p lang="en" style="margin-bottom: 0.35cm; line-height: 115%;"span style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;"span style="font-size: xx-small;"Commander Taylor stalked down Williams Street, his fists clenching tighter with every thud of his heart. White hot lightning pierced the mild air, illuminating every dirty corner of Terra Nova for a split second before plunging back into darkness. Ever since he'd watched Evie being stretchered from her house, her thin body swallowed up by his too large jacket, a redness he hadn't felt for years, had been simmering within him. Seeing Evie there on the floor, bloody, half naked, had bought the past all back again. It had only taken a moment to realise what had happened. He had seen it before. In Somalia. Civilians... abused and murdered. Ayani... Taylor cursed, his eyes flitting to the side as a flash of lightning lit up another house, revealing nothing out of the ordinary. He cursed again. He hadn't been able to save his wife from her terrible fate. He hadn't been able to save Evie either. A third curse got lost in the wind. He was going to make the man pay. He was going to tear Terra Nova apart, brick by brick, man by man if he had to. No one in his town would get away with what had happened that night. The punishment for murder was banishment. The punishment for rape was the same. He was going to make sure Evie got her justice./span/span/p
p lang="en" style="margin-bottom: 0.35cm; line-height: 115%;"span style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;"span style="font-size: xx-small;"Taylor turned towards the barracks, jogging up the steps and bursting into his office. Wash sat at his desk, studying a tablet./span/span/p

p lang="en" style="margin-bottom: 0.35cm; line-height: 115%;"span style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;"span style="font-size: xx-small;"Taylor eyed the blurry figure on the camera footage, desperate to recognise something, anything about the man. He could clearly be seen exiting Miss Danvers house, his face turned down the street, away from the camera mounted on the opposite fence. His clothes were black, a scarf covered his mouth and nose and his build was muscular. Fifteen minutes. Fifteen minutes Evie had been all alone with a monster./span/span/p

p lang="en" style="margin-bottom: 0.35cm; line-height: 115%;"span style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;"span style="font-size: xx-small;"Taylor sighed. "So someone in Terra Nova then? One of my people?"/span/span/p

Now someone we gave a second chance to, some scumbag throws it away and leaves us a note to brag about it?" Taylor shook his head and returned to his position at the window./span/span/p
p lang="en" style="margin-bottom: 0.35cm; line-height: 115%;"span style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;"span style="font-size: xx-small;"Wash watched for a moment, at a loss for how to reply to her Commander. There hadn't been many times she'd seen him like this. Normally, he was so calm and confident, ready to handle anything. She knew what the problem was. Ayani... Evie had bought it all back. He hid it well but she knew the shame of not being able to protect and save his wife still gnawed away at him. It's one of the reasons he was the perfect leader for Terra Nova. He knew what failure meant for people. How it would affect their lives if he failed them. /span/span/p
