I don't own Naruto or any of its characters, I'm just a fan I enjoyed the anime but I love the fanfics, even more, they made me fall for the whole franchise. Whether I will have Oc's in the fic or not depends entirely on how the story goes.

Chapter 6

Sarutobi Hiruzen the third Hokage of the village hidden in the leaves had a rival who always challenged him, although he always won after a long gruesome battle his enemy knew how to return bigger and better than ever. 43 years and this battle has never been won.

"Stupid paperwork," Hiruzen grumbled as he signed another document and placed it to the side before picking up another and scanning through it. This one was from the police chief, Fugaku Uchiha asking for permission to start doing raids on locations of interest in the investigation that's been going on for the past 2 years.

Hiruzen had heard the rumors of an apparent Nara Ex Jonin who was building a criminal underground in Konoha. He had been quiet these past 2 years. Hiruzen did not know if it was due to the investigation or whether he was still running his strings of crimes and hiding it better.

The Nara clan had claimed it was not one of their own, and truthfully Hiruzen believed them. The scheme just sounded too 'troublesome' for a Nara to do. Though the ring leader was definitely someone smart or had someone smart working for them. There were no clues and the people who used the underground organization were tight-lipped even if they were cooperative there was nothing to tell, none of them had ever seen the guy.

Hiruzen stamped the request, approving the raids. They had to find these people or else he would have another root and Danzo in his hands ,The Root foundation was disbanded and Hiruzen made sure of it. He even had Danzo relocated to the fire capital to act as an envoy between him and the fire lord.

"Weasel!" Hiruzen called one of his personal Anbu. Not a second later an Anbu with a black cloak covering his frame and a weasel mask came into view as he took a knee and waited for his Hokage's orders.

" Take this scroll and deliver it to the police headquarters, make sure you hand it to the chief." Hiruzen placed the documents in a scroll and handed it to the Anbu who stood up straight and took the offered scroll.

"And weasel. Take a break, you deserve it my boy. You are dismissed after this assignment." Weasel bowed once more before disappearing in a puff of smoke.

Hiruzen sighed as he turned to look out of his office window as a stray thought entered his mind. 'I wonder what Naruto-Kun Is up to?'

Itachi Uchiha made his way toward the police headquarters as he jumped from rooftop to rooftop. He had changed out of his Anbu attire and was now in his normal clothing of a pair of ankle-length navy blue pants, a long-sleeved shirt of the same color with the Uchiha clan symbol on its back, blue ninja sandals and his leaf headband wrapped around his forehead.

Landing in front of the building, Itachi made his way to the entrance where two guards were posted. Wearing the usual ninja gear except their flak jackets were black and the Uchiha symbol on the shoulder of their long-sleeved shirts was within a 4-point star.

"Ah Itachi-Sama, greetings" The guard on his left greeted him with a bow which was copied by the one on his right. Itachi nodded in greeting as he stopped in front of them.

"What is the reason for your visit?" The guard asked after straightening up. Itachi just lifted his hand showing the two guards the scroll in his hands which had the Hokage's stamp on its front.

"A missive from Hokage-Sama." Itachi curtly told the guard who activated his Sharingan scanning the scroll to verify its authenticity, after a second he deactivated his dojutsu and nodded.

"You may proceed Itachi-Sama, sorry for the trouble but just following procedures." The guard said as he nodded to his partner who opened the double doors for the young Prodigy to enter.

"It's no bother," Itachi said as he walked through the doors sending a sideways glance to the guard on his right who opened the door. Though he was shorter than the man Itachi still made the older shinobi sweat.

When the door closed behind the Uchiha prodigy the guard on the right sighed and then sneered."Stupid prodigy thinks he's all that."He said under his breath.

"Don't let him hear you say that especially Fugaku-Sama compared to him Itachi-sama is a forgiving person." He warned his partner who nodded at the advice as he too knew such words would get him in trouble with the clan head.

Inside the building, Itachi made his way to his father's office, on his way he was greeted by those around busing themselves with work and or conversing. Reaching the office Itachi found one Shisui Uchiha sitting in a chair waiting for his chance to be summoned, in his hand was a green book.'The gutsy ninja' Itachi recalled.

"I see you are still bewitched by the book," Itachi said in greeting as he took a sit next to his best friend.

"Itachi!" Shisui closed the book and looked at his friend blinking, he hadn't seen him coming in and sitting down. "How did you get here?" Shisui asked him in bewilderment.

"I walked." Itachi deadpanned. "What is so special about that book, that gets you so entrapped?"Itachi asked Shisui with a raised eyebrow. Shisui laughed nervously as he rubbed under his nose with his index finger before a grin made its way to his face.

"It's interesting," Shisui said with a shrug, but by Itachi's eyes beckoning him to explain he sighed and continued. "I like the storyline, and the action and did you know the main character has the same name as our resident jinchuriki?"Itachi was interested in that last part.

"Who's the author of the book?"Itachi asked and Shisui grinned as he turned the book to its back showing Itachi whose eyes widened at the face grinning back at him in the picture. " Jiraiya-Sama of the sanin wrote the book?"Itachi did not know that then he thought about the kind of man Jiraiya was and frowned.

"It isn't porn is it?" Itachi asked and Shisui wasn't offended. Jiraiya's reputation preceded him as a pervert and the author of the infamous icha icha series.

"No, it's not porn, this is apparently Jiraiya-Sama's first published book," Shisui explained, Itachi nodded in understanding as the police chief's door opened and an elderly man walked out grumbling to himself.

"The both of you may enter." Came Fugaku's voice from the other side of the door. Itachi and Shisui nodded to each other as they stood, Shisui stashing his book in his pouch as they both entered the office.

"Good evening Fugaku-Sama" Shisui greeted his boss with a salute.

"Father." Itachi greeted his father with a small bow. Fugaku nodded and indicated for them both to sit. They both sat opposite each other facing Fugaku Uchiha.

"Itachi, I believe the Hokage has given you something for me." Fugaku said going straight to business. Itachi nodded and handed the man the scroll, which Fugaku applied chakra to, and in a puff of smoke, a document came out.

Fugaku already knew the contents of the document all he was looking for was the Hokage stamp of approval, which he found in the top right corner. Nodding to himself he placed it back in the scroll and threw it to Shisui who caught the scroll.

"The Hokage has approved your request, just keep it as quiet as possible."Fugaku told Shisui who nodded though the boy's smile left Fugaku with little hope of it being quiet.

"How has the investigation been going?" Fugaku asked looking at Shisui.

"Except for the buildings of interest, we have nothing more." Shisui explained with a frown "we did have a lead at the beginning of the investigation a man who had borrowed money from the organization. A Kazuki-San who had borrowed money to pay for his daughter's tuition fees, but it went cold when we later found out he had paid off his debts." Shisui explained, Itachi listened close by.

"All we know is the man placed a suitcase in a scroll delivered to him with a message of placing the money in the scroll and going to a designated area where he was instructed to release the content of the scroll." Now Shisui's frown was prominent.

"The man did as instructed, we tailed him and watched ready to jump whoever would come to collect the payment, b-but no one came, and when the man released the contents of the scroll nothing came out. After a second the scroll burnt itself." Itachi and Fugaku raised an eyebrow each at that.

"And did you question the man?" Fugaku asked to which Shisui nodded.

"Yes we immediately came out and apprehended the man but when questioned even under a genjutsu he had no answers for us. He had never seen the man before, the only thing we got out of him was the location of where the deal was made. When brought in for questioning again at a later date, he showed us a message sent from the suspect, it read. 'Nice doing business Kazuki-San.'" Shisui finished, that was strange indeed Itachi thought wondering how it was accomplished.

Fugaku hum'd as he rubbed his chin.

"Officer Shisui continue with your investigation you are dismissed, you too Itachi." Fugaku dismissed them as they both stood, Itachi walked out after a small bow, and Shisui saluted before following suit.

When Shisui made it out the door he looked at Itachi and grinned "You wanna hang? we could go pick your brother from the academy too." Itachi shrugged and nodded, the two Uchiha's walked away from the police headquarters.

Naruto walked out of the academy, stretching his limbs. The soreness had gone away now replaced by phantom pains he would forget about in a few minutes.

He took out his wallet and looked inside it was stacked and full, and he sighed. Hinata was gonna leave the fat wallet limp and dry if she had a say on the matter he was sure of it. Speaking of which, she was approaching him followed by Ino and Sakura.

"Naruto-Kun!" Ino exclaimed as she jogged up to him jumping into his arms while laughing joyously as he spun her around.

"Hey Ino-Chan" Naruto greeted the girl in his arms. "Still smelling like roses and honey, even after your match," Naruto said as he took the girl's hand in his grip and gave it a kiss. Ino had her free hand in front of her mouth as she giggled bashfully.

"Congratulations on your win by the way." He told her with a smile.

"Oh, it was nothing."Ino said as she interlocked their arms together, just as Hinata and Sakura arrived. Hinata had a dreamy look in her eyes and Naruto groaned as he knew what was going on in that head of hers.

"So what are we doing today Naruto-Kun?" Ino questioned her fellow blond who just sighed in defeat and pointed to Hinata who grinned so much like Naruto usually did.

"Well Naruto-Kun, owes me an all-I-can-eat buffet." Hinata said with sparkling eyes, as Naruto began comically crying on Ino's shoulder, said girl just patted the boy's mane of blonde locks.

"Oh I know, how about we all go! Naruto-kun's treat of course!" Hinata proclaimed and Naruto immediately stopped crying.

"W-wait w-what! You can't do that, that wasn't the deal." He said pointing his finger accusingly at Hinata. Naruto felt a tug on his shirt and turned to find Ino giving him puppy dog eyes as she batted her eyelashes at him.

"Please Goldie-Kun. I'm hungry from all the exercises today and I did win my match don't you think I deserve to be rewarded for my performance." Naruto did not last 3 seconds as he sighed and just nodded, Ino squealed in delight and kissed him on the cheek.

"Great it's decided, then. Are you coming as well Sakura?"Hinata asked Sakura, but before Sakura could answer she heard a cough behind her and turned only to blush when she saw Sasuke standing so close to her.

Naruto growled at the Uchiha but Sasuke ignored him and turned to Hinata.

"Hinata-San, I was hoping to have a word," Sasuke said addressing Hinata. Sakura felt a pang in her chest, ignored again she smiled sadly and looked down.

"Yes, Sasuke-San?" Hinata said as she tilted her head a little in confusion, and fixed her glasses to her face. Sasuke blushed at her cuteness before coughing into his hands to regain his composure.

"I was hoping, we could talk in private." He said looking past Hinata to see all the eyes on them. Naruto looked pissed, Ino looked conflicted he didn't know why and Sakura wasn't looking at them but rather interested in something on the floor.

"Actually Mac duckass, we were just leaving for lunch." Naruto replied for Hinata as he walked forward and stood in front of her dragging Ino along for the ride since their arms were still interlocked." So back off." He said with a sneer.

"I wasn't talking to you dobe." Sasuke countered.

"There he is Itachi! Yoh Sasuke-Chan over here!" Sasuke grumbled at the voice cursing under his breath as he looked to his side and sure enough Shisui and Itachi were making their way toward him.

"Sasuke-chan." Naruto snorted. Sasuke was gonna kill Shisui.

"Shut up dobe." Sasuke grounded with gritted teeth. Naruto just smiled.

"Sure thing Duncan Mac duckass," Naruto replied just a second before Itachi and Shisui came into hearing range.

Naruto recognized them both, he knew Itachi as the Uchiha prodigy and Shisui as the person in charge of investigating his dealings.

"Ahh Sasuke-Chan, we were looking for you. Who are your friends?" Shisui came up ruffling Sasuke's hair. Naruto smirked, he already liked Shisui. Sasuke swatted the offending appendage off him.

"What are you two doing here?"Sasuke asked with barely hidden anger, which Itachi acknowledged by raising an amused eyebrow.

"Is that how you greet family Sasuke-Kun?" Itachi asked his little brother, to which Sasuke scoffed.

"You might be family but this one is a pain in my ass," Sasuke said pointing at Shisui who only grinned wider with a twinkle in his eyes that promised more embarrassment.

"Which ass? The one on your backside or the one located on your head? Duncan Mac duckass."Naruto asked with a smirk he wasn't gonna let that opportunity slide. Shisui burst into mad laughter at that, Sasuke was fuming ready to jump the blonde, Hinata shook her head in exasperation, Ino punched Naruto on the shoulder and Sakura was a little angry at Naruto sending him a glare.

"A friend of yours Sasuke?" Itachi asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Something like that."Naruto replied before Sasuke could do so."Itachi Uchiha and Shisui Uchiha." Naruto said it wasn't a question.

"I'm Naruto Uzumaki, this is Ino Yamanaka, that's Hinata Hyuga and the girl with pink is Sakura Haruno. Were classmates of Sasuke." Naruto introduced himself and the girls. Itachi nodded acknowledging the introduction while Shisui was still catching his breath from laughing so hard.

"Dobe I'll break your face."Sasuke threatened, to which Naruto waved it off and grabbed Hinata's hand dragging her away.

"Come on Hinata let's go, are you coming Sakura?" Naruto asked while already walking away.

Sakura was at a crossroads did she go or did she stay? She made up her mind and decided she would be brave, so she built up her confidence and looked Sasuke in the eyes. Even the blush on her face couldn't break her determination as she opened her mouth and spoke.

"Would you like to join us Sasuke-Kun?" Naruto stopped in his tracks and slowly looked back at Sakura, Ino was squealing and jumping in place not paying attention to the fact Naruto was being dragged around left and right like a rag doll from her constant moving.

"Oooouuuu" Shisui said with a giggle as he bumped Sasuke's shoulder with his elbow.

"That's interesting," Itachi said under his breath with an impressed eyebrow raised at the daring girl.

Sasuke looked at Sakura for a long time wondering why she would invite him but when he realized he would be spending more time with Hinata he nodded.

"What!!!!" Came Naruto's voice. Ino smacked his shoulder giving him a stern look he grumbled something about cute girls and their 'get whatever they want Jutsu which should be forbidden' before replying.

"Fine! But I'm not paying for duckass." Naruto said as he turned and began making his way to where he knew the cinnamon shop was located.

"Go on Sasuke we will see you later." Itachi gave his little brother a little push towards the moving group, though Sakura was still waiting for him. Sasuke looked at his brother and then looked at Shisui in suspicion the older boy's smile did not sit well with Sasuke.

Nodding Sasuke ran to catch up with the group he got to Sakura and nodded to her as he ran on forward. The smile that blossomed on Sakura's face could have lit up a city skyline. She immediately ran along with him to catch up to the others.

Itachi turned and looked at Shisui who smiled broadly at the look Itachi was giving him.

"We're spying on them aren't we." He did not ask, he stated and by the raising of Itachi's eyebrow, he laughed nervously rubbing the bottom of his nose. "Right. Stupid question, of course, we are." Shisui grind as they both disappeared

Authors note

Well, that's gonna be one awkward lunch If there ever was any love triangle. And two talented ninjas coming along for the show. This arc is more like fillers with a few details here and there which will be used as plot points.

The scroll Kazuki used was one of Naruto's designs I believe in chapter 2 he was tinkering with the storage scroll and that is the result. He had Kazuki-San go to a specific location at a specific time and had him transfer the money without his knowledge.

Next chapter? maybe later today. I'm in a rush to get to the best parts of the story so 1 more chapter then we will be on our way to the genin arc and wave (sob) I want to write cool fight scenes
