"This is just a hypothetical question... Would you ever consider giving up the throne for me?" she asked, "Everyone loves Emmett and Rosalie. I think they will be an amazing king and queen. What if you give it up?"
"Are you kidding me now?" I said with disbelief.
"It's just a hypothetical question," she said.
What the fuck was going on her mind right now! She was scaring me!
"No." I said, "I won't do it."
"Oh, so you won't give it up even hypothetically?" she said.
"No, I won't," I said, "Because I had always been very clear about what this throne means to me. This was what I was born for. It's my duty, and I'm not going to give it up. You had a choice, I didn't."
"Well, technically everyone has a choice," she said.
"Well, yes, but I really don't think I have any other choice," I said, "Like seriously, tell me what's going on in your head right now? Why are you asking such questions, even if they are just 'hypothetical'!"
"I was wondering if the things I do in the name of 'love' are worth it or not... I just wanted to see if you'd want to give up something you love for me," she said.
"Isabella... What's wrong with you?" I said, "This is my identity. I'm a public figure... I'm the face of this country. I just can't give it up."
"I'm just questioning my identity right now," she said.
"And why are you questioning it after we got engaged?" I said.
Yeah, I wasn't supposed to get angry, but she wasn't making it easy for me!
"Maybe that's the trigger," she said as she played with her ring, "Nobody gets engaged at Twenty three. And here I am... Engaged to a king and the whole world is watching me!"
I wasn't sure how to react to that.
I thought she was happy that we were engaged.
Had I made a mistake by rushing for this engagement?
Should I have given her more time?
"I don't think you're in the right state of mind right now," I said.
"Maybe," she said.
