Chapter 5: Destroy Malevolence
Grievous in retreat!
Before the battleship Malevolence could destroy an Outer Rim clone medical base.
A Republic strike force, under the command of Jedi Anakin Skywalker, crippled the warship, disabling its dreaded ion cannon.
All the Jedi relentlessly persue the Malevolence.
During the Battle of the Kaliida Nebula, the Malevolence was left heavily damaged and trailed by three Star Destroyers.
In one of the Star Destroyers, Obi-Wan, Plo Koon, Nadia and Admiral Yularen watched the on going battle.
"Looks like Grievous and his ship aren't getting taken down that easy."Nadia stated while folding her arms.
"Commander, what is the damage level to the enemy ship?"Obi-Wan asked.
"She's lost a primary shield and stabilizers."the Commander declared. "But the Malevolence is so massive, it can take all the fire our cannons can give it."
"We must summon reinforcements."Plo Koon said.
"That's why we're here, Master Plo."Anakin said as he and Ahsoka entered the room.
"Anakin, were you able to contact Master Luminara?"Obi-Wan asked.
"Yes, Master."Anakin replied. "She's busy with a fleet of Separatists reinforcements nearby, she won't be able to give us support until she's turned them away."
"Then we'll have to make do with what we have for now."Obi-Wan suggested.
Ahsoka and Nadia checked on the controls as the Star Destroyers continued firing at General Grievous' ship.
Obi-Wan looked at Admiral Yularen.
"Admiral, status report."Obi-Wan ordered.
"They're not attempting to jump to hyperspace."Admiral Yularen reported. "Their hyperdrive must have been damaged during General Skywalker's bombing run."
"This is our chance."Obi-Wan commented and gave out an order. "All ships, target the bridge, maximum firepower."
In the Malevolence...
Unable to jump to hyperspace, General Grievous was forced to buy time as he spoke with Count Dooku.
"It has sustained extensive damage during Skywalker's attack."General Grievous declared.
"General Grievous, Lord Sidious and I have arranged a trap which will give you an advantage over the Jedi."Count Dooku stated.
"I assure you that is unnecessary."General Grievous replied.
"Do not compound your failure this day by allowing our prize warship to fall."Count Dooku warned.
"My Lord, they will never destroy me or this ship."General Grievous assured.
"Heading towards you is a very important Galactic Senator and her little Jedi brother."Count Dooku admitted. "With them as your hostages, they will call off their attack."
"As you wish, my Lord."General Grievous replied.
In Space...
A small Naboo ship was flying in hyperspace.
Inside it was Padme, Ferus and Threepio.
They were heading to give negotiations with the InterGalactic Banking Clan Supreme Executive San Hill.
"My lady, are you sure the information from Chancellor Palpatine is reliable?"Threepio asked.
"Yes, it was secretly given to him by the Supreme Executive of the Banking Clan himself."Padme exclaimed. "If they leave the Separatist Alliance, it will go a long way to shortening this War."
"I hope you're right, big sister."Ferus said.
Then a alarm beeping went on.
"We're approaching the system now."Padme said.
The Naboo ship jumped out of hyperspace and in front of Grievous' burning battle ship.
"My goodness!"Threepio panicked. "This isn't right!"
"That's a droid warship!"Ferus scowled. "We're in the middle of a battle!"
Back in the Malevolence...
"Sir, we're scanning a small ship off our bow."A battle droid said.
"Good."General Grievous sneered. "Our hostages have arrived."
Back in the Star Destroyer...
Nadia and Ahsoka notice a new ship coming to their area.
"Master, we're picking up a signal near the enemy vessel."Ahsoka declared.
"Something just came out of hyperspace."Nadia stated.
"Enemy reinforcements?"Anakin asked.
"No."Ahsoka responded. "It looks like a Naboo ship."
"Gunners, stand down."Obi-Wan ordered and looked at Anakin. "What in blazes are they doing out here?"
"Ahsoka, Nadia, contact that ship."Anakin ordered.
"Naboo cruiser, identify yourself."Nadia stated.
Nadia and Ahsoka pressed a few buttons to contact the Naboo Ship.
Then holograms of Ferus and Padme appeared.
"This is Senator Amidala and Padawan Olin."Padme stated.
Anakin became alarmed at seeing his wife and brother-in-law.
"Padme? Ferus?"Anakin responded. "What are you two doing out here?"
"We were sent on a special mission."Padme answered.
"Chancellor Palpatine was told Executive Hill wanted the Banking Clan to leave the Separatists."Ferus exclaimed.
"Get out of there as fast as you both can."Anakin demanded.
In Space...
The Naboo Ship suddenly got hit by a tractor beam causing Padme and Ferus to become alarmed.
"Have we been hit?"Threepio asked.
"I'm afraid it's much worse than that."Padme replied.
Back on the Star Destroyer...
"Padme, Ferus, what's happening?"Anakin asked.
"We're being pulled inside the droid cruiser by a tractor beam."Ferus retorted.
"We will not be made a Separatist bargaining chip."Padme declared. "Continue your attack, you must destroy this monstrous ship!"
Then the holograms disappeared from view.
"Admiral, order our ships to stop firing."Anakin ordered.
Admiral Yularen nodded and walked away as Nadia looked at Ahsoka.
"I hope Ferus will be okay."Nadia said quietly.
"Don't worry, Dia."Ahsoka remarked. "He always will be."
On the Naboo's Ship...
"It does not look safe out there, my Lady, Commander Olin."Threepio stated.
"I see now this whole thing was a trap set by Count Dooku and Darth Sidious to make sure General Grievous didn't get killed and I'm afraid we walked right into it."Padme complemented with a hint of sadness.
"Hey, no one's perfect."Ferus admitted with a shrug. "You've always told me that."
In the Malevolence...
A battle droid reported to General Grievous.
"Sir, the Republic Star Destroyers have halted their attack."the battle droid reported.
"Jedi are so predictable."General Grievous sneered. "Get the repair team up here, continue working on the hyperdrive, I'm going down to the main hangar."
General Grievous and a few battle droids went to the area, where a bunch of crates were being transported in a railway.
"This ship must be returned to Count Dooku intact."General Grievous said as he went on a train. "There is no room for failure."
On the Naboo Ship...
"Come on, I've overloaded the power system."Padme responded.
Padme pressed a few buttons before she began making her way out.
"I'm right behind you, Pad."Ferus assured.
Ferus and Padme walked away as Threepio followed them from behind.
"We're doomed."Threppio murmured.
Back on the Star Destroyer...
Obi-Wan noticed Anakin walking away.
"Where do you think you're going?"Obi-Wan asked.
"Somebody has to save their skin."Anakin complemented.
"I thought you might say that."Obi-Wan sighed.
"Wait up, Master!"Nadia called out and ran up to Obi-Wan. "I'm coming too!"
Then the three companions walked off as Plo Koon and Ahsoka watched them.
"There goes Skywalker again, craving adventure and excitement."Plo Koon commented.
Ahsoka smirked. "You get used to it.
In the Malevolence...
"Come on, Threepio, hurry."Ferus demanded.
Ferus and Padme went out of the Naboo ship with Threepio following from behind.
"Hurrying, sir."Threepio replied. "I'm not sure this is such a good idea."
General Grievous went into a train and came to the rail jet before glancing at two battle droids.
"You two, come with me."General Grievous ordered.
The evil warlord and his droids went into the Naboo ship while Padme, Ferus and Threepio watched from their hiding place.
General Grievous notice the ship's signal started alarming.
"Looks like the engines are set to destroy themselves."the battle droid informed.
"Get out of my way!"General Grievous growled.
The Naboo ship exploded as Padme, Ferus and Threepio went away from the scene.
Padme rigged her ship's engines to explode so that when General Grievous came on board to capture her, the galaxy would be rid of him.
Unfortunately, the evil warlord survived the blast and has his droids search for the Naboo Senator and her companions.
"Sound the alarm!"General Grievous ordered. "We have stowaways on board!"
Back on the Star Destroyer...
Obi-Wan, Anakin and Nadia were in a shuttle called the Twilight with Artoo.
"I trust you've already formulated a brilliant plan to rescue the Senator and Ferus."Obi-Wan assumed.
"As a matter of fact, I have."Anakin replied.
"But do we have a plan B?"Obi-Wan questioned as he sat next to him. "Every operation needs a backup, Anakin."
"I don't have a backup yet, but I do have a plan for getting on that ship."Anakin assured.
Nadia raised an eyebrow as she sat on her seat.
"Really?"Nadia asked.
"The enemy sensors are obviously damaged, so we'll sneak in behind them and dock at the emergency airlock."Anakin explained.
"That's your plan?"Obi-Wan asked. "Just fly there, land, hope they don't spot us, and walk in the door?"
"I much prefer more action."Nadia chuckled.
Artoo beeped at Nadia.
"Basically."Anakin said with a smirk.
"Brilliant."Obi-Wan commented bluntly. "Let's get going."
Then the shuttle flew off to General Grievous's ship.
Back in the Malevolence...
Padme, Ferus and Threepio were walking in the corridors.
The Naboo Senator went to a comm panel on the wall and started pressing its buttons.
Ferus had his lightsaber out and was looking out for Grievous or any battle droids.
"Pardon me, but might I suggest we keep moving?"Threepio suggested. "I think I hear battle droids approaching."
"But we also need to contact the fleet."Padme reminded. "If I can just get this comm panel working."
"Pad, you better hurry."Ferus warned as he stood in a fighting position. "Grievous and his lamo droids are coming."
General Grievous and a few battle droids came and saw the comm panel, but didn't see Padme, Ferus and Threepio, who were hiding behind the wall.
"General?"A battle droid said.
"What?"General Grievous growled.
"The damage to the hyperdrive was not as bad as we first thought."the battle droid stated. "We should be able to get under way again shortly."
"I must inform Count Dooku."General Grievous admitted. "Stay here, continue the search, find the stowaways and bring them to me."
"Roger, roger."the battle droid answered.
Then General Grievous and the battle droids went their separate ways to look for their hostages.
In the Twilight...
"If they spot us, we'll be pulverized."Nadia admitted.
"They're too busy repairing the ship, Kitty."Anakin replied. "They don't have time to notice us."
"Subtlety has never been one of your strong points, Anakin."Obi-Wan commented.
"Everything I know I learned from you, Master."Anakin sneered.
"If only that were true."Obi-Wan sighed.
Nadia covered her mouth and let out a quiet giggle.
Then Anakin made the Twilight latch onto the Malevolence by an emergency air lock and they board the ship.
"Anakin, you're crazy."Obi-Wan declared. "Spinning is not flying."
Anakin smirked. "But it's a good trick."
"We do not want to be spotted."Nadia reminded nervously.
Then the door opened and revealed three battle droids.
"I knew it!"A battle droid cried out. "It's them!"
Nadia and the two Jedi Knights activated their lightsabers and easily destroyed the droids.
Anakin glanced at Artoo.
"You stay here, Artoo."Anakin ordered.
Artoo beeped at Anakin.
Back in the Star Destroyer...
Master Luminara Unduli contacted Plo Koon and Ahsoka.
"Another bold strategy by Skywalker, I presume."Master Luminara suggested.
"That's my Master."Ahsoka remarked proudly.
"Once they make it off that ship, we'll need reinforcements to finish off the enemy."Plo Koon stated.
"I am on my way, Master Plo."Master Luminara answered.
Then the hologram of Master Luminara disappeared.
"We're receiving a transmission from inside the Malevolence."A Commander reported. "I believe it's the Senator and Commander Olin."
Back in General Grievous's ship...
Anakin, Obi-Wan and Nadia were running in the hallways.
Then Ahsoka contacted Anakin in his comlink.
"Yes."Anakin answered.
"Master, we've found the Senator and Ferus."Ahsoka reported."Patching them through."
"Padme?"Anakin asked. "Ferus?"
On the Lower Level of the Malevolence...
Padme contacted her husband.
"Anakin."Padme said lovingly.
"Are you both all right?"Anakin questioned in concern."Where are you two?"
"On the lower levels."Padme replied. "We're fine, but I don't know for how long."
"Droids are everywhere."Ferus scowled.
Ferus held his lightsaber tightly, when he and Padme heard droids approaching.
Back in the Top Level of the Malevolence...
"Obi-Wan, Nadia and I are on board too."Anakin admitted.
"What?"Padme said in surprise. "What are you doing here?"
"We came to get you off this ship."Anakin responded and then contacted Ahsoka. "Ahsoka, how can we get to the Senator?"
"According to our scans, there seems to be a larger open area in the center of the ship."Ahsoka exclaimed. "It should be halfway between the three of you."
"We're on our way."Anakin remarked. "Did you hear that, Padme?"
"I'll be there."Padme answered.
The Naboo Senator then ended the call.
Padme and Ferus started running off as Threepio followed them.
Meanwhile...
"General, we just detected an unauthorized communication coming from within the ship."A battle droid reported.
"What did it say?"General Grievous demanded. "Well-We don't know."the battle droid said nervously. "We didn't catch it in time."
"Monitor all internal communications."General Grievous growled. "I want that Senator and that Padawan brat on this bridge."
Anakin, Obi-Wan and Nadia walked to the area, where the railway trains were.
"I don't see them, Anakin."Obi-Wan said.
"They're here, Master."Anakin assured. "I sense it."
"I just hope, they're okay."Nadia commented.
Padme, Ferus and Threepio were on the other side of the railway.
"This is where we're supposed to meet them."Ferus stated.
"He's probably late again."Padme assumed.
"But we do have company of another sort."Threepio said looking at three battle droids.
"Blast them!"the battle droid said.
The battle droids started firing at the trio.
Ferus used his lightsaber to slash them, while Padme used her blaster.
Nadia spotted Padme, Ferus and Threepio.
"There, they are!"Nadia declared in relief.
The two men and Nadia activated their lightsabers as they did a big leap to jump on a railway train.
"Look, Jedi."A battle droid replied. "Fire!"
Obi-Wan, Anakin and Nadia used their lightsabers to delfect the droids's blasts and destroying them.
"I love doing this."Nadia stated smugly.
Padme, Ferus and Threepio were escaping the battle droids.
Ferus had his lightsaber out to deflect the laser blasts from the battle droids.
"Our ride is here."Ferus stated.
"Jump!"Padme shouted as she blasted on the droids.
"Who, me?"Threepio asked.
"Yes, you!"Ferus scowled.
With his free hand, Ferus used the Force to throw Threepio on a box of a railway train as Padme and him landed on the train.
"Padme!"Anakin shouted.
"Ferus!"Nadia shouted.
Anakin used the Force to do a big leap to get to the train that was next to the one, Padme and Ferus were.
"Whoa..."Nadia said in surprise.
Ferus did a big leap to go next to Anakin.
Then a battle droid destroyed the bridge that Padme was in.
"The bridge is out."Padme warned.
"Jump to me."Anakin insisted.
"You have to trust us on this, sis!"Ferus shouted. "We'll use the Force!"
Padme nodded and leaped off the train as Anakin and Ferus used the force to catch her.
"I've got you."Anakin assured.
Anakin held Padme in his arms as Obi-Wan and Nadia watched from the other side.
"Nice catch!"Obi-Wan shouted at them.
"We'll fetch the protocol droid!"Nadia called out.
Anakin smirked as he held Padme in his arms while she wrapped her arms around his neck.
"The things you do to get me alone."Anakin sneered.
"Stop talking."Padme whispered.
The two lovers closed their eyes to kiss.
Ferus was behind them and took out his tongue out in disgust at the sight.
Meanwhile…
Obi-Wan and Nadia jumped off another train and used the Force to get Threepio, but the droid got caught in another train and disappeared.
"Blast!"Nadia retorted. "That's not good!"
Obi-Wan contacted Anakin.
"Anakin, we got separated from Padme's and your protocol droid."Obi-Wan admitted.
Anakin frowned at his master's respond.
"Threepio!"Padme said in realisation.
"I'll take care of it."Anakin replied bluntly.
The Jedi Knight felt a little disappointment that his little moment with his wife was ruined.
He then looked at his wife and brother-in-law.
"We'll meet you two back at the Twilight."Anakin declared.
"No, we can't leave yet."Padme answered.
"We overheard Grievous."Ferus commented. "Their hyperdrive is almost repaired."
Obi-Wan and Nadia were on another train.
"Me and Nadia are already heading in that direction."Obi-Wan assured.
"So we'll make certain that the hyperdrive stays offline."Nadia complemented in her comlink.
Unknown to them, General Grievous was listening to their conversation.
"We'll see about that, Jedi."General Grievous laughed and looked at the battle droids. "Come with me."
Meanwhile...
Anakin looked at Padme and Ferus.
"I'm getting you two out of here."Anakin said and then contacted Artoo. "Artoo, I need you to help me find Threepio, he's on the rail jet."
Artoo beeped in annoyance.
"I know."Anakin sighed. "I know, he does, look, just find him for me and I'll be there soon."
Artoo beeped at him and ended the call.
Looks of worry appeared in Padme and Ferus's faces.
Artoo used his little hand to stop the trains from moving.
This also caused Threepio to land on a bunch of crates.
Meanwhile…
Obi-Wan and Nadia were running on a bridge.
There they saw two battle droids on the controllers.
Just before they could approached them, a yellow light shun on them and they got surround by battle droids and destroyers on each side.
Then General Grievous landed in front of them.
Obi-Wan and Nadia glared at General Grievous.
"Hello, there."General Grievous greeted.
"Nice for you to visit."Nadia mocked.
General Grievous brought out his blaster.
"General Kenobi, did you and your bratty Padawan really think I would leave the hyperdrive unguarded?"General Grievous threatened.
"Anything is possible."Obi-Wan stated. "You haven't exactly impressed me today."
"Yeah and your welcome committee could use a little work."Nadia insulted.
General Grievous laughed. "Kill them."
The battle droids started blasting at the two Jedi.
The master and padawan leaped up and activated their lightsabers.
Nadia used the Force to sent a destroyer rolling straight to a bunch of battle droids and crushing them off the bridge.
Obi-Wan and Nadia hid behind the shield of a destroyer as General Grievous blasted at them.
Together, Obi-Wan and Nadia used the Force to sent the destroyer rolling straight to General Grievous as they made their escape to the other side.
"That was impressive."A battle droid remarked.
The battle droid got destroyed by General Grievous.
"Guard the hyperdrive!"General Grievous ordered to the battle droids. "I will deal with these Jedi myself!"
At Another Side of the Malevolence...
Anakin, Padme and Ferus were running down the hallway.
Anakin and Ferus used their lightsabers to deflect the battle droids's blasts.
Then the trio went to a corner.
"Obi-Wan? Nadia?"Anakin replied in his comlink. "Come in, you two."
Padme blasted at the droids, while Ferus deflect the blasts with his lightsaber.
"Anakin, I'm afraid Grievous is on to us."Obi-Wan declared.
"Yeah, we noticed."Anakin said.
"We'll rendezvous back at the Twilight."Obi-Wan commented.
"The fleet must engage the-"Nadia stated.
But then the transmission went off.
"Obi-Wan? Nadia?"Anakin asked. "Come in."
"What's wrong?"Ferus asked.
"They're jamming us."Anakin retorted.
Then he and Ferus slashed the three battle droids with their lightsabers.
"That might buy us some time."Anakin suggested.
"I suppose you have a plan."Padme teased.
"Follow me."Anakin said with a smirk.
Ferus rolled his eyes and smirked as he followed them.
In a Dark Hallway of the Malevolence...
Artoo found Threepio by himself.
"Artoo-Deeto, my, you are a sight for short circuits."Threepio remarked.
Artoo beeped at his friend.
"Master Anakin sent you to find me?"Threepio asked. "What kept you then?"
Ferus and Anakin took out the battle droids that were in the main control room.
"Ever since I've known you, you've been playing with droids."Padme commented.
"I used to put them together."Anakin said. "Now I only take them apart."
"So where do we start?"Ferus questioned.
"First we need to get rid of these droids so they won't know we were here."Anakin replied. "I'm gonna hotwire the ship, give Grievous a little surprise.
"I guess I'll clean up the droids then."Padme said with a frown.
"Don't worry, big sister."Ferus assured. "I'll help you."
Padme smiled as she ruffled her adopted brother's hair.
Meanwhile on the Star Destroyer...
"Our ships are in attack position."Ahsoka said. "Any word from Master Skywalker?"
"No, the droids are jamming our transmissions."Plo Koon exclaimed.
"We need to give him more time."Ahsoka insisted.
"I'm not sure we can."Plo Koon responded.
Back in the Lower Level of the Malevolence...
Obi-Wan and Nadia jumped on top of a train.
There the Jedi Master and his Padawan started having a lightsaber duel with General Grievous as they ran down to the end of the train.
Nadia quickly slashed the train's controls as she and her Master leaped off and went on another train.
Obi-Wan gave General Grievous a salute and Nadia gives a smug smile as they went off.
"Good job, my dear."Obi-Wan praised. "Good job."
"Thank you, Master."Nadia chuckled.
Meanwhile...
"That ought to do it."Anakin said while pressing a few buttons. "How's the house cleaning going?"
"Done."Ferus sneered as he threw a droid on a elevator into a room with the force. "Let's get out of here."
Then trio left the room as the battle droids came to activate the hyperdrive.
"Artoo, are you quite certain the ship is in this direction?"Threepio asked.
Artoo beeped at Threepio.
"This way looks potentially dangerous."Threepio stated.
Artoo beeped again, making Threepio angry.
"I know the whole place is dangerous!"Threepio argued. "I suggest we stay here and let Master Anakin find us!"
Then Anakin, Padme and Ferus showed up.
"Threepio."Anakin said. "Don't just stand there, let's get back to the ship."
"Power up the engines, Artoo."Ferus ordered.
Then Obi-Wan and Nadia showed up holding their lightsabers and running from the firing droids.
"Hold the ship!"Obi-Wan shouted.
Anakin used the Force to block the destroyers as Nadia closed the door and they went into the ship.
"I'll contact the fleet."Obi-Wan suggested.
"Artoo, release the docking clamp."Anakin instructed.
Artoo beeped at Anakin as they dispatched from the Malevolence.
Then General Grievous and a few Separatists ships showed up and started firing at them.
"Time for some clever tricks, Anakin."Ferus said with a smirk.
"That's what I was thinking."Anakin sneered.
At the Star Destroyer...
"All batteries, open fire!"Plo Koon ordered.
The the Star Destroyers started firing at the Separatists fighter ships.
Meanwhile on the Twilight...
"You know, we have guns."Anakin reminded.
"You can shoot back any time."Obi-Wan argued. "I was just about to-"
"I got it."Padme stated.
"She seems to know her way around."Obi-Wan said.
Padme started firing at the Separatists ships.
In the Malevolence...
A battle droid contacted General Grievous.
"General, the hyperdrive has been completely repaired."A battle droid reported. "Should we retreat to friendly space?"
"Engage the hyperdrive."General Grievous ordered. "I'll meet you at our secret base in sector four."
"You heard the General."the battle droid reminded. "Prepare to make the jump to hyperspace."
Back in the Twilight...
Nadia was amazed at Padme's fighting skills.
"You're good, Senator Amidala."Nadia remarked in awe.
Padme smiled. "Beginner's luck, Nadia."
"That's my sister."Ferus chuckled.
Artoo let out a few beeps.
Threepio glanced at Anakin.
"Pardon me, Master Ani, but Artoo's scan of the enemy's ship indicates their hyperdrive is activating."Threepio informed.
"Don't worry about it."Anakin assured smugly.
"What?"Obi-Wan asked.
Then the Malevolence got destroyed when it hit the moon and General Grievous escaped into hyperspace.
"Yay!"Nadia cheered in delight. "We did it!"
Nadia then wrapped her arms around Ferus's neck, giving him a kiss on the cheek which made him blush.
Padme and Anakin smiled at the sight while Artoo let out a few happy beeps.
"I imagine you had something to do with that."Obi-Wan said with a smile.
Anakin smirked. "It was all part of the plan, Master."
Back in the Star Destroyer…
The Commanders within the ship cheered as Plo Koon and Ahsoka smiled at their friends' victory.
