How would have Christian Grey's life turned out if the Greys had intervened when Elena tried to sink her claws into him? Would he still be the same man as we know, or someone completely different ...

Chapter 51: An Eye For An Eye
Christian's PoV
I frown looking at the address, it's Ana's place. I know for a fact that Ana is not aware of this. I proposed to her lunch this morning, and she said that she already made plans with her coworkers. So it means it will be just the Colonel and me. And I have no idea what he wants with me.
At least, for once, he made an appointment, though he didn't give me much of a choice. Maybe he wants to make sure that I know how to take care of a dog since Ana said that he helped her pick up Lola. Or maybe he just enjoys killing my peace of mind all the time.
I am briefly tempted to call Elliott to see if he had the same treatment since the Colonel is so fond of Kate, but I refrain. I don't want to give Elliott ammo if this isn't the Colonels' usual route.
So at twelve sharp, I am in front of Ana's door, doing my best to not overthink it. After all, the Colonel never tried to hide the fact that he doesn't particularly like me, and if he was displeased with me, I am sure that he would have told me straight away, and not waited for lunch.
I don't have time to think if I should knock or wait, because he opens the door from the inside and invites me in as if it was his home. I follow him to the open space of the kitchen and living room and see that there is food on the table. Mac & Cheese. At least the man has taste.
"Annie mentioned that you liked plain old mac&cheese a few weeks ago," he lets me know, sitting on one end of the table and indicating to me to do the same.
I have never been one to skip a meal, Lord knows I care about my food. But the prospect of eating en tête à tête with Ana's father is settling a pit in my stomach. Still, I do as told, and notice out loud,
"Only two plates?"
"Yes. Annie has no idea that I am seeing you. In fact, I am supposed to be on my way to her mother, and as far as she's concerned, that's the way it is."
He looks deep into my eyes, making sure that I understood his innuendo and that I won't blabber to his daughter that I saw him. He serves us both generous portions of pasta and tells me,
"It's just … her visit this weekend was not planned. And it left me … perplexed shall we say."
I dig into the food, though I still take note of the fact that Ana lied to me. When I asked her to stay with me, she said that she had already made plans with her father. And now the Colonel is saying otherwise. She could have stayed with me and I'm not sure how to take that. Is she trying to distance herself because of what I've told her or was Martha right and Ana has no idea how to react and she didn't want to hurt me?
I look back at the Colonel, and suddenly, I am no longer seeing this military man who has done everything in his power to make me feel uncomfortable in his presence. I don't even see a father. I see just a man.
He clears his throat and says,
"No matter how things will go between us in the future, I will always be honest with you Christian. You had the courtesy to admit to me the last time we saw each other that you had done research on me, and I will return it, I have done the same. From the moment I saw you at the graduation, I dug into your past and I used my means of information to do so.
And I have found things that I never shared with Annie. It is not my place to tell her about you. No matter what, I have no place within your relationship. Still … I think that you shared a part of your past with her and that is why she came to see me this weekend. She didn't say a word to me and I don't think she ever will. Annie knows how to keep what others share to herself.
But I'm her father, and doing what I do, what I did, I know a thing or two about my daughter. She didn't come to me for support, she came for advice, even though she'll never admit it and thinks that she covered her tracks well."
I don't say a word, staying silent as he tells me all of this. I don't know what he's expecting me to say. I have just told Ana about my past and I don't intend on telling anyone else. And I don't even know if he's talking about Detroit or about Elena. Does he want me to jump in his arms seeking support? So why did he ask for this lunch?
"I did a little digging Saturday night. I know she's out."
So he's talking about Elena. Unless Ella has risen from the dead. I take another bite of the mac and cheese and he puts his fork down, looking at me and forcing me to look deep in his brown eyes. I am so glad that they look nothing alike because that would be awkward otherwise.
"Now Christian, remember what I do. This is a conversation that I will never admit to having and that I will never allude to again, no matter what. What is said today in this room is to remain between the two of us. Do you want me to take care of her?"
