A/N: If it seemed to you that Chloe had a little more prominence, it's because I can't make them all go through important things at the same time, since that way they couldn't accompany each other. And the first thing I have to do is fix her thing.
On the other hand, and in response to a comment from Azafaiifa (from Wattpad in Spanish): I am not going to ship between any of the three. The reason is simple: the third would be like a candle holder. I'm sorry.
I believe that Kim's family does not comply with the canon that they have explained to me.
Thanks to Katherine.
Nath sits next to me with a scowl on his face. He just had geography class and I think I know what gave him that expression. Chloe doesn't come. Kagami and I looked at each other. Could there be an akuma? No, that's too soon. Although I think she is very worried.
She gets up, but before her, another person leaves. Adrien.
He isn't as stupid as he seems and it has been several days, since Kagami's run-in with Marinette, without directly relating to either of them. He might have been wondering which side to choose. And he already has. Because looking for Chloe is a declaration of intent.
I pull my friend to sit down again.
"Do you think he has gone for her?" I wonder.
"Yes. That means he chooses me."
That makes her almost smile. Marinette turns and looks at her. My friend raises her head proudly and the girl turns around again and starts talking to Alya.
"Or Chloe, and he ignores you two." I can't help but say. I love to annoy others. It's fun.
She begins to write in Japanese on her notebook. Hint.
I look at Nath, who has started drawing Queen Bee. Who could have imagined it? If he knew.
"You may tell me or you may not, but are you okay?"
He takes a moment to say it, continuing to draw.
"I dont understand her."
He's doing her hair. Human hair. He does very well, not like me.
"Has she not apologized to you?"
It surprises me. That was supposed to be what she was gonna do. What we agreed. I treated her well during the attack because I thought she would.
"I have not left her." Nath answers "One day she doesn't stop looking at me and the next she ridicules me in front of everyone. Now she wants to apologize to me and I don't understand her. I don't want to understand it either. I will not accept her apology. End of story."
I don't want to get too involved. What happens to them doesn't matter to me, but I already recounted Nath's secret crush yesterday and it would be fair for him to do the same with Chloe.
"Haven't you thought that she might be jealous? And if she looked at you so much, is it because she doesn't know how to behave with you?"
He stops drawing and then continue. He tries to hide it.
"Don't be so macabre. That's impossible. Let's stop talking about that chick, okay?"
So what I said has affected him. I know something else to talk about.
"Are you going to continue with the comic?"
"No. It's embarrassing."
OK. Chloe has destroyed all of his spirit. Maybe I can do something.
"Is it because Marinette has been looking at you uncomfortable since yesterday?"
He widens his eyes.
"Has she been doing it?"
Oops. Luckily, the teacher comes in and she saves me from my mess.
She calls me to her table and tells me that I have a session with the school psychologist.
I have not asked for it. How odd!
The school counselor wants to do a special booster study skills program for me.
Alright. It's her job and I needed it. And I still need it. The problem is that this has many pages. Each teacher has contributed something, which means that many people have worked on this and that means high expectations. No pressure, huh.
I look at the time. They are in the middle of history class. So when I arrive, I interrupt. Although not that much, if I take into account the faces of the people, they are half asleep. I sit in my place and do the same as everyone else: try not to fall asleep.
It's not long before I feel something hit me in the face. It's small, so I don't pay much attention and move my hand close to my cheek, in case it's a bug.
The teacher's voice is hypnotic. I don't know how Kagami is managing to take notes. I don't know how I'm going to manage to raise my grades.
Something bigger hits me in the face again. I look at my desk. It's a piece of rubber. I see that Nath's is also full of rubber bits. And Max's. I look at the two of them and see that they both have annoyed expressions.
Beyond them is the culprit: Kim. He has smashed a very useful rubber band just to annoy me.
"What?" I yell in a whisper, hoping the teacher won't hear me.
"I want to talk to you at recess."
I nod my heas. As soon as class is over it will be lunch time.
In ten minutes everyone has left and the two of us are left alone.
Kim sits in Nath's chair.
We've been a bit cold lately. It's like there's a barrier between us. It's not like we're fighting, but... he's gotten away from me. And it's strange because I don't feel like I should. Normally I would be relieved, however, I am somewhat worried.
"You're a girl." It's the first thing he says.
"Oh, wow! Has Max told you that?"
He doesn't try to poke me and responds more seriously than he should.
"I need the help of a girl. And you are the one that fits the most."
I? There are many girls in the class. And he probably thinks they're more willing to help him than I am.
"That I am the most suitable? For what?"
"You are the one who most resembles Ondine, in way of being, I mean. Physically..."
"What do you want?"
If it has to do with Ondine, I probably won't like it at all.
"I have a date tonight and I want you to help me choose my clothes."
Clothes? I? I am not a fashion fanatic. Ondine doesn't look like it either. But he says I'm like her. It may be because of that.
I don't want to help him. Not to be better with Ondine.
Although I don't want us to be separated anymore either.
Anyway, owing me one is always a good thing.
"At what time is it?"
His expression becomes much more animated and he smiles.
"Yeah! At four."
"Hey, don't think you'll get it for free. I also need a favor. Tomorrow you have to join me for the warm-up in Physical Education class."
We are an odd number and I want to avoid touching the teacher. He's a bit... handy.
"Alix!" Nhung exclaims happily. "You haven't been here for a long time. Have you had a fight?" She smiles jokingly, but expecting to hear juicy gossip.
"We're ok." I lie. "Where is Kim?"
"Showering. What have you come for?"
She continues to smile, though we continue at the door.
"I come in?"
The girl steps aside and lets me pass.
Nhung is one of Kim's older sisters. She has green streaks in her hair and an electric blue T-shirt. She's only a year older than me, and with her being so close to our ages, she's always been a bit nosy about us. But she is quite cheerful and nice.
"Do you want to watch my drama with me while you wait?" She asks, closing the door.
"No, thanks. I think I'm going to go to his room."
"OK. Don't make too much noise. Giang is studying."
I nod and I head to his room. She hasn't said anything about her parents.
Giang is the oldest of the three. She is only three years older than Nhung, but her position as her first daughter is very noticeable. She is very mature, nerdy, hardworking and serious. She has never dyed her hair, like her siblings did, nor would she wear brightly colored clothes or a tracksuit.
I get to the room and throw myself on the bed. The room is messy, although not as messy as I've seen it on other occasions.
I don't understand why I have to help him on a date with Ondine. Especially knowing that she's seen him in his stupid tracksuit hundreds of times!
I hear the door open, a few footsteps, and it closes again.
"You are here already?" says Kim.
"Of course I'm here. You told me at four."
I sit up and look at him. I feel my cheeks getting hot. Why is he only wearing a towel?
"To the wall." he orders.
I turn around and face the wall. I don't want to think about him getting dressed behind me, but I also can't help thinking that he's getting dressed behind me.
"Already." he warns.
I turn around and...
"You're only wearing underpants!"
He puts on his stupid cocky smile and points to the closet.
"You were going to choose my clothes for the date. Are you really going to react like that?"
He always finds new ways to annoy me. It's insufferable.
He knows that he makes me nervous and he laughs at me. I also know how to play that.
"I said it because they are transparent. But It's up to you"
It's a lie, of course, although he doesn't know that.
I can be insufferable too.
I get up without looking at him again and go to his closet. I start rummaging through his clothes.
"Why do you suddenly want to dress well for a date with Ondine? Haven't you had like a gazillion?"
"Yes, but this time is different. We have been dating for almost seven months and she is eighteen years old. I'm sure she's been waiting for sex for a long time."
That makes me stop for a moment.
Does he want me to help him sleep with her?
The mere thought makes me nauseated.
It is unfair. Why? Why her? She's nothing special. She's just some random girl who asked him out. It could have been me. And would he be so willing to do it with me?
No. I'm not going to think about that. I keep looking through his clothes. I'm not going to help him. Don't feel like it.
What can I choose that looks dressed up but is absolutely horrible?
After several minutes, I pull out a slightly small red polo shirt and dark jeans.
Turning around, I see that Kim has covered himself with his sheet. That makes me smile a little.
He takes the clothes I have chosen and puts on his pants very quickly, although he has problems with the polo shirt.
"This one is small." he says, ridiculously stuck in the garment. "Isn't there another one out there?"
Yes. I've seen a fluorescent green shirt before. Maybe he can wear it with a jean jacket, ankle-baring shoes, and long red socks.
When I give him the outfit he is, once again, shirtless. It's bad for my heart. Because I have to admit, he's too hot.
When he sees the shirt, he frowns.
"Don't you think the red shirt would be better?" He asks.
"No not at all. You're a sportsman, that's what Ondine wants. And what is more sporty than a phosphorite colored shirt?"
Kim believes me and that makes me feel a little guilty, but when he puts on everything I've told him it's so funny it makes me feel better.
"You look ridiculous." I tell him. He thinks it's a joke, so he smiles confidently.
He puts on cologne and combs his hair in front of the mirror. Apart from the tacky clothes, he is handsome.
I'm torn between telling him I'm serious or shutting up and stopping him from having sex with Ondine.
"I bought you a burger. You can eat it here and watch TV with Nhung or take it home. What you want. I have to go now."
He smiles at me once more and gives me a high five before leaving.
I don't know what to do, but I know that it's wrong to eat that burger, so I go to the living room and tell Nhung that it's for her before saying goodbye to her and going home.
On the way I can't stop thinking about the date and what they will do. The longer I think, the worse I feel, to the point that when I get home I am extremely tired. So much so that I drop on the couch.
I release Fluff. I turn on the TV and try not to think anymore. However, I can't help but feel my kwami's gaze.
"What's happening?" I ask. I know what happens: I'm weird.
"You do that in almost every timeline in which that moment exists and I still don't know why." She comments.
Well, let her wait sitting down because I don't know either. I should give a shit what Kim does and with whom.
"Don't know."
"Don't know what?" asks my brother, who has just arrived, and he sits next to me.
"Why is she interfering in Kim's relationship with his girlfriend." Fluff answers before I can say anything.
My brother opens his mouth and frowns. He's going to scold me for doing something that's clearly wrong.
"What?" He seems very upset. Yes, what I have done is not very well. "Are you aware of such nonsense? You said you already knew Hawk Moth's identity! You haven't told me who he is or done anything with it! He keeps akumatizing people every day!"
Of course, my brother is not aware of teen things, but of what is truly important.
He is right. I shouldn't think about that and focus on the akumas. I have an idea I can try tonight.
"I'm sorry, Jalil. I can't tell you who he is."
"I imagined. But don't put yourself in danger, please."
I can't promise.
The moment I make the portal appear in his room, she springs up and grabs the lamp from the nightstand.
Then she realizes that what appears is me. I think being attacked by akumas has made her more alert.
"What do you do here at this time?" she asks as soon as I get out of the burrow.
She gets out of bed and I see that she has a branded and themed pajama on herself.
"What I am going to do? Take back your time, of course. Yesterday, the world had two Chloes for one hour and thirty-seven minutes, so the world has to go one hour and thirty-seven minutes without Chloe."
"What?" She asks astonished. Did she really not expect it? "It's half past eleven. I get up every day at six. I can't sleep just five hours. Can't it be another time?"
"No. Bring your pillow and a blanket if you want." I point her towards her bed. "And you sleep there."
Chloe sighs in resignation and does as I tell her. I know she doesn't like to obey me.
"OK. But let me sleep for eight hours." I have no idea how. Time does not pass in the burrow. "I will use tonight to study for the first exams, which will be soon."
Soon? If half a month is missing. It's not time to study yet. I shrug. What difference does it make.
"Why don't you seem worried at all? What have you done to pass the course? Have you used this for help?"
She makes a gesture, as if taking in the burrow, and then she puts her hand on her hip.
"Have you used your miracle to see the answers of the exams? I already said that it was impossible for you to pass the course..."
I stop listening to her as she continues to ramble on with insults. She just gave me an interesting idea.
She finishes speaking. I go to ignore her but I see that she looks at me expectantly. Eh?
"Repeat."
"I mean, since you're doing it and I can't stop it,… I'd like to know the answers too."
And so? Didn't she just swear at me for that very reason? Also, she is surprisingly a good student. She shouldn't wanna cheat. Though she is Chloe.
"Didn't you just insult me for that?"
"Oh, come on, that wasn't insults, it was reality."
She crosses her arms, very confident.
Actually, she's right. I have cheated. Not in this way, but in another.
"Okay, but you can't tell Kagami."
"No way. She would scold us for not being honest. And we would run out of bargain."
That makes me laugh. It's just what I thought.
"We have a deal, then." I say.
Chloe smiles too.
"We have a deal." she repeats.
We stay silent.
It comes to my mind how Adrien ran up from her table to talk to her after Nath came over upset. I have no idea what happened, but I'm curious. Especially since Adrien is a bit of a weirdo.
"What happened this morning when Adrien went to see you?" I ask as casually as I can.
We just had a moment where we almost seem to get along. She might wanna answer, right?
"What do you care?"
I think she's getting suspicious, so I turn around and head to my portals like I wanna do something, which I actually am.
"Because it would be nice to know which people are part of our official group of friends."
"What official group of friends?"
I don't know, it's the first thing that occurred to me. This is much more to do with the trouble she can cause.
I don't even like him. And I do not know why.
"Which is it going to be? Well, we, Triple Super, and our friends."
"One moment, one moment. First, we're not friends. Second, he's already friends with Kagami."
"But he has his own group of his friends. Or not?"
She is silent for a moment and says:
"Not anymore."
What does that mean? What did he tell her?
But I see her lie down on the ground. She won't drop anything else.
Well. While she goes to sleep, I'm going to do the idea I thought of before.
I choose the portal through which we entered and move through Paris until I find Gabriel Agreste's house.
I observe his entire day: at night he sleeps with a kind of brooch or pin on his pajamas. It's a strange object to have in your pajamas, which makes me think it's the miracle. I have to see when he takes it off.
As soon as he gets up, he gives it to that woman who is always with him or her son. I think she is his secretary. He walks into her room for a while as she holds it in her hand. Going out, he is dressed. He puts it in his shirt and covers it with a handkerchief. He spends the whole day with the pin on, inside his house, doing things.
Around eleven, he gives the pin back to his secretary and goes to the bathroom for a while. I think he's taking a shower, but I'm not going to check. He comes out in pajamas, puts the pin back on, and goes to bed.
Holy shit. The son of a bitch has the miracle well guarded at all times. He doesn't give a chance to steal it.
I have to try anyway. I would say the best time is when he is sleeping. He isn't conscious, so he can't transform or defend himself. I must be able to do it.
Fluff said that I couldn't use my miracle to change the past, but I'm going to use it to interfere with the present. I'm not going to do it wrong.
I decide to appear in the corridor, since the light from the portal could wake him up, just as it has done with Chloe. I close the portal quickly, in case someone is awake and sees the glow. Four people live here.
I suddenly remember that they have an alarm, which sends me into a panic, until I realize that nothing is going off.
Right. On the top floor they do not have.
I open the door as carefully as possible, but despite that, it squeaks.
I freeze. My heart begins to beat even faster. I look to the sides. No one. No one has been able to hear it.
Has he woken up? I wait a moment. I don't think so.
I go ahead and walk into the room.
It's dark and there is no light coming from the corridor, luckily, I have sight in the dark. I don't close because what for? His breathing is smooth and steady. I think so, he's still asleep.
Next to the door is a table. I would say that it's for work, but this man must have an office, so I don't know what it's for. In front of the door and in front of the bed is a chest of drawers that looks old, but surely it's only "aged". There he locks the kwami at night, like any good person. On the wall opposite the door is a closet. Why if he also has a dresser? I don't know.
I start to walk slowly in the direction of the side where he is lying.
His breathing becomes a little different and moves to the side. Now it'll be more difficult.
I stop and look at him. He is moving a lot. No. He is waking up.
Think fast.
I drop to the floor, behind the foot of the bed. Damn it. I'm going to hide below. I crawl on the ground.
A sound of sheets and blankets tells me he's getting up.
I see his feet appear and tuck them into the slippers before walking across the room to the door and out.
Shit.
Before he comes back, I climb out from under the bed and make a portal to the burrow.
"It was time! Do you know how long I've been waiting?"
"None. Time doesn't pass in here."
But it's good to know that a person in here feels like a lot of time has passed.
I drop her back in her suite and I go to my room. Of course, not everything is as easy as going to my room and sleeping. And it's not because I'm thinking about my failed attempt to steal the miracle, that too, but because of what I find.
"Is it me... or is there a pink monkey jumping on my bed?" I wonder aloud.
Fluff, next to me, turns around on herself.
"It's up to you. And there's a monkey jumping on your bed."
What? Ah, hallucination, I should have thought of that first. I'm very tired.
"Then what do I do? It's not like I can pretend it's not there. I always feel and hear hallucinations."
"There are people in this house who don't."
Is she saying what I think she's saying? Yes, it seems so.
"Jalil!" he doesn't appear. "Jalil!"
"How about you go to his room?"
"No need, it's right here. Ja...!"
A hand covers my mouth.
"Why are you screaming so much? You have legs."
Why has it taken so long?
"You see it?" I ask, pointing to the pink monkey.
"See what?"
"Nothing. Can you change my room for tonight?"
My brother narrows his eyes suspiciously.
"There's something there, right?"
I definitely can't get away with a lie.
"I promise you won't mind. It is something that only I can see and feel. You know, holder stuff."
"Is it some kind of dark creature? Like a demon?"
He seems scared. What makes he think I would put him in danger?
"No, absolutely not. It's a monkey. A pink monkey."
My brother blinks several times in stupefaction. I take that as a yes, so I go to his room.
"I'm going to use your mobile charger!" I warn him.
What would my other timeline self have done to have a pink monkey jumping on the bed?
"I do not know if either of you has thought about meeting this afternoon, but I have to warn you that it will be impossible for me." Kagami says as soon as she and Chloe meet me in the schoolyard.
Well, the truth is that I had nothing in mind. I wanted to go skating for a while and take the paints with me in case I feel like doing some graffiti.
Although that phrase seems to be an attempt to start a conversation about what she's going to do this afternoon.
"Why?" I ask, to give rise to what she really wants to say.
We go up the first stairs.
"Monsieur d'Argencourt is coming to give me private fencing lessons." she announces with her usual solemnity and seriousness.
"Why would anyone want to force you to spend even more time with your old teacher?" Chloe intervenes with her usual unbearable tone.
Has she forgotten that he was unfairly fired? I prefer him a thousand times over the teacher we have now.
"He has found work again. You should be happy for him." I answer.
She gives me a strange look, like that's not important, and she shrugs.
Kagami is offended. Although it isn't something new either. She is capable of offending anyone easily.
"It isn't an obligation. I'm delighted. He is the best fencer in Paris and his time will be mine alone. I'm going to beat Adrien even with the physical handicap."
"Adrien, Adrien, Adrien. Everyone always talking about him."
We enter the hallway of our class.
"What do you mean?"
"I don't know, ask Chloe."
Kagami turns sharply to the blonde.
"What does she mean?"
We enter the class.
"That now, he's going to spend a little more time with us."
We got to our tables. What's that?
"Does that mean we have finally...?"
Kagami has noticed the same thing as me: her desk.
It's full of scribbles and insults written in black marker. "Slut" "Crazy" "Bully" "Stalker" "Leave Marinette alone" And on.
I feel my face heat up. Who the hell did this? They're going to take the beating of their life. I clench my fists.
No. I have to calm down or I'll akumatize. Although it is surely Kagami who is akumatized. I have to calm down for her.
I look at her. She's completely still, with an absolutely neutral expression. She's trying to control herself. I'm sure she's worse than me. I do the same thing I did the time she was almost akumatized.
I hold her hand.
I look at Chloe, who realizes what I want, and she copies me.
Whatever is on the order of the day, we are with her.
A/N: I don't know if bullying in France is like that. What I do know is that this is how it looks in anime and manga, which (spoiler) was the intention of the bullies.
