As both Hector and Hiro began the work of finishing their reports on their last mission, they were still getting over the mental overload that came from learning and obtaining so many skills from a single mission. It was quite stressful but that was not something other people knew or could help them with, since only they could obtain and retain abilities like this.
The more missions they went to the more skills they would gain and thus their powers would grow, but the stress on their bodies would still happen after obtaining a skill, and in this last mission, they obtained the skills of full-fledged wizards, onmiyoji and even and even alchemy that is why their minds were so overloaded, having to learn so many skills, talents, abilities and a vast number of spells.
Hector focused more on the mental aspects while doing some physical skills, and Hiro focused on the physical skills while doing while briefly studying the mental aspects. They took turns as to who would learn what and they both by doing so managed to get through several large libraries, except that their hunger for knowledge did not come without a cost, the price is that upon returning back to the dimension of their goddess, they will feel everything they currently couldn't. The physical and mental strain of learning.
The Goddess gave them a couple of days to get through all the reports and recover to be ready for another mission, it seems Hiro had focused a lot of time on the creation and use of firearms for some strange reason, Hector spend his time learning every single way that a person could fight, every weapon that he could get his hands on, the learning was not stressful since he managed to learn a skill from one of the women who would later marry him, a skill that allowed him to master any weapon simply by holding it.
As they finally recovered from the mission they were both called to appear before the goddess, "I know that you two went through a lot in the last mission, so I gave you extra time to recover, but sadly this can not way any longer, I am sorry to tell you that Hiro that I have to inform him of something that he actually did in a previous life, something that has remained a constant black stain on his record."
Hector looked at her and asked what could be so bad? She didn't wait for a second to say the horrible acts and actions of one Oda Nobunaga while trying to unite his country. "It is not uncommon for a leader leading a rebellion to have to do things to achieve their goals, things that could be seen as horrible or ever deplorable to achieve a goal or fight against an almost gigantic opposition. Oda Nobunaga had to face and fight against every single lord in his country, many of which did not want to be unified, since they lived very comfortable and easy lives as lords over the land they called their domain."
She smiled at Hector and told him that is mostly true, and his intentions were in fact noble, but his actions at later moments were deplorable, inhumane, and some would say are the actions of a madman. "For this stain to be cleansed, I am sending you and Hiro here to a world where a version of Nobunaga is trying to do what Hiro did in his past life, I am hoping that since this is very much a world where has access and abilities that can be called magic, you both will be able to help that version of Nobunaga achieve unification while preventing all the needless and cruel deaths that happen in Hiro's past life."
"I will be sending you both to that Earth so that you both can acclimate and learn as much as you can of that nation's and that world's history. Once you learn everything you shall be transported to the time and place where your mission shall take place, and yes Hector it is a merged universe, the one that got merged was none other than the magical universe where Harry Potter lived. Since you are going there I have made contact with Mage King Potter, and it has been said that he will help you as much as he can, considering that you shall both live in the Japanese branch of his school."
As they appeared in that world they found themselves in a rather strange-looking castle that apparently was in Tokyo, "Ah, you must be Sirius and Yoshiharu, I was told to expect you both, as per arrangement, you do not need to take classes, since you are not students, but you will be given access to our library, and should you need anything feel free to send me a message via Owl. His majesty Harry Potter wanted to meet you both, but I am sure you both understand how demanding his life is, and simply could not spare any time. Last I heard it was something about a problem he was having or was caused by one of his sons."
As the friends got used to the castle and how it was busy with all the students coming and going from their dorms to the many different classes it sort of reminded both of them of the happy days when they were students at Hogwarts. It seemed like a lifetime since they were students there, but they serve a goddess who has sent them on many missions, and they have been to many different worlds in equally as many dimensions.
Saw sights that most wouldn't believe to be real and met people that many dimensions consider pure fiction. How else could he describe that he had tea with Morgan La Fey, talked economics with Mortierty, wrestled with Mr. Hyde, and later had a physical exam and medical treatment from Dr. Jekyll. Yoshiharu had just as many different and fascinating experiences but deep down Sirius could not help but worry about their mission, it was a world that Japan had not advanced in science or in technology in hundreds of years, and it was all thanks to the isolationism that had been present on the country for centuries.
In fact, the only reason they could even have a school there is because it was hidden by spells and charms, no one in the school would or could tell anyone about the existence of the school. Yoshiharu often joked that this place was no better than one of the Hidden Villages they once trained in. Sirius was quick to mention at least they didn't carb the faces of their leaders on a mountain. To which Yoshiharu was quick to mention that Mount Rushmore was still very much present and if he really wanted to visit, they could use a spell to go there and come back in a flash.
The one thing Sirius never understood is that since it was relatively so easy to use teleportation magic, why hasn't something like that been made for the general public to use, it would cut down on pollution and make travel a hell of a lot safer and more convenient, but something makes this prospect nearly impossible. His old teacher used to say that it was Gaia who prevented such large-scale magic from being used as she eliminates any magic that she becomes aware of, so the use of Magic is not that open or well-known.
As they learned more and more about the history of the world, Sirius and Yoshiharu saw the ways that this Japan was different from many others they had been to before, and as such, it was a major reason why this had to be done, they had to go back in time and prevent the tragedies of the unification war, which means they needed to help Oda Nobuna on the right path, Yoshiharu's memories of his life as Oda Nobunaga finally settled and he was not happy about what he did in that life.
To prevent the harm that came from Japan's lack of progress and scientific development they needed to go back in time to the feudal era, and since Yoshiharu remembered his life there, it would act as a beacon for them to start their activities, one thing that Yoshiharu noticed was that the people he once knew in his past life, still had the same names so it should be pretty easy for him and Sirius to get along with these people if they remain the way he once knew them in his previous life.
The time travel spells and charms were also the reason why they had to wait for that long, it took many days to get everything ready, the circles, runes, charms, and other materials needed to be perfect, otherwise they could end up in the wrong time period, they could even end up before even Japan was founded, or even existed, so making sure they had everything perfect was not only a matter of pride for the many wizards and witches that worked on this but also a matter of safety.
The spell required three extremely gifted people to cast, it had to be done at the same time, and be as precise as it could possibly be, one spell determine the time, the second the location, and the third to actually move them through the very fabric of space and time. All three parts had to be done at the same time, otherwise, they could land in a place before or even after the period they were intending.
If the spells went completely wrong, the act of traveling through space could end up causing them to be erased from existence and at the very least end up affecting their bodies as they travel through space, a young man who had tried this spell with only classmates could end up going back in time till he became so young that he seized to exist, or so old that his parents would never believe him to be their son.
The charms were done to prevent others from getting close to the area, and the runes were placed to protect everyone from being affected as the person was sent through time. All in all this required immense preparation and a keen eye to prevent anything from going haywire.
As soon as the spells were cast both friends found themselves in the middle of a barn, at least it smelled like a barn, as a man came running in and Yoshiharu noticed that this man is attempting to leave this place in a rather hurry, so he asked him what was wrong? The man simply laughed and said what was wrong was the world, he would try his best to protect his clan and to do so, he would defect and join Oda.
He laughed as he said this, "I know, I know what you both are probably thinking, that Oda is a fool for putting such faith in those strange weapons she got her troops using, and most would think I am insane for doing this, but I can feel it, those strange weapons she uses are the way of the future." Yoshiharu told him that it wasn't strange or crazy at all, and he was absolutely correct, so much so he and his friend would help him get to Oda.
"Look, if we make it to Oda, and we are all accepted as officers, we can all become lords, gain our own castle, we could even get to form our own harem. We each can have our dreams come true, we only need to make it to Oda." Sirius began to wonder why the hell was Yoshiharu thinking with his mind clearly in the gutter? Sirius knew that things were never going to be as easy as that, so he decided to help both of them as much as he could.
As the three men began to go through the fields near the clearly abandoned old barn, they began to look around till Sirius told them, to follow him, he knows the way to the Oda Camp, much to their dismay they weren't the only people that were trying to find the camp, the enemy had the bright idea of trying to follow them.
"Sirius, don't call me crazy, but I think those men on horseback are trying to follow us to launch a sneak attack on us, I don't like this one bit, we just got here and someone is already trying to kill us." the guy who was with them introduced himself as Tokichiro and told them that was very likely they were in an era of constant war, in fact, the Oda is fighting another group for control of an entire territory, so if those that are following them are the enemy of the Oda, they could be trying to ambush them or do a sneak attack behind enemy lines to actually kill off as many soldiers as they can and thin the forces under Oda's command.
Something often felt off about Tokichiro to Yoshiharu, and he often was quite supportive of the two friends, as they finally made it to the area where they needed to go, they found that the area where the camp was located was under siege, a battle between hundreds of warriors was happening, Sirius used his magic to either blast many of the enemies away of try this best to shield or heal the ones that were injured, Yoshiharu grabbed the nearest musket and began to fire the damn thing like an absolute crazy person.
Sirius told him that he needs to at least try and distance himself from his enemy when he fires the smoke the black powder gives off can obscure his vision, to which he thought of something he uses the black powder to cause smoke in front of the enemy and this gave him the chance to switch to using a spear he got from his inventory, it was a spear he got from playing a game based on the Fate series, it was the spear of Cu Chulain, and what is worse this spear kept it's abilities so every single thrust of it, would always find the target and pierce the enemy's heart.
Tokichiro was doing his best to act as a shield to Yoshiharu and sometimes he killed some enemies that were trying to sneak behind Sirius when he was treating some of the wounded Oda soldiers. In the end, Tokichiro was stabbed by one of the enemies as he was trying to help Yoshiharu. Seeing his friend die triggered something primal in Sirius and out of nowhere he decided that if he was going to die, he was going to take these bastards with him.
He looked at Yoshiharu who immediately pulled in every Oda Soldier in the area before entering the dungeon and leaving the place, the enemy thought that the Oda troops ran away but that was not the case, Sirius' body began to glow red as if it was metal being forged, and from his hand two jets of fire came that burned the enemies that were trying to rush at him and those that were doing the same behind him, as the fire took the shape of two massive serpents, who burned enemies to ashes as Sirius walked through the area.
It was then that he felt like he had reached his magic limit, and that Yoshiharu walked back out of the dungeon with all the other Oda soldiers.
"Well you certainly were upset to do that, but come on Sirius our friend is perfectly fine, it was no problem to heal that injury, she is perfectly fine so you need to calm down."
Sirius was looking at his friend when he finally calmed down and then realized what he just heard, "Yoshiharu, what do you mean by, she?" Yoshiharu told him that their friend Tokichiro was actually a woman the entire time but she actually had been using binding and a mask to pretend to be a man. That is when Sirius walked up to his friend who he thought had died and with a very stern look on his face only had one question, why pretend to be a man?
"It is actually not what I wanted, my father forced me to since he only had me, and he wanted a son to take the leadership of our clan, so he forced me to dress as a boy while I grew up, made me use those painful bindings and even wear that mask, it is not something I would do willingly, but dad told me he would kill my mother if the truth was ever discovered."
Sirius looked at her and began to shake his head, "I honestly don't know what is wrong with a woman leading your clan, isn't like having a strong matriarch is actually that rare, or that debilitating to a clan. Honestly, this sort of thinking is barbaric, as a father he should want to make his family happy, not force his own daughter to do all of that crap, and don't tell me that girls can't be strong warriors, cause both I and Yoshiharu know that ain't true. Well, no matter with these many enemy soldiers dead, Oda will just be sure to win this battle, the main problem I got is how are we going to join her side without her simply killing us thinking we are some sort of enemy spies."
Yoshiharu simply smiled and pointed in a direction, "I wouldn't worry too much about that Sirius, she probably used that spyglass she has to actually see you basically burn so many enemies to ashes, I know we are your friends, but I honestly didn't think us getting killed would upset you so much that you lost control of your magic and use your magic to use the very spells you hate to use. Fiendfire of all things, you used Fiendfire to kill all those enemies and what is worse you used it without a wand and two one from each hand, to most people you would look like a rampaging Djinn."
Sirius actually had no excuse, he always hated to use that particular spell but seeing his friends die like that made a deep part of him yearn for bloodshed, for revenge. There were probably dozens of other spells but none that could eliminate that many enemies as quickly as possible, Fiendfire is almost sentient, it that the shape in the mind of a person and is fueled by their desires when using the spell, but the fact is that even as he supposedly lost control he didn't burn anything other than the enemies, had he lost control everything around himself would be ashes, one case ended up causing the very death of the person casting the spell.
It was then that Yoshiharu took off running and he told Sirius that he was going off to help Oda, to which Sirius knew where he was going, Yoshiharu left leaving Tokichiro and Sirius to fight the enemy as he apparently went to help and rescue the leader of the Oda, but unlike what they read and what he knew, it turns out that the leader of the Oda Clan was a young, busty woman. He immediately rushed in and beat as many of the enemies that got close to her.
As he got closer he noticed that she was riding a horse into battle wielding a sword, as he finally got to her, he stood between her and his enemy, "Hey, fight someone your own size!" That is when one of the enemies declared that Yoshiharu was going to fight in his general's place or at least it sounded like he asked. One who appeared to be an officer simply scuffed at Yoshiharu's actions and called them meaningless since they were going to kill both of them.
That is when he decided to pull out his phone and he decided to use magic with it to project the illusion of a mounted army charging at the enemy with the phone playing the sounds of the army shouting to make the illusion that much more convincing. "You got an army in that small thing, what the hell are you? Are you a sorcerer?" As they were confused she quickly went to strike them down with her sword, but as she hit the helmet of one of them the sword broke.
Yoshiharu quickly picked up the weapon of the enemy and was ready to fight alongside the young lady, this felt wrong to him somehow the version of himself that is in this time period was a young woman instead of what he once remembered being. Yoshiharu told many in his youth that he was in fact the reincarnation of Oda Nobunaga, but nobody believed him or worse some thought he only said that because he was hungry for attention.
This, however, was not true, Yoshiharu had once lived as Nobunaga and in this battle, he proved that he still had the very same skills that lead him to become a General and leader of an army that once would have unified Japan. With weapon in hand, he fought another enemy that tried to sneak behind the young woman and stabbed him right through the heart.
Another young woman came towards them on horseback and she looked at Yoshiharu wondering who was he? She asked the other young woman if she was alright, calling her a General, "I am fine, just get the troops and get those Imagawa forces off my lands, I don't know who you are stranger but thank you for coming to try and save me, I am the leader of the Oda, my name is Oda Nobuna, and who are you?"
That is when Sirius and Tokichiro finally made it to where Yoshiharu had ended up, "His name is Sagara Yoshiharu, I am Sirius Snape, and this is a friend that we met and who inspired us to come to the aid of the Oda, Kunoshita Tokichiro, as you can see we have come to help you, Lady Oda. I know that I am a foreigner and you may feel like you do not have a reason to trust us, but believe me, when I say we have come to help you unify Japan."
That is when Nobuna looked at Sirius as she walked closer to him and his woman who was standing near him, her black armor showing as her cape moved due to the wind, "And why would a foreigner even care to help us do something like that? It's not even your country, what could you probably want for helping me achieve my dream?" Sirius looked at her and simply told her that unifying Japan would help the entire region, and if this was the case hundreds if not thousands of lives could be saved by preventing even more conflicts, if things went as he and his friend figured, it could also be possible for many tragedies and plagues from killing innocent people.
"That is why we are willing to do this, while Japan is divided, it will only lead to more wars as each territory fight each other, leading to more and more innocent lives being lost, all those lives could have led to amazing discoveries and inventions, knowledge lost, inventions that will never come to pass all because Japan was constantly at war. So of course I would want to establish peace by helping you achieve your goal."
He then looked at Yoshiharu who finally turned off his phone and placed it in his phone belt holster, "And my friend Yoshiharu has an even more personal reason, he and I both came from the future, and Yoshiharu in a previous life was a man by the name of Oda Nobunaga, he wants to prevent the tragedies and mistakes that once he committed in his previous life to make sure they never happen again, and thus earn his redemption. I know you think we are crazy, but we are nothing but being honest, we have spoken no lies as Tokichiro here will tell you, we have been honest with her."
Tokichiro smiled at Sirius and told Nobuna that indeed they are here to help her, and they have been a great help to her even before they met her, both of them have been taking out her enemies and weakening them so that she and her army could claim victory, "The guy didn't say so, but I saw him take on at least a hundred soldiers by himself, and his friend is just as skilled, trust me, Lady Oda, we are going to be a lot of help to you and your cause."
