Chapter 16:
From her cell, she hears the screams of agony, Aiden's screams of agony, pain, suffering, he suffered before, but not as much as the Wraith incident. He dealt with multiple forms of torture during his 13 months at Atlantis, the Wraith, Genii, parasites, horny Pegasus native women, Bates, IOA, even NID. He dealt it all. But he always seemed more, mature and darker after every incident. It scares her.
"He'll be fine, he dealt with worse shit before." Brogues tried to assure.
"I know, but I still worry.".
"He did change, a lot, I mean, last time I saw him, he fought the replicators." Stevie points out, he hadn't seen his friend in over a year, but it's as if the guy had a complete personality change!
"He uhmm, he survived many occasions, where most of our soldier died in service." Brie chokes, remembering how her brother died, not in the Pegasus, but in Afghanistan during the war.
"His nanites?" Asked Stevie, he knew his friend atleast that much.
"Something like that.".
"But I thought those things were dead or something.".
"They're a part of him, dumbass. He can't survive without him.".
"Shit." That was all Stevie could say. "I never realized.".
Brie starts laughing hysterically, "Of course not, you abandoned him when he needed someone to talk to, and now, here we are, you trying to get on his good side! Some friend you are!".
Ouch, that hurt Stevie really hard, but she was right, where was he when Aiden needed him? Hiding, like the coward he is. "I am sorry.".
But Brie didn't buy it, "Oh you are? Okay, then why are you apologising to me?".
Stevie was silent again. "I don't know. But you must love Aiden a lot. More than Gabriella did. She ditched him when she found out his secrets as well. Guess we both were cowards.".
Gabriella, why does she recognize that name? "Gabriella? The girl who called me Aiden's bitch?".
Stevie choked on his breath, "What? She would never say something like that! Unless… oh shit.".
"What?".
"She's jealous. Girl, you got a problem.".
"Oh no shit, thank you for stating the fucking obvious!". Brie was super pissed, mostly because she feels useless knowing she couldn't help Aiden. "Now, how the fuck do we get out of here!?".
"Look up.".
The vent in the roof pops open and Kai looks in, "Quick, no time to lose.".
Tossing down a rope, they make their way into the ventilation system, Kai leading. Brie right behind him, although curiosity got the better of her, and she took a peek at his backside, shit, it looked exactly like Aiden's! 'GET YOUR HEAD TOGETHER!'.
Brogues, was doing the same, except, he was staring at Brie's a backside. 'Holy fucking shit balls.'. She sure does have a fine one.
Oh, Aiden was gonna kill him.
The vents lead them all the way to where Aiden was being kept, he was being tortured indeed. But every time the torture stops, Aiden would laugh half-heartedly, "Oh please, I experienced worse.".
Brie couldn't believe it, he was mocking his torturer, what in the Lord's Universe made him do something as dumb as that!? But, how are they getting him out?
Kai had a plan, opening the vent, he jumps down, grabbing the power cords and breaking them. Nirrti looks all shocked at her supposed to be weapon, "Shol'va!".
"Whatever!" Kai snorts, grabs his gun and fires at Nirrti. She flies right out the window, and her screams are heard as she falls to her death, down a canyon. "False god!".
Aiden get released from the tube, but collapses into Brie's arms. "Ouch. I think I got electrocuted.", that's him alright, always the last laugh.
"Let's get you out of here. Don't you ever scare me like that again.".
