A/N: Here's the next chapter. We get the animatronics here though they don't all share the same amount of screen time. Like I said, they'll probably be out of character, and I do apologize for that, though I hope they're not too bad. I hope you enjoy, it's like 3,000 more words than the last one. Please leave a review!

2. First Shift

The Pizza Plex had three other night shift security guards that got off at 15 till midnight. At first, things were fine, mostly because they were far too busy to prod and poke at the newcomer. Working together though, the four of them were able to sweep the atrium, main entrance, utility tunnels, and the first basement area which held the docks, kitchens, and dining rooms. It was efficient enough that the main sweep took only an hour and 15 minutes, and he had only had to be in their actual presence a few times and he barely spoke with them. It had been nice. But, with a half hour left until they got off and left Skylar to his peace and quiet, they finally started poking and prodding the newbie.

However, upon realizing he was the new and only graveyard shift employee, things escalated. They started to make jokes about his imminent death at the 'paws and claws' of the animatronics. But when he refused to be affected by their taunts, they started on the horror stories from past graveyard shifts, really trying their best to freak him out since he was the 'Sacrificial meat suit' as the only man among the trio had so eloquently put it.

Honestly, he had heard all of this before, so it was nothing new. He was relieved when they left and Nighttime Protocol kicked in, leaving him free of ignorant human interaction. That was when he checked the task list for his first shift. It was simple really. Catherine wanted him to spend the first few shifts getting used to the building, figuring out a system that worked for him, and introducing himself to the band, daycare attendants, Bonnie, and Foxy. She also wanted him to inform them that he was qualified if they had any engineering or programming issues. And apparently, he had to register his badge at all the security offices in the main atrium, the utility tunnels, behind the west arcade Dance Floor, and all of the attractions:

The Daycare, Kids Cove, and RockStar Row on the ground floor. Then Roxy Raceway, Monty Golf, and Fazer Blast all on the first floor. Bonnie Bowl on the second floor. And Chica's Mazercise on the third floor.

He would also have to patrol the Faz-Cade on the second floor with Bonnie Bowl. Then there were the shops, Prize Counter, and Superstarcade on the third floor with Mazercise, which also had the west side dance floor. So about 13 security offices, he figured.

The message also stated that the lights in the building automatically shut off at 1AM. 3AM. And 5AM so Moon, one of the attendants, could do his own patrol of the main open areas and underground tunnels. After finishing his first mandatory break, he decided to start with the day care and party rooms so he could introduce himself to the two daycare attendants and maybe figure something out with Moon. He did not want to throw the other's rhythm off by being where he was if he didn't want Skylar there. And to be efficient in his sweeps.

So with a game plan in mind, he made his way towards the day care area from his spot in the atrium. He entered the check in area and decided to do a swift patrol of the party rooms before making his way to the theater and basement area there, then he'd enter the actual day care so he could introduce himself without taking up too much of their time. After all, everyone had been pestered by children and their parents all day, he doubted they wanted to deal with another person bothering them when they could be doing whatever it was that they normally did. Nodding to himself resolutely, he began.

FNAF

It turned out he needn't worry about the hallways and such, as there were a few security bots that were there. So, he entered the first party room and began his circuit through the rooms. There were ten doors along the hallway, and each opened to a large double room. He figured, from how clean they were, that the janitors or janitorial bots had targeted the area before the nighttime protocol kicked in. There were a few left over party items like plushies, and other collectibles and supplies stashed on the counters which he supposed made preparing for a party easier.

It didn't take him very long to check the rooms for any stragglers or other problems. Which meant he found himself in the theater pretty quickly. It was a large space with a huge screen on the wall and lots of soft, safe cushions and floors. There were a few security and janitorial bots here as well though the space looked pretty clean. He found himself watching the screen that showed an episode of Freddy and Friends Adventures. Shaking his head before he could get too drawn in, he did a quick patrol before making his way down into the theater storage which was down a couple flights of stairs.

It was larger with a few extra rooms and some cubbies. He found costumes and a few spare cardboard cutouts meant for plays. He was rather fascinated by the endos, but knew he couldn't stay long enough to study them... Maybe on his day off or something he'd get permission to look at them? Once the storage was cleared, he went back up and to the day care. The main door was too big and heavy for him to push open... Though there was a chance there was a lock on it that he had to activate to open it? Shrugging he went back up the stairs and towards the Slide into Fun that he had noticed earlier... Who was he kidding, the moment he saw the slide he had wanted to go down it. Now he had a legitimate excuse to do so.

He couldn't help the childish screech of joy that left his lips as the slide was quite a bit longer than he had anticipated. He crashed into the ball pit with a shriek of laughter. Geeze, he had missed this kind of small joy. He began to wade through the balls, which went up a little past his waist, as he made his way towards a side that he could climb from. Only to halt when he heard the sound of bells jingle. He glanced up to see who the sound belonged too. He saw Sun- because who else could that glimmering gold and red belong too? - He was the attendant that stayed in the Day Care. Sun did a twirling jump and dove into the pit which scattered some of the plastic. Then it was silent, and Skylar couldn't even see the movement of Sun in the pit... It made him think of 'JAWS' which really just made it a bit creepy.

He stayed still though, knowing that he was perfectly safe. However, he was not expecting to be picked up like he weighed nothing. Nor to be held several feet in the air. That caused him to yelp and grasp a hold of Sun's arms on instinct. "Oh! Sorry new friend." Sun exclaimed, placing Skylar down once they were out of the pit. Seeing Sun about to apologize again, Skylar was quick to reassure him that it was fine, he had just been startled. And did Sun call him 'new friend'? If so, he wouldn't protest.

"Hello Sun! My name's Skylar and I'm the new graveyard shift security guard and emergency engineer for any problems you might have. I was coming to introduce myself to you and Moon since we'll be seeing each other around." Skylar introduced himself as he studied the 9-foot jester before him. If he remembered correctly, other than the DJ Music Man, Sun and Moon were the tallest.

"Hurray! A new friend!" Sun exclaimed excitedly. "What should we talk about?"

"Well, you run the daycare with Moon, right? How is it?" Skylar asked, genuinely curious. Sun's little rays got super bright in his excitement as he cheerfully relayed the day's events, and the many things the children had done. Skylar knew it's what Sun and Moon did, but he still couldn't help but be impressed at how Sun had managed to keep up with nearly a hundred children with only bare minimum help from another day shifter.

"You guys are really impressive." Skylar admitted to the glowing attendant. His lights flashed a bit in surprise before Skylar found himself being hugged and thanked by a very happy animatronic. Skylar wasn't one for contact, but he thinks he could get used to hugs from the sunny animatronic.

"Thank you Star Light!" Sun told him, causing Skylar to blush at the nickname. Of course, he accepted it, while figuring Sun called all the little kiddies that. "Oh, you're introducing yourself to everyone right?"

"Yup, though I'm a bit nervous." He sighed.

"Don't worry, everyone's really nice once you get to know them. I'm sure it'll be just fine." Sun soothed him. Skylar smiled as they discussed more about the others. As expected, Freddy, Chica, and Foxy were more openly friendly, while Monty, Roxy, and Bonnie would require a little time to get them to open up. Moon, well... Sun would let Skylar and Moon work that out. As it was, in Sun's head, Moon was constantly flipping back and forth on his thoughts on the new graveyard shift guard. "So you're going to talk to Moon about your patrols?" Sun asked curiously.

"Yup! I understand Moon does his own patrols and since he's the more experienced one here, I'd rather not be an annoyance and get in his way." Skylar admitted, not knowing that Moon had been listening in and was shocked by the consideration. Sun internally laughed at his counterpart's reaction.

'Ooh! I like him.' Sun thought to Moon before they all heard the sounds of the lights starting to shut off.

"It was nice talking to you Sun. I hope I'll be able to visit later, but I'm going to be trying to get used to the building tonight, so I'm probably going to get lost." Skylar told the sunny animatronic who chuckled before saying his own bye for now just as the lights in the day care went off.

Skylar watched in interest as the shift happened and he soon had the other half of the celestial attendants standing before him in the soft blue glow of the dimly lit security area. Skylar decided the blue and silver was just as cool as the red and gold, and he thought the little stars and moons were adorable. Then he nodded and smiled. "Hi. I'm Skylar the new graveyard security and we'll be working together on patrols. I'm also qualified to take care of any emergency issues you might have." Skylar introduced himself.

"I know this already. You introduced yourself to Sun." Moon's voice was much deeper than Sun's and had a bit of a gravely tone to it.

He nodded at Moon's words. "I have introduced myself to Sun. However, I didn't introduce myself to you and that would have been rather rude, especially since we're co-workers now." He explained. Moon looked at him in silence for a moment.

"You wanted to discuss patrol?" He asked with his head tilted, ignoring what the man had said for now. Skylar nodded. "I patrol the atrium, main entrance, the utility tunnels, and basements during my first two patrols. I patrol RockStar Row and the rest of the daycare during my last shift." He spoke. Skylar nodded.

"I see. I'll patrol the attractions and such then, so I don't get in your way and the same location isn't being checked at the same time." Skylar mused. "If you have any specific ways that you like to do things, I'm all ears so you can tell me what you'd rather I do to make it easier on you and to make things more efficient." Skylar told him. Moon blinked before deciding to think about it later.

"Do as you say. Patrol the attractions and such when I'm on my first two shifts... I'll meet up with you for the reports from those shifts 10 minutes before Sun and I switch back out." He told the human. Then, before Skylar could reply, Moon grabbed his cable and was gone swiftly above the daycare.

He just barely heard the guard call out to him, "Thank you Moon. I'll see you then. It was nice meeting you!" Moon grumbled under his breath and made his way to his first patrol route, ignoring Sun's admonishment for being rude in the back of his head.

Skylar watched the other disappear before he grabbed his flashlight and made his way to Kids Cove since it was connected to the Day Care by a short hallway. He could make it to RockStar Row after that before he began to patrol the other attractions on the first floor- one for each of the band members. Bonnie Bowl was on the second floor so that would be where he went after he was done on the ground floor.

Kids Cove wasn't as big as the other attractions, but it was still the perfect size and just as whimsical for the children infatuated by pirates and Foxy. Said animatronic who jumped down from the light house just as Skylar was passing it, causing him to screech, trip, and drop his flashlight. He looked up from his crouching position when he heard the fox's hearty chuckles. "Sorry there Matey." The 6-foot fox said, holding out Skylar's flashlight for him to take. "I just couldn't resist with ye walking by lost in yer thoughts like that." He apologized. Skylar accepted the flashlight with a slightly pitched laugh.

"Sun definitely didn't mention that before. It's fine, I would do the same with others." Skylar assured, shaking the last of the prickles from his arms. "Nice to meet you, Foxy. My name's Skylar, and I'm the new graveyard shift guard. I'm also qualified to look after you if you're having any issues engineering or otherwise." Skylar introduced himself, making sure to keep the beam away from the other's eyes. They all still had a slight sensitivity to bright lights and such in their eyes and he really didn't want to accidently flash him. He studied the fancy pirate get up as the other replied, noting that he was the shortest of the animatronics.

"Aye, nice ter meet ye. And he wouldn't 'ave. He's as mischievous as they come himself." Foxy chuckled before he tilted his head curiously. "Did ye lose a bet?" He mused, looking the other over. Skylar blinked in confusion.

"What? A bet? Not that I know of, why?" He asked. Foxy blinked at him for a long moment before shaking his head with another hearty laugh.

"Ah, I see... Yer a brave one, aren't ye?" Skylar blinked again before he figured out what the fox was implying.

"Um... I don't think I'm all that brave... But I do know that I find you all more fascinating than scary, even with the rumors and stories around the industry." he answered. Foxy laughed once more. "Um, could you show me where the security office for this area is? I'm not finding it on the map." Skylar asked sheepishly. Foxy grinned as he led the guard to a secluded area in the back corner that had a door that almost blended in with the wall. As Skylar registered his card at the office, they discussed Kids Cove for a few more minutes before Foxy sent Skylar off to RockStar Row, since it was nearing half past 1 and the guard still had introductions to make. Skylar grinned and waved goodbye to the other before heading out.

George said that the band members didn't really leave their rooms until about 2 or so, which meant he should catch them just as they were leaving their charging stations. He'd introduce himself to the band, work around to the other attractions on the first floor, and check in with Moon at some point before going up. He had to glance at the map on his watch a few times but eventually came across the entrance to RockStar Row. This area had a few night lights active, so it wasn't too dark, but also not bright enough to trigger Moon and Sun's switch.

The first door up was Freddy's, which was a bit of a relief. Sun did say Freddy and Chica were the easiest to approach. Feeling slightly more confident thanks to his talks with Sun, Moon, and Foxy, he knocked on the door. It opened a moment later to reveal a 7-foot brown bear. "Hello Superstar. How can I help you?" He asked with a friendly rumble. To Skylar's immense relief, he didn't stutter.

"Hi Freddy. My name's Skylar and I'm the new graveyard Security, and I'm also qualified to take care of any issues you have. Tonight's my first night so I'm going around and introducing myself to everyone." Skylar introduced himself, knowing it would be roughly the same introduction for everyone. He blinked when Freddy scanned him but ignored it for now.

"Nice to meet you, Skylar." Freddy rumbled. "If you need help with anything, don't hesitate to come to me." He implored and Skylar nodded before continuing on his task to introduce himself to the others. He had nearly the same experience with the 6'5 Chica, though he had to turn down the chance to eat with her, before he moved on to 6'10 Roxy. Roxy was just as gruff as he had been warned, though tsundere seemed to fit the wolf better. He noticed that she went back to her vanity as he was leaving and smiled a bit at that. He ducked away before she could notice.

Monty had been interesting, and completely not what he had expected. Skylar knew that before the reopening, Monty had been known to have some serious anger issues and his green room was known for its state of constant disarray. Catherine had informed him that it came from the virus amplifying the more negative parts of his personality to an extreme degree. It had been fixed, but the 7-foot gator was still tense during their first meeting, almost like he deemed the human fragile and was afraid of breaking him. He also kept mostly quiet though he did ask Skylar if he was good at mini golf. Skylar's reply of 'I'm decent, I suppose.' was most definitely taken as a soft-core challenge. Skylar expected to find himself on the golf course with Monty at some point in the future.

He was lost in Fazer Blast when Moon found him 10 minutes till 2AM. "Thank goodness you're here. I can't find my way out!" Skylar exclaimed in relief after seeing who it was that had just joined him. He didn't even care if the other was judging him. Apparently, Fazer Blast was bigger than it was last time, and he had gotten turned around a few times. And there wasn't another security bit in the actual maze itself.

"Why didn't you just check from the cat walks?" Moon asked in, what Skylar thought might be, disbelief. Skylar blinked before looking up.

And sure enough... "There were cat walks!?" He exclaimed, missing Moon's wince at the loud shout. Skylar turned his attention to the watch and flipped through a few cameras. He realized in his flipping through the cameras to find the actual entrance to Fazer Blast, he had also missed the now obvious 'Employees Only' door. He gulped before looking up to Moon and chuckling a bit sheepishly.

"Um... My bad?" He tried. He had the distinct impression that Moon rolled his eyes at him before the animatronic grabbed the human into a secure hold and jumped upwards, causing Skylar to let out a small screech of surprise and excitement. It overshadowed Moon's own grumble. They landed safely on the catwalk where Moon released him. Skylar looked over the edge and sure enough, he could tell that patrol would have been both easier and faster from up here.

"Down that way will lead you to the main entrance of Fazer Blast." Moon indicated behind the rather... Simple... Human. "This way leads to the security office and storage rooms for this attraction. Everything was fine in the mail lobby and atrium. I'll take care of the underground areas next. Try not to get lost again." Moon told him before disappearing above Skylar who shouted a swift thank you to his savior before he was out of hearing range.

Moon gave a short suffering sigh. Sun's commentary in the back of their consciousness praising Moon for helping Skylar instead of leaving him to wander aimlessly wasn't any help with his annoyance.

Skylar was humming happily as he made his way out of Roxy's Raceway. He had successfully registered his badge at both Fazer Blast and the Raceway, and it was about 2:50, so almost time for the next scheduled shut down of the lights. The Raceway had many garages, storages, and some other buildings entirely and it had taken him almost a full hour to patrol it. He had also got turned around a few times in the back rooms, so once he was more familiar with the area, he expected his patrol time would lessen. He noted that Roxy was entering the salon as he left and smiled as he realized she was probably getting more hair supplies. One of the things he had noticed was that her hair was made to be styled as she saw fit, and he really thought that was great.

He smiled as he made his way towards Monty Golf, cutting through the atrium as he did. He had just reached the entrance when the lights shut off. He casually grabbed his flashlight from his waist and turned it on as he entered... Only for it to die a few minutes into his patrol. He had forgotten to charge it. "Aw man! Come on, just a few more minutes." He tried to fruitlessly coax. He knew there was a charging station in the security office, and he knew that was near the last hole.

Which should be a simple walk along the side paths... If it wasn't for his awful sense of direction, the darkness as there was much less light in this area, the alligator roars that drowned all other sound out, and the risk of falling into the waterways. The fences were in place to prevent any accidents when open, but they came down part way after nighttime protocol kicked in to give janitorial staff easier access in case anything was in the water. They came back up once 6AM came around. He sighed. He looked at the map and decided to try using the map to navigate. "Stay close to the wall and you shouldn't have any issues Skylar. You have this." He encouraged himself.

So, using the rather risky strategy of not watching where he was going, he began to make progress. He only just kept missing the other security bots but didn't think he could take their flashlights anyways. It was a security thing. He suddenly looked up. He had seen something on the cameras right in his area but hadn't been able to make out why exactly it was. He couldn't hear anything either thanks to the rushing of water or the sound effects of the attraction. He glanced around at the green foliage that surrounded his place at a crossroads. He had three paths he could take, each leading to a different part of the area. But he couldn't see what he had on the cameras.

'Maybe it was Monty passing through? He would blend in with the area well enough. And it's loud enough here to cover up whatever sound he would make.' Skylar reasoned with himself. He nodded to himself at the logical conclusion. Obviously the shy- or maybe uncomfortable was the better description - gator had avoided him. Not that Skylar could blame him. If the guards he had dealt with earlier that night were like any of the other security personnel, he wouldn't want to deal with them either. Shaking his head to be rid of the thoughts and the paranoid feeling of being watched closely, he chose the left-most path. It was just best to keep to the wall he figured. Until he could get his light charged at least.

He went back to his strategy, which while risky was working for him so far. Until of course, it didn't. He had drifted too close to the rails while he was checking the camera ahead of the one, he was on to figure out how close he was to the security office, and since he had sped up due to his lack of obstacles so far, had run right into the knee-high railing. And promptly began tipping over it. He cried out as he reached for the rails to halt his descent, only to have a sturdy arm wrap around his waist and one of his flailing arms.

He was pulled back swiftly and securely by none other than Montgomery himself. "Th- thank you for the s- save." Skylar stuttered out, not noticing the tight grip he had on Monty's hands.

"Uh huh. You're welcome." The gator mumbled, sounding distinctly uncomfortable. "Be a bit more careful, would you?" He suddenly growled out, interrupting Skylar's continued thanks. "It might not be that deep in there, but I guarantee there's a good chance you're gonna get hurt even with the short fall." He scolded the guard who blinked in surprise, not expecting the outburst. "And why in the name of golf are you wandering around in the dark? Not looking where you're going?" He demanded.

"I forgot to charge my flashlight before I arrived here and the only other one is in the security office." Skylar answered his interrogator honestly. "And I didn't run into any of the security bots." He added.

Monty let out a suffering sounding sigh. "They don't patrol this walkway, of course you didn't run into one." He grumbled. "Also, the security office is on the other side of the last hole. Not this one. So you were going to have to cross the water ways anyways." Skylar shuffled a bit in place, a little embarrassed by his mix up.

"Um... Sorry for the worry." He said a bit timidly. This night had definitely not gone as he had expected it too. Monty grumbled under his breath and then tightened the hold he had on the guard's hand.

"Come on then. I'll take you to the office. Just don't forget to charge your flashlight next time." He told Skylar gruffly. Skylar beamed and nodded.

"I won't Monty. And thanks." He added softly. Monty huffed in reply. The trek wasn't too much longer since he had made some good progress on his own. The walk was also quiet, but it didn't feel too suffocating or awkward which Skylar- and Monty- were thankful for. The moment Skylar was safely in the office and his flashlight charged, Monty gave the guard one last stern warning and then he disappeared back into the green of the attraction, quickly blending in. Skylar smiled at the gator's care and after he finished registering his badge and checking the cameras a bit more, he made his way through the back halls and towards the main atrium. Next stop was Bonnie Bowl on the second floor.

FNAF

Skylar had always enjoyed bowling. Even as a kid, it was one of the things that he could do without having to rely on others since he was never good with others. He had always been labeled as a weirdo because of it... He wasn't affected by those words any longer, even though they had hurt back then. He looked around the room with a smile. He hadn't had time to go to a bowling alley in years, so it was nice seeing one again. It was dimly lit, not too bright but definitely not dark. He noticed the little diner, the tables, and the alley ways. One of which had a 7-foot baby blue bunny bowling a strike. His ears were another foot high, making him almost 8-foot. Skylar watched the bunny bowl for a while longer. "You just gonna watch? Or are you gonna say something?" Bonnie suddenly asked facing him. Skylar was a bit taken aback at the suddenness of the question but soldiered on.

"Sorry, I didn't want to distract you. You have a rather impressive game." Skylar replied. And it was true. It was mostly strikes except for a couple of frames. "Um, I'm Skylar. I'm the new security guard for the graveyard shift. And I'm qualified to take care of any issues you might find yourself facing." He introduced himself. Bonnie looked him up and down, scanning him like Freddy had.

"Uh huh. You." he muttered, and Skylar felt just a little insulted but let it slide. "Nice to meet you, I guess. We'll see how long you last." Bonnie said, picking up his bowling ball and turning back to his game. Skylar was a bit flabbergasted at the blatant lack of faith.

He knew they didn't know him but geeze. He watched Bonnie land another strike before he snuck away, not wanting to disturb his game. The bowling alley was larger than Kids Cove had been, then there were the back rooms. He swept through every room and registered his badge at security. After shifting through the cameras for a bit, he left so he could make his way to the Faz-Cade. It was outside that he ran into Moon who gave all clear for the utility tunnels and basement rooms. Skylar relayed his all clear, though he thinks the other muttered something about water ways before disappearing. He sighed, noticing it was already four in the morning and he only had two hours left. He was going to have to pick up his pace. Thankfully, he didn't need to go into the locked stores or gift shops thanks to the security bots he could see through the gates. He finished up the rest of the floors, registering his cards at the offices before making his way to the utility tunnels 45 minutes before his shift ended.

He hadn't really bumped into any of the animatronics again, figuring they were all busy with their own things. He knew they visited each other and their attractions throughout the night. He hoped he'd be able to get along with them as he continued working there. He made it through the first basement area which held the kitchens, dining rooms, loading docks, and locker rooms for the employees. He had actually checked this area first when he was still with the other night shifters and had wondered when he'd get back to the area. He may also have grabbed a snack as he missed his last break. He made a mental note to carry a few on him so he didn't have to go all the way back just to get some food for breaks as well as some spare change to hit up the vending machines if he needed too. After a quick run through of the warehouse that housed the spare endos, he checked around Parts and Service before taking the main stage platform up and back into the man areas just in time for his final check in with Moon. He stretched his body as he ran through the task list, just to make sure he hadn't missed anything. Seeing he was in the clear, he made his way to the main check in where he would wait for George before grabbing his stuff and clocking out for the evening.

He hadn't gotten to interact much with the animatronics, but Skylar was optimistic about that changing the more he got used to his new job. He gave George his brief report before they went to the locker rooms. It was about 15 after 6AM that Skylar left the building to return to his new quarters. There had been some ups and downs during his first shift. But for the most part, things had gone smoothly, and Skylar just knew he was going to enjoy his new job. He couldn't wait for his next shift already.

A/N: There we go. We'll hopefully have more of everyone in the next chapter, which is going to involve his first week and some important points in it. Until next time and thanks for reading!
