Thalia found a plain white ceiling staring back at her when her eyes fluttered open. Her head suddenly pounded with an unexpected pain and she wished she would have kept her eyes shut. Oh well. Her back was pressed against a firm bed that seemed to put pressure on her spine and pop it in different areas when she moved. Her waist down was covered by warm covers.
When she tried flexing both her hands though, Thalia felt her right hand held against the bed. She shifted her eyes to find a figure with blonde hair sitting in a chair beside her bed, one arm used as a pillow while holding her hand with his left hand. He was sound asleep. He had long gold blonde hair with a beard and mustache to match his hair. Braids were braided into his long mustache and one long braid had half of his hair pulled back. Those thick gold blonde eyebrows framed his closed eyelids.
Now remembering: the image of those beautiful cobalt blue eyes staring into her deep brown eyes while he had held her in his arms to steady her before she passed out! Thalia let out a gasp when the image came crashing back to her memory!
Thalia began putting the pieces together. She had went to her shrink, Mister Barns one last time to talk to him and to say goodbye. She had bought a one-way plane ticket to Greece where she planned on spending the last of her days before climbing to the top of the highest mountain to build a nest and execute herself by setting herself on fire. But while she was packing for her one-way trip to Greece, the friends of her now-ex-boyfriend had showed up to her house to teach her a lesson for going to the police to report the horrific crime her now-ex-boyfriend had committed against her. She had ran through the house trying to escape while defending herself against her ex's friends. But when Thalia and one of the guys took a tumble down the stairs, she had felt herself fall through a portal of some sort that had cut open her skin in many places along her arms due to the air feeling like a thousand knives - knives or needles, when she crashed through the portal and fell down to land on top of a hard table - avoiding her ex's friend by doing a backwards somersault off the table to avoid him landing on top of her when he fell through after her.
Managing to land on her feet, Thalia defended herself against her ex's friend when he tried to hurt her - having finally caught her in a steel grip, but before he could do anything, she saw him suddenly being ripped off of her and dealt with...was it this man who saved her? She couldn't remember. She did know he was the one who protectively wrapped his arms around her so she could steady herself before passing out. Now here she was, laying in an unfamiliar bed in a very unfamiliar place with the same man holding her right hand in his left hand while using his right arm as a pillow.
Trying to sit up, Thalia felt pain shoot throughout her body! She let out a moan before falling back against the bed. Apparently her moan was loud, because she found the blonde haired man now looking at her with his cobalt blue eyes. She felt her cheeks catch fire!
"Hi."
"Hi." The man smiled at her. "How are you feeling?"
"Fine except for a headache." Thalia was never one to complain. She just dealt with her problems but at that moment, she couldn't do anything about her pounding head.
Reaching for something near the head of her bed, the man sat back down with a bottle now in his hand. He unscrewed the cap and after dumping a small white pill into the palm of his hand, offered it to her along with a small cup of water. Thalia took the pill and water from the man in thanks - smiling weakly, before popping the pill into her mouth and downing it with the water.
"That will help with your headache and any other pain you may have, but it will make you drowsy." The man screwed the cap back onto the bottle and set it back down near her head. He took the empty cup when she handed it to him.
Thalia curiously stared at the man as his cobalt blue eyes locked with her deep brown ones. "You were there." She uttered randomly before she could stop herself. "You were in the same room as me when I fell through the portal and landed on the table."
"I was." The man confirmed, smiling at the fact her memory was still intact.
Furrowing her eyebrows in slight confusion, Thalia said, "where am I?"
"In the healing house." The man replied matter-of-factly.
Slightly shaking her head, Thalia reiterated her question. "No, where am I? What place am I in?"
"You're in Erebor," proudly stated the man.
"Erebor?" Thalia asked, trying to figure out why that name sounded so familiar.
"Erebor is The Ancient Dwarf Kingdom east of The Misty Mountains of Middle-Earth." the man offered as a way to help jolt her memory.
Thalia stared straight into the man's eyes. "Erebor as in Erebor: The Dwarf Kingdom reclaimed by the Dwarf none other than Thorin Oakenshield - that Erebor?" She asked, fear filling her eyes and gripping her heart.
As a way to calm her down, the man began gently rubbing the tip of his finger up and down the length of her bare forearm. "Yes, that Erebor. My uncle, Thorin Oakenshield, is the king of Erebor."
Well that helped! Thalia felt her fear subside a bit but not much. But then a thoughtful look crossed her face. "If your uncle is Thorin Oakenshield, then you are...?"
"Fili. I knew Thorin had nephews but I couldn't remember which one you were."
Fili let out a laugh. "I'm the oldest, whereas Kili is my little brother - and a bit of a troublemaker."
"And you aren't?" Thalia challenged, raising an eyebrow.
"Nah. I'm more of the sweet one."
"I call hogs spit on that, brother."
"You can call hogs spit all you want, little brother. Doesn't make it less true." Fili shot back, still keeping his eyes on the woman laying in bed.
Thalia watched as Kili pulled a chair up beside his older brother and plopped down in it. "Don't let my pesky brother fool you." Kili shot his brother a glare. "He's just as much a mischief maker as I am."
Where Fili had blonde hair and a matching beard and mustache with thick blonde eyebrows framing his cobalt blue eyes, Kili had dark hair with deep brown eyes and dark stubble decorating his face. Only half of his dark hair was pulled back into a ponytail. But both brothers had a twinkle of mischief in their eyes.
"I came to check on you, but see that you are preoccupied with our guest at the moment," informed Kili.
"Yes, and three is a crowd, so shoo." Fili hissed.
"Sorry, brother, I'm also here on orders from uncle and auntie - 'Amad included." Kili grinned at his brother's eye roll.
Thalia couldn't help the laugh that escaped her mouth. These two reminded her so much of her and her brother, when they were young.
"My name is Kili. At your service." Kili bowed his head in introduction. "Who are you?"
"I'm Thalia." Thalia tore her hand from Fili's and held it out to Kili. The young Dwarf Prince gently clasped her hand and shook it.
"Pleasure." Kili said. "Welcome to Erebor, Miss Thalia."
Thalia suddenly felt her eyelids grow heavy. Fili seemed to notice because he gently helped her adjust. "Rest, Lass. When you are feeling better, I will give you a tour of Erebor. It is such a wondrous place."
"I look forward to that, Prince Fili."
"Please, Lass." Fili gently corrected, "just Fili."
"I look forward to that Fili. I can't wait."
