"And this is where you will be dropped off," said the voice of a man while pointing to a map.
This man is Lancer von Karma…is he an Ace Attorney reference? Anyway, he is the leader of the Fall City ranger base. Turns out in this universe Joel is not a leader, he is instead a Rank 10 ranger.
"Are you sure the Kalos region is a good starting point for Joseph? It is known to have many strong trainers," questioned Hikari
"All of the ranger leaders in the Fiore Region think of it as the best region because of it being known to have strong trainers, it would make Joseph be able to be stronger than the average trainer from any other region."
And the rangers kept talking to each other. Honestly at this point I zoned out…still, Kalos. I have many fond memories of that region. It was the best Pokemon anime story wise.

"Alright Joseph, have you ever jumped off a plane before?" asked Hikari
"Ahh yes the art of jumping off a plane…NO I NEVER DID THIS BEFORE…WHEN DID WE DECIDE ON JUMPING OFF A PLANE?" I inquired while being totally calm…yep totally.
"Uhhhh, we decided on this in the meeting, we even asked you if it was fine but you didn't respond so we just went with it…"
"So what you are saying is that if a person does not disagree…it is agreement?"
"YEP," exclaimed Hikari while sticking her tongue out…god I want to strangle her now.
"Alright Joseph, dropoff is in 1 minute," said a voice on the intercom
"Well go be a hero champ," said Hikari, "We will hear from you later. Just remember to not let anyone see your styler."
"I do not know how someone can see it," I replied, "It literally looks like a normal watch."
"30 seconds till dropoff." said that same voice on the intercom.
"Welp. If I don't die, you will hear from me. Cya!" I said while moving to the edge of the plane.
"10"
"Fuck me"
"9"
"Why"
"8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, Dropoff, Good Luck!"
And just like that the floor beneath me just disappeared and I was in a free fall.
Did you ever know what it feels to go skydiving? Well it must feel something like this I betcha. The wind was slamming against my face like it was some kind of punching bag. I must have looked very stupid with all the wind on my face. My hair was also just everywhere. But I soon saw the surface and deployed the parachute. Did you know dissolvable parachutes existed in this world? It is like they dissolve upon landing, leaving no trace upon landing. It is some kind of god forsaken bullshit science I tell you. Still, the parachute part of the fall was much more calm than the free falling part. It was slow and semi relaxing.
And then there was a tear in space.
No like seriously, space tore in front of me and a white and orange pokemon came out. It had 3 needle-like things in its hair and honestly looked quite cute.
Yep, a shiny poipole just came out of an ultra wormhole…
Wow, I must be mad lucky or something. The literal second pokemon I see is a shiny? And an ultra beast to boot? Let's not question any logistics of why a poipole is here or why an ultra wormhole opened up right as I was about to land.
"Hey there little guy. I am falling at the moment, but mind if I catch you once I land?" I asked the poipole while sticking my arm towards it.
The poipole looked at me, "poipopo"
…and then I got stung and blacked out…

Man there really is something with me waking up in forests, this is the second time this happened in the span of 3 days. I then leaned upwards into a sitting position and started to regain my bearings when I saw two people standing there.
Well. Calling them people is the closest thing I could call them. They are those people from the ultra games. You know, the people whose names no one remembers?
"A-lo-la," said the male of the two, "I am regarded as Dulse, and this is my companion: Zossie."
"A-lo-la," said Zossie, "We learnt that this is how your species greets each other."
"Uh hi there," I replied, "I'm Joseph. And uhh you only say alola to greet someone in the Alola region. We are in Kalos at the moment."
I then inspected the two a little closer. These two are characters who play a semi-large role in the story of the ultra games. They even give you a poipole in the game too. But they should be in the Alola region, not Kalos. Why are they here?
"Um," I continue, "why are you two here exactly?"
"We have detected ultra beast energy similar to the levels of Necrozma in this area. And that fostered us to come back to this planet for the first time in 8 years," replied Zossie.
Dulse then pulled Zossie over and turned on a tablet looking device and whispered something to her. He then pointed at me while also pointing at the tablet looking device.
After staring at the device for a bit, their expressions started to tense up a bit. They started getting horrified faces…at least that is what I assumed, it is hard to read the expressions of these people.
"W-What are you?!" exclaimed Dulse, "You are the ultra beast that we detected. T-This is impossible. No ultra beast can have levels as high as this. Let alone a human."
Well. Turns out I'm an ultra beast. Then again, ultra beasts are just aliens in this world. Interdimensional aliens sure. But still aliens nonetheless. And guess what I am? Yep, I am an interdimensional alien.
"Welllllllll," I replied, "As I said before, I am Joseph Baller. And let me give you more details. I am from an alternate dimension where Pokemon do not exist. And one day I woke up here. Yeah that's pretty much it."
"People from other dimensions are not uncommon. What is uncommon is just the amount of ultra beast energy you have. This is not natural," replied Dulse
"Welp, I don't know what to say. I seem to have adjusted decently to this world. Though I still do not have my own pokemon. Maybe I'll catch one lat-"
Then the poipole jumped out and rudely cut off my sentences. It then started flying…or levitating? How does this thing float? Nevermind that. Anyway it flew over to me and started giving me a hug.
"Oh. NOW you are being nice to me," I stated, "What about the time where you stung me and then caused me to faint in a forest. Not for the first time, but for the second time? I wanted to do a badass landing after parachuting man."
Zossie then started eyeing me more intensely. And whispered something to Dulse. Who then, after some time of what seemed to be pondering, nodded in what seemed like approval.
Zossie then walked closer to me, "I approve of you."
"Uh wut," I reply…is this some kind of marriage proposal or something?
"I approve of you as harmless. You do not seem to have any visible malice intent. So we are going to make you an honorary member of the ultra recon squad. Your job is to help report any ultra beast findings and report any potential warps in space."
This was going too fast for me. I was already a member of one organization in this world. Now I am a member of two? Well then again, having their help could potentially be useful in case I get caught or the war escalates. This may, indeed, be a useful team up.
"Sure, I accept," I reply, "But how would I be able to contact you guys. And how would I be able to know when there is ultra beast energy near me?"
"Here you go," Dulse then handed me a tablet, "This is the ultra dex. It holds information of all ultra beasts we currently know. Along with it being able to help detect readings of ultra beast energy. We can also contact you through it."
"Alright, thank you," I replied, "But why are you just giving me this stuff? I am just a rando you found on the ground in the forest."
"The reason is because of this little one," Dulse pointed at the shiny poipole, "poipole tend to be attracted towards beings they can trust to protect them. And because of this, they are a good judge of heart. And this one here seemed to take a huge liking to you."
The poipole continued to hug me and float around somehow.
"And because of this, we also entrust this poipole to you. This one is really special," mentioned Zossie.
Wait. I am getting my first pokemon? In the games poipole were the starters of Ultra Megalopolis, but an ultra beast as a starter? And shiny to boot? Maybe this will be something to look forward to after all.
Dulse then handed me a…cherish ball? What the hell, those things are real, "Here is the pokeball for poipole. Zossie and I must leave to report our findings along with our new member. Do not forget to report any anomalies here. Thank you and we look forward to working with you."
Dulse then pressed some buttons on the sleeve of his forearm and an ultra wormhole appeared and they walked through it and disappeared.
I then sat around processing a bit. I got my first pokemon, I became a member of a second organization, and I also seem to be in some kind of messed up version of the video game universe of pokemon. This was very insightful for me.
"Hey there little guy," I said to poipole, "are you ready for an adventure of a lifetime?"
Poipole looked directly in my eyes, "Poip!"
It then nodded very happily and flew around in figure 8's.
I grinned a bit. I am starting to figure out more about this world. Maybe I won't die after all.
Just as I was getting comfortable with this world, I remembered my main objective: wait for people to come. And so, I waited.
Now, you may think I waited for hours on end. But no, I waited for like 10 minutes before someone came running into the forest.
"There was an ultra wormhole detected here a few minutes ago. Go, Go, Go!"
Some people came running in. They had SWAT shields along with batons. But what surprised me more was the person who seemed to be the leader.
It was a black haired man with a pikachu on his shoulder and naruto zig zags on his cheeks.
Yep, it was Ash Ketchum.
"Hi there," Ash said nicely, "You already probably know me, but I am Ash Ketchum, the undefeated world champion."
Aaaand done. I had to rewrite some stuff, the beginning is still a little choppy. I'll rewrite it later. Joseph's first mon was a poipole. I just thought it would be interesting and it was a nice excuse to get the ultra recon squad here as they never appeared in the anime. So, follow, fav, review, etc. See y'all later.
