Chapter 159
Rodney had progressed through his life going from a baby to a kid to a teenager and now to an adult he still had the dream of becoming a great inventor just like Bigweld but now he was working at the big fancy restaurant with his father
We get to see Teenage Rodney progress again from a teenager to an adult as he was graduating from high school and was now working in the restaurant with his father as a cook robot was giving a vacuum robot some nuts and bolts
Here you go. the cook robot said
Thanks. the vacuum nose robot said
Enjoy. the cook robot said
I will. the vacuum robot said
The vacuum robot was sucking the nuts and bolts with his vacuum nose while Rodney was picking up everyone's plates and oil cups before heading into the kitchen to see his father who was tapping something on the back of his hip
Dad? Rodney said
Oh, hey. Herb said
Why are you...? Rodney said
Well soon as you reach the age where your warranty expires, you start falling apart. Herb said
Really? Rodney said
Yup. Pretty soon there's gonna be more duct tape on me. Herb said
Rodney then went over and took out something
Can I try it now, Dad? Rodney said
Oh, Rodney... Herb said
Please? Rodney said
Have you worked all the kinks out of it? Herb said
This is gonna make your job easy. Rodney said
Are you sure? Herb said
I am. Besides i invented it for you. Rodney said
Herb then looked at all the plates before turning to Rodney
Okay. Let's try it. Herb said
Great. Okay, this is it. Rodney said
Rodney showed off the same one eyed robot but instead of one eye it had two eyes
Wonderbot, go to work. Rodney said
The wonderbot then started to clean all of the plates while also cleaning some pots and pans
Wow. Herb said
See? What did i tell you? Rodney said
I have to admit that's impressive. Herb said
It really is. Rodney said
The wonderbot kept working and working until...
Copperbottom! the angry robot said
The wonderbot then stopped working and dropped the plates
Mr. Gunk. Herb said
What is that? Mr. Gunk said
Oh, that. My son made it. Herb said
What's it doing? Mr. Gunk said
The wonderbot started to get nervous
Mr. Gunk, please, you're making it nervous. Rodney said
The wonderbot then started to go out of control
Uh oh. Rodney said
It's wrecking my kitchen! Mr. Gunk said
Mr. Gunk took out an axe preparing to destroy the wonderbot
I'll stop it. Mr. Gunk said
No! Rodney said
Rodney tried to stop Mr. Gunk only to accidentally push him into a garbage pin full of oil
Rodney what did you do? Herb said
I uh... Rodney said
Your son, huh? Mr. Gunk said
Yeah? Herb said
Well Copperbottom your son just invented some crazy thing to ruin my restaurant. Mr. Gunk said
It wasn't his fault. He had nothing to do with it. Rodney said
Oh really? Mr. Gunk said
Yes, sir, he's a brilliant boy. An inventor. Herb said
You clean up this mess. Mr. Gunk said
But... Herb said
And you...get out. Mr. Gunk said
What? Rodney said
You heard me. Get out. Mr. Gunk said
Why? Rodney said
Inventor huh? You're no inventor. You're the hand-me-down son of a dishwasher, and that's all you'll ever be. Mr. Gunk said
Herb was sad after hearing what his boss said while Rodney was a little upset
Loo Rodney don't let... Herb said
Rodney then suddenly left the restaurant in frustration
Rodney? Herb said
Somebody scrape this crud off of me. And serve it to the customers. Mr. Gunk said
A few minutes later
Rodney had a suitcase and was at the train station preparing to leave
Roundtrip or one-way? the train station worker said
One-way. Rodney said
Rodney was about to leave until his parents showed up
Rodney. Lydia said
Son. Herb said
Mom? Dad? What are you guys doing here? Rodney said
There you are. I told you I'd find him. It's a mother's instinct. Lydia said
Instinct? He left us a note: "I'm leaving. I'll be at the train station." Herb said
Seriously what are you guys doing here? Rodney said
Never mind. Pick up that suitcase. You're coming home right now. Lydia said
No, Mom. I have to do this. I'm going to Robot City tonight. Rodney said
Why? Lydia said
I'm gonna get a job and I'm gonna help Dad pay back Mr. Gunk. Rodney said
You can't be serious. Lydia said
I am. I really am. Rodney said
Wow Rodney that's... Herb said
Talk to him. Lydia said
Uh...Ro... Herb said
Robot City? You're just a kid. Lydia said
I'm never gonna be someone here. Rodney said
What do you mean someone? Lydia said
I wanna be an inventor. I wanna meet Bigweld. I wanna be somebody. Rodney said
You are somebody. Lydia said
And what would that be? Rodney said
Somebody who's not getting on that train. Lydia said
Yes, i am. Rodney said
Now guys let's not... Herb said
Talk to him. Lydia said
Herb looked at his family before approaching the train station worker
One ticket for Robot City. Herb said
Where are you going? Lydia said
Not me. Him. Herb said
Dad? Rodney said
But... Lydia said
Lydia we have to let Rodney go. Herb said
But he...but why? Lydia said
Son? Herb said
Yeah dad? Rodney said
Could i talk to you for a moment? Herb said
Sure. Rodney said

Lydia i need to talk with Rodney alone. Herb said

Lydia looked at his son before looking at her husband
(Signs) Alright fine. Lydia said

Rodney and his father walked for a bit before stopping
Rodney, did you know that when I was your age, I wanted to be a musician? Herb said
A musician? Rodney said
Yeah. I played pretty well too. But... Herb said
But what? Rodney said
My dad was worried i wouldn't be able to make a living. Herb said
So...? Rodney said
So I got refitted to be a dishwasher. Now, I'm not complaining but.. Herb sad
What? Rodney said
But I've always said to myself...if I could do it over again, i would follow my dream. You've got greatness in you, Rodney. Herb said
I do? Rodney said
Yes. Never doubt it. Herb said
So what should i do? Rodney said
You go to robot city You go meet Bigweld, and you show him your big ideas. Herb said
I will. Rodney said
Good. And Rodney... Herb said
Yeah? Rodney said
Never, never give up. Herb said
I won't. Rodney said
Suddenly the train to robot city arrived Rodney looked at his mother who had a sad look on her face while holding the suitcase
Mom...i have to do this. Rodney said
I know. Here. Lydia said
Lydia gave Rodney back his suitcase
Thank you. Rodney said
Lydia was still feeling sad but Rodney tried to cheer her up
Mom? Rodney said
Yes? Lydia said
Could i get a hug? Rodney said
Of course. Lydia said
Rodney and his mother hugged each other while the train conductor was crying
All aboard. the train conductor said
It looks like Rodney is about to head to Robot City to meet Bigweld will he become an inventor stay tuned
