Hello again. As of now, I'm writing this Author's note on April 18th, but I've been starting to write again now that I've got more time! But thats enough outta me, I feel like reviewing some of your comments and reviews right now!

Iorweth.22: It will be interesting . For a moment there I thought All Might say he wanted Izuku as his successor and here's a surprise .
There are always few Izuku stories with Emiya powers. Adding the fact that you do it as a quirki only in women will make Izuku's school experience more interesting . Now putanie if Izuku will have his illyasviel .
Good luck in school and looking forward to more .

- Well now, this gives me things to think about that I've never really thought about before. Especially about Illya. Surprisingly, I've never thought about how I would include her, but now thats some food for thought.

Gigachad23(i like you already, be my friend): Nice beginnings for the chapter! I have some words to say!

It's interesting how Izuku's hobby has went from heroes to forging swords. A nice nod to Muramasa. And I like how he's more hesitant than his Canon Counterpart in regards to being a Hero.

I'm kinda hoping he wouldn't accept OFA, as it is now. I'm pretty Izuku will be pretty strong in the future even without OFA.

In regards to having HF Normal Ending Shirou and Muramasa as his dreams. It's quite solid. Keep it up!

It'll be pretty interesting how 3 different mindsets can do as one. One who wanted to be a Hero so much that it's everything for him, One who sacrificed his ideals and dreams of becoming a Hero of Justice to protect those he loved, and One who single-mindedly pursuit the path of creating a single sword, one that not cuts bones and flesh, but Fate. I'm interested on how you'll balance these 3 characters as Izuku

That's all thank you!

- No good sir, I should thank you! But in all seriousness, this review was pretty insightful. I'm afraid that there's still gonna be a OFA for Izuku to use, but I've thought of a way to sort-of balance it out. Hope that doesn't put you off of this story!

(I used Google translate for this, so dont bully me ples)

Guest(I like your critique, be my friend as well): Wait, is All Might's power natural here? It could make sense given the shenanigans with Izuku, that maybe All Might here is a reincarnation of All Might of another world (kind of a terrible fate, to be honest, given how his life is).

I honestly have no issue with the "only women have quirks" thing; I honestly want to read a story that does it well. The big problem with those stories is that they don't change the dynamics to match the setting. Izuku's life would be different, the relationship with Katsuki would be different (and have worse overtones in an instance where he clung to the old friendship). Him being bullied (and a canon-ish Izuku would get bullied) would have nothing to do with his lack of a quirk, and more to do with his personality, dream and notebooks. With the male population being lower (and expected to stay lower than the population of women), his self sacrificial nature would frustrate people to no end, same with the desire to be a hero. The fanboy nature and notebooks would also not be great for him.

All of which is at least decently accounted for here. Obviously a lot has changed due to his other influences making him start going down a different path by the time the story started. It is also not the focus.

I saw a few mistakes, but nothing too terrible. It does drive me up the wall seeing you use heroes instead of heroines. All Might is the only hero here, with Izuku as a possible second.

- A lot to unpack here, but I'll do my best! First off, All Might still uses the inherited OFA, and he definitely isn't from another parallel world(might use that as on omake if i got time tho lol).

As for writing a 'only women have quirks' world, I'm gonna be tryin my damned best to make everything at least half-way decent. Of course, I fully expect myself to look back at this story, cringe, and then rewrite it. Though I gotta thank you for giving me ideas on how his relationships with literally everyone would change, it gives me a more interesting narrative to write. And trust me, in writing this review I'm already thinking of another way the entrance exam will go :)

As for the Heroes instead of Heroines thing, it's more of a matter of perspective of things for me, mixed with how FGO and Fate in general deal with Heroes. My idea was that, because there's only female heroes, theres no need to talk about heroes vs. heroines. If you're talkin about a hero, its gonna be a woman, and therefore a heroine. And as for the FGO thing, I think that Hero is just used to refer to anyone, regardless of gender. Artoria isn't the best example, as she masqueraded as a man, but Scathach is certainly a woman, and i believe referred to as a Hero rather than a Heroine.

So yeah, thats my essay on why i use hero instead of heroine.

oh yeah, and i finally sat down for a bit in a google doc to write about future plot points. yay for planning.

anyway, have fun with this chapter.

'Ya' know, I don't think I've ever seen the beach as a place to do anythin' other than forging.' Izuku thought to himself, his body automatically walking down the familiar pathway.

Dagobah Municipal Beach was an abandoned beach that had been left polluted for over a decade. A true shame, as it looked quite beautiful when it was properly maintained. Though, it wasn't as if Izuku cared much about those details.

For him, it was a convenient place that allowed him to forge swords without being interrupted or discriminated against.

'But man, yesterday really was crazy.' Izuku thought, thinking back to the final events of yesterday night.

"-ounen? Shounen? Are you okay?"

"Well 'ain't this a familiar feeling?" Izuku muttered, feeling the wind on his face, along with the shadow that covered him.

"Ah, good! It's good to see that you're not seriously injured, shounen." All Might spoke up, looking down with relief and a bit of concern in his eyes.

...All Might? This was the old man from before, not All Might!

"Ah, thank you sir for waking me up." Izuku stood, before bowing slightly to the elder man.

He blinked, before sighing. "Ah, I knew I was forgetting something." Izuku looked up at this, confused to high hell at this point.

The man disappeared into a cloud of steam, and out emerged-

"IT'S ME, SHOUNEN!"

-the towering, hulking Number One Hero.

Izuku froze.

All Might vanished behind another cloud of smoke, and the old man was revealed yet again.

"H-How..?" Izuku managed to squeak out.

He grimaced and lifted his shirt enough to show the purple hole the size of an American quarter in his side, with all kinds of stitches leading and surrounding it.

Izuku nearly threw up.

"Not pretty, is it?" All Might chuckled sardonically. "I got this one two years ago, and I had most of my respiratory system completely destroyed."

He looked towards Izuku. "I used to be able to work nearly all day, but now... now I can only save people for three hours everyday."

Izuku could barely breathe. "B-but... that would mean-"

All Might completed the unthinkable truth. "Yeah. I'll have to retire within the next five years, if I'm lucky and don't get into any more hard fights."

It was devastating news. The kind that would make families pack their bags to leave the country in the millions. The kind that could spell out the restart of the Dark Age of Quirks for the entirety of Japan. The kind that would leave the entire world despondent with the loss of not only the Number One Hero, but the loss of the one and only Male Hero-

Izuku's eyes shot open, and his head whipped back to look at All Might. "You don't mean..."

All Might's smile was like nothing Izuku had ever seen before. It was filled with so many emotions, but the one that stood out most-

"I do." All Might's smile never wavered. "I'll train you, and have you take my place as the Symbol of Peace and Justice."

-was the unmeasurable amounts of joy it held.

"And you'll be the next holder of One For All on top of it all as well!"

Izuku tilted his head, confused. "One For All?"

All Might nodded. "Yes, One For All. My own Quirk." He held up a hand, stopping Izuku from even starting to talk. "Allow me to explain myself a bit more first, shounen."

Izuku hesitantly nodded, wanting more answers but willing to wait a bit for them. "Thank you, shounen."

All Might cleared his throat. "I suppose the easiest way to explain it is like this: you know how in each interview I've taken, I've never once given a straight answer as to what my Quirk is?"

"Hai." Izuku nodded. "It's considered to be one of the greatest mysteries of the Modern Era, after all."

All Might chuckled. "I forgot that they called it that. But to put anything that you may have heard to rest, One For All is no simple Quirk." He paused, looking into the distance. "It's a torch. One that is passed down from generation to generation, each passing making it grow in strength exponentially."

"And now," All Might looked at him, and away from his thoughts. "It's your turn to hold this grand torch."

'Still,' Izuku mused to himself. 'What a crazy thought. I mean, a Quirk that can be passed down and increases in power each time is just...'

Izuku sighed. 'But, All Might placed his trust in me. If I were to back down at this point...'

Izuku clenched his fist, then shook his head.

'No. There's no point in thinking about it, Izuku. Just drop it.' He reprimanded himself. 'Though, I do wonder why he chose Dagobah of all places to meet up.'

Izuku kept thinking to himself. 'For the weights around here? No, it would be easier to just register me into a gym with proper weights that way. For the privacy? Same kind of issue, but I guess it makes more sense. Swimming? No, if he wanted me to swim it would be in a clean pool. Not in a cesspool of garbage...'

On and on Izuku kept thinking of reasons and discarding them, before he noticed something about his surroundings.

"Ah," Izuku muttered in surprise. "Here already?"

It was both awe-inducing and sad at the same time. From mountains of scrap metal, ranging from minor appliances like toasters and microwaves to entire car chassis, to simple plastic bags and half-eaten foods, Dagobah was truly a dump in all possible ways. More often than not, people stayed away from it simply because they could not bear to see the once beautiful beach reduced to this.

That, and it did smell quite rank for those unused to it.

All in all, not the first place one would think of to train in. But All Might had asked him to come here, and he would be damned if he didn't at least hear the man out.

'Speak of the devil.' Izuku thought, seeing the bright blond man in his skeletal form standing around. "All Might!" He called out, gaining the Hero's attention.

"Midoriya-shounen! It's good to see you again!" All Might called back, before leaning in slightly and whispering. "And please, call me Toshinori, or Yagi, while I'm in this form. Last thing we need is someone learning my secret, right?"

"Hai, All M- Yagi-sensei!" Izuku shouted, ecstatic that he got to call the Single Male Hero by his true name.

"Good! Now then, I'm sure that you've been wondering why I wanted you to come here, yes?" All Might asked.

Izuku blushed a bit. "W-Well yeah. I mean, it is kind of an out of the way place to come to. Especially for training." All Might laughed at this. "Hahaha! Well, I suppose you're not wrong about that Midoriya-shounen. But yes, I did ask you to come here so that I could train you here on this very beach."

All Might made a grand gesture with his arms, as of beholding the mountains of junk all around them. "And you'll train by cleaning this beach to its former glory!"

Izuku tilted his head, trying to understand his mentor's logic better. "But... wouldn't a gym be better to use for training? I mean this could definitely work, but going to a gym and working specific muscle groups would be better, right?"

All Might grinned at his student's perceptiveness. "You're certainly right, shounen. However, getting you more in-shape is only one of the goals that I have in mind by having you clean the beach."

"Only one?" Izuku muttered. "But what could the others be?" His eye narrowed in concentration, before widening and lighting up with realization. "Don't tell me- we're here to-"

All Might cut him off. "That's right, shounen! We're here to not only train you, but we're here to help you commit your first long-term act of Heroism! That goal being to transform this beach back to its former glory for the people to enjoy again!"

...

Izuku sheepishly replied, "I thought we were doing it for the environment..."

All Might couched into his hand, muttering. "Yes... well... helping the environment is a Heroic act as well?" He said, unsure of his own answer.

...

"Ah!" Izuku shouted, coming to a realization and startling All Might in the process. "I can't believe I nearly forgot!" All Might blinked owlishly at Izuku. "Forgot what, shounen?"

Opening his mouth to speak, Izuku closed it nearly as quickly, thinking about his reply. "Actually... I think it would be easier to show you, Yagi-sensei. Follow me."

Izuku wandered through the valleys of trash with All Might following him, before coming to a small open clearing. All Might muttered, "Shounen? What exactly is this?"

Izuku walked towards the middle of the clearing, passing by the several dozen swords of varying kinds and sizes, before reaching the makeshift furnace in between the flat metal surface meant to be an anvil and the barrel full of oil for quenching.

"This, Yagi-sensei," Izuku looked back, with pride dancing behind his heterochromic eyes. "Is my forge. And if we're going to clean this beach of everything, then I'll need to get a new place to forge."

All Might looked around at the swords in the clearing, both mild awe and trepidation in his sunken eyes. "You made all of these, Midoriya-shounen?"

He nodded. "Hai. Each and every last one of them. Though..." He scowled. "It still feels like something is missing..." He muttered under his breath. All Might looked back at him. "Did you say something, shounen?"

Izuku shook his head. "Nevermind that. The point is, I can't exactly keep my forge in an area that I'm going to need to clean out eventually." He sighed, shaking his head. "I was going to leave here eventually, after I saved up enough money for a membership somewhere. This just sped up my timetable."

All Might looked down at the ground with a hand on his chin, thinking. He opened his mouth to speak, but hesitated.

An explosive sigh left his mouth. "I have an idea, but I'll need to check with a couple of people first, shounen."

Izuku crossed his arms in an X formation. "It's fine! As long as I have a place to forge before I need to destroy this place, you can check with as many people as you need to!"

The skeletal Number One Hero started to laugh at the verdette's(with crimson streaks) antics. "Hahaha! Well, I'll take one of these blades and show them to the Department Head as verification of your skills." He placed his hand under his chin. "I don't think it would take more than a week, but be ready for it to take awhile, shounen."

He immediately nodded. "Hai, Yagi-sensei!"

It took three days.

Izuku was in the middle of moving a decently sized microwave when he heard a voice shout out to him. "Shounen!"

He turned, forgetting he had the microwave in his arms, and waved to the man running towards him. "Yagi-"

The microwave fell right onto his foot, causing Izuku to bend over and cradle his poor foot. "-shit!" All Might finally caught up to the verdette and instantly started to fret over him. "Goodness shounen, are you alright?"

Izuku grit his teeth and took a sharp breath before standing up again, gingerly putting a bit of weight on his foot. "Yeah, I'll be alright Yagi-sensei." He then tilted his head. "But Yagi-sensei, what's going on? You ran up to me, so I assumed..."

"Ah!" All Might made a noise of exclamation, before perking up. "That's right! Shounen, grab your forging tools and come to the car after you have!"

Izuku jumped slightly at the volume of All Might's voice, before his eyes gleamed in realization. "You mean that-" He was cut off by an excited All Might. "That's right! I've managed to get someone to open their forge doors to you, on one condition." He suddenly became serious.

The verdette noted this and stood straighter, gulping. "What's the condition?"

All Might grimaced a bit. "You'll have to impress the owner. And trust me, Power Loader can be a real perfectionist when she gets serious."

Izuku's eyes sparkled. "Power Loader!? The Support Gear creator!? I've always wanted to meet her, but she almost never leaves U.A.-" He froze. "WAIT! Are we-!?"

The man's sunken eyes blinked, caught off guard that this young man would know about a Underground Hero who was relatively notorious for never leaving making a public appearance, before shaking it off. "Yes indeed, shounen! We're going to be going to U.A. for your test that begins in..." He rolled up his sleeve to check his watch. "28- make that 27 minutes."

Izuku gaped at his mentor, before bolting to his 'workshop' and grabbing his hidden tools from their various hiding spots. His chisel, fuller and punch in the fridge, the tongs under the car chassis to the right, and his precious hammer in the hood of the car shell three microwaves down from the fridge.

"Ah, shounen!" He heard All Might call out to him. "Make sure to grab a couple of your swords too! Power Loader said that she wanted some more variety to see your true level of skill!"

At this, Izuku's eyebrow twitched a bit in annoyance, more due to the fact he would have to grab several more of his swords along with everything else over Power Loader's not-so-subtle dig at his apparent skill level.

Shoving those feelings down, he quickly surveyed the barrow of blades he created before grabbing four swords, two of wrought iron and two of cast iron, before dashing back to All Might.

"Ready, Yagi-sensei!"

He got a grin in response. "Alright then, let's get going!"

As the two men with Quirks pulled into the teacher reserved parking lot, Izuku looked at the skyline of the massive U.A. University in awe.

Founded a decade after the first Quirk Revolution in Japan, and one hundred and twenty-six years after the first Quirk Discovery, U.A. University was originally an All-Girls school meant to help girls of all ages control various powerful or particularly tricky Quirks.

"...en..."

However, fifty years after its creation, it was turned into a University with the purpose of churning out the highest-quality of Heroes due to the Japanese Government creating several Quirk counseling buildings.

"...ounen..."

And it was only two decades ago that it became open to all, not just women. This was due to it opening up a General Course, a Support Course, and a Business Course, all of which were agreed to be open to men due to how little danger they would be put into.

"...oun..."

...not to mention how scary Nezu could be at times with how she could get people to follow her every word...

"SHOUNEN!"

Izuku jumped at the sudden blast of volume, whirling around to see All Might's Hero Form standing with his civilian clothes stretched across his suddenly enormous frame.

The Hero disappeared behind a cloud of steam before coming out of it, transformed into the skeletal form he had begun to know as 'Yagi-sensei' recently, and looking at him with concern. "Are you alright shounen?"

The verdette chuckled in embarrassment, rubbing the back of his neck. "Yeah, it's just..." He looked up again, with a softer look in his eye. "I never thought that I'd be able to go to U.A. myself, let alone have a workshop here."

All Might chuckled, looking up at the massive building with a happy look on his face. "Well, I'm glad that I was able to give you this experience, shounen," He grimaced after looking at his watch again. "We have to get going. Your test starts in 8 minutes." Izuku nodded in assent, and started walking with All Might by his side.

"And before I forget shounen, take this card." Izuku saw a plain white card, emblazoned with two navy striped and gold lettering that spelled out 'Guest'. He looked up confused, getting an explanation.

"I'm sure you've at least heard of the U.A. Barrier?" Izuku nodded. "It's only with a card like that that the barrier won't activate and leave you locked out." All Might grinned at the pale sheen that spread across his student's face.

"Ah..." Izuku muttered faintly. "Thanks, Yagi-sensei."

The man's grin only widened at the sight of the boy's pale face, taking humor in his slight horror. "Not a problem shounen."

And the mentor walked forward, with the student right on his heels.

"Well," All Might said, stopping in front of a massive, reinforced, door. "This is it, shounen. It's time for you to show her what you've got!"

"Right." Izuku muttered, shifting the leather bag hanging on his shoulder, a slight bit intimidated by the door. "I'll do my best, Yagi-sensei."

The man chuckled. "I know you will shounen." His expression darkened, fist reaching out to knock on the door. "The question is whether she'll accept your best."

Before Izuku could reply, The Number One Hero knocked on the door once.

Twice.

Thrice.

...

There was a brief moment of silence before the door slid open, revealing the woman who led the Support Classes in U.A.

She was quite short, being over a foot shorter than Izuku at five feet even. Her attire was... a bit eccentric, if not also slightly understandable. She wore a plain black sports bra, as well as a pair of jeans that did not bag at all, fitting perfectly to her legs-

Oh, and you can't miss the massive excavator claw in the shape of a beast's head that she wore on her own.

"So," she said, knocking Izuku out of his thoughts. "You're the one who needs a new place to forge."

She turned around and walked back into the Support Department, motioning Izuku to follow her in.

The verdette glanced at All Might, who nodded, and then walked into the Support Department; the door closing behind him as he did so.

The first thing he noticed?

Just how damn huge the place was.

The second thing he noticed?

That Power Loader was sitting down, foot tapping impatiently, holding one of his own creations in hand and his smithing bag on the floor next to her.

Izuku grabbed his shoulder, just realizing the lack of weight that was normally there. 'When-?!' He thought in alarm.

"Now that I have your attention," she drawled, staring a hole into his head. "I have to ask you."

The stare intensified.

"Why in the hell are you using either, or on occasion both, wrought and cast iron to create these swords?"

She continued, seeing Izuku's confusion. "Compared to normal steel, each of those metals have either a lesser, for wrought, or greater, for cast, amount of carbon mixed in with the iron. This causes the metals to be softer and more brittle respectively."

She scowled, disappointment slipping into her eyes. "Make no mistake, each of these blades are well made. But compared to if you were to use 1045 carbon steel..."

She sighed, mouth turning back into a more neutral expression.

"But I guess that's none of my business, eh?" She stood up and moved to a nearby table, covered in a heavy safety blanket, and placed Izuku's cast iron katana down on the edge. "But what is my business..."

She grunted, wiry arms bulging with a surprising amount of muscle, and heaved the safety blanket off of the table, revealing both the machines and the several metals on the table's surface. "...is how you're supposed to do your task in the first place."

Eyeing several pieces of metal, she picked out a couple of them and placed them next to his katana. Satisfied with the chosen metals, she turned back to Izuku and began to explain his task.

"I'll go ahead and make the assumption that you've never worked with a metal outside of wrought or cast iron?" At his nod of assent, she continued. "Thought so."

The perfectionist waved towards the metals. "All of those are either pieces of 1045 of 1060 carbon steel. I want you to use your katana as a base and recreate it near-perfectly with one of these."

Izuku blinked. "That's it?"

"HA!" She scoffed. "Kid, proper carbon steel is an entirely different beast to work with compared to what you're used to."

She grinned ominously. "And of course, you have a time limit to have a good blade forged for me to test." She placed her hand on her chin, thinking a bit, before taking it and pointing at Izuku with it.

"Five hours." She declared. "You'll have five hours to get used to the steel of your choice, to forge it out, to sharpen it, and to have the mekugi-ana placed into the nakago by the end of it."

He narrowed his eyes. 'So that was the challenge, eh?' Stretching out his arms, he continued to think. 'A good one to say the least. Always wanted to work with 1045 steel, but it was too damn expensive.'

Power Loader reached into her pockets and grabbed her phone. "You ready kid?"

Izuku nodded, already thinking of what to do with his time.

She tapped the screen. "Time starts now. Get going!"

Izuku walked past her, grabbing his smithing kit and a piece of metal on the way, and moved towards the already set up anvil and furnace.

Placing his bag on the anvil's surface and his choice of metal in the rapidly heating furnace, he sat down and closed his eyes.

Concentrating.

'1045 carbon steel. With a 0.45% concentration of carbon, it's placed near exactly in the Medium Carbon type of steel.' He thought, planning and organizing his thoughts.

'1045 is the general minimum requirement that most people have for creating a katana, as it has a decent enough balance between hardness and strength. 1060 is preferred by most, but 1045 is closer to what I'm used to.'

He furrowed his eyebrows. 'And besides...'

The old man from his dreams(memories) forged his blade alone, seeking to create the ultimate blade.

How long he had spent on this blade became irrelevant.
What metal he was using became irrelevant.
The blisters and burns on his arms and hands became irrelevant.

All that mattered, all he could focus on, were his hammer and the blade taking shape on his anvil.

He opened his eyes, unaware of the sudden unnatural gleam that shined from them, and took out his tools before placing his bag on the floor next to him.

Preparing.

'If he can make a masterpiece from wrought iron, I can do at least the same with better materials.'

He took the piece of white-hot metal out of the forge with his tongs and placed it on the anvil, raising his hammer above it.

Forging.

And he brought it down to a storm of wild sparks.

Higari Maijima looked at the brat she was testing.

In all honesty, she was going to accept him no matter how his blade ended up being.

The first reason being that All Might himself asked her to give him a place to forge his blades. In the face of the Number One Hero asking her for it, such a thing was practically trivial.

The second reason being that she was already impressed by his works.

There was a reason why both wrought and cast iron stopped being used often in the forging process a long while ago. As she had mentioned to the brat, wrought iron tended to be too soft for people to use, while cast iron often turned out to be far too brittle.

And yet, when she first saw his katanas, each of his creations were all honed to a fine edge. Each one being capable of cutting through nearly anything, even if it was only for a single swing.

So she made this trial for the kid to pass. One meant to show how he would need to get used to new, higher quality, metals rather than the poor quality ones that he used previously.

However, when she looked at him hammering at the blade taking shape...

'Oi...' She glanced at her phone's screen, seeing that there were still three hours left on the clock, before looking back up at him. 'H-he's supposed to be new to 1045 steel, right?'

She glanced at his face, shivering slightly at the expression plastered across it.

'Then why the hell is he moving like he's an old hand with it?!'

It was excitement.

The grin across his face, the glint in his eyes, the way he sat, and even the way he swung his hammer. Each and every bit of Izuku's demeanor seemingly radiated that one single emotion.

Overwhelming excitement.

'Fun.' Izuku realized right after the second hour had passed. 'This is fun!'

Izuku hadn't felt like this when it came to forging a blade since the time he had forged his first proper blade.

Learning how the metal heated, how it reacted to being hammered, how malleable it was at different heats. All of it was exhilarating.

He looked at the blade he had so far. It was in the shape of a katana, no doubt. The tsuchioki(blade) had been formed, the kissaki(tip) defined, and the nakago(tang) thinned.

The difficult part was approaching.

Creating the hamon(edge pattern).

Or in other words, having a flexible mune(spine) while having a hardened masaki(cutting edge).

Traditionally done by adding clay to the tsuchioki and having different sides of the blade cool at different speeds. The masaki was left without clay, which would lead to it cool quicker, creating a harder edge. The mune would be covered in a layer of clay, leading it to cool slower, which would create a softer, but far more flexible, spine.

But first, he needed to find some clay in the first place.

"Oi, Power Loader-sensei." He shouted towards her, startling her. "Do ya' have any clay for me to use?"

She narrowed her eyes before they shot open in realization. She huffed. "Of course you would want to go through the clay yakiire(quenching) process."

He grinned. "You should know that I don't go halfway when it comes to making blades, Power Loader-sensei."

She grinned back. "Of course you don't." She turned and walked towards the opposite side of the room, before she paused and looked over her shoulder. "And call me Maijima-sensei. My Hero name is too much of a mouthful." She turned back around and continued walking, leaving Izuku in a brief state of shock before he shook it off and continued to work.

Izuku kept his focus on the metal, getting to define the shape two more times before Powe- before Maijima-sensei walked back to him with a container filled with clay.

"Here you go." She placed the container next to him. "Holler if you need anything you don't already have."

Izuku grunted noncommittally before grabbing a small handful of clay and adding it to the surface of his tsuchioki. He then placed the clay covered tsuchioki into the furnace. 'I won't have enough time to do a proper clay covering.' He thought idly, grunting as he brought the slim piece of metal back out, folded it, and covered it in more clay before putting it back into the furnace.

'It'll be a bit shoddy, but it should be enough to harden it up a bit.'

He brought out the piece of metal one last time, surveying the exterior.

It was certainly in the shape of a katana, at the very least. The mune was made thicker than the hagane(edge), leaving a bit of room when it came to giving it a proper masaki. The nakago had a proper munemachi(spine notch) that lined up with the kissaki.

Izuku grabbed his punch, lining up the tip with the middle of his nakago, and slowly tapped his mekugi-anas(peg holes).

'Well,' He thought, wiping the sweat off of his brow after the punch had gone clean through. 'That's one of the more annoying parts done.'

He placed the katana into the furnace one final time and brought out a PVC pipe long and wide enough to fit the entirety of his katana in it, filling it up with vegetable oil for the quench. 'And one of the most stressful parts is next up in line.'

He waited, attentively watching the katana in the forge heat up to the perfect salmon color for yakiire, before taking it out and lining it up with the opening.

He breathed in. 'Here goes nothing.'

He plunged it in, getting a face full of smoke and fire before it died down. Izuku stirred it around a bit more, making sure it had properly cooled, before taking it out.

He inspected it, looking for any brittle points or cracks along both the tsuchioki and the nakago.

...

He found none.

He breathed a sigh of relief.

The hard part was over, and all that remained was the tedious portion of it.

As he sat back down, this time in front of a large, coarse, whetstone, he could only be happy that he still had about an hour to properly sharpen his hagane into a fine masaki.

Higari watched as the last seconds ticked down from her timer.

The alarm blared, signalling the end of the trial she had put the brat through.

"And that's time." She muttered softly, hearing the constant grinding of steel on stone halt immediately after the words were spoken.

The brat sighed in what she could only assume was relief, and placed the katana down on to a nearby table before stretching his arms out. She gave it a courtesy glace, before nearly doing a double take.

It was nigh-identical to the very blade she had asked him to replicate with an unknown material. Down to the length and to some of the imperfections he had noticed.

And yet... the imperfections she saw on the new blade seemed more... aesthetic in nature.

She glanced at the brat again, who was still stretching out his arms, before looking back at the blades again. 'How in the-?'

She was cut off from her thoughts when Izuku began to talk to her.

"So," He looked between her and both of his blades. "How are ya' gonna test my blades?"

She blinked a bit at the sudden accent he had, before shaking her head and picking up both blades.

'They even weigh the same.' She thought a bit deliriously, before she spoke. "I'll give them two tests. The first will be a durability test, and the second will be a cut test."

She walked over to the pillar of high-carbon steel she had set up previously for the durability test, along with the two rolled up tatami mats meant for the cut test.

With the wrought iron katana in hand, she walked up to the steel pillar and raised the katana up.

There was a beat.

She inhaled, taking a step forward and swinging the blade down-

There was a horrible grinding sound for a moment before it ceased.

-and cut half-way through the pillar before coming to a stop.

She froze.

'H-how-?!'

She had used a decent portion of her strength, yes, but nowhere near enough to yield these kinds of results with a normal katana-

But was this a normal katana?

She paused at the thought, idly taking the katana out of the pillar and looking at it.

She frowned.

It was quite horribly chipped, with several chunks of the edge being entirely missing.

Moving over to the tatami mat, she raised the blade up yet again before cutting down with it at an angle.

It cut through, but left a rather ripped mat half rather than the clean cut she was looking for.

Moving to return the blade to the brat, she noticed the lack of surprise in his eyes. "You expected that, didn't you?" She accused.

He nodded, little more needing to be said, and handed the second katana to her.

She grabbed it, and there was an inexplicable feeling that she couldn't put her finger on.

It felt... fuller.

She walked over to the pillar in a slight daze, overwhelmed by the blade she held, and fell into the same stance as before, katana over head.

She brought it down.

There was a metallic ringing sound-

And the blade cut all the way through the extremely hard, high carbon steel pillar.

Her jaw dropped, and she shakily looked at the edge of the blade.

Flawless.

She moved over to the tatami mat.

She brought it up.

She cut through the mat like an executioner's axe.

A clean cut.

She looked over at the brat- at Izuku with shock riddled all across her face.

He gave a smile that was on the edge of becoming a smirk, and asked her a question.

"So... do I pass?"

She looked incredulously at him for a heartbeat, and burst out into uncontrollable laughter.

A minute passed.

Then a second.

Higari Maijima looked at Izuku Midoriya with a wide grin on her face.

"Welcome to the U.A. University's Support Department, bra-" She shook her head. "No, Izuku Midoriya."
