Mother Wolf Ch. 03

A few weeks after the initial appointment and Toralei's revelation. Howleen now lays on a bed in a clinic with the werecat waiting in a nearby chair.

"Toralei!" the wolf ghoul looks over at the older teen who was looking through her iCoffin. "Thanks for coming. I didn't want to do this alone."

"Don't mention it, Kitten," the orange furred ghoul smiles at her. "It's not easy being alone for this stuff. Honestly though. I had figured you'd bring Twyla for this."

"I wanted her to come," Howleen admits. "But she's still uneasy about the last time we played hooky and she had promised to help Spectra go through her old photos today and see if there's anything worthy of a story."

It was then that the door to the room opens, and Harpy woman walks in with a skeleton nurse pushing a machine. "Howleen?" Harpy looks at the young werewolf sitting up on the bed. "Aren't you a little young to be here without your parents?"

Howleen opens her mouth, but no words came out. Toralei then says. "Oh!? Here!" and hands the woman a note. "It's a permission from her parents that she doesn't need them for these visits. I'm just friend and mostly here for moral support."

The Harpy looks over the note and briefly glances between the ghouls. "Alright then!" she pockets the note. "I'm Selene Feathery and I'll be your doctor during your journey. Now lie down and lift your shirt, Howleen," she tells the ghoul who does as said. "Being as far as you are, we might be lucky enough to hear a heartbeat."

"Really?" the wolf ghoul asks as and flinches when the nurse puts some gel on her abdomen. "Oh!"

Toralei snickers. "Forgot to tell you, that tends to be cold." The striped hair ghoul receives a glare from the pink haired one.

The doctor then takes a hand device from the machine and starts scanning over Howleen. After a few moments, Feathery smiles. "You're in luck," the doctor presses a button of the Ultrasound and that's when it could be heard. A fast steady rhythm.

Howleen gasps at the sound, she has no description for how it makes her feel.

The werecat's ears though twitch. "That sounds rather fast for a heartbeat? Even for a baby."

"You would be right," the harpy smiles at them. "However," she turns the screen around and points at three shapes on it. "One, two, three!"

Toralei's mouth made an 'o' shape and Howleen paled.

"I think I'm going to be puke," the wolf announces. "And it's not the morning sickness."

"I've seen that reaction a lot when mothers get this news. Especially new ones," the doctor informs them with a smile.

Howleen just lays there in silence.

Toralei worriedly glances and the younger teen before turning to the doctor. "May we have a moment alone, Dr. Feathery?"

The Doctor smiles and gestures for the nurse to leave and they took the ultrasound machine with them.

The younger teen ghoul sits up to allow the older teen to sit next to her. Then, tears start running down Howleen's cheeks.

"Kitten?"

"This is real, isn't it?" Howleen asks. "I'm going to be a mom."

Toralei chuckles, "Yeah. This is around the same time that realization hit me, Kitten," she then gives the younger teen a one arm hug. "I know you're scared. But just know that you're not alone in this. And whatever you decide to do from here on out, I'll support it no matter what."

The wolf sniffles and returns the hug. "Thanks, Toralei."

.oOo.

The two are now leaving the clinic, with Howleen carrying a large envelope. "Toralei," she turns to the werecat. "I want you to hang onto this for me."

"Really?" the cat's eyes widen as she takes the envelope, "But why? This is something you really should keep."

At this, Howleen shakes her head. "I can't risk it. I share a room with Clawdeen, and she tends to snoop around to see if I'd taken any of her stuff. I'm not ready to tell my family yet," her eyes sadden as she looks down. "Clawdeen is already wondering about the heavier clothes I've picked out recently."

Toralei nods as she understands the younger teen's situation. "You will have to tell them at some point. Having three little one's means that you'll show sooner rather than later."

"I know. It's just that I need time to figure out how to tell them." Howleen then has her hair ruffled.

"Don't worry, Kitten. I'm sure everything will be fine."

The wolf smacks the hand away and glares. "Would you stop that!?" The only response she received from the werecat was a smirk as they continued their walk.
