Chapter 93: The Final Exam Arc, part. 1
The next day everyone in the class was told to meet at a certain building on UA grounds in their hero suits with no other explanation from their teacher. After shrugging it off and making their way to the building in question in uniform, they were somewhat shocked to see the entirety of UA's staff standing on a raised stage. Aizawa was the one to answer general questions before explaining in vague details what was happening. Details Gar and a few others weren't listening to.
Jiro, who wasn't paying attention, asks Gar, "So what's with this whole meeting in our hero outfits?", Thinking he knew something already.
Gar sighs and says back, "I have a bad feeling about this."
As if their silent conversation was overheard, Nezu, who was in Aizawa's scarf, popped out and cried, "You will be taking your final exam!"
To the surprise of no one, everyone was shocked to see their principal appear out of nowhere.
"How long was he in there?", Momo inquired.
"Why is he there?", Iida asks.
"The principal?", Kaminari stated, just realizing his appearance.
"The feeling is getting stronger.", Gar says in a low sing-song tone.
"Principal Nezu, what do you mean by final exams? Isn't that a test?", Izuku asks aloud.
"Normally yes, but here at UA we have something much different.", Nezu told him.
The hairs on Gar's head stood up as he grumbled, "It's getting to its climax."
"You all will be under a movie villain attack against…", Nezu drew out before exclaiming with excitement, "The staff of UA!"
"I knew it.", Gar huffed in exasperation as everyone else stood in shock.
"All of you will be set into teams of two and either have to escape or capture the target with these manacles in the given time.", Nezu explained the general rules.
"Isn't that a bit unfair? You guys are pros?", Kaminari asked back.
"That is why your opponents will have a disability on them. In the form of these weighted restraints.", Nezu explained while taking out an unusual set of manacles.
As this was happening Momo was doing some fast math in her head and finally figured it out while speaking out, "Wait sir, you said groups of two. But there's an uneven number of us. How will that work?"
"One of you will be a team of three. With the teams now being shown!", Nezu told her while motioning to the jumbotron above their head, which had Rotoms face.
All before pulling up a huge diagram with all the young heroes' faces, placed together in groups of two. All the heroes looked at their teams and began to maneuver towards one another either being satisfied or somewhat disappointed in the lineup. People were also looking at who was in the group of three, hoping that one of them was seeing that strength was in numbers. Then the group was finally seen and it was with the three people that couldn't be put into a worse team.
"What!", Gar and Izuku shouted in unison.
"Oh you've gotta be fucking shitting me!", Bakugou yelled at the board.
"Bakugou, language.", Nezu lightly scolded him.
Gar moved forward and asked in a half-begging tone, "Nezu, there has to be a mistake. Surely you're joking? This is just a mistake, right?"
"It is not.", He replied casually.
"Can't it be someone else? Anyone else?", Gar's hand begged him, feeling nothing but dread at this event.
Nezu shook his head and told him, "They've all been specifically chosen for a reason, and it's not interchangeable."
Gar dropped to the floor and moaned, "Just my luck."
Bakugou, who was red as a tomato at this point, looked like he wanted to yell in opposition but knew there was nothing he could say that would change a thing. Izuku tried to approach and speak to him, but that led to the most likely outcome he expected.
"Don't fucking talk to me!", He snapped at the teen before he could open his mouth.
Izuku deflated to this response as Gar walked over to him, sighing in irritation he stated, "Well it looks like brainstorming is out of the question."
"Kacchan.", Izuku said in a small tone of equal parts worry and irritation as he clutched his chest, staring at his once friend as he walked out of sight.
From there the teens were led inside where they were taken into a large observation room with many monitors connected to many cameras around several different locations. All of which would be used to test the young heroes. There were several seating areas and a main control hub at the center of the many screens. After they were situated the first team was taken down to one of the many mock areas at one end with the Pro Heroes guarding the exit.
The fights went as such; Iida and Ojiro passes by the hair of their teeth, Mineta and Sero won in large part to Mineta, Sato, and Kirishima lost, Tsyuy and Tokoyami won with great teamwork and bamboozling their opponent, Shoji, and Toru win in large part to the girl, Todoroki and Momo won thanks to their great teamwork, Jiro and Koda won in large part to him, Uraraka and Aoyama won by the hair of their teeth and Uraraka's new fighting skills and spirit, and last was Kaminari and Mina who were not doing well at all.
Gar commented with some other people who stood by the spectator booth by the control hub, "Okay, all the other fights I understood so far, but Ashido and Denki vs Nezu!? Two idiots vs a genius? Who's the sadistic son of a Marowack who chooses this lineup? They're being set up to lose.", Aizawa, who was standing in the corner and smiling to himself, almost wanted to take credit until Gar followed up saying, "The moment I find out I'm gonna give them 4,000 years of pain."
Aizawa then retreated as slowly and inconspicuously as he could.
"Looks like Gar's right.", Momo commented while pointing at the screens that showed Mina and Kaminari running for their lives through a crumbling city.
"No surprise. Knowing the principal he's probably thought up several plans of differing degrees.", Iida agreed while putting in his own two cents.
"And pain.", Recovery Girl, sitting at the control said to them, causing everyone to look at her. "When Nezu was younger, He had horrible experiments done on him by humans and has kept a grudge since. So he likes to take opportunities like these to let out his more sadistic side.", She explained while sipping her tea as another monitor showed the Principle cackling like a maniac.
Gar cringed at this and so he decided to leave and have some quiet time with Izuku. The teen was sitting on one of the far benches deep in thought. Strangely he wasn't muttering like he normally does, which put Gar on edge for a bit. But quiet is quiet, so he sat next to him and took out his bottled tea while fixing his Electric Type hero suit.
"Hey Gar.", Izuku suddenly spoke out, making Gar hum in response while drinking. "I'm worried…about our exam.", He admitted.
"You mean with Katskui? Yeah, he'll be a handful with anyone we go up against.", Gar agreed with him while leaning back.
"Well actually he's not the only, thing, but definitely a big part of it.", He told him, making Gar side-eyed him as he continued, "It's All Might."
Gar looked confused by this but chuckled and stated back while taking another drink, "What about him? I feel bad for the poor Magikarp who has to face him."
"It's us.", Izuku said bluntly.
Gar spit out his drink in shock and after coughing he said, "Oh…", after a time of silence between them, Ghasold him, "We're screwed. We'll never win."
Izuku sighed into his hands as he stressed, "And that is why I'm worried. Knowing Kacchan, he'll just mess everything up….like he always does."
Gar put a hand under his chin and thought for a moment before offering, "Well how about we try and seek reason with him? Then after that, we cut our losses and make our plan."
"And by plan you mean run and hide.", Izuku drew out sarcastically.
"Bingo.", He replied while snapping his fingers. After taking another drink he yawned and said, "Man, I'm tired."
"Hey! What happened to the camera feed?", One of the other students asked as a few of the cameras went static.
Meanwhile, on the battleground of the mock abandoned city, Mina and Kaminari were still running for their lives as the city collapsed all around them.
"We're gonna lose!", Mina yelled while crying.
"Who cares about that? We're gonna die!", Kaminari yelled back at her.
"This is so unfair! Unfair unfair unfair unfair! Why'd they have to put us up against a genius?!", Mina complained as her legs ached from all the running.
"Stop complaining and keep running!", Kaminari scolded her as a large piece of a building crashed between them.
Meanwhile inside the crane wrenching ball on the far side of the arena. Principal Nezu was sitting in the driver's seat with a pot of fresh tea while watching the two young heroes run for their lives. He smiled at seeing their reactions of desperation and hopelessness.
"Yes yes, that's right. Keep running you two.", He chuckled sadistically while taking a sip. "Ashamed I don't have more time to play. I had so much planned for this exam. Oh well, I guess there is always class 1-B.", He said in a dejected tone.
"Oh you don't have to worry about that anymore little man.", A voice said to him, making Nezu freeze up and turn around in time for things to black out as his teacup hit and broke against the floor.
Back with the two heroes, they were still running for the hills when Kaminari noticed something strange. He looked around and saw that nothing was destroyed or continuing to be destroyed. After waiting some more and seeing nothing happened, he brought it up with his teammate.
"Mina, hey, hold on a minute!", He called out to the girl.
"Hang on!? We're about to be crushed by that sadistic mouse!", Mina yelled at him while trying to run even faster.
"But it stopped!", He yelled back as Mina started to gain ground.
"Huh?", The girl asked while coming to a skidding halt. She looked around with her friend and saw that he was right. "Wha-? What the? What happened to all the destruction?", She asked befuddled.
Kaminari caught his breath and replied, "Maybe he gave up?"
"Maybe.", Mina agreed but was not convinced.
"I wouldn't be so sure if that, UA chumps!", The two teens heard a voice call out to them.
Suddenly a smoke screen was dropped over the top of a toppled building, and the two teens stood by in confusion about what was happening. Was this part of the test? They hoped it wasn't, cause they didn't study for this!
"Prepare for trouble!", Called a female voice.
"And make it double!", Called a male voice.
"It's Team Rocket.", The two teens exclaimed.
"To cover the world in a dark devastation.", Spoke the female voice.
"Oh wait, wrong evil team.", Kaminari corrected himself.
"To sink our claws into the people of every nation.", The male voice called back.
"To denounce the goodness of society and proclaim its flaws.", The female voice spoke as the smoke settled, showing a purple F on their chest.
"To extend our shadow far and beyond.", Spoke the male as the settling smoke showed his purple F.
"Bonnie!", Bonnie introduced herself as the smoke revealed her.
"Clyde!", Clyde introduced himself as the smoke revealed him.
"Team Freak, a force you simply cannot deny!", Bonnie proclaimed.
"Surrender now or prepare to die!", Clyde demanded.
"Clefairy that's right!", Clefairy called out.
"Drift loo-loon!", Drifloon cried while floating above their heads.
"Team Freak!", The two teens cried out in a mix of shock and anger.
"That's right chumps! And we've got you right where we want you! Fairy.", Clefairy vexed them.
"Well, I'm sure Principal Nezu knows you're here and making a plan as we speak!", Mina shot back.
Bonnie smirks devilishly at her remark and tells her, "Oh? Well in that case, why don't you ask what's his brilliant plan, himself!"
The woman then drops a sack at their own feet and the squirming and bound-up Nezu pops out.
"Principal Nezu!", The two teens yelled in unison.
"Let him go!", Kaminari demands.
"Or what? You can't do carp! Fairy.", Clefairy vexed them.
"We're still top heroes!", Mina argues.
Bonnie chuckles and says to her partner, "You hear that Clyde? They say they're at the top."
Clyde also chuckled and answered, "I did Bonnie. And I also think they're at the top. Top of the bottom IQ chart."
"Well, you three are gonna be at the bottom! Bottom of…..of that building when All Might and Gar get here to kick your butts!", Kaminari tried his best at a jab back, feeling proud of his comeback.
"Oh I don't think you'll be seeing them.", Clyde tells them in a sinister tone, making the two teens grow concerned.
"We made sure to think of that ahead of time.", Bonnie confirmed.
"Let's just say herbal tea does wonders for sleep aid. Fairy.", Clefairy adds in, her face looming over with a boastful air of arrogance.
Meanwhile, back in the viewing room all of the people who heard this looked at All Might who was starting to teeter on his legs. Before they could say they did anything, the huge man went down like a ton of bricks! While on the other end, Gar was still sitting next to Izuku and appeared to be fast asleep with his head back and eyes closed. The green teen was trying his best to shake him awake but to no avail!
Back at the testing grounds, Kaminari and Mina grit their teeth in frustration as the pink girl demanded, "What do you even want!?"
"Isn't it obvious? We want UA to surrender!", Bonnie proclaimed.
"We have your precious Principal, and once we have you two chumps, we'll have more than enough leverage for the entirety of UA to bend their knees!", Clyde ordered.
"And then we'll tell Boss Bayo and get all the credit! Fairy!", Clefairy cheered.
"We'll be famous, we'll be loved, we'll be prompted for sure!", All three of them sang in unison.
"Drift loo-loon!", Drifloon added in cheerfully.
"Don't you have to capture us first.", Kaminari stated.
"Oh yes, we're getting ahead of ourselves.", Bonnie admitted in embarrassment.
"Clefairy if you'd please.", Clyde asked her.
"With pleasure!", The Pokemon chirped while pressing a button on a strange device.
Suddenly the whole area was filled with a strange screeching sound that was so awful and painful that it brought both young heroes to their knees.
"Ack! What's that sound!", Mina yelled while clutching her ears
Team Freak laughed at their pain and Bonnie explained, "Back in our world there's a weapon that's capable of sending out a frequency that affects individuals with the Pure Pokegene. A frequency that only they can hear and are affected by."
"And some of our scientists have concurred that the Pure Pokegene and whatever gene gives you a quirk are very similar. But they weren't able to put it to practice.", Clyde continues.
"So we decided to put that working theory out on a field test. Fairy. And they were right!", Clefairy summed it up.
"Then h-how come y-you're not affected?", Kaminari asked between breathing that he could feel in his vibrating lungs.
"We don't have a Pure Pokegene, that's why we're perfect for this job!", All three of them sang in unison again.
After this, the three of them scooped back up Nezu and brought out bindings for the teens with equally sized sacks. The two of them saw the villains coming for them, but they couldn't do a thing about it as they couldn't even move with all the noise making it hard to just breathe or blink.
Through grit teeth, Mina called to her friend, "Kaminari! We-We have to do something about that device. Otherwise, we're gonna get caught."
"B-But what?", Kaminari yelled back.
Mina thought fast and asked her teammate after seeing a rock and the device Clefairy held, "H-How's your throwing arm?"
"S-Sloppy.", Kaminari admitted.
She then took the stone, handed it to him in a particular way, and told him, "Then make it c-count."
Kaminari looked at the stone, saw what she meant, and nodded. Once the trio got close enough, Kaminari stood up with all his might, letting out a war cry that freaked out the villains! Once distracted, the teen threw the stone at Clefairy and just as expected, she used the device to block the stone! The rock bounces off the device and Clefairy looks it over a little too quickly before starting her boasting alongside her teammates.
"Ha! Was that the best you had?", Bonnie challenged.
Just then the machine sparks and Clefairy looks it over to see Mina's acid melting it through, before she could react the machine finally short-circuited and broke in a puff of black smoke!
The Pokemon threw off the device and yelled, "No! The device! Fairy."
When the noise ceased, Kaminari and Mina instantly felt as good as new and stood up in defense of the villains ready to fight.
Clyde growled and yelled, "You little chumps! You'll pay for that!"
"And you'll pay for kidnapping our principal!", Mina shot back.
"Wouldn't it be animal cruelty?", Kaminari asked.
Mina was about to discuss this with him until Bonnie cut them off and exclaimed, "It doesn't matter, you're still just a couple of chumps going up against adults."
"And their Pokemon! Now go GoGoat!", Called Clyde.
"You too Cloyster!", Bonnie joined in.
Two Pokeballs flew onto the field and out from them emerged two vastly different Pokemon. Gogoat is a quadrupedal, hooved Pokémon similar to a goat. The fur on its face is white with fluffy fur on the chin and the back of its head is dark brown. It has a black nose, red eyes encircled by black markings, a brown blaze down the middle of its face, and rounded ears. On top of its head is a pair of curving black horns that extend over its back. It is covered in shaggy, brown fur that is darker across the back and lighter around the belly and legs. Around its neck is a thick, green leafy mane that extends down its back and ends in a short, bushy tail. The fur on its legs is shorter than the rest of its body; it is dark brown on the upper leg and white around the feet. Each foot ends in a cloven, brownish-orange hoof.
Cloyster is a black bivalve mollusk Pokémon. It is encased inside a light-gray shell, which is surrounded by a second jagged, blue-violet outer shell casing. It has one barb-like spike protruding from above its head, and multiple conical horns on its outer shell. Its shell is harder than a diamond with even harder spikes; harsh tidal currents will affect the size and sharpness of these spikes. On its pearl-like face, it has two white eyes and a mouth. Aside from its face and head, its internal anatomy has never been seen. Once it has shut itself in, it is impossible to open its shell from the outside.
The two Pokemon let out their cries and get ready for battle against the two teens.
Mina already starts leaking her acid as she says, "Get ready Kaminari! This is our first real test!"
"Real test?", Kaminari questions while looking at her weirdly. He then blows a raspberry and says in a nonchalant tone, "Come on Mina. You're overreacting. The worst is over with that machine."
"They still have Pokemon.", Mina argues back.
"But you know what Gar said, right? These guys are idiots.", Kaminari says calmly with his arms behind his head as Team Freak yells at him. "Speaking of such, I'm pretty sure Gar's just blowing steam out of his nose. There's no way a goat and a clam are that strong.", The electric teen says with an eye roll and a hand wave.
The trio quickly realized they were being ignored and Clyde called out his Pokémon to attack! While he wasn't looking, GoGoat rammed into him from the side and sent him flying into a wall!
Mina quickly ran after him and looking down on him in the rubble she asked him rhetorically, "You were saying?"
"Okay….I take it back.", Kaminari squeaks out in pain as he is helped to his feet by the girl.
Only for the two of them to look back at their new test ahead and hope they could pull through or buy enough time for help to arrive. Whatever it was, now was their time and chance to prove themselves!
Hey guys sorry for the wait. I just needed a short break and I've been strapped for time. But I'm back for however long. Anyhow, since I've had a little down time, I managed to write up a new story! I already have 12 chapters made. They're short but fun, and I had lots of fun writing them. I'll give more info in case your curious about it. So I'll be posting one each day.
