Kibble scribble : Still short chapter for now. life is weird. considering shifting most of my stuff wholly to AO3 s Ffnet is making this odd for me. straight up will not let me get into things with my tablet. have to borrow my siblings computer to post, and it pisses them off. we'll see.

Louise and Montmorency looked out the observation deck window of the Telicherry. The window was tinted but they could clearly see land outside that were truly and utterly alien. Towers of stone and steel, a sky of pink and purple hues, a ring of glowing white and gold that encircles the entire world.

Of course the holes and smoldering craters in buildings and the distant landscape was a turnoff.

"Zirtisa is a colony only a few decades old," Talcu said as he walked into the room, garnering both girls attentions and making them realize another being had entered the room behind him as he spoke. "As such it has only modest defenses, hence why the situation here is what it is."

"Oh, well it still looks nice," Montmorency said as she glanced back out the window, I cant imagine how that ring in the sky must look at night."

"It sparkles brightly, when it is not raining stone on the colonists heads," The one behind Talcu said as he walked out into the open, revealing him to look like some sort of Humanoid Rat creature wearing very smooth clothing with amour plates upon it.

Both girls simply stared for a moment, leading the ratman to look dejected, until Louise spoke up with words that neither he, nor Talcu had expected. "So, are you the Ships Technomancer then?"

"Ah, yes, yes I am!" The rat man said as he took a step forward with a grin on his snout. " You may call me Gadge, Technomancer, and ship repair specialist."

"So you're the one Talcu mentioned," Montmorency said as she glanced at Louise, and then back to Gadge, " but um, I do not know of this is rue, but, what are you?"

"Ah, so that's why. I should have known," Gadge said with a sigh. " I am a Ysoki, a race often attributed as being similar to Rodents and similar mammals, as such many races find my kind, unsavory."

"Well, uh . . . um," Montmorency struggled to say anything, prompting Louise to speak.

" is there any other reason why people think thjat? Like rumors or a cultural niche?"

" . . . yes, I admit," Gadge said with a nod. "Many of my kind are thieves or those who take what they can. I however, have no such compulsions, I merely use my size to better repair the ship," Gadge said before smirking. "And melting down anyone who tried to forcibly board the ship of course."

In the next second Talcu smacked Gadge upside the head lightly. "Do not try to scare them, these girls have been through so much they will not yet be able to tell when one like you is joking or not,"

"Right, sorry," Gadge said as he rubbed the back of his head and then looked at both girls, "So, which of you had the Technomancer Potential?"

"That, is me," Louise said uncertainly.

"Excellent then let us,-"

"Wait a moment and let me explain," Talcu said as he stepped forward and put a hand in front of Gasdge's face with a shake of his head. He then stepped further into the room and sat down on the one side where he had been before, near some other benches and gestured to them. When both Louise and Montmorency sat down he began. "Girls, as you both has a understanding of magic, as awkward as it is, we do not need to begin at the absolute basics. As such we can instead begin teaching you the specifics of your individual proclivities for magic, what that means, and how they may change the outlook on your magic to allow you to utilize it or begin understanding it. Does what I am saying to you make sense?"

"Um, sort of?" Montmorency said in a sort of questioning tone. "What do you mean by our understanding of it?

"Ah, of course, those with different aptitudes or forms of magic, see magic and manipulate it in different ways. A Mystic will see and use magic in a different way than a Technomancer or Precog for example, and understanding how you might see magic is imperative to be able to use it," Talcu explained before glancing solely at Montmorency. "From what you have told me, your worlds thoughts on magic as similar to a Mystics, so I don't believe you will have much difficulty grasping the concept I will teach."

"But I will?" Louise asked instantly.

"Well, it will be a bit harder for you mostly due to your unfamiliarity with technology," Talcu said as he gestured to Gadge. "Gadge however, tells me that he knows a number of ways that he may be able to help teach you in a way that they will not matter. If you'd like to accept his teachings?"

"Wait? If?"

"Yes, well, his teachings would be different than my own so-"

"He's saying I'd need to teach you elsewhere kid," Gadge said with a smirk on his snout. "Observation deck's good for normal magic, but Technomancy wont gain anything from being taught here. I can teach you, but you'll need to come with me down to the maintenance bay."

"If you don't feel that that is something you feel you can do now though, we do understand," Talcu said as he gestured to Montmorency and Louise, "You both have been through a lot after all."

Both Louise and Montmorency shared a glance of uncertainty at separating at the moment, but eventually Montmorency nodded lightly. " I – I'll be fine if you want to."

Louise looked at Montmorency and nodded before looking to Gadge. "Then, please teach me what you can!"

"A'ight, Follow me then,"

"Louise, Good luck," Montmorency spoke up as Louise went to follow Gadge out.

"You as well."
