded firmly, there was no turning back and they both knew this had to be done. Jaden took the book with both hands and read through the spell page, reading the instructions, memorizing the spell, and checking to see if there was any footnotes, which where none. As Jaden read the pages she looked up at Kelly with a raised eyebrow.

Jaden: You wanna volenture again?

Kelly: Yeah. I wanna stop looking like a monster already.

The girls firmly nodded and Jaden turned back to the book, reading the final parts before she closed the book and placed it to the side. Jaden turned to face Kelly and cracked her fingers again, ready to try again.

Jaden: Alright. Now hold still.

Kelly shifted and sat criss-cross applesauce, sitting up straight as instructed. Jaden raised her hands and placed them on Kelly's cheeks gently, which made Kelly a tiny bit uncomfortable, but didn't resist. Then Jaden took a deep breath, concentrated and closed her eyes, letting her hands glowing yellow again. Kelly stood still as Jaden did the magic and a bright yellow glow flashed. Jaden closed her eyes from the flash and lowered her hands from Kelly's face as the spell was over.

Jaden: *Sigh* I hope this...

Jaden looked at Kelly's face and her face turned pale as her heart stopped beating in fear. Jaden expected to see a face that looked more human than troll, but instead she saw nothing at all. Jaden saw Kelly's face totally blank, expect for her pointy troll nose. Her mouth, eyes, and ears. Kelly was completely faceless!

Jaden: HOLY CRAP!

Jaden just stumbled off the bed and gazed upon Kelly's empty face and felt horror in her mind for what she did. Kelly, not hearing or seeing, didn't understand what was happening. instead she raised her hands to her face and placed them on it, feeling absolutely nothing except her nose. It took Kelly a few seconds to realize what was going on, and by the time she realized what was going on, Kelly began to panic. Kelly tried to scream, but she couldn't for not having a mouth and only felt like her mouth was permanently closed. But Kelly hopped off the bed and began to run around the room, panicking and bonking into a couple things. Jaden didn't hear Kelly scream, hearing only silence from hear and the sound of bonking into things, and just got back up on her feet. She rushed to Kelly and wrapped her arms around her waist, hugging her and trying to calm her down the best she could.

Jaden: Kelly! Shh! It's me! It's me! I need you to relax, okay? Just relax!

Kelly was panicking and was freaking out, especially how Jaden grabbed her by the waist. She shook and jumped in Jaden's arms, but Jaden wouldn't let go and held Kelly down. Eventually Jaden hugging onto Kelly on the floor as she shook, but after a couple of more seconds, Kelly started to calm down. Kelly couldn't breath through her mouth, but inhaled and exhaled through her nose. After a couple minutes of breathing, Kelly was finally calm and stopped shaking, allowing Jaden to let her go. She shifted to Kelly's face on her knees and placed her hands on Kelly's cheeks as she rose up. Kelly placed her hands on Jaden's, who was holding onto her cheeks, making her more calmer for recognizing who was touching her.

Jaden: Yes. It's me. Jaden!

But instead of hugging, Kelly just slapped Jaden on the cheek. Jaden grunted from the slap and looked back at Kelly.

Jaden: Okay, okay. I understand. But I'll fix this. Just hold still.

Jaden got up, walked to the bed, grabbed the book, and scrolled through the pages to find the spell again. Jaden walked back to Kelly as she scrolled through the book and found the beauty spell, and the way to reverse the spell too. Jaden then got on her knees and placed the book down after memorizing the spell, before turning to Kelly and placed her hand on her shoulder to keep her close. Then she closed the book after reading it and turned back to Kelly, placing her hands on her cheeks and again and taking a deep breath.

Jaden closed her eyes and began to concentrated on the spell again, closing her eyes with her hands glowing yellow bright. Kelly did her best to keep calm and a flash of light came about. When the flash pasted Jaden opened her eyes, seeing Kelly's eyes and ears. But what wasn't there was her mouth! Kelly opened her eyes and raised her hands to touch her eyes and ears, but felt no mouth. She tried to open it with her strength. But nothing was working. Kelly wasn't panicking, thankfully, but did glare at Jaden to fix this. Jaden saw Kelly's glare and sighed.

Jaden: Don't worry! I...I know who can fix this. Kaisa.

Kaisa was sitting at the front desk of the library and was reading an interesting book about warrior cats who live in the woods and sipping some tea. Just then she heard the large library doors knock. Kaisa immediately groaned in response because she wasn't in mood for any more visitors today. She just placed her book down and got out of her chair, walking past her desk and across the library floor. Upon reaching the doors Kaisa unlocked the doors with keys nearby and opening the doors, seeing who was outside. She expected to Hilda and co, but was surprised to see it was Jaden and Kelly, former marra. They were both looking at Kaisa with worried faces, especially Kelly.

Kaisa: Jaden? Kell-oh my goodness what's wrong with your mouth?!

Jaden: We know! We know! I tried to do a beauty spell and it went bad! Can you please fix it.

Kaisa just blinked and looked at Jaden, seeing desperation to help her friend. Then she turned to Kelly and saw her making sad eyes without a mouth, begging for help. Kaisa just couldn't refuse to help.

Kaisa: *Sigh* Of course. Step inside.

Kelly and Jaden smiled in hope, at least Jaden did, and they walked inside the building and Kaisa closed the door behind them. They stepped into the front room and Kaisa stood in front of Kelly.

Kaisa: Now hold still there.

Kelly nodded and held her hands together as Kaisa stepped forward and placed her hands on Kelly. Kaisa closed her eyes and concentrated on the magic, with Jaden and Kelly closing their eyes too. Kaisa's hands began to glow purple, and it flashed which everyone looked away from. When it passed everyone opened their eyes.

Jaden: Did it work?

Everyone then turned to Kelly as Kaisa lowered her hands from her face, showing her mouth was back. Kelly saw it and felt herself opening her mouth again, feeling very relieved.

Kelly: Yes. *sigh* Thank goodness.

Kelly just happily leaned in against Kaisa and hugged her tightly, hugging her as a thanks. Jaden just stepped forward and hugged Kaisa and Kelly too, which Kaisa smiled and hugged them herself. After a few moments they parted and they looked at each other.

Kaisa: So, uh, if you don't mind me asking, what exactly happened?

Jaden: Well, at first we tried to do a spell to change us back to humans.

Kelly: Yeah, but it didn't work. So we tried to do a beauty spell to help fix it, but we guess you know how that went.

Kaisa: I see. The spell to change you back didn't work because Balthazar's curse was too strong.

Kelly: That's what we thought.

Kaisa: But what does this have to do with the beauty spell you attempted?

Jaden: Because...We're tired of being called monsters.

Jaden and Kelly both looked away from Kaisa and made faces of gloom. Kaisa just saw their faces and started to feel bad for them, knowing they just wanted to go back to normal.

Kaisa: Oh. Hey, it's okay.

Kelly: No, it's not. We're monsters! Our old friends rejected us and now we can't change ourselves back again!

Jaden: We're stuck like this for the rest of our lives! WE'RE UGLY MONSTERS!

Suddenly Jaden and Kelly both started to cry. They were no longer cool kids anymore, and now felt like helpless and weak people. They heaved their hands against their faces and began to sob painfully in front of Kaisa, making her worry again. Kaisa just sighed and placed her hands on Jaden's right shoulder and Kelly's left one and got them to look up at her through their tears.

Kaisa: You girls are both not ugly monsters. You're beautiful on the inside, no matter what. I promise you that. And you don't need a spell to fix that.

Jaden: *Sniffle* Really?

Kaisa: Of course.

Jaden and Kelly found comfort in her words and lowered their heads back down to the floor, before they just sniffled instead of crying, before they leaned back against Kaisa and wrapped their arms around her once more. Kaisa just smiled and hugged them back, squeezing them gently in the embrace. It would take some time, but for now they just stayed like that. In a hug of comfort that they desperately needed and deserved.
