Episode 92: Current Events

Continuing on their journey to Olivine City and the next gym, Mew and her friends come to a clearing where refreshing breezes are swirling around them. The group looks to their right.

"Hey guys, look at those fans!" Mew says.

Pikachu and Eevee reply, (They're huge!)

"They're not fans, Mew," Misty says.

"Those things are windmills that make electricity," Brock says.

"Those things make electricity?" Tomo asks, interested.

"Yeah, the wind turns the windmills and the windmills power turbines that generate electricity," Brock explains

"It is pretty breezy up here," Mew says.

All the Pokemon agree.

"It feels nice, though," Molly says.

"I agree," Jen says.

Then Brock says, "Let's take a break, guys. Give the Pokemon some fresh air."

"Why not?" Misty says.

"Okay," Mew says, and calls out her Pokemon.

Bulbasaur, Cyndaquil, Totodile, Chikorita, and some of her other Pokemon. Chikortia then leaps to Mew's arms and nuzzles her.

Mew giggles, "I'm happy to see you, too, Chikorita, but that tickles! Hey, everybody, what say we relax and enjoy the weather for a while?"

All the Pokemon agree to the idea.

Meanwhile, Team Rocket are seen wandering and starving.

"I'm starving," Meowth says.

"There's got to be a restaurant around here somewhere," Jessie says.

Soon, James spots a white building off to his right, "Hey, what's that place?"

"Who knows? It looks like it's abandoned," Jessie says.

"Maybe dere's some abandoned food inside," Meowth suggests.

"Yeah!" Jessie and James happily agree.

As the three run to the building, James prepares to open the door.

"Anybody home?" James asks.

However, the door seems to be locked.

"Uh oh. The door's locked," James says.

Then Meowth noticed the keypad next to the door, "It's one of dem fancy security systems."

"You know what that means, don't you? There must be something valuable inside," Jessie says.

"Must be," James replies with a nod.

"I'll get us in dere, just leave it to me!" Meowth says, bringing out his claws.

He then insets one of his claws into the card swipe slot, "Now, let me see."

But Meowth notices nothing is happening, "It ain't woiking."

James pulls on the door handle, "Come on, Meowth! Open it!"

"Hey! Just give me a minute, I'll get dis ting open!" Meowth says, jiggling his claw in the slot, but he ends up behind and breaking his claw.

Meowth screams, "Dat ting broke my claw!" and resorts to scratching it, "I'll teach you to mess with me you rotten little…"

But before Meowth can finish his sentence, they all get shocked by a jolt of electricity. But soon after, the door slightly moves.

Jessie and James happily cheer, "It's open!"

"I nailed it!" Meowth says

Soon, they're inside.

"Well, this is disappointing. There's nothing to eat up here," Jessie says.

They soon try calling the elevator, but nothing.

Meowth soon spots the stairs, "Wonder where dis staircase goes."

"Hey, maybe this leads to a big cafeteria!" Jessie says.

"You think so?" James replies.

Meowth happily says, "Let's find out! Follow me, team!"

Team Rocket soon descends the stairs to find some food.

Meanwhile, the gang is preparing lunch.

"Hey, guys, anybody interested in having a picnic lunch?" Brock asks.

"Yeah, me!" Misty says.

"Me too," Tomo says.

"We are too," Jen says.

Molly happily nods.

"I'll take Pikachu and Eevee to go get some firewood," Mew says, and turns her head, "Hey…"

But soon notices that Pikachu and Eevee are sleeping next to Cyndaquill, Cleffa, and Igglybuff.

"Oh, well. They're tired out," Mew says, and turns to Chikorita, "What do you say, Chikorita? Wanna come with me?"

Chikorita happily accepts.

Meanwhile, Team Rocket wanders around the hall of the building to find a cafeteria.

"No cafeteria down here," Jessie says.

"Just what kind of building do you think this is, Jessie?" James questions.

A Magnemite suddenly approaches.

"A Magnemite," Meowth points out.

"I wonder why Magnemite is hanging around here," James replies.

Soon, four more Magnemite appear to block Team Rocket's path. That makes Team Rocket concerned.

"They don't sound too friendly, do they?" James questions,

The five Magnemite attack, prompting Team Rocket to vamoose. Meanwhile, back outside, Mew and Chikorita are searching for firewood.

"Not much wood around here," Mew says.

Soon, they come across the same building Team Rocket found.

"I wonder what that place is," Mew replies.

They soon approach

"Well, the door's open," Mew says.

Soon, Chikorita and Mew enter inside.

Mew calls out, "Hello? Hello?! Is anybody here?! Anybody here?!"

Suddenly, the door closes on them.

"I guess the wind must've blown the door shut," Mew says.

She tries to open the door, but it doesn't budge.

"Oh, great. Now it's stuck," Mew says, frustrated.

Mew tries to get the door to budge, but still nothing.

"The door won't open!" Mew says.

Mew bangs on the door and calls out, "Hey! Someone, open the door! Pikachu! Eevee! Misty! Brock! Anyone! HELP! Let us out of here!"

Chikorita calls out, "CHIKORI!" (HELP US!) and tries to bang on the door as well.

Meanwhile, Pikachu and Eevee sense something and wakes up

Pikachu realizes, "Pika Pi. Pika!" (Mew. Hold on!)

"Eevee Eevee!" (Mew needs help, let's find her!" Eevee says.

Pikachu runs off, confusing everyone.

"Pikachu! Eevee! Where are you going?" Tomo calls out.

"Hey, look! I wonder why Pikachu and Eevee ran off like that," Mew says.

"Maybe Mew is in some kind of trouble. Maybe we better follow them," Brock says.

Everyone agrees.

Meanwhile, Team Rocket is cornered by the Magnemite. However, the Magnemite back off and leave.

"They're gone," Jessie says, relieved. Then wonders, "Why do you think they attacked us in the first place?"

"Who knows? But I don't care for those shock treatments!" James happily replies.

"At least dey're over, for now," Meowth says.

Team Rocket sighs with relief.

Meanwhile, Brock, Misty and the others soon arrive at the building.

Misty calls out, "Mew!"

"Are you okay?" Brock asks.

Pikachu and Eevee call out, "Pika Pi!/Eevee!" (Mew!)

"Are you okay?" Jen asks.

"We're fine, but the door is locked, and Chikorita and I can't get out," Mew calls out.

"That's not gonna be easy. It's an electric lock and it looks fried," Brock says.

"What kind of a building is this, do you think?" Molly asks.

"I'm not positive, but it might have something to do with those windmills," Brock says.

"Well, whatever it is, we gotta find some way to get that door open and Mew and Chikorita out," Misty says.

"I'm gonna call the electric company, maybe they can open it!" Brock says.

Then turns to Mew, "Hey, Mew! Sit tight, I'm gonna go get you all some help!"

"Okay, thanks a lot, Brock!" Mew says.

She sighs, "Well Chikorita, it looks like we'll have to wait until help arrives.

Chikorita soon calls out, "Chikori, chiko!" (Come look at the map!)

Mew calls to see Chikorita pointing at a map.

"A floor plan!" Mew says. "Let's see."

She looks to see the red square Chikorita is pointing at.

"Looks like there's a control room three floors down, "Mew says, "There's gotta be a way to open the door from down there! Maybe there's an electric switch or some kind of button."

Mew then pets Chikorita, "Good job, Chikortia."

"Chiko," (Thank you.) Chikorita happily says.

"Come on, let's check it out," Mew says.

They soon climb down the stairs to another floor, when they're spotted by the group of Magnemite and attack them.

Everyone quickly runs down the hall.

"What are all those Magnemite doing here?!" Mew asks.

Suddenly, the path is blocked by more Magnemite. They attack, but Chikorita deflects the shocks with her leaf.

"Yeah! Way to go, Chikorita!" Mew cheers.

Soon, the group of Magnemite attack from both ends of the hallway.

"We gotta get away from those things!" Mew panics.

Meanwhile, Team Rocket is wandering around.

"We ain't found any food anywhere," Mewoth says.

"And I was hoping for a cafeteria," James says, disappointed.

"Me, too," Jessie says, just as disappointed, "Or something valuable that we could bring to the boss."

Soon, they spot Mew and Chikorita running down the hallway with the Magnemite behind them

"That's the twerp with her Chikorita," Jessie says.

"I wonder why she hasn't had her Pikachu and Eevee along with him today," James replies.

And Jessie says, "This might be our lucky break."

"Instead of lunch, we'll pick ourselves up a Chikorita," James says.

"And if we get rid of dem, we can get outta here and grab us a Pikachu and Eevee to go!" Meowth says.

Meanwhile Mew and Chikorita are backed against a shutter with the Magnemite staring them down.

"Our only chance to get away is to battle our way out!" Mew says, and calls out, "Quick, use your Razor Leaf attack, Chikorita!"

Chikorita fires the attack and hits one of them, but another takes the place of its comrade.

"Chikorita, keep knocking em out, one by one!" Mew says.

They do so, but more Magnemite come in to replace the fallen.

"Oh no! The more of them we knock out, the more they keep showing up!" Mew says.

And suddenly, a Magneton shows up.

"A Magneton!" Mew says, shocked.

Magneton fires an electrical blast at a cornered Chikorita.

"Chikorita!" Mew cries out, as she dives in and rescues Chikorita in time as the blast destroys part of the shutter.

"That sure was a close one, but we made it," Mew says.

Chikorita nuzzles Mew. As the Magnemite stares down at Mew and Chikorita.

Team Rocket watches from afar.

"Dat's it. Wear yourselves out fighting each other," Meowth says.

"If they keep this up, pretty soon, they'll all be too tired to fight us off, too," James says.

"Yes. We may be able to catch them all," Jessie says.

Then Wobbuffet shows up, "WOBBUFFET!" (Gotta catch em all!)

Jessie pushes Wobbuffet down, "Be quiet, blob-o, or you'll give us away!"

At the same time, Mew and Chikorita are being stared down by the Magenemite and Magneton.

Just then, Chikorita points something behind them. Mew looks to see the hole made by the Magneton's and sees a staircase.

"A staircase!" Mew says.

And then she has an idea, "I know what to do about them?"

Mew then throws her Pokeball as she calls out, "Igglybuff! Clefairy! Smoochum! I choose you!"

And with that, all three Pokemon come out.

"Alright everyone, triple sing!" Mew calls out.

And with that, the three Pokemon sing together, which causes the Magnemite and Magneton to fall asleep.

"That will get them off our backs for a while," Mew says.

Then turns to the Pokemon, "Now let's go."

Meanwhile, back outside, Brock rushes back.

"What happened? Did you talk to anybody at the electric company?" Misty asks.

"Yeah, but the guy said it's gonna be a while before they send somebody out here who can get the door open," Brock says.

On the next floor, Mew and her Pokemon reach the bottom.

"Well, that was a pretty close call, guys," Mew says.

"Almost there. The control room's down one more level," Mew says.

Back on the upper floor, Team Rocket returns to see the Magnet Pokemon are asleep.

"Look! Dey're sleeping like babies!" Meowth says.

"Yes, but the twerp disappeared with her Pokémon," James says.

"Well, let's find them," Jessie says.

Meowth soon spots the partly destroyed shutter, "Look! More stairs!"

"That's it! They all must've gone down!" James says.

"WOBBUFFET!" (Obviously!) Wobbuffet says.

Jessie pushes her Pokemon down, "James said down, not clown! Hurry! We have to find those four!"

"Yeah!" James says.

Mew and her Pokemon wander among the generators.

"I wonder how we get downstairs," Mew says.

Suddenly, an Electrode shows up.

"Oh, great! This time, it's an Electrode!" Mew says.

Chikorita stands at the ready.

But Mew says, "Hold on, Chikrotia. Don't get it excited, we'll just have to find another way downstairs."

Suddenly, another Electrode blocks the path to the right.

"Well, we can't go down that way, so we'll have to…" Mew says, but soon finds that the other way is blocked by another one.

As well as the way behind them all

"They got us surrounded!" Mew says.

One Electrode charges.

Mew calls out, "Quick, try a Vine Whip attack, Chikorita!"

Chikorita uses the attack to hit Electrode, but it goes faster before Mew and the others slide step before it starts to use Explosion.

"The Electrode are going to Explode! Come on, we better run for it!" Mew says.

Mew and her Pokemon runs down the hall and narrowly escape the Explosion before the other Electrode pursue them. Meanwhile, Team Rocket hears them screaming

"Sounds like the twerps!" James says.

"They must be close by," Jessie says.

"Let's grab em before dey get away!" Meowth says.

Meanwhile, another Electrode explodes, but Mew and her Pokemon run into another hallway to avoid it. Two more Electrode Explode, but the group avoids them, too, and head right before more Electrode come after them. Suddenly, they find themselves cut off by another Electrode.

Mew panics, "Another one?! These things are everywhere!"

The Electrode prepares to Explode.

"This way!" Mew says, and opens the door, "Everyone, get in here!"

Everyone gets in and Mew shuts the door to shield themselves as the Electrode goes boom

"That was another close call, huh?" Mew says.

Soon, Mew looks and sees the stairs leading to the bottom floor.

"There's the staircase! Okay, are you ready, everyone?" Mew replies.

Everyone agrees.

Meanwhile, Team Rocket comes to the bottom of the stairs.

"Now where did that twep get to?" Meowth asks.

"They've got to be here on this floor," Jessie says.

Team Rocket stops at a door.

"Another room," Jessie says.

"Maybe that's where the kid and her Pokémon are," James says.

"Den let's open up dat door and find em!" Meowth says,

They do so, but find an Electabuzz instead.

Team Rocket panics, "Oh, no! An Electabuzz!"

The Electabuzz fires some electricity to warn them off, and Team Rocket quickly apologizes

"We're sorry. We don't mean no harm, we're just visiting," Meowth says.

Electabuzz then says, "Eurrrr! (I'm in charge of security here!)

"Oh, you're da one in charge of security for dis joint, huh?" Meowth says

"So all those Electrode and Magnemite…" Jessie realizes.

James also realizes, "They must be working as security guards."

Electabuzz walks towards them.

And Meowth quickly says, "Take it easy, buzzy! You got us all wrong! We ain't trespassing, we just dropped by to say hi!"

"We're from the home office! We heard you were doing a great job!" Jessie says.

"Right! We're on the same team, buddy!" James says.

"WOBUFFET!" (That is right!) Wobbuffet says.

"That's right," Jessie and James agree.

"Yeah, but we just saw some suspicious looking kid and dere Pokémon sneaking around," Meowth says.

The Electabuzz goes off to find them while Team Rocket sighs with relief.

"Dat was lucky," Meowth says.

"Now we got the security chief doing our dirty work!" James says.

"It's perfect," Jessie says, "Electabuzz will attack the twerp's Pokémon will attack back, and when they're all worn out, we can catch them all."

"WOBBUFFET!" (Excellent!) Wobbuffet says.

Back outside, help finally arrives as a car pulls up and a woman steps out.

The woman approaches them, "I'm the head of security. Have you been waiting long?"

Brock goes all lovey dovey and takes her hand, "For you? I've been waiting my whole life for you."

The woman becomes confused by the response.

Misty then pulls Brock away by the ear, "Cool it, Brock. She's here to save Mew and her Pokemon, not your love life.

Later, the woman starts to fix the security pad.

The head of security says, "Another few minutes. Your friend Mew must be very patient, I haven't heard them say a word."

"She usually is, but Mew decided to went looking around to try to find something to open up the door with," Misty explains.

"She did?" The woman questions, shocked, "That isn't good. I'll have to work quickly."

"Why? Isn't it safe in there?" Tomo asks.

"Not for her. We've got Pokémon guards everywhere," The head says.

The Pokemon won't hurt them, will they?" Misty asks, worried.

The head of security explains, "The Pokémon security guards are trained the protect this building from all intruders. If they find your friend before they do, I'm afraid she's going to be in trouble."

"Oh no!" Molly says, worried

Meanwhile, Mew, Chikorita, and the other Pokemon are on the fourth floor, still wandering around.

"The map said it was around here, somewhere," Mew says.

Suddenly, they see the Electabuzz that Team Rocket run into come out of the hallway to the right.

"Hey! Electabuzz!" Mew says, and brings out her Pokedex.

Dexter says, "Electabuzz, the Electric Pokémon. Electabuzz is the evolved form of Elekid. An Electric Type. With powerful electric currents constantly coursing through its body, Electabuzz appears to glow."

The Electabuzz suddenly attacks.

"So you're gonna hassle us, too, huh?" Mew says, and calls out, "Okay, Chikorita, get ready to battle!"

Chikorita does so as Electabuzz charges in with a Thunder Punch.

"That's a Thunder Punch! Quick, dodge it, Chikorita!" Mew calls out.

Chikorita leaps out of the way as the Thunder Punch hits the floor.

Great, now try a Razor Leaf!" Mew calls out.

Chikorita does so, but it's quickly shot down by Electabuzz before it fires a Swift attack at Chikorita

"Stay focused, Chikorita!" Mew says, as Chikorita recovers.

Then Mew says, "Just hold steady for its next attack!"

Electabuzz fires another attack.

"Now dodge it!" Mew calls out.

Chikorita does so, and dodges the attack.

Then Mew calls out, "Hurry, use your Vine Whip attack!

Chikorita does so and the attack staggers Electabuzz.

"Now, Tackle it, Chikorita!" Mew calls out.

Chikorita charges and nails Electabuzz.

"Nice going, Chikorita!" Mew says, and calls out, "Now Tackle it one more time!"

Chikorita charges, but Electabuzz counters and strikes first with a Thunder Punch, sending Chikorita flying. Mew catches Chikortia and falls to the ground.

Mew says, "If Casey were here, I bet she'll say that I might make a good shortstop."

Meanwhile, outside the door is finally unlocked

"Got it!" The security says.

The door soon opens.

The Pokemon are relieved.

Brock then approaches the lady again, "Oh thank you, miss! Now perhaps you can open your heart and let my love enter in."

"Huh?" The Head of Security replies in confusion.

Misty then pulls Brock by the ear again, "It's time for you to exit."

Then the Head of Security says, "Let's try to find your friends before the Pokemon do!"

Back on the bottom floor.

Get ready, Chikorita!" Mew says.

Chikorita charges in with vines extended while Electabuzz charges in with another Thunder Punch.

"Try a Tackle attack, Chikorita!" Mew calls out.

But as both Pokemon near each other, a cage drops down on them.

"Hey! Where'd that cage come from?!" Mew calls out.

And with that, Team Rocket appears in the cage and performs their motto.

Jessie:

Prepare for trouble!

James:

And make it double!

Jessie:

To protect the world from devastation.

James:

To unite all peoples within our nation.

Jessie:

To denounce the evils of truth and love.

James:

To extend our reach to the stars above.

Jessie:

Jessie.

James:

James.

Jessie:

Team Rocket, blast off at the speed of light!

James:

Surrender now, or prepare to fight, fight, fight!

Wobbuffet:

WO! ("Yeah!")

And Meowth kicked Wobbuffet, "Quiet, Wobby!"

"Alright, you losers, let my Chikorita go! And that Electabuzz, too!" Mew demands.

"Sorry, no can do," Jessie says.

"Chikorita and Electabuzz belong to us now!" James adds

Chikorita tries breaking the bars of the cage with a Razor Leaf, but to no avail. Electabuzz also fails to destroy the cage with a Thunderbolt while Team Rocket laughs at their triumph.

"Dey can attack as much as dey wanna, but dey ain't getting outta that cage!" Meowth says.

"It absorbs electric attacks, and those bars are way to strong to break or bend," James says

"Have a nice day!" Jessie says.

Team Rocket then run off with the Pokemon, "Ta-ta, twerps!"

"Hey, come back!" Mew shouts and chase after them.

Meanwhile, the others arrive on the bottom floor via the elevator.

"Chances are they went looking for the control room, so they may be somewhere in this area," The head says.

As they go down the hallway to their left, Team Rocket comes in.

Let's try the elevator, shall we?" James says.

"Up, up and away!" Jessie happily says.

Team Rocket climbs into the elevator as Mew comes running

"Too late! I'd better take the stairs!" Mew says.

Mew then runs down the hall as fast as she can, then Misty peeks out from a corner and looks

"That was Mew! TShe went right down that hall and she was running fast!" Misty says.

"Something must be up," Tomo says.

"And I'll bet Team Rocket is involved," Jen says.

Then Brock says, "She might need our help, guys. Maybe we'd better go and follow her."

Everyone agrees with the idea.

Meanwhile, Team Rocket is outside and making their getaway when Mew spots them.

Mew jumps off the ledge and slides down towards them, "I gotta try!"

And soon, Mew blocks their path.

"What's the twerp doing here?!" Team Rocket exclaims.

"You're not getting away! Not with my Chikorita!" Mew angrily says.

"Well, we'll just see about that! Arbok, go!" Jessie says, and calls out her Pokemon.

And Arbok comes out.

James does the same, "Victreebel, I choose you!"

Victreebel comes out, but ends up trying to eat James' head.

James cries out, "Not me! Her! Get her!"

Jessie calls out, "Arbok, launch a Poison Sting attack!"

Arbok fires the attack

James calls out, "Victreebel, use your Razor Leaf attack!"

Both Arbok and Victreebel launch the attack. Mrew dodges the attacks as fast as she can.

Meowth chuckles, "We're gonna win!"

Mew ends up getting attacked, one move after another, as Chikorita is forced to watch from within the cage. With Razor Leaf, Vine Whip, Wrap Attack, and Poison Sting.

Jessie says, "Get ready, now, Arbok!"

"Victreebel…" James says.

Jessie and James call out, "Attack him together!"

Both Pokémon nail Mew and land to the ground.

Mew struggles to get up as she says, "I...want Chikorita back!"

Chikorita looks at her battered trainer in tears

"Chikorita!" Mew calls out.

Soon, Chikorita lets out a cry as she starts glowing, catching everyone's attention as the rest of the gang and the security arrive on the scene.

Mew is shocked, "Chikorita.

"Hey, look!" Brock notices.

"Chikorita's evolving!" Misty says.

Chikorita's legs and neck straighten and its leaf sharpens to a point before the glow fades, and is now a Bayleef.

"Awesome!" Tomo cheers.

"Mew's Chikorita just evolved into a Bayleef!" Misty says.

Mew brings out her Pokedex and Dexter says, "Bayleef, the Leaf Pokémon, and the evolved form of Chikorita. A Grass Type. From the leaves on its neck, Bayleef can produce a spicy fragrance which allows those who sniff it to become happy or energized."

"We've got a Bayleef!" Jessie cheers.

"That's even better than a Chikorita!" James adds.

"Let's make our getaway!" Meowth says.

Mew then calls out, "Bayleef, use your Razor Leaf attack!"

Bayleef attacks, and proves that its attack gotten stronger as the front of the cage shatters to the shock of Team Rocket.

"Its Razor Leaf cut right through!" James panics.

Both Bayleef and Electabuzz escape the cage

"That was great! You're free!" Mew says, rushing to the Pokemon, "Are both of okay?"

Both Pokemon confirm and they turn their attention to Team Rocket.

"Team Rocket…" Mew angrily says.

"I think it's time for you all to pay for what you've done!" The Head of Security says.

Team Rocket panics as Pikachu, Eevee, and Electabuzz start sparking.

"Go, Electabuzz!" The woman calls out.

"Pikachu, Eevee, use your Thunderbolt attack!" Mew calls out.

The three launch the attack and hit them.

Then Mew calls out, "Now, let's get rid of em, Bayleef! Use your Vine Whip attack on em!"

Bayleef then uses Vine Whip and lands the attack hard and sends Team Rocket flying.

"We're blasting off again!" Team Rocket cries out.

"WO!" (WHY?!) Wobbuffet cries out.

"You're awesome, Bayleef!" Mew happily says and hugs Bayleef.

Bayleef is happy and nuzzles Mew.

Later that evening, Mew and her friends are preparing to head off.

"Thanks again, everyone. And I apologize for all the trouble my Pokemon security guards caused you," The head of security says.

"Thanks, but we shouldn't have gone in there without asking permission first," Mew says.

"Okay, great!" Brock says, and moves towards the woman, "Do you think you could use somebody like me on your security squad?"

Misty grabs Brock by the ear, "Luckily, there's nobody like you."

"Well, anyway, we appreciate everything you did to get rid of that nasty Team Rocket," The woman says.

But Mew says, "Don't thank me, thank Bayleef. I couldn't have done it without ya."

"Bayleef!" (Thank you!) Bayleef happily says.

And with that, Bayleef pounces on Mew, causing her to fall to the ground. Bayleef then nuzzles Mew with glee.

Mew giggles, "Oh Bayleef."

Everyone begins laughing with a smile. Seems that all that ends well, despite all the hitches, Mew and Bayleef are able to get out of this mess. And thanks to Mew's care and determination, Chikorita evolves into Bayleef.
