"I'll be eating now, so if you got any weapons for swapping and stuff, put it on the armor but… try and not make them too explosive… pretty sure one wrong shot and I would go off like one of those old atomic bombs that used to be used in the past." Emerald said before he ran off leaving Chief with the armor.
"He is something." Chief said before speaking to Cortana.
"Cortana, have you found any other chatter of our missing allies?"
"Somewhat… I've heard occasional chatter on the coms on both sides about a… truce or something… but can't make much out of it… but heard that Cedric is with a strange group of Covanent… given he has blue hair and stuff, he is easy to not make a mistake in recognizing, seems Azure and Rachel survived the Autumn… no details on location but seems they are working their way to us… unfortunately at the rate they're going, we would miss Keyes before they can join us and we figure out what this truce thing is about… for now we should focus on Keyes and deal with this truce thing later… just in case Chief in case these covenant did something to Cedric, Rachel, and Azure, and any other surviving marines in a new form of attack via brainwashing or something, try and not be too friendly with Cedric and the others… after all if they are traveling with Covanent, either prisoners, traitors, or very least reluctant allies… we don't know the full story but since were still getting attacked by other covenant, either its a small group of traitors in the covenant or people trying to trick us into letting our guard down… remember not to do that until we figure things out." Cortana warned… it was one thing to trust chatter on the coms for both sides and word of mouth but if this many people were saying things, better watch out in case the Covanent have brainwashing tech now… even allies could become enemies if they were not careful… it wasn't a thing persay… honestly if Cortana and Chief knew what was going on with the group of Covenant Cedric was with… technically not too far off given what happened with Azure and the commander…
"Agreed." Chief said as he now wondered what is going on with Cedric's side.
Still he could wonder about Cedric and his mentality later… for now he focused on getting a few more weapons on Emerald's armor… hell he even got an interesting item for Emerald to use so he wouldn't just use his fists and Chief looks amused when he stepped back as he spoke to Cortana while the camera hid the item from view for now.
"Wonder if he will like this?... would make it hard for him to move in tight places but he can drag the thing if needed." Chief said while he was cryptic on what the item was.
Cortana chuckles.
"True. His reaction could be funny."
The scene than went to Emerald as he got to Maite and saw her waving to him when she had a large tray of food for her and Emerald to eat from as he approached.
"Hey Emerald. Managed to get us a nice big meal for us." Maite said with a smile.
"Thanks… Chief decked out my armor in weaponry and stuff and could be adding more for all of us to use so I'm running a auto check thing on the armor while I eat, need to make sure its fully intact since I took serious beatings in the armor recently." Emerald said while sat next to Maite.
"No kidding." Maite said as she remembers those beatings Emerald took.
"Yeah… anyway as we eat… just to make sure that… I'm not hallucinating and stuff from earlier in case I had a concussion… we… are now boyfriend and girlfriend right and?... we lost our virginities to one another?... sorry honestly given how insane things were, just want to make sure that yesterday wasn't all some kind of insane fever dream… know what I mean?" Emerald said while he blushed.
Maite also blushed.
"Right… though you weren't hallucinating." She said.
Emerald blushed more.
"I-I see… well since thats the case…" Emerald said before he moved to stand a little, kiss Maite's cheek, and sat down fully before he went to eat his meal with a blush on his face.
Maite also blushed at the gesture as she went to eat as well.
As the duo ate, some people nearby look surprised by what Emerald did and Maite not clocking him one or something… like they were dating now of all things… here on enemy territory and more.
"Is this for real?" One marine whispers.
"Seems like it… not sure how but seems that guy just got lucky getting a Spartan woman… wonder how long it will last if its a phase for stress relief though." Another whispered to the first.
Many other marines thought the same thing as Maite and Emerald paid them no mind.
In no time, the duo finished their meal and Emerald got a notification that his armor was good to go, was a bit encumbered though making Emerald blink.
"What the?" Emerald said in a confused way as he moved to run back to the armor with Maite seeing Emerald looking somewhat worried.
"What's wrong Emerald?" Maite said.
"Armor is fine but seems Chief overencumbered it, thats a shocker given I was able to carry three Gravity hammers so I'm worried Chief put an entire armory on my armor, may either slow me down or I can't move at all." Emerald said while he was followed by Maite when she ran after Emerald and when they got to the armor…
"W-What the hell!?" Emerald said with some shock on his face when he saw his armor decked out in many weapons but that wasn't the shocker… no… there was a damn slab of raw metal on the back of the armor that was in the shape of a greatsword… more like a slab of metal given how large it was and looked recently made as well… no wonder the armor was weighed down… it had a freaking Greatsword made to be a ton of weight on the back alone…
"Wow… that's… something." Maite said as she was surprised.
"No kidding… no wonder my armor is encumbered… even if I don't have trouble moving, forget jumping and what not, I may not be able to jump at all with how weighed down the armor is… let me equip the armor and see how bad things are." Emerald said when he approached the armor and it moved automatically to open up for Emerald and after he got in and it closed, it activated and Maite waits for a moment before.
"O-Oh… this is bad… very bad…" Emerald said when he moved around but at a much slower rate than he was used to when simply walking felt heavier than ever, even his visor showed comical focused narrow eyes showing how much effort he was using in moving around.
Maite sweatdrops.
"Yeah…"
"Ok… may keep the sword but try and remove some of the heavier items like this rocket launcher and other stuff…" Emerald said while he waits for Maite to remove things though…
"Won't be necessary, its a combo of weapons going with us and weapons many will take from you so when we get to the mission area, you won't have as much weight as you do now, many just carry pistols right now." Chief said when he approached the duo as he placed a few packs of grenades and energy grenades on Emerald's arms.
"Still… his movements will be slow. How soon do we leave?" Maite said.
"10 minutes, I'll explain on the Pelican on the mission, just know that things will be intense once we land so the more weapons the better, come on, I'll show you where the Pelican is so you can get on." Chief said when he looks at Emerald and Chief moved to grab some more grenades and carried them himself while Emerald growls from the effort as he starts walking after Chief… can be good training if he thought about it.
Maite sweatdrops from this.
'Looks like I'm gonna have to cheer Emerald later after saving the Captain and co.' She thought.
As Maite followed Emerald, in no time, the Pelican took off when a large number of soldiers got on as Chief looks at everyone while Cortana's voice was heard on the intercom speaker.
"OK, as a recap everyone we are going to save captain Keyes from the ship we are heading to, the Truth and Reconciliation, strange name I know, but know it will be heavily guarded, we will be dropped off a bit from the ship at a safe time so we can sneak in, and if not… well we have our walking armory who has many weapons set up on him so just grab a weapon and fire away, however try and not do anything stupid… best case senario, we save the captain and the others from the Autumn, bad news is that they maybe dead, and horrible news is they maybe in a state worse than death, so while we work our way in, we will be trying to be careful, we don't have backup besides other survivors from the Autumn who managed to survive the crash onto this ring like structure, all in all, think smart and show no mercy to any who stand in your way, if enemies surrender, don't kill, we maybe able to get info from them if you heard the chatter on some communication signals from others about Cedric and his group… be weary though, if you see them, try and not make contact yet, they could be brainwashed and right now we should focus on saving the captain…" Cortana said while a number of miles away…
"Though, if you see them, try and not make contact yet, they could be brainwashed and right now we should focus on saving the captain…" Cortana's voice said while Cedric and many others listened in on a long range one way coms line for receiving orders, they couldn't say anything to Cortana and given the talk, looks like they would be moving from the camp to the Truth and Reconciliation for the most part and the camp would be on alart for possible *Brainwashed* Soldiers with Covanent claiming they had a truce right now.
"What? Brainwashed? Well that's just great." Cedric said as he was not liking the part of his comrades thinking that but can't blame them.
"Given things, makes sense that they would think that, we have to be careful that we don't cause too many issues since this could end badly if not done right." Han said while she rubs her mandibles.
"No kidding." Cedric said.
"Still, at least we know where they are going." Rachel said.
"Indeed… the Truth and Reconciliation is a high classed warship… getting in via a grav lift would be their best bet, a frontal attack would be suicide." Han said while Caulifla rolls her eyes.
"Well not like we can help them, maybe escorting these guys but remember Lady Han were still with the covenant and only helping this guy and his group because of a truce… won't matter much if we blow our cover so may as well bring them close and pretend to help so we don't cause issues for the Commander." Caulifla said while she had a serious look on her face.
"She has a point. Granted they could beat us there depending on our travel." Cedric said.
"Yeah, we should focus on getting to the camp… if we are careful we can get things set up in there being better relations if we plan how to not have everyone in the camp being hostile to us at worst or on guard at best… can't beat a Pelican on foot after all." Rachel said when she knew most couldn't fly here… well not most anyway.
The group nodded their heads as they continue their walk.
As this happened, time passed to a bit later with the Pelican with Chief, Maite, Emerald, and many Marines all getting off the Pelican as Cortana's voice was heard on the comms.
"One more time before we get to work, the enemy has captured Captain Keyes and others from the Autumn and are holding them aboard one of their Cruisers, the Truth and Reconcillation… the ship is currently in position approximately 300 meters above the other end of this Plateau, as a further recap before any who missed this ask, there is a Gravity lift that helps ferry troops and supplies between the Surface and the ship, that will be our ticket in… once we get inside the ship I should be able to lock on to the tracking signal from Captain Keyes's Neural implants." Cortana said as Sergeant Avery Johnson, or known to many as Sergeant Johnson took charge.
"Hit it Marines!, Go go go!, the Corps ain't paying us by the hour!" Johnson said when many Marines grabbed their weapons off of Emerald's armored suit making Emerald feel much lighter and BARELY getting him out of the red allowing him to move fast as he followed after Chief and Maite… this started the infiltration of the Truth and Reconciliation in full… like in the game the group went to higher ground to try and avoid being spotted but given there were gunners… well when Cortana told chief he had to use a sniper rifle to take out the Gunners… Emerald sighs when he heard this as he passed chief a Sniper rifle.
"Its never easy with even small fights huh?" Emerald said while he had a sweatdrop icon on his visor.
"Nothing is ever easy." Chief said.
Chief than aimed his sniper rifle at the enemy and the moment he started firing, chaos happened with many hearing the sound of a loud as hell Sniper rifle tipping off where the enemy was to the covenant… thankfully while the grunts and others of the covenant did show which was bad, the Chief took out the main threat with the gunners and cannon blasters being unmanned so when the group ran in to attack, it was rather fast… Emerald even rushed a group of covenant and used the greatsword and well… many had wide eyes, Emerald himself when he sliced right through Covenant in a rather bloody way ALA a Guts like attack from Berserk… for a general idea the Greatsword Emerald used may as well be the Dragonslayer with how deadly it is so normal energy armor wouldn't last under a good direct blow from the weapon… and Emerald got covered in blood much to his chagrin while he looks at Chief.
"Seriously?... where did you get the idea for this?" Emerald asked when he looks at the bloody greatsword.
"Eh… sometimes the simplest things are best." was all Chief said as he ran by while being a bit cryptic.
Maite blinks a bit.
"If it helps, you look much cooler with that." She said.
Emerald blushed from this as the group continues further, taking out various covenant while avoiding things like Cannon and airship fire when some ships dropped off more covenant to deploy, in no time with well timed attacks and pincer attacks to make up for the lack of numbers, the group made it to the massive Gravity lift… however this place was well guarded by a number of cannons… thankfully Chief took control of one allowing him to rain energy based hell on the covenant while Emerald covered the marines with his armor and greatsword being a good shield which some hid behind to fire from while Maite rushed around with her rifle as she took down various grunts and enemy Sangheili and Brutes with deadly efficiency.
Just when things were over… two new Covenant warriors appeared… and they have big shields.
"Oh boy… these two are new." Emerald said when he saw before him two Mgalekgolo or Hunters, a group of Eel like aliens who were called Lekgolo that could combine to form the dangerous enemy before them… and by dangerous… well aside the shields on their left arms, their man threat was not only their durability but the massive arm cannon they had on their right arm… individulally relatively speaking, the Hunters were the most dangerous of all Covanent enemies, even beings like Arbiters or highly skilled Sangheili were able to be overpowered by them.
"Yeah well they won't be new for long." Chief said as he opened fire on one to get its attention… however thanks to the armor and the shield, unless a weak point was hit, hard to deal with a Hunter… Emerald on his end than rushed the other Hunter… while it did open fire on him and hit him, Emerald's armor took a number of hits and didn't buckle since it could tank Wraith fire and while he did swing the greatsword, it didn't do much besides forcing the Hunter back… this in turn had Emerald speak to Maite and Chief.
"I'll keep this guy busy, you two deal with the other guy." Emerald said while he didn't look away from the Hunter he was facing since that Cannon was no joke… may not be as powerful as Wraith's tank cannons… but could be rapid fired in comparison at a slow but consistent rate so he had to be careful.
Maite and Chief nodded as the trio deal with the hunters while the marines tried to give support.
For Maite and Chief, when they ran around the Hunter they fought, they found out that while the front was so armored that their weaponry couldn't do much, from the back were many weak points they could exploit when they hit some flesh of the Hunter making it stumble before it turned to fire at one of them, Chief was using a few energy grenades to get its attention leaving Maite with back attack duty.
Maite got serious as she starts shooting at the Hunter's back.
This results in the Hunter not able to keep up, if it took its attention to fight Maite, Chief would use a sniper rifle to harm it from the back and if it focused on Chief, Maite would pelt it with rapidfire attacks from her rifle… this had the Hunter move to run when it looks around fast while it made sure to keep aware of where Maite and Chief were so when it turned to get to a certain spot and looks at Maite and Chief, its back was no longer to them thanks to the fact that its back was to a cliff face and it could barrage the group of Marines and Spartans with energy blasts from its right arm showing this guy was not an idiot… when Legolo formed a Mgalekgolo… they formed a fully intelligent sentient minded hive mind like being, so despite its appearance, was smarter than it looked since it was making use of its environment.
"Damn… gonna need a different idea." Maite said.
"Indeed… keep him busy." Chief said when he moved somewhere leaving Maite with the Hunter as it aimed its Cannon arm at her.
Maite went for cover the second the Hunter shot at her before Maite starts distracting it.
As this happened, Emerald on his end was managing to hold his own Hunter with various attacks from the greatsword but thanks to how the shield was, things seemed stalemated when Emerald didn't give the Hunter range to fire… honestly its only thanks to the two having such high tier armor than neither went down easily and this showed when Emerald tried to knock it off balance with a punch with his free hand but it barely moved the Hunter and Emerald had to raise his Greatsword to act like a shield to block a hit from the surprisingly heavy shield arm the Hunter had… thanks to it weighing 2 tons or so, was deadly in even light hits. (A/N from TME: Fun fact, the two ton thing is a Halo wiki thing, if I am wrong please let me know.)
"Shit!..." Emerald growls while he got his bearings and watched as the Hunter aimed at him with the Cannon arm but some Marines firing at the Hunter's back got the Hunter's attention when marines came to Emerald's aid.
"Come on you son of a bitch!" The marine said.
This angered the Hunter who tried to swing its arm to attack the Marine's but Emerald throwing his Greatsword at the Hunter caused it to knock it over the edge of the Cliff when it blocked the hit but this was a distraction when Emerald rushed to the Hunter and with a roar, he slugged it in the side knocking it to the side for a moment when Emerald's strength and speed were no longer encumbered by the heavy metal slowing him giving him more momentum and impact with his blows, this made his punches actually knock the Hunter around and when it was momentarily dazed, Emerald gripped both its arms and Emerald moved to spin around and actually swings the Hunter around, in no time Emerald gave one good throw and well… the Hunter was flung over the cliffedge and out of sight, while it was hard to tell if the Hunter was dead or not, one thing was clear, the Hunter wouldn't be back anytime soon given how high the cliff was as Emerald takes a moment to pant for breath while some Marine's cheered at the win.
"Yeah! Way to go soldier!" Another Marine spoke.
Though the cheers came to an end fast when the first Hunter seeing its ally taken out of the fight got PISSED… and it showed when it ignored Maite and Emerald screams when he was hit from the side from a few Arm cannon blasts knocking him to the side and while his armor took the hits, he was in critical levels of danger when they would give out soon.
"Emerald!" Maite said before getting angry and starts throwing grenades at the Hunter.
This made the Hunter curl up into an armored ball when it used its Shield to block the blast before it got up and as it aimed at Emerald again since Maite wasn't a threat so to speak, and while it did take aim, intense energy fire barraged the Hunter hitting it intensely making some look to see Chief as he manned one of the enemy gunner turrets and was barraging it with constant energy rounds that critically injured it when many of its weak points were hit thanks to the angle and with Maite throwing a grenade behind the Hunter, it got killed with a good hit to finish it off and while some Marine's cheered, Maite instantly rushed to Emerald as Emerald groans when he got up and held his head as his armor's energy shield recharged thanks to the lack of gunfire hitting him while he had comical swirls on his visor showing he took heavy hits.
"Are you okay Emerald?" Maite said.
"U-Ugh… yeah… glad this armor is so durable, we win?" Emerald said in a partial daze when he wondered if anything else would come their way as Emerald's shield recharged.
That's when the Chief approached the duo.
"For now we won. We still have to get in the ship."
"R-Right." Emerald said as he stumbles to the Gravlift but not before he looks at Chief.
"Sorry about the Greatsword by the way… had to try a desperate move when that guy was trying to blast Marines." Emerald said when he recovered as he rubs his helmet covered head.
"Don't worry about it considering things." Chief said.
"Thanks, I'll get on the lift while we wait for reinforcements to get here." Emerald said when he moved to get on the lift while hoping no more Hunters were appearing anytime soon.
After a moment, Master Chief, Maite and the other marines managed to regroup and joined Emerald on the lift.
When they did, as they heard from Cortana that they may find the Captain near the ship's Bridge, and when reinforcements came, many got on the ship with Emerald looking around.
"Huh… lot… of purple… easy on the eyes at least." Emrald said while he figured the place would be more… depressing looking.
"Either way, we better be on the lookout for any more covenant forces now." Maite said.
"Actually Maite, from what I can tell, no Covenant defenses detected and I can tell where the Captain is." Cortana said while Chief looks on guard.
"A trap most likely." Chief said getting everyone on guard and while nothing happened, wouldn't be hard to say that the moment they get further into the ship, the defenses would kick in.
Just then, one of the marines yelled in pain before everyone looked back and turns out that he got stabbed by an energy sword.
"No!" Maite yelled when she fired where the energy sword was but nothing was hit, seems that to avoid the hit, whoever stabbed the marine who dropped dead let go of the blade but it was yanked from the body a moment later as Emerald grits his teeth while Cortana spoke seriously.
"Sangheili invisibility, pay attention, its not true invisibility!... if you focus you san see the air shimmer where the Sangheili is!" Cortana said while many got on guard as they look around… in no time Chief rushed to Maite and hit the air behind her knocking a Sangheili warrior out of his cloaked state and Chief barraged him with rifle bullets and Emerald on his end rushed to some marines and lariats the Air, hitting two Sangheili on the torso's making them hit the wall HARD enough to knock them out while huge dents were formed from where they were… some doors nearby opened and grunts and some Brutes came from the openings starting a full firefight with bullets and energy bullets blasting through the air.
The marines took cover as they try to take out the grunts and brutes.
While this happened, Maite had to back Emerald up when Emerald looked like he was trying to get something off his head like something got him in a headlock as an energy blade shimmered near his back with a second invisible Sangheili was about to strike.
Maite saw this before shooting in the air.
When she did, she hit Emerald a few times but this got him free when the Sangheili was stunned and he jumped back and smashed the Sangheili into the wall and used that to bounce off and he saw Maite firing at another invisible Sangheili and he rushed to shoulder tackle the guy dazing him which allowed Chief to knock the now visible Sangheili on the head knocking him out in no time and while there were casualties on the Marine sides, was much less than many would think and most Covanent were dead in the room as Emerald used some kind of bindings that he had found when he looks around and got the still living Sangheili bound.
"Damn… that was intense… never expected a sneak attack." Emerald said while Chief looks at him.
"This is war, as long as it gets results, many will do anything to win a fight, even if it means dishonerable or deplorable acts… Sangheili rarely use sneak attacks so shows we caught them off guard." Chief said when he reloads his rifle.
"Yeah… which means we have to expect more like that." Maite said.
"Right… Marine's stay in a close nit group, if you see shimmering at all, or hear anything, don't hesitate to unleash bullet hell… lets get going and see if we can get the captain and others out of here and hopefully not lose other good men and women here." Chief said when he looks at the marines to give them a moral boost of sorts.
"Right!" The marines said.
As this happened, Cortana spoke over the coms.
"We can use the side passages to find ways around, just be careful of possible covenant run ins… also Emerald… get ready because your biggest fear may come… tight hallways…" Cortana forboadingly said making Emerald gulp.
"Oh man… not sure if I should be happy if I can be a shield if thats the case or worried about getting stuck." Emerald said while he looks dejected at the possibility of getting stuck.
Maite pats Emerald on the back.
"Don't worry. Let's focus on saving the Captain and once we escape and make camp, I'll cheer you up."
Emerald blushed from this making his visor comically glow pink where his cheeks would be showing he liked what he heard… this results in the group looking around and Emerald walking into a narrow hall… it was narrow but not narrow enough to get him stuck… he did sweatdrop though when he noticed he was being followed by many.
"Guess I'm the hard to kill meatshield huh?" Emerald said with Chief staying on guard.
"You do have the strongest armor and can withstand a few energy grenades, we will take it slow so you don't get killed before us." Chief states making Emerald sweatdrop at how blunt he was when he didn't deny the fact he was more or less a meatshield right now… least he was well armored or Emerald would be a bit ticked but given that they had a mission right now, better to be safe than sorry.
"Right… if I seen an enemy alone, I'll rush them though so try and keep up." Emerald said and low and behold a grunt was seen around the corner making everyone look at the grunt as the grunt looks nervous before Emerald chargaed the Grunt with a roar more or less being an unavoidable battering ram in the halls and the grunt screams when he was launched from Emerald into a wall, this caused a few more enemies to appear but Emerald bum rushing them and with occasional help from others made things MUCH more speedy than in cannon since these tight halls made it hard for even a large group of enemies to avoid the unavoidable bowling ball called Emerald.
One marine, a female, nudged Maite.
"Tough boyfriend you have." She said.
Maite blushed from this as she focuses on the mission and as they worked to get further, thanks to the Comms still being heard by Cedric and few others as they walked, they were hearing how fast they were getting by the Truth and Reconciliation after taking out some Sangheili ambushers and more.
"Huh… not sure what kind of armor that Emerald guy has but seems he is not bad in it for a non-Spartan human." Han said while she remembered hearing of Cedric's friend and Emerald more or less being bulky was handy in this case.
"Indeed. Guy can literally take a beating… especially with a grenade thrown." Cedric said.
"Tanky armor… guess if anyone else wore the thing they would be unstoppable by normal means for humans at least." Nova said since she and Saiyans like Caulifla could probably take Emerald easily even in his armor unless it had features that could be used to counter Tamaranian and Saiyan abilities.
"HA!... for humans and normal Covenant at least… pretty sure if we were not on our limiters, would easily rip him apart if he tries to attack us… hell if we do go officially on the humans side, hopefully I can get these damn restrictors off and really run wild and show that Saiyans are not to be underestimated." Caulifla said while she grins as she hits her knuckles together hard.
Cedric sweatdrops.
"Kinda already did. Either way, best to not underestimate Emerald if he was chosen for that armor."
"Technically no on your side yet Cedric, need to make sure this meeting goes well… that will probably be the hardest part… after all your human allies have it easy on the Truth and Reconciliation… they can at least gun their problems down… you on the other hand will have to talk to your human allies and convince them were not against them… this truce can be made or broken depending on how things go." Han said as a new voice was heard nearby.
"Indeed Han… if this truce doesn't go well, we will be going back to being enemies and unless these humans want to do anything stupid so close to powerful warriors like Nova and Caulifla without limiters, they wouldn't risk this by just rushing." A male voice said making many look and Nova blushed when she saw the Sangheili warrior male who Cedric spoke with, seems he was riding a strange vehicle that floated above the ground, looked like it could only fit one person, looked like a fast land vehicle, to many who knew it, it was called a Ghost, a high speed vehicle with two powerful rapifire energy guns on the front, could move in 360 degree directions horizontally and while not as durable as other Covenant vehicles, was able to cover large distances fast so no wonder this guy caught up with them easily.
"M-My lord." Nova said as she bowed to the Sangheili warrior.
"At ease Nova, I just got here so no need for pleasantries… I scouted ahead and seems this Camp your heading to is well guarded, unless we make a plan, we would be shot on sight." The Sangheili warrior said while Han hums.
"Well Cedric… looks like the hard part is here now… the Spartan's can go with you but the rest of us should wait here just in case, good luck in talking with many… one of us can go with you but its your call in who will be the delegate." Han said while the Vice commander speaks.
