Rain. Rain. It's all I can feel beating down on my sore skin. My body, broken, and pain, the pain, pain, pain, it's all I can feel, nothing but the black void of pain.
My mind is blurry. All it thinks of is one thing. Pain. Pain. Pain. The sounds of the rain crashing against the pavement and on the bench I lay under.
I hear silence. Nothing but this splish splash of water splashing on the concrete around me. Then a splash and then a crack. What was that?
Then I heard the tipping sound. Tap. Tip. Tap. I slowly open my eyes and realize it's a woman in a lovely black suit and an overcoat. She has a lovely black hat on her head with a red rose on the side. I can't see her face. She's far away, but she's getting closer and closer and closer. The pain is gone. All I can feel is the cold water on my skin.
She saw me. She freezes. All she can do is stare at me for a long moment. When I whimper, when the pain suddenly returns, when I turn to move further under the bench, she moves. Faster and faster until she's standing beside me. She falls to her knees.
She touches my face, and all she can do is cry. Her hands are crimson with blood. Is she hurt? No. No. No. She did not look hurt from a far. A puddle of blood sat beneath me as I looked down. All I can think about is, is it mine? Is that why I'm hurting? A soft bell-like voice asks me. "Oh my god, child. Are you alright? Where's the blood coming from? Child, can you hear me?" she asks. I say nothing. Her eyes caught my attention.
Soft delicate blue eyes, pale skin and red lips. Was she heading somewhere? I had disturbed her with my pain and suffering. I looked away, trying to move away from her touch. It was so soft and gentle. I could not bear it. That's when she slowly lifts me up and pulls me out from underneath the bench, holding me to her body. She screams as she lifts my shirt and holds me closer. That's when her hat falls. The rose petals slowly blow in the wind as they fall off the hat.
Then I feel something soft wrap around my body. She no longer wears her coat when I gaze up at her. Looking down, I see it tightly wrapped around me. I managed to say a single word, "warm". She looks down at me and smiles. "Yes, sweetie, I won't let anyone hurt you again. I promise you". The next thing we knew, we heard a loud shout. "BOY, WHERE ARE YOU? I DID NOT GIVE YOU PERMISSION TO LEAVE THE HOUSE!".
She turns around and sees a large bulky man walking over. The next thing I knew there was a crack sound again. We were gone, it felt like we're being sucked through a small tube, and I blacked out. Nothing but the black void. After experiencing what I thought was death, I heard something soft like a voice telling me to wake up. But not yet, it's too soon. The void tightens around me letting me know I will be safe until it's time to wake up.
