Chapter 3

'Zero' grunts with each movement, sweat drip from his forehead onto the towel he'd place on the floor, counting mentally.

A knock sound on his door, not pausing his motion for a second, he grants entry with a 'it's open'.

"I was wondering when you'd pay a visit" he spoke when he hears the door open, the person enters, then close.

"I see you're doing well, given our last encounter" the brunette states, burgundy eyes stare at the ex-human doing handstand pushups in the middle of the room, wearing only boxer.

'More than you could even understand' "Is this going to take long, as you can see, I'm busy" 'Zero' inquires, sounding distracted, (well, he's trying to distract himself from thinking about the male in his room, fearing his body would react embarrassingly, glad he isn't facing the pureblood) feeling self-conscious at sensing the vampire's eyes roaming his body, reddening pale cheeks.

"When was the last time you fed?" Kaname asks.

"Last night, he replies easily then with one final pushup, flip upright while grabbing the towel, if you're worried about a repeat incident of last time may occur, pertaining to that girl, the pureblood raises a brow at the venom that slip into the silverette's tone, I will be keeping my distance from her, worry not" he states moving to the window, pull back the curtain slightly to stare at the early morning rays.

"That seems hard to believe, Kiryu" Kaname retorts unconvinced.

"Why is it so hard to believe?" the ex-human inquires watching the sunlight shine through the tree leaves onto the dew-covered grass and flowers.

"To suddenly stay away from the girl you loved for four years, yes that sounds very believable, Kiryu" the brunette remark sarcastic.

'Zero' close the curtain, grip tightens on the towel dangling at his side, back still to the vampire, "I'm NOT. with her, he grits out suppressing his disgust, whether you believe or not is up to you, 'that girl is more trouble than she's worth', the only reason I attacked her was because I was stubborn about taking the blood tablets, (half-truth) I will be taking them from now on (not that he can nor will he) without a fuss as I'm sure father, -

-the pureblood brows raise at the endearing title, (a bit) surprise the hunter used it given past refusal in addressing the chairman such, adamantly, -

-had already told you, the reason for visiting is to get conformation, right?"

Silence reign for a few tense moment.

"Correct" Kaname confirms, staring intensely at the hunter, displease the teen refuse to look at him (with those defiant lavender eyes).

"Well then, I'm sure you can let yourself out, I'm gonna take a bath, 'Zero' walk the short distance to the bathroom door, before I forget, there's left over food in the kitchen, from what I made earlier, do whatever you want with it, don't read too much into this, I just don't want it to waste" he finish quickly slamming the door behind him.

Kaname was taken aback then a small smile grace thin lips, 'Takuma was right, something has change about him, I may still have a chance.'

Meanwhile the silverette leans heavily against the door then heaves a deep sigh when he hears his room door open then close, signaling the pureblood's departure.

'Honestly Zero, why do you have to be so complicated, is being honest with your feelings that hard, to redirect it onto his look-alike, that useless immature girl!?' he huffs throwing the sweaty towel into the hamper basket then walks to the shower instead.

In the early noon, 'Zero' went to his old room in the sun dorm.

Moving his old bed, he remove a section of loose floor boards, revealing a closed box with a seal ruin carved on the top.

'Zero' carefully takes it out then place back the boards and bed. Sitting on the bed, he rests the box beside him. Biting his thumb with a sharp canine, 'Zero' drip the blood onto the seal and watch it burn away (then stick the thumb in his mouth) the cut heal instantly.

Removing the lid reveals, a title less black notebook, a stack of cash, a black credit card, a cellphone, a rectangular pouch and two leather-like wrist bands.

First, he takes out the bands, puts them on.

Second, unzip the pouch, inside's fill with needle storage tubes, different color cap label each, secure on each side by elastic loops. (AN-color code- black; instant death poison, purple; paralyzing poison-bleed to death if not removed a certain way, yellow; paralyzing poison only, blue; slow acting-curable deadly poison, pink; non-poison.)

'Zero' place five of each needle in the barely visible holes on the bands, concealing them (they're specially, custom-made, acupuncture needles and band from the black market.)

Third, power on the cell while pocketing the cash and credit card. While the device boot, 'Zero' reach for the book then opens it, exposing blank pages.

"Right its charmed, he closes it, I'll review its contents later, now let see how the stock market's doing, he fiddles with the phone, placing the book aside then whistle impress, guess it was a good idea to invest, I made quite a fortune, he smiles at his bank account, (he made $800 billion yen and had $500 million-yen last time he'd check. He'd open the account for future, private, use for a comfortable life when he took over Zero's body, no one but him knows about the account), now to do what I'd plan for today" standing he pocket his cell, close the box, after putting the book and zipped pouch back inside, then leaves the room with the box in hand, heading back to the moon dorm, to leave in his new room.

Thirty minutes later 'Zero' left school ground (after setting up protective ruins in his room) beyond annoyed being accompanied by an unwanted presence.

When he'd went to Kaien to get permission to visit town, Yuki was there and since the ex-hunter wanted something there, he thought it a great idea for the female prefect to tag along to help carry the bags. The hunter agreed (reluctantly) to not drag out the situation, he has better things to do.

"Um, Zero are you mad at me?" Yuki's grating voice ask timidly, sitting across from him, breaking his thoughts.

They had stop at a café for lunch, their purchases resting on the seat beside them (he'd refused to carry everything.)

"Why would I be angry at you?" he asks emotionless, lowers the cup of milk coffee from pink lips, eyes narrow slightly.

"Then why have you been avoiding me since the…um incident on the steps and not telling me about moving to the moon dorm?" she ask, gaze lower, playing with her parfait nervous.

"Weren't you doing the same, he counters coolly, had you really wanted to see me you would have regardless, being your normally persistent (nosy and spoilt) self, you would have gotten your way, yet you didn't, he watch her flinch, I'm pretty sure father told you where I was but you stayed away once you found out I'm an unstable vampire, he sips his warm, sweet beverage staring at Yuki's frozen, tense form, and now that you'd confirmed I'm safe to be around again, you're trying to mend whatever rift that night caused between us, right?"

He didn't wait for a respond instead place money on the table then stands, gather his bags and leaves without a word after flashing the waitress approaching their table with a stunning smile, she and the other female customers that saw swoon.

Yuki watches him go conflicted, lowering her gaze she stares unseeing at the unfinish desert. To her Kaname-senpai and Zero are different.

Kaname-senpai is someone she loves and admires, her savior while Zero is there to protect and comfort her since Kaname-senpai can't, being from different worlds.

He a powerful, pureblood vampire and her an ordinary human girl.

She never considers Zero, her faithful and overprotective adoptive brother would ever turn from her, at least completely since he's been in love with her for years.

'She just wanted her first bite to be from the man she loves, is that so wrong of her?'

To be continue…
