Hey, everybody.
So, I do not know where the idea for this story came from. I've recently gotten back into the Narnia series, and I was wondering if I could write some Narnia fanfictions. Then, this idea somehow came to me, and I decided to run with it.
So, this story follows the Narnia movies, as I admit I'm more familiar with the movies than the books, and begins right at the end of the Force Unleashed game.
Let's get to it and see how this goes.
Chapter 1
Galen almost screams as he holds back the Force lightning in his hands. The Emperor pours more energy into the lightning, cackling as he does. However, Galen is not about to let the Emperor win. As the Senators and Rahm Kota hurry to escape, Galen pushes himself forward, struggling against the Emperor's power. Screaming from the effort, he pushes himself forward. He looks into the Emperor's face and says, "You will never win."
The Emperor scowls and pours more power into his lightning. But Galen holds it back as he pushes on. Then, at last, he reaches out and grasps the Emperor's shoulders, and almost instantly, an explosion of energy envelops them.
Galen feels like everything is burning. He can feel his life fading away as the power from the explosion envelops him. But, then, suddenly, all the pain and feeling of weakening fades. Galen tentatively opens his eyes, and suddenly finds himself surrounded by white light, with nothing else in sight. Looking down at himself, he sees all the wounds on his body have been healed, and his clothing has been repaired.
"Wh-where am I?" Galen says to nobody in particular.
To his surprise, he receives an answer. "You are in a space between worlds."
Galen looks around, and sees ahead of him an even more brilliant golden light shining amidst the white light surrounding him. "Who are you? Where am i?" Galen demands, panicking a little.
"I am the one known as the Emperor-beyond-the-sea. You are no longer within the place you once called home. Left there, you would have died, though those you fought think you have. However, destiny has yet more in store for you. Your purpose in life is not yet done, Galen Marek."
Galen is silent, not sure what to say right now as his mind is running almost at light speed trying to process what's going on. Finally, he demands, "What do you want of me?!"
"You have lived your life in darkness, but finally allowed the light to break through. Now, it is time to allow the light you have discovered to guide you in your next purpose in life. There is yet more for you to do. I govern all in existence, and in one of my creations, there is need of you. You are needed to bring peace to a land that lies under oppression," the voice says.
Galen is again silent for several moments before he demands, "And why should I do this? Who are you to ask this of me?"
"I am the creator of all," the voice responds, and a fierce wind seems to suddenly start whipping at his body for several moments before subsiding.
Galen's feels a sense of fear and awe fill him. While he cannot know for certain this being's identity and exactly who they are, they are clearly powerful. Beyond even what he can do.
"But why me?" he asks.
"As I said, your life has been lived in darkness. It is now time to live within the light. It is time to use the gifts you have been given to bring freedom and light to those suffering in darkness."
"But…where am I going?" he asks.
"To a that will seem most unusual to us…to a land created by my son. You will learn more soon enough." Then, the golden light fades.
"Wait! Wait! Tell me more!" Galen demands, but there is no answer. The wind begins to pick up again, and the light grows brighter and brighter. It is then that it seems consciousness passes from him.
(Narnia)
The Pevensie siblings stumble through the snow, following the beaver who is leading them through the woods. The three older Pevensies had been surprised when the beaver spoke like a human. They were beginning to realize that this really was a land of magic, a land beyond their understanding. Susan was still highly skeptical of what was going on, not convinced it wasn't a dream, and Edmund was impatient, wanting to leave for the White Witch's castle straight away. Peter and Lucy were more calm as they followed Mr. Beaver, although they're getting a little worried about the setting sun.
"How much further?" Peter asks.
"Not much further," Mr. Beaver responds.
Suddenly, and without warning, a brilliant flash of light erupts up ahead, forcing the siblings and Mr. Beaver to cover their eyes. The light fades after a moment.
The siblings and Mr. Beaver lower their hands and look in the direction of the flash. "What was that?" Susan asks timidly.
"I'm not sure," Mr. Beaver says. He movies forward slowly, inching up to the boulder up ahead of them. Clambering over the boulder, he peeks over the boulder. A second later, he calls out, "It's another human!"
Mr. Beaver leaps over the boulder. The Pevensies look at each other in surprise before hurrying after Beaver. As they come around the boulder, they see that Beaver was right. Lying in the snow is a young man. He's wearing some kind of strange black suit, covering his entire body below the neck, with thick gloves covering his hands. Some kind of white hood rests behind his shoulders, with trails raining down over his shoulders and down his chest. His head is almost shaved bald, with just a small stubble of hair. More than that, he's lying completely unconscious.
The Pevensies rush forward and gather around the unconscious young man. As they gather around him, Beaver nudges the young man with his head roughly to try and wake him up. "Wake up, man!" Beaver says.
Peter also shakes the young man's shoulder. "Hey. Are you okay?"
The young man is still for a moment…and then his eyes snap open. He immediately sees the siblings and the beaver gathered around him, and faster than any of them expected of someone, scrambles back on all fours away from them. "Wh-what?! Who are you? Where am I? What's going on? What is this place? How did I get here?" he's speaking so fast it's clear how anxious he is. The look on his face becomes one that suggests he is not one who should be kept waiting for an answer.
"Easy. Easy," Beaver says. The young man looks at Beaver in shock, wondering if he's hallucinating.
"It's alright, Son of Adam. You're safe here. We mean you no harm," Beaver says calmly.
"Where am I?" he demands again.
"You're in Narnia, in its western lands," Beaver tries to explain to the young man.
"Narnia? Where is that? The Outer Rim? Wild Space? The Unknown Regions?" the man demands.
"I have never heard those terms. What are those places?" Beaver asks.
The young man looks confused. "Wait. You don't know about the galaxy?" he asks.
Beaver looks confused. Susan, however, speaks up, "The Milky Way? What does that have to do with this place, or you? Who are you, anyway?"
The young man looks extremely confused, and like he's really trying to figure out something. Finally, he asks, "What planet is this?"
"This is the world of Narnia," Beaver says in confusion.
"And we're from Earth," Peter adds. He's starting to realize that is this place really is real, it must not exist on Earth.
The young man seems to calm down, but looks more anxious and nervous at the same time. "What did I get dropped into?" he mutters.
"Excuse me?" Peter asks, still very cautious of this man.
The man looks at them. "I come from another world. Neither this one, nor the one you four claim to come from. In fact, I may not come from the same galaxy as you all," he begins to explain.
The four Pevensies look at him like they don't know what to think. First, they ended up in this magical land. Now, they're meeting a man who's basically claiming to be an alien. Susan and Edmund are convincing themselves that this guy is crazy. However, Lucy doesn't have a problem believing him. As for Peter, he realizes that if this magical world of Narnia is possible, then surely someone coming from another planet, or even another galaxy, could be possible too.
The young man sighs before he says, "My name is Galen Marek. Where I come from, I was taken from my parents when I was young and trained to be an assassin and warrior for an evil Emperor. When I finally realized the truth of my existence, I turned against him and the man who trained me. I defeated them, and thought I'd killed myself in the process. But, something pulled me from that world and sent me here. It said I had a job to do here, but told me nothing more."
The man, who they now know as Galen, looks at them and asks, "Who are you, and what exactly is this place?"
Peter, deciding the best path forward is to be polite and try to make friends with this man, who clearly could be dangerous, says politely and as calmly as he can muster, "My name is Peter Pevensie. This is my sister, Lucy," holding Lucy a little tighter to him as he says her name before turning to his other siblings and saying, "And my sister Susan and brother Edmund. We don't come from this world. We came here through a wardrobe in our world that opened up into this place…which sounds really weird when you say it out loud."
"Not after what I've been through," Galen responds, showing he clearly believes something like this must be possible.
Beaver now speaks up to answer the second part of Galen's question. "This is the kingdom of Narnia, which lies at the center of this world. It's a land of magic."
Galen immediately thinks of the Nightistsers of Dathomir when he hears the word magic, but quickly realizes that the magic of this place can't be like the magic of the Nightsisters. He knows he would be able to feel a sense of darkness if it was. Yes, he can sense darkness in this place, but rather a darkness trying to cover the land. The land itself seems to be full of a feeling of light. That's when he feels something else. Looking down at his hand, he realizes something. He cannot feel the Force as strongly as he used. He wonders to himself if the being who sent him here limited his powers, or if what he went through caused him to lose some of his strength, or maybe this place just isn't as connected to the Force.
The others look at Galen in confusion as he is just staring down at his hand. "Are you alright?" Peter asks.
"Yeah…I'm fine. Just…trying to process," Galen says.
"You're not the only one," Susan answers. Galen realizes she must be the one of the four that is the most logical one.
Galen is quiet for a few moments before he says, "I have no idea why exactly I'm here, only that I have a mission here. I was sent here for a reason. I might as well follow somebody to try and find my way here. I hope it won't be a problem if I ask to join you for a short time."
Susan is hesitant to trust a stranger, and Edmund is concerned this man could interfere with him bringing his siblings to the White Witch. However, before they can voice their concerns in any way, Peter speaks first. "You promise you mean us no harm?" he asks.
"You have shown no ill will towards me, so I will show no ill will towards you until such a time as we may trust each other," Galen says.
"Then we don't mind you travelling with us for the time being," Peter says.
"I appreciate your kindness," Galen says, inclining his head ever so slightly in thanks.
"We better get a move on. We don't want to be caught out here after dark," Beaver says.
"Of course," Galen says. Although he knows the environment is not so extreme, he knows the same caution exists for anyone travelling to the planet Hoth.
Beaver sets off again towards the location of his home, where he had been leading the Pevensies. The Pevensies follow Beaver, and Galen follows behind the siblings. As he does, he begins to really examine the landscape that surrounds him. He seems to be in a snowbound forest, with some mountains not far from his position. The terrain is also a little rocky.
As they continue to walk, Galen again looks down at his hand, reaching within himself. Sure enough, his connection to the Force is weaker. However, it seems like he can feel his strength, buried deep down. Perhaps his final confrontation with the Emperor, and the act of coming here, had damaged his connection to his own strength. Perhaps over time, he'll be able to recover his connection to his strength, and return to the strength he once held.
And, I'll end there.
So, I hope this was a decent opener. Again, I know it's kind of a ridiculous premise, but I'm going with it.
So, there are of course multiple reasons why Galen might not be able to access the full range of his powers yet. I'll leave that up to the reader for now, but I may explain my personal choice in the story later on. Let me know what you think is the reason. Also, for those wondering about why I did it, well, I obviously had to nerf Galen a little bit at the beginning to make it so the eventual fight is not so lopsided.
Also, a little reference for the ages of the characters involved. I imagine Galen as being about 20 at this point, given how old he looks and the rough timeline we know of his birth. I'm also following the movies more for the Pevensie children's age. So, in this, Peter is 16, Susan is 15, Edmund is 13, and Lucy is 11 (this is the real age gaps of the Pevensie children in canon).
Now, obviously, Galen still retains a lot of his Force power, and is still a very skilled lightsaber duelist. So, in this, I will confirm that he will be the one to face the White Witch in the battle before Aslan kills her, and I'll show a level of power from the White Witch that I think is a little more appropriate for Jadis, as I think she's more powerful than we generally believe her to be.
Also, as this story will continue on into the reign of the Pevensies over Narnia, I'm willing to consider a possible romance between Galen and Susan. Let me know if that's something you'd like to see.
Also, for one last question I'm sure some may have. Would you like to either see this as a world where the Pevensies, and Galen, never leave Narnia, or a story where the Pevensies go back, and Galen also leaves Narnia, only for them all to return for the events of Prince Caspian? Let me know what you'd prefer to see, and I will take that into account.
Alright. That'll end it for Chapter 1. Leave a review and give me your initial impressions of this story, and what you'd like to see in the future of it. Please follow and favorite, and stay tuned for future chapters.
