A/N: I have been trying to write, several different stories, but the ideas fizzle out pretty fast, and I have very little time to write. I always say I want to write one last story, but the truth is, I do enjoy writing. So I may write intermittenly, and I kind of want to start a story where there is no pressure to write it. Like release a chapter once a month or something. I have a daughter to take care of now, and if I'm not working, my life revolves around her, but I also feel like I need some sort of creative outlet.

And this has been my primary creative outlet for the past decade or so, and it's been rewarding to see people enjoy the stories i've written.

I'm not sure what I want to do with this story right now. But I still love the coupling of Videl and Gohan, they've been my favorite fanfic coupling to write about, hands down. So this may end up being another A/U exploring their high school days, obviously with some sort of twist.

Prologue

A familiar scene unfolds before the short alien as he stares into his crystal ball. Bardock floats in the upper atmosphere of Planet Vegeta, wounded heavily from plowing through all of Frieza's men to come before the tyrant himself.

In his final moments, he thinks of his newborn son and conjures a surprising amount of energy to form an attack in a last ditch effort to save his planet and his people.

"Very impressive! Despite being near death this being is still able to challenge Frieza! It's a fruitless effort, but that kind of tenacity may be useful." The shrill voice of this wizard speaks in a inquisitive tone. He watches as Frieza's Extinction Ball barrels towards the planet. Before it can impact with the lone Saiyan Warrior, the wizard teleports him to a remote planet, away from the destruction.

Bardock lays on the ground, his jaw clenched and his eyes shut tight, awaiting his death. After what feels like an eternity, he opens his eyes to see that he is still alive, on a planet he has yet to see.

"Are you surprised Saiyan?" the shrill wizard asked gleefully through a telepathic link.

Bardock jumped to his feet, whipping his head around, and wincing in pain. "Who's there!?" He asked, alerted that he may still be in danger.

The wizard smiled maliciously, "Nobody, and yet, me. I am speaking to you from far away, inside my ship, to offer you a deal you won't refuse." the wizard said with a smirk.

"And what deal is that exactly?" Bardock asked suspiciously as he relaxed slightly and sat on the ground to recover.

The wizard, malice still in his tone, responded, "Very simple really, you work for me. More or less as a secondary bodyguard."

Bardock chuckled a scoff at the wizard, "No thanks pal. You saved my life, and I'm grateful. However, I have no interest in working for anyone anymore. I have a singular goal now."

"Yes, yes, I understand, you wish to kill your former employer. What if I told you, I could make that happen?" The wizard responded, intriguing Bardock.

"Go on."

"You see, I do not want you to guard me, per se, but my future pet, Majin Buu. A creature whose terrible power makes Frieza look like an ant." The wizard offered as Bardock scoffed again.

"As believable as your little pet sounds, I'm a Saiyan Warrior. I'm not going to sit on the sidelines and send someone else to kill Frieza. I'm going to do it myself!" Bardock exclaimed arrogantly as he stood on his feet.

"Yes, that went quite splendidly for you last time you tried it. But you seem to be forgetting one thing. When I said this was an offer you won't refuse," the wizard paused as a sharp pain shot through Bardock's entire body. He clutched his head and shook it, as if trying to tear his head from his neck, "I meant it!" the wizard finished his sentence, Bardock writhing on the ground in pain, trying anything to make it stop until his body went stiff, nearly lifeless on the ground.

He arose, suddenly on a ship with a malicious, evil grin spread across his face, and a M tattooed to his forehead. He knelt before the wizard, the new power surging through him trumping the disgust he felt to be kneeling at the feet of this imp-like wizard.

"My name is Babidi, and I am your new master." Babidi introduced himself as he stepped to the side to reveal an egglike shell. "This is the egg that contains Majin Buu, the most fierce and fearsome creature the universe has ever known. Unfortunately, he is far from ready to re-enter this world." Babidi stated as he cursed his father for not having the entire spell written down, forcing him to collect scraps of other, similar spells.

"Your job, along with Dabura, is to simply protect us from the prying eye of the Supreme Kai." Babidi explained as Bardock nodded dutifully.

As he stood, a tall demon-like man with horns and a similar 'M' etched across his forehead stepped forward and bowed to Babidi.

"We are well concealed, my master. A small village has begun to take shape just above, but it provides cover from the Kai." Dabura reported as he eyed Bardock.

"Good, Dabura. We will have to clear them out when the time is right, but that seems like a happy problem to have." Babidi responded as he motioned to Bardock, "This is the Saiyan, Bardock. Consider him your new trainee."

Dabura's eyes narrowed, bile filled his throat as he felt disgust at the creature before him. "Very well Master. Do not blame me if he cannot handle the training." Dabura responded to his master with duty, but a sharp venom laced in his voice.

"I think you shall be pleasantly surprised with him Dabura, regardless, I want him alive to see Majin Buu's glorious resurrection!" Babidi exclaimed happily as he sent the two away.

Bardock was not looking forward to this new chapter in his life, but it seemed unavoidable... for now.

24 Years Later*

Bardock has spent 24 years on this planet with no followthrough on Babidi's inane plans. Frieza continues to reign terror down on the universe. Despite the years, Bardock has not been able to train his mind well enough to break free from the wizard's spell. He has regained some free will, however the spell still forces him to return to his master.

The limited free will has allowed him to go on short stints around the planet he now resides, but he stays away from major cities. He doesnt know if this planet is loyal to Frieza and should Frieza be alerted to the survival of any Saiyan, that would put every saiyan at risk, including his son, Kakarot.

He often wonders what has become of his sons. Surely, Raditz was killed in the purge shortly after Planet Vegeta was destroyed, but his young son, the one he and Gine snuck off the planet the night before, he may still be alive out there, thriving. These thoughts, at times, softened his heart a bit as he watched the night sky.

He was slightly worried, about a month ago, it seemed as though a Frieza Force pod crashed down on this peaceful planet, but it seems nothing came of it.

Perhaps the occupant was killed by the planet populace. The odd occasion that he disguised himself to blend in with the crowd, he had heard about how crazy strong some of the occupants of this planet truly are. The thought excited his Saiyan blood, the part that desired a true challenge.

But he almost felt as though those days were behind him. He fought to defend that wretched wizard and his blasted egg. Which hasnt led to much fighting, the ship was very well concealed. Not to mention, all of his training with Dabura has led him to be fairly even matched with the Demon King.

"Hiya mister!" A small voice exclaimed from the tree that Bardock was resting under, slightly startling him. He maintained a disguise that covered his tail and distinctive hairstyle. He always knew that there were humans that lived in the outdoors and he refused to be caught off guard.

But a child? "Hey kid." Bardock grunted trying to blow the kid off.

"What are you doing out here?" The small voice asked as Bardock's brow furrowed in annoyance.

"Trying to find the world's most annoying kid, and it looks like I succeeded. Now buzz off." Bardock barked as the kid landed on the ground in front of him.

"I can't be that annoying, I just met you." the boy said cheekily. Bardock stood up and glared at the boy before doing a double take. "Then again, Mr. Piccolo also says I'm the world's most annoying kid. Either you're both right, or you dont hang around too many kids." the boy pointed out, Bardock's mouth still agape.

Shakily, Bardock rose a finger, "W-what's your name kid?" Bardock asked, his shock evident. This innocent boy, the near spitting image of his own son that he sent away so many years ago.

The boy tilted his head slightly in confusion, unsure how he scared this man who looked vaguely familiar. "My name is Son Gohan. Why do you ask?" Gohan responded politely.

Bardock shook it off, "No reason, you just look like someone I know..." Bardock stopped for a second, still unsure of his son's fate, "...knew." he corrected.

Gohan laughed, "Yeah, I get that a lot. everyone told me how much I look like my dad last month when I met his friends. They said we could be twins!" Gohan exclaimed, with a very small hint of a melancholy tone.

Bardock couldn't help but smirk at the boy. After all, it was his first interaction with another intelligent creature in 24 years. "I believe you kid, you better get home though. It's getting late and you never know what kind of creatures are out at night." Bardock suggested, knowingly referring to his occasional shadow, Dabura.

Gohan pouted slightly before taking a determined stance, "I'd like to go home, but I can't. I have to get stronger to help protect the world from the Saiyans!" Gohan declared with confidence deep in his chest.

Bardock froze at the declaration. "Saiyans?"

End Prologue

That's the end, I had the idea, and I started going with it and I like how it turned out.

I will tell you right now, the next chapter is not going to be an immediate continuation of this one. I will try and make sure that it's explained why within the universe.

Some may wonder, if Bardock is on Earth, why could his energy not be sensed by the Z Fighters. Based on the Buu saga, I believe Dabura and Babidi scanned the planet thousands of years before the Z Fighters to see the level of fighters the planet had. I assumed they hid in Earth, since their ship was buried underground, and my assumption is that Babidi shields his minions from ki sensing beings and devices, since obviously, Supreme Kai can sense Ki. The only reason they could sense his minions ki once they got to the ship is because not only were they aware of their presence on Earth, they were also in a closer vicinity to Babidi and his ship full of minions. The only reason Gohan cannot sense Bardock's ki right now is because he's still in the first 6 months of just surviving, he hasnt been properly trained.

I apologize if I rambled, I hope you enjoyed the Prologue, and I hope I can keep this story going.
