CHAPTER 14

The mercenaries have boarded the ship safely. However, Ranulf was forced to flee back to Gallia before the ship could set sail. He, however, was all bruised and messed up from the beorc of Port Toha who were pushing and shoving him around and even throwing food and milk on him. Ranulf was later taken to Luganda the tiger laguz for healing and cleaning up.

Meanwhile with Ike, about a month after the incident at Port Toha, he was disappointed and angry with the townspeople of Port Toha. Still, he had to get over it. Mist even started asking him multiple questions about what had happened, and even shared her thoughts about what she had seen happen to Ranulf. Then, Nasir, the sailor of the ship who was a Goldoan White Dragon laguz, came to speak to Ike, explaining to him about the journey's procedures. However, during the conversation, something ran amok. Raven laguz of Kilvas were heard throughout the distance. Then, Ike's ship was caught in a trap set up by the Kilvas ravens. Battle was just about to begin.

"OK, now we're in trouble!" said Kamaria. "OK, that's it, turn it off, I'm outta here! Looks like we are NEVER NOT EVER gonna find my brother Kito!"

"Wait a second, Kamaria." Ike said. "These are Kilvas raven laguz. You can fight them in the sky, you know. You ARE a pegasus knight."

"I'll help too." said Isaac. "With a little help from my student Izzy, that is."

"Yup, with the power of the Yerekhaner ancestry of Dark Dragons, I can in fact help!" Izzy exclaimed.

"We'll all work together." said Ike. "Just as long as no one gets injured."

Meanwhile, Jill Fizzart, the wyvern rider first seen at Port Toha, arrived at the Gazaleah Sea, where the battle was ensuing between the human beorc and the shapeshifting raven laguz changelings. There, she saw the army and wanted to persue them for having "sub-human" companions. However, she wanted to think twice. She actually wanted to help out the army this time, eliminating one of the bird laguz pirates. When Ike noticed Jill, he started to question her. When he immediately found out that Jill was a Daein wyvern rider that disrespected all the laguz changelings, he declined her invite to his army.

"Let me tell you something right now, youngster!" Jill yelled. "I am a soldier of honor. We people and soldiers of Daein are taught in Daein schools to disrespect the laguz changelings."

"...I'll let you stay." Ike said. "But if you say one racist slur…" Ike said as he warned Jill. Jill was angry and disappointed with Ike. Then, another roar was heard. It was the roar of a transformed Red Dragon laguz.

"This could be trouble…" said Nasir. "I'm out of here! Deal with this yourselves." He later left.

"Pardon us, but this is Goldoan territory. Outsiders are not permitted on our land." said a Red Dragon soldier.

"I don't know who you people think you are, but this is our ship, and we are not pirates." Ike said. "We were traveling to the Begnion Empire when all the sudden, thanks to the Kilvas ravens, set a trap upon our ship. And now we are completely stuck here!"

"We don't care." said the soldier of Goldoa. "Get your asses out of our land now!"

The strong roar of a royal Black Dragon laguz was also heard in the distance later on. This was the roar of Kurthnaga, the prince of Goldoa and son of Dheginsea, the king of the Goldoan dragon laguz. Accompanied with Kurthnaga was his strong retainer, Gareth, another Red Dragon laguz of Goldoa.

"Excuse me, but my countrymen were… discourteous." Kurthnaga said to Ike. "I kindly ask that you forgive my people."

"Who are you?" asked Ike.

"This is Prince Kurthnaga." Gareth said as he introduced Kurthnaga to Ike. "And I am Gareth. We call Goldoa home. Never left territory."

"It is an honor to meet you, Prince Kurthnaga." Ike said as he bowed down before the prince.

"The honor is mine." said Kurthnaga. "What's the trouble you are having here?" Ike later explained everything. Kurthnaga then ordered the three Red Dragon laguz who previously prosecuted Ike to free the ship caught on the trap set by the Kilvas ravens. Mist was amazed by the dragon transformations and how huge the dragons were.

"They are remarkable." said Titania. "Too bad that the Goldoan Dragons are isolated from the world."

"Yeah…" Samantha said. "I want to see more dragon laguz one day."

"Me too! Me too!" said Lorriane.

"But there is a battle right now…" said Soren. "Focus on the battle first. Once this King Ashnard bastard is dead, we celebrate."

"...Right." said Ross, Samantha, Mist, and Lorriane.

Once the ship was moved off of the trap, Kurthnaga then asked Ike if he wanted any more supplies for their trip to Begnion after hearing about it from him. Ike agreed to take more supplies.

"You're welcome to have what you need." Kurthnaga said. Ike then took what he needed and the ship later sailed off to Begnion. But as the ship was sailing, Ike wanted to interrogate Jill.

"You said your name was JIll Fizzart, right?" asked Ike.

"Yes." Jill responded in an uncomfortable way.

"Is anything the matter?" asked Ike.

"N-no." responded Jill.

"I see." said Ike. "Let us start off with a few questions." He then started to ask Jill why Daein schools even taught her to use such racist terms like the word "sub-human". Once that question was answered, he then asked her why she wanted to help the ship and overcome the Kilvas raven laguz pirates. And once that question was answered, Ike made his proposition towards Jill, that being, she shall leave the army and not encounter Ike again if the word sub-human was said to his laguz army members. Although Jill was thinking, she was destined to change her racist ways of thinking about the laguz. She then accepted Ike's offer to join the army as a defense charger, thinking that the army could use extra defense. Ike gladly accepted Jill's request. The journey later continued.
