When he came to next, it was only because the harsh sun demanded it of him. His head pounded and the back of it was sore, like he'd been knocked really good by something or someone ...
Link sat up abruptly.
"Oh good you're up! Sorry to knock you like that pal, but you were kind of freaking me out." Bozai rubbed the back of his head sheepishly and offered a small smile.
"What ... ?" Link rubbed the back of his head with confusion. Before Bozai even had a chance to open his mouth however, the prior night came back and realization whacked him good and hard.
Right ...
Link rose to his feet. "Sorry about that," he was still mumbling out of sheer embarrassment. "I didn't think anyone was nearby."
The latter waved a hand. "Nothing to worry about, we've all been there pal. Guess I knocked you a little harder than I originally intended, you've been out for nearly two days. But don't worry! Gartan and I have been keeping an eye on you. You had a lot of blood on you so we cleaned it off ... not to be weird or anything ... but that seemed to be causing you distress so ... " He was beginning to mumble too.
Blue eyes turned down to his hands. Cleaned. Not a trace of blood on them.
The atmosphere was beginning to get a bit awkward so Link picked up his armor from the ground and carefully began to do the clasp. "I have a friend staying in the town — "
"A friend?! A girl friend?! Oh, please, tell me more! Is she beautiful? What's her name?" Bozai all but gushed immediately, cutting Link's inquiry off all together.
He didn't mean it, but his eyes furrowed and he reflected a mild glare to the other. "She's injured. Badly. I rode far to get her here so she could get proper attention. Have the guards come looking for me? They were supposed to update me on how she's doing ... "
Bozai shook his head. "Sorry pal I haven't heard anything. You can go ask, there's always guards posted at the entrance. When your lady friend has recovered, you wouldn't mind introducing her to the man who saved you from your mental undoing, would ya?" His chest puffed up and he offered Link what he supposed was supposed to be a dazzling grin.
Link winced. "Thanks for your help." Was all he said before gathering his things and ducking out from under the tent. Before he walked away however, he paused and glanced over his shoulder.
"To answer your earlier question... she's... "
He searched for the right word. Of course Zelda was beautiful, that was obvious to anyone who laid eyes on her. But her qualities extended far beyond what met the eye. She was the smartest person he'd ever met, always eager to understand the simplest and most complex things. She was caring, selfless, understanding and... simply stunning, to put it frankly. But words did her no justice for she was all of that and so much more.
"She's breathtaking."
