'well it's been almost another month. Jeans still looking into who on the force might be the sin eater, yuri watanabe has been weird around me almost like she's trying to decide if I'm actually her enemy. Georges shoulder is fine and everything apparently it was just a flesh wound but gwen and I have been distant with each other lately, she doesn't even want to kick my ass at her gym anymore. Still no sign of goblin and I can't help worrying what he's got planned but hey tommorow is the first day of spring break!'
Over at the osborn penthouse the trio are once again hanging out while trying to come up with a plan, but unlike last month where gwen was sitting on peter's lap all snuggled up, this time they were just sitting around a foot apart completely detached. "So you guys wanna go to Florida or something?" The wealthy young man suggested out of both boredom and the need for a distraction, mostly boredom. While gwen perked up and immediately agreed, Peter on the other hand did not. "You know I can't just leave like that harry, not with everything going on but you guys can go if you want. Peter could no longer pick up on when his girlfriend was upset 'is he for real?! We both know harry liked me but my boyfriend has no problem with me going to Florida for a week with HARRY?! Oh no!' the blonde internally ranted as she stomped up and out the door, Peter barely even noticing.
About 10 minutes later the heroic young brunette suddenly asked "hey where'd gwen go?" As if he only just noticed that she wasn't in the room or the whole penthouse for that matter. In confusion but with a hint of horror on his face the young osborn answered "uuhhh… dude she left like 10 minutes ago?( Before his expression then changed to concern) where is your head lately buddy?" "Just dealing with a lot you know" the wall crawling teen answers his best friend a little too quickly, trying to play everything off like it's no big deal. "I told you pete I can help! If you'd call in the goblin knight more often you wouldn't have to deal with these burdens alone. You're not alone in this!" Harry desperately pleaded with his friend but alas it was just meant to fall on deaf ears.
When Peter arrived at the bugle office the next day the crazed owner and former journalist was going on and on to all the employees about a mysterious reptile man stalking around the sewers 'it can't be… no he wouldn't…! Would he?' suddenly jameson turned his full attention to the recently arrived camera guy "PARKER! YOU WERE ASKING ABOUT A RAISE LAST WEEK RIGHT!? WELL GET FOOTAGE OF THIS ALLIGATOR IN THE SEWERS AND WE'LL TALK!" "Sure thing mister jameson but I actually asked for a raise like 4 months ago…" the hero timidly corrected before heading off towards Curt's home.
"Ah man the place is trashed! Why would doctor connors become the lizard again!? Unless the antidote just didn't take…" Spidey then proceeds to head into the sewers right below the connors house. As soon as he set up his camera he turned to see someone standing behind him, the lizard is back but now he seems much more evolved, more human. The large snout and sharp spikes on his back was replaced with a more serpent like nose barely sticking out more so than humans. He basically looked like a character out of mario video games. The biggest surprise was when the lizard spoke "ssss…. Spider-man….! You are not welcome down here in my kingdom!" 'what?! The lizard talking!? He could never do that before!'
"Doc? Doctor connors you in there? How did this happen to you again?" The hero asked while keeping his distance. "Connors job, connors family, all abandon connors! Only thing connors have left is lizard!" Now that was a surprise, big white eyes widening "what!? You deliberately turned yourself back into a monster?!" "Lizard not monster! Lizard cure!" The scale skin covered man whaled while swiping his razor sharp claws at the red and blue web headed hero.
It was a perilous fight, insane stakes, rising sewer water as the amazing spider-man fought hard against the lamentable loathsome lizard all to try and save the man within. "Connors no more, only lizard!" "No! Doctor connors is still in there! He's still got his life to live! I'm not giving up on you!" "If you don't give up on connors than spider always fail!" The reptile declared before tossing the hero down a sewage waterfall. When he returned to the spot the lizard was nowhere to be seen. Webbing the camera back over to him "there's no way I can show jameson this footage. It will expose doctor connors and I can't do that to him!"
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU DON'T HAVE ANY LIZARD FOOTAGE?! I NEEDED FOOTAGE OF THIS THING FOR MY NEWS REPORT TOMORROW MORNING AND YOU GOT ME JACK SHIT! GIVE ME ONE REASON WHY I SHOULDN'T FIRE YOU PARKER?!" the load mustache man berated while the young man just hung his head in shame before walking out, hopefully still employed later.
Right before Spidey met up with jean,gwen texted him "harry went to Florida, probably shoulda went with him. ? What's the deal with us lately? ? We NEED to figure it out FAST." 'well she's not wrong. I just hope we can salvage us before things get any worse.' landing in front of her on the roof, after doing a show offing flip, "captain. How's the search coming?" "Honestly pretty slow. I can't accuse anyone at this point but if I were to take a shot in the dark detective carter is the most likely. I'll keep my eyes open regardless." "All we can ever really do captain. Hey where's detective stacy?" The hero asked after looking around. "Ha. He and his daughter left for Pittsburgh tonight, to see some family I think." 'why didn't gwen tell me? Wow we really are drifting apart this time' "goodnight captain. Stay safe!" He yelled out saluting before swinging off.
"This sin eater must be dealt with! He's taken out too many of my profitable thugs. It's time to end him, this lunatic running around is simply bad for business." The wealthy large bald man shouted to himself while in the confines of his fancy office and expensive computer monitors.
A/N well here's this... I know I'm skipping around a lot now but it's either this or chapters and chapters of needless filler…? Your call. Peter and Gwens' relationship is starting to REALLY fracture now as he becomes more and more distracted by his hero life. The lizard is back, more evolved than ever and on the loose. Peter's bugle job is up in the air. The sin eater investigation is in full swing and the goblin is still missing. Until next time true believers!
