Authors Note Intro

In this fanfic, I want my multiversal traveler self to be the secretly adopted sister of Harry Potter.

Lilly and James Potter had been assigned by the government, at the recommendation of Dumbledore, with somehow perfect timing for them to pretend they had 2 children instead of one.

However, along came Voldemort. Apart from his original intentions, he wished to kidnap Zina and use her overflow of extra magic to his advantage. But, alas, Voldemort was undermined by the power of Lilly's love for Harry and her adopted daughter. Dumbledore dropped Zina Lyn Potter with Harry James Potter at Pivot Drive, despite knowing her absence of having a blood relative in that house. I may have to re-read the books to know how to write it. Also, it will be my take on their universe, as in my personal view or it, including things from both books and movies.

Plus, I have neither read the 6th and 7th books, nor watched (all of) their movies. And memory is fuzzy around the end of #5. Oh well.

Prologue

A select group from the Ministry of Magic were confused.

"Where did you say you found this child? She doesn't look a day old!" said one lady.

"Her name is Zina, and a centaur from the Dark Forest at Hogwarts gave her to Hagrid," Dumbledore said. "They said her magic… is bigger than even Merlin's."

"Then how come things aren't randomly happening around her?" a different person added.

"Her magic comes off in waves. Anyone, even Muggles and Squibs, if they can tell it's there, can grab hold of it and use it," Dumbledore explained. "It flows naturally into magical people, and I believe when she is older, that she will be able to direct that flow."

"Can we actually trust this information?" asked another secretive person. "Also, why is that a problem?"

"Because of You-Know-Who," said the first. "If he were the primary outlet of her magic, then he could be the emperor of the entire world!"

"Which is why we are gathered here- to choose someone we can trust to be her adopted parents," Dumbledore said.

"But won't it be suspicious if someone adopts a child during this time?" said person number three. "Unless…"

"Here's an up to her youth, I guess. Know anyone we can trust with a really soon due date?" said the first lady.

"Yes," said Dumbledore. "Two couples, but I would rather her be in the hands of Lily and James Potter."

(Line Break)

"So… you're saying that we are forging documents -something at least generally illegal- and making documents to somehow legalize it, to hide someone from a government we can't trust," said Lily Potter. "That sounds like one of the worst plans ever. Also, why us? Aren't there other couples?"

"The Longbottoms, but they are a bit busy right now," said the messenger.

"Does she have a name?" asked the soon-to-be-father.

"Yes. Zina Lyn. She doesn't have a surname yet," said the messenger.

"How is she going to pass off as a newborn though?" Lily asked.

"Her own extra magic is different than ours. Some trusted people have been able to use it to keep her that age. When she arrived, she didn't exactly look a day old either," the messenger relayed.

"Are you sure we can do this?" Lily asked her husband.

"If we don't, who will?" he replied. "And who else than you would be able to raise her to know where her morals lie?

"I guess that's right. We accept," said Lily.

Lily's due date must have been extremely accurate, because the next day Harry James Potter was born. Zina was delivered to their house, and they called them twins. The love they had tripled.

However, one of their friends, who had been let in on the secret, was a traitor. On Halloween, when Zina and Harry were a few months older than one year, Voldemort tried to kidnap Zina with her hidden magical capabilities, he was confronted by Lily and James. With the little girl slung over one shoulder and wand in his other hand, he killed her adoptive parents. But when he threw the killing curse upon Harry, the dark lord crumpled. He couldn't escape with her, so both toddlers lay on the floor, alone.

There was a huge argument about where Zina should go. Sirius Black, her and Harry's godfather, unfortunately, was suspected to be the traitor that let He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named in on Zina's secret, so she couldn't go there. She had her own share of fame, so they couldn't leave her with anyone else, for fear of spoiling her character. The deciding factor of her fate rested on her closeness with her "twin". And they were inseparable. Therefore, the Valued Girl and the Boy-Who-Lived stayed with their relatives, the Dursleys.

Chapter1

At their house the "twins" had separate rooms. Zina had a surprisingly large upstairs broom closet for a bedroom (she still had to share the space with the cleaning supplies). Harry got the cupboard under the stairs. Worked like slaves and bullied by their spoiled cousin, Dudley, it was safe to say that they weren't exactly placed under the safest care. But at least they had each other to bear it with.

The Potter children didn't necessarily have a much better school life. They were stuck at the same school as Dudley (luckily, they didn't have to sit next to him). Zina had it slightly better, because of her strange ability to slip through all near death holds.

At home the only mail addressed to either of them was medical information. Except when, around their 11th birthday, they received a storm of letters by owl.

The Dursleys didn't let them read a single one. They boarded up the mail slot. They switched who was in what room. They threw the letters in the fire. They finally, on the night before the Potter "twins" birthday, they moved to a shack on an island. It may not even deserve that name, how little shelter it actually gave.

Somehow, the Dursleys fell asleep. Zina and Harry counted down to their birthday like one would count down to New Year's Day, only quieter.

12… 11… 10… 9…

8… 7… 6… 5…

4… 3… 2…

At zero, the door crashed broken, waking the Dursleys. A large, tall man came through the doorway. He had to duck to get through.

"Sorry, let me just… uh… Put that back," he said as he gently placed the door back in its place.

Dudley started bawling. As Aunt Petunia wet to comfort him, Vernon Dursley grew red in the face.

Hagrid explained to the Potter children that they were magic. Uncle Vernon was terrified of him. When Dudley stole one of the cakes Hagrid made for Zina and Harry, Hagrid gave him a pig tail. After all, he was a pig. But the "twins" were to keep quiet about that. Hagrid wasn't supposed to do magic.

They left the island by boat, then headed to a place called The Leaky Cauldron.

And now my actual first Chapter of the fic is finished! If you wanted to know what's going on with Zina's magic, what I can tell you is that it is fundamentally different. She doesn't come from a Harry Potter universe, she comes from somewhere else. That somewhere else is kinda my own brain, but she also wouldn't consider that where she comes from.
