Chapter 1
He had a vivid dream.
Kiyoshi would had this dream every so often, but he didn't know what it meant, nor did he understand the dream was trying to tell him something. But it was always the same.
He remembered when he was shown the wreck that is Shibuya. The destruction of the city and decay of a once thriving place. But then, he would see Sukuna standing above it all, looking over the chaos that he created.
"Why did you do this!" Kiyoshi shouted at him.
Sukuna merely turned to him and said. "Because I could," but the tone he spoke, it wasn't to brag or anything. His face remained stoic and yet, he peered at Kiyoshi oddly, observing him. "Besides, this is nothing compared to the damage you could do…"
Kiyoshi didn't understand, until… he felt the surging power course through him. Raynn's energy that filled his body, bringing him strength he never knew possible. Until… he erupted with it.
The power surged out of him, and it when every which way without control. There was smoke, dust and then, silence.
When everything settled, Kiyoshi froze.
There was nothing around him.
He erased everything on a whim and yet, he didn't feel bad about it! "Oh… Oh this is nice… I am capable of at least doing this…" he heard Raynn's voice come out of his mouth, in fact, Kiyoshi had no control over himself as Raynn took over his body.
He cackled aloud to it all, the city was no more, but his power didn't just affect this city, he could feel the damage had spread. In fact, it was Sukuna who still lingered and stated. "My domain merely goes as far as 250 feet… yours can take over half of Japan and erase it."
He then felt it, Kiyoshi could sense the damage he has done, and could feel so many lives lost in a single moment.
Raynn, however, was smiling. "So, I am a bigger threat than you?" he asked.
Sukuna nodded. "You always have been."
He would suddenly sit up, in a cold sweat, Kiyoshi felt breathless. He inspected his body to ensure everything was okay. Much to his relief, at the same time, he began to worry. This dream was happening more and more often, and yet, why is Sukuna within it? Is he there as a warning?
What of Raynn too?
The fact he is capable of such destruction.
That being… is within himself…
Kiyoshi sat in his bed, wondering if he is strong enough to keep Raynn under wraps. 'Maybe if I start to learn to control this better, I can keep better control over him…' he thought to himself. After all, he has been feeling Raynn bubble up more often. Even when he is suppressed, Raynn finds a way.
He has been tempted to speak with his father about this, however. Dad has been busy. The twins have taken up his time, but also, he isn't sure if his father could truly teach him anything.
But, there was someone he could ask.
"Tenko?"
In the corner of his room, a pair of yellow eyes shined in the darkness. Then, he emerged.
Tenko, the fox guardian.
He smiled warmly to him and bowed. "Young master, it has been a while has it not?" he asked.
"Sorry to call upon you at this hour…"
"Think nothing of it… you appear worried…"
Kiyoshi sat at the edge of his bed. "I'm… a little worried. I can feel Raynn gaining strength within me. But, it's not sitting right with me at the moment. Have I been making him stronger?"
Tenko nodded to him. "I have been observing you train. You have been very diligent when you practice, at the same time, you have respect for the element you are manipulating. That alone has helped your progress."
"But it is making Raynn stronger, I am concerned that… if I continue to get stronger using his power, the more Raynn will be able to take over me…"
He peered at Tenko who was rather silent, until he took a seat next to him on the bed. "Young master, just remember, Raynn is a dragon who is a coward." He said bluntly. "Being such a way, he doesn't venture too far from his own comfort. So, anything that would be a risk to his life, he won't take. However, you live in a very secure environment. There is little in the way of threats to you considering your father as well as those around him…"
"Dad said that the last time with Sukuna…"
Tenko nodded. "As powerful as one may be, they have to understand there are still things in this world that can harm them. Your father, as optimistic that he is, needs to be made more aware of that."
Kiyoshi nodded. "Can I tell you something?"
Tenko nodded to him. "I've been having a dream, and it keeps coming up when I fall asleep. Before it would only be once and a while, but I have this dream more and more as of late. I'm in Shibuya, and I see the destruction Sukuna had caused. He was there too and said he did this damage because he could. But… I could do worst than what happened in Shibuya. Raynn suddenly takes over… I couldn't control him and… and he destroyed half of Japan!"
Tenko appeared worried as Kiyoshi continued to explain that Raynn was impressed with his power and he didn't regret the damage he did.
"I worried, since in my dream… he took over me without a problem… what if he can really do that in the future? I know I am like my father, but at the same time… I'm not my father either… this isn't Sukuna who I am up again!"
He peered at Tenko for an answer. He was oddly silent on the matter until he said. "A dragon is greater than Sukuna, you are aware and Sukuna himself wouldn't dare face down a dragon. Raynn maybe a coward as I said, but he is still a dragon. There haven't been any mortal besides a Tooru and your father who could restrain such a great creature. Even now, the Tooru body broke down over time tending to Ryujin. At the same time, I doubt they were aware of the curse uncle placed upon him."
"Ryujin was cursed?!"
Tenko nodded. "You should be made aware, any dragon who came from the heavenly realm that goes against the ruler is doomed to live a cursed existence. That affects most dragons. Lady Tiamat's family they are not fully cursed they are inflicted with various smaller ones that would make them living here very difficult. For Ryujin, since he gave up his physical form and had to reside in vessels, his curse was that his vessels broke down over time. Perhaps Lady Tiamat's uncle was hoping that the mortals who tended to him would fear death than try and help him… needless to say, thank the gods the Tooru family found him first."
"What about me? What happened to Raynn when he came here?"
Tenko smiled. "Well, at the moment, what he is now is how he always was, but to my knowledge, Lady Tiamat's uncle didn't care much for him either way. He was suppose to be used as leverage against her, or even fodder for the growth of other dragons…" Tenko paused as he peered at Kiyoshi oddly. "That, or perhaps the ruler of the heavenly realm did bother since Raynn was no threat to him. He was adopted into Lady Tiamat's family, he isn't blood related."
Kiyoshi nodded. This wasn't setting his mind at ease the least bit. "Why did I see Sukuna in my dreams?"
Tenko shrugged. "I cannot answer that for you, perhaps it is your mind associating what is happening to what had happened before. If anything, this may sound strange coming from me. But maybe, the Sukuna in your dreams is trying to warn you of a greater threat to you than himself. He did come for your life once before, to make you his vessel. His appearance may sign that you could be in the same situation, and he's warning you."
"I don't see why he would…"
"I don't understand either, but that is merely my take on the notion. But in the end, only you can decide what your dreams are trying to tell you."
Kiyoshi sighed. "Thank you for your help Tenko."
"Any time, Young master. I am always here for you."
He pause for a moment. "Wait, if that's the case, why haven't you shown up?!"
He laughed aloud. "Oh, I am helping my sister adjust to retirement, as well… you haven't called upon me. I don't interfere unless you need my help. As well, I am not supposed to be in your life consistently like before. You have a father now."
"Sometimes I wonder about that… does Dad even worry about me?"
"All the time" Tenko said without a doubt in his voice.
