Mother Wolf Ch. 06

Howleen's mood improved after a week. She knew that ghosting Toralei was a heavy weight on her shoulders but could not believe how much was lifted after making up with the cat.

"Hey, Howleen," Twyla walks up her best friend. "My dad's going to be home for dinner tonight. So, I can't be with you while measuring," she glances down at Howleen's stomach.

Despite the heavier clothing, the bump is becoming a bit more evident, the layers are enough to hide what it truly is. Everyone thinks she's just putting on weight. She had a couple of mean comments thrown at her every now and then. Strangely, none of them came from Gory. They were certain that there would have been more, were it not for Toralei, Meowlody, and Purrsephone. All three have become good friends with both Howleen and Twyla both and all have been very supportive of the wolf ghoul.

"We could wait and do it tomorrow night?" the boogie ghoul suggests.

"Nah!" Howleen waves it off. "There's an away game. Meaning there'll be no one here. So, a look out ain't necessary."

"If you say so, Howleen," the boogie girl hugs her friend. "Take care, ghoul."

"Don't worry, Twyla. What could possibly go wrong?"

Later After School

Howleen strolls into the ghoul's locker room. Usually, she would be more cautious when doing this and afraid to be alone for it. But since there's an away game, the school is completely empty as everyone wanted to support the team.

As before, the wolf ghoul removed her top and measured the growing bump. "Man," she examines the tape. "You guys sure are growing fast," Howleen puts her top back on but soon stops before pulling the piece of clothing over her stomach as she catches a glance of herself in a nearby mirror. Her hands start exploring her belly. "You guys are going to be a handful. I can already tell. But either way, I can't wait to meet you," she smiles lovingly at her reflection.

"Howleen!?" Clawdeen's voice rings through the room.

Turning around, Howleen finds that her sister and the rest of the Fear Squad with Ghoulia standing at the entrance of the locker room. The ghouls' mouths are agape, and eyes widen at the sight of the youngest Wolf sibling's bare belly.

"What are you doing here!?" Howleen shouts back as she pulls her top down. "I thought there was an away game?"

Draculaura tells her. "It, it was cancelled last minute."

"That's beside the point!" Clawdeen snaps at the petite vampire before turning back to her sister. "What are you doing here!? And what is that!" she points at the midsection.

"I-I," the younger Wolf was unsure what could be said. She is completely unprepared for this.

Just then, Toralei's voice is heard from around the corner. "Hey, Kitten! Twyla was worried about you not having a look out so we—" the werecat stops as she, Purrsephone and Meowlody round the corner. Reading the room, they knew exactly what happened, "Uh-oh!"

The twins made a run for it, but their leader was grabbed. They peeked around the corner to see Toralei being slammed against some lockers by Clawdeen.

"You knew that my sister was pregnant, and you didn't tell me!?" the older sibling growls at the orange furred ghoul. "Why!?"

"She didn't want me to."

"So what? It's not like you to respect people's boundaries. You did this just to spite me. Didn't you!"

"No, I didn't!" Toralei hisses back only to have her head slammed against the lockers again.

"Then why!? Tell me!"

"Cause I'm the only one in this room who has any idea what she's going through!" the werecat shouts making the room go quiet. She then smacks the shocked wolf's hands away.

"Oh my, Ra!" Cleo exclaims. "Toralei. You…you're…"

"Yeah, yeah," Toralei waves them off and goes to Howleen and both sits on a nearby bench. At this time the twins come out of their hiding spot. "I had a kid before coming to Monster High. Let's just leave it at that."

After a few moments, the ghouls scattered across the room. Many unsure of what to do with the situation. Except Clawdeen who has been pacing back and forth, ranting.

"I can't believe this! I should've seen it though. You being more moody than usual. Sick almost every morning. Wearing more layers of clothing than any sensible ghoul would. The weird snacks. The obvious weight gain. All of it!" Clawdeen lists off.

Howleen looks up at Toralei. "My weight's not that obvious. Is it?"

"Oh," Toralei ruffles her hair. "Of course not, Kitten."

Clawdeen snaps at the werecat. "And what's up with that! You couldn't come to me as your big sister, so you decided to replace me!"

The rest of the Fear Squad snaps at the older Wolf sibling. "Clawdeen!"

"That's out of line!" Frankie says and Draculaura agrees.

"Yeah, Clawdeen!"

Howleen's eyes tighten as her hands grips the bench, doing her best not to cry.

"Tell her," Toralei whispers and the younger Wolf sibling looks up at her. "You need to tell her now, Kitten. Otherwise, it will keep hurting and it will never stop hurting."

With a sob, Howleen says. "No one can replace you. That's why I didn't want you to know. Because I was afraid of what you might say. You, telling me how much I screwed up like I don't already know. And that you might abandon me. All because of one stupid mistake!" At this point, the pink haired ghoul is now crying into Toralei's shoulder who hugs her comfortingly.

Cleo then comments, "If you were that scared then why didn't you get rid of it?"

"Cleo!" everyone shouts at the mummy, causing her to flinch. Even Ghoulia is glaring at her.

"I tried actually," Howleen admits as she starts caressing her belly. "I made an appointment and everything. But when they called my name, I left," she smiles. "There was no way I could have gone through with it. I'm disgusted that I had even thought about it. This is something that I actually want. Something that's my own, Clawdeen."

Clawdeen walks up to her little sister, kneels, and hugs her. "As stupid this mistake was. I will never abandon you, Sis."

Howleen lets out a sniffle. "Thank you."

"Don't mention it," the older Wolf sibling breaks away. "Now, tell me who the father is so I can break his legs."

"Uh, I rather not," the younger sibling starts avoiding eye contact. "He doesn't know. Nor does he even remember that night."

"How could he not remember that?" Draculaura looks up at the other ghouls who all shrugs.

"You know that party that everyone forgot about?"

"Know about it!?" Cleo laughs. "That was the best night I'll never remember," she boasts before noticing everyone staring at her. "What?"

"Wait!" Clawdeen snaps at her sister. "You went to that party?"

"Y-yes," Howleen answers hesitantly.

"I thought you were at Twyla's! If I'd known that's where you were going we could have—" she stops herself mid-scold seeing the scared look in her sister's eyes, realizing that she was about to say what Howleen feared she'd say. With a sigh, the fashion ghoul then says. "We'll discuss this later. For now, let's go home."

"Thanks for understanding, Clawdeen," Howleen hugs her big sister. "You're not going to tell Mom and Dad are you?"

"Nope!" Clawdeen answered, giving the younger ghoul a chance to sigh in relief. "You are."

"What!?" the pink haired ghoul breaks away from the hug.

"And Clawd."

"No! I can't do that!" Howleen takes a step back.

"You want me to tell them?" the older Wolf argued.

At first, the younger Wolf did not answer. She instead glances at the orange werecat. "C-can Toralei come?" That catches the said werecat off guard. "I'd feel better if she was there."

Clawdeen glares at Toralei who shrugs back. "Sure. But I'm keeping an eye on her."
