Snippet 09- Meeting The Monsters (Part 3)

At the side of the village opposite to where Vert's hovercraft had set down, a trio of lowlifes wearing bandanas to mask their faces had just finished the climb up the steep trail. "Alright, boys! That fish monster's not gonna stop us this time! Let's pick this place clean!"

"You got it, boss!" the other two agreed. But as they approached the entrance, a large spear suddenly hit the ground before them!

"I think not, gentlemen!" The bandits looked up, the color draining from their faces as Green Heart floated down. "I will give one chance to turn around and leave in peace..."

"G-Green Heart's here?!" One of the bandits gasped.

"No way! This has to be a trick!" the leader shook his head. "Ain't no way the CPU herself would be all the way out here! Let's get this fake!"

"...Foolish miscreants. Don't say I didn't warn you," Green Heart said as she pulled up her spear, before flipping it around.

*Two turns later...*

Even using the blunt end of her spear, it had been an utter mismatch, the thieves now lying sprawled over the ground. "Damn it... she was... the real deal..." one bandit grunted before falling unconscious.

"I was beat up by Green Heart... I can die happy now," another bandit sighed with hearts in his eyes.

"Uuurgh... damn that flower..." the bandit's leader grunted. Just then, Flowey popped up nearby!

"Howdy! Oh, did I fail to mention that the goddess was visiting the village today? So sorry... NOT." Flowey gave an evil grin. "Boy, you really ARE an idiot... Did you REALLY think you could trust me again after last time?! Oh, well... it was worth seeing that look of utter defeat and despair on your stupid face!" He promptly let loose with an evil laugh more fitting of a demon than a plant...

"Dammit...!" the thug groaned before passing out as well.

"So this WAS your doing," Green Heart said in disgust. "How utterly cruel of you! I think it's time for some pruning!"

"P-pruning?!" Flowey gasped, Vert's spear just missing him as he burrowed back into the earth!

(Flowey ran away.)

"Aw, man! We were too late!" Undyne gasped as she and the others arrived on the scene, though Alphys seemed out of breath. "Darn it, I really wanted to see the goddess in combat!"

"Hmm, dealing with these bandits so swiftly... I think this truly proves that she's the goddess she says she is," Asgore observed.

"I just wish she was a bit more modest..." Toriel sighed.

"Yeah, Vert kinda likes to show off her body," Peach grunted. "But I've seen one or two CPUs who are even worse than she is..."

"Well, there's nothing wrong with being proud of your beauty, is there?" Vert said as she reverted to normal. "So, what shall we do with these bandits?"

"Eh, let's just chuck 'em back down the mountain trail," Undyne suggested. "That's what I did last time!"

"I have no problem with that," Peach agreed, picking up the bandit leader and heaving him though the air, his prone body tumbling down the steep incline!

Undyne then lifted up the other two thieves and threw them in the same direction. "And this time, DON'T COME BACK!"

*Further down the mountain...*

The coyote chuckled to himself. This time, he would catch that pesky roadrunner for sure! Looking down the road, he saw the telltale dust cloud that signaled his prey's approach, but before he could set off his trap, Flowey suddenly popped up!

"I think you might want to look up yonder," the flower suggested. The coyote looked up the mountain, to see the three human bodies rolling toward him! His feet scrambled as he tried to run, but too late, as he was swept up by the bandits, rolling down with them!

The roadrunner came to a dead stop in the road, watching the coyote and bandits roll by, the group soon going off a cliff over a long drop, hitting the water with a splash! "Meep-beep!" the roadrunner chirped in mirth, before dashing off.

"Well, that was mildly entertaining," Flowey chuckled evilly. "Note to self: avoid that goddess like you avoid that pudgy skeleton..."

*Back with Vert and the others...*

"Argh, this is so frustrating! I really wanted to see you fight!" Undyne complained to Vert.

"Well, now that we're outside the village proper, perhaps we can have a brief spar," the busty blonde suggested, twirling her spear. "Don't worry, I know how to hold back without killing an opponent, as those bandits can attest."

"...HECK YEAH! Let's do it!" Undyne exclaimed, forming a spear of her own out of water!

(Music- 'Spear of Justice', Undertale)

"We should probably stand back a little," Toriel suggested, she and Asgore promptly doing so, Peach joining them soon after. "Alphys, are you all right?"

"...yeah, just... out of breath from running so hard..." Alphys gasped as she lay on the ground, shifting herself so she could at least watch Undyne fight.

"Here I come! NGAHHH!" Undyne cried as she charged, Vert easily deflecting her attack, dancing around the follow up, looking like a ballerina as she easily evaded or parried all of her opponent's attempted strikes. "Hmph, not bad! But see how you like THIS!" Several spears of water were conjured in midair, closing in on Vert, but she managed to deflect all of those as well! Seeing an opening, Undyne thrust, only for Vert to jump and flip over her, before whacking her in the head with flat side of her spear! "OW!"

"You're overextending yourself," Vert critiqued. "A warrior should always be calm in battle..."

"To heck with that!" Undyne growled, charging at Vert again... but this time, when the CPU deflected her spear, she let it dissipate, sliding under Vert's weapon, attempting an uppercut! Vert barely evaded, managing to kick Undyne away... but the fish-woman conjured her spear again, sweeping low and managing to knock Vert on her butt! "Gotcha!"

"Sylhet Spear!" Vert intoned, Undyne gasping as a giant spear barely missed her, the distraction allowing the CPU to right herself! "Rainy Ratnapura!" She called next, Undyne managing to defend herself from the rapid-thrust skill, though her teeth were gritted from the exertion! Undyne then conjured several water spears which rapidly closed in... "Kinestra Slash!" Vert cried, all the spears, including the one Undyne was holding getting slashed into harmless water droplets, causing a minor rainfall over the area!

"Holy crap... how many slashes was that?!" Undyne gasped.

"Sixteen," Vert replied smugly.

"SIXTEEN?!"

"Oh my... I only saw eight," Asgore commented.

"That's probably Lady Vert's most powerful attack outside her EXE Drive," Peach stated.

"...Now then, I will give you one last chance to yield, before you get seriously hurt," Vert declared to Undyne, pointing her spear in her face.

"Please, Undyne!" Alphys pleaded.

"...Argh!" Undyne gritted her teeth, before reluctantly kneeling and bowing her head. "Okay, okay, I yield! ...THIS time."

(Neptunia Victory Jingle!)

"That's better," Vert nodded, letting her weapon dematerialize. "Don't sell yourself short, though, you're actually very good. Just not on the level of a goddess like myself."

"I bet Asgore could've made you break a sweat," Undyne grumbled as she stood up again.

"I would rather not. My days of fighting are over," Asgore demurred.

"As well they should be, Dreemurr," Toriel said curtly. "Anyway, if Undyne's got all the nervous energy out of her system, we should head back to the village now. I'd like to discuss ways you could help us integrate better with human society..."

"Certainly," Vert nodded, the group walking back toward the village proper...
