A few minutes after they had made it out of Royalwoods Town, Lincoln, Clyde, Stella and their Pokémon Partners made it to the first Route of the Michigan Region.

"Man, look at this place." Lincoln said, looking around the area of grass and trees with a smile.

"Scor!" Scorbunny gasped in amazement.

"It would've been nice to get a tour of this place back at the Academy." Clyde admitted.

"Well, at least we're in Route 1 now." Stella replied. "That's the important thing."

"Vy." Snivy agreed.

"Good point." Clyde replied.

"Squirtle." Squirtle said casually.

"So, what do you want to do first?" Lincoln asked his friends. "Should we go find some wild Pokémon to catch or set up our tents so we can have something to eat?"

"You and Stella can go and look for some Pokémon to catch while me and Squirtle stay here to set up camp." Clyde answered. "Dr Lopez says it's best to take it slow on the start of your Journey."

"What doesn't Dr Lopez say?" Stella asked jokingly, earning a little giggle from Snivy.

"You know, I guess me and Stella can go search for some new Pokémon with our Partners." Lincoln said before turning to his female friend. "What do you say, Stella?"

"Sure thing, Lincoln. Snivy and I need some more teammates for when we enter our Contests." Stella replied.

"Great, then we'll be go looking for wild Pokémon together." Lincoln proclaimed with a smile. "You gonna be okay on your own, Clyde?"

"I won't be on my own. I'll have Squirtle to keep me company." Clyde said, gesturing to his Water type Starter.

"Squirtle Squirtle." Squirtle replied with a friendly smile.

"We can see that, Clyde." Stella admitted. "Do you at least know how to cook a meal?"

"Hey, I've taken lots of cooking lessons with my Nana." Clyde said, a little bit defensive. "I know everything about breakfast, lunch and dinner."

"I believe you, buddy. Your bakery always has a sweet flavour." Lincoln commented.

"Thanks, pal. Anyway, good luck with catching some Pokémon." Clyde told his two friends.

"We will. Ready, Stella?" Lincoln asked, smiling in enthusiasm.

"I sure am, Lincoln. Let's do this." Stella answered.

Scorbunny and Snivy spoke in their own excited words before leaping onto their Trainers' shoulders. Lincoln and Stella then raced into the tree-filled areas of Route One, leaving Clyde and Squirtle alone.

"Okay, let's get to work on setting up camp and making some lunch." Clyde said to Squirtle while taking his backpack off.

"Squirtle." Squirtle replied.

Lincoln and Stella kept rushing into the woodlands with Scorbunny and Snivy until they halted in a slightly open area where the sun was able to shine down on.

"Do you think we'll find some Pokémon here?" Stella asked.

"Possibly. Lori once told me that the first Route was homed to a wide amount of different Pokémon." Lincoln replied. "I just wonder which one I'll get as my first caught Pokémon."

"Same goes for me, Linc." Stella admitted.

Scorbunny and Snivy jumped down from their Trainers' shoulders to help them search for any other Pokémon. They began looking in certain places like the bushes or trees, but found nothing as the same results came with Lincoln and Stella.

"Dang it, how hard is it to find a single Pokémon in the first Route?" Lincoln questioned.

"This is nothing like those short videos we saw at the Academy." Stella said with a sigh.

"Scorbun." Scorbunny muttered.

"Snivy." Snivy added in disappointment.

But then, the four of them began hearing some chirps from above and they looked up to see a Pidgey flying over them.

"Hey, is that a Pidgey?" Stella asked.

"It sure looks like it." Lincoln answered before he brought out his Pokédex and scanned the Pidgey with it.

"Pidgey, the Tiny Bird Pokémon. A Normal and Flying type." Lincoln's Pokédex said. "It is docile and prefers to avoid conflict. If disturbed, however, it can ferociously strike back."

"You know what, Lincoln? I think you should have the honour of catching a Pokémon, first." Stella said kindly.

"Thanks, Stella. I'll definitely catch that Pidgey for my team." Lincoln replied before he turned to Scorbunny. "Are you ready for a fight, Scorbunny?"

"Scorbunny!" Scorbunny stated in determination.

Lincoln nodded before his Fire type Starter rushed forward and got into a fighting stance, preparing to face the wild Pidgey that was flying over them.

"Okay, what kind of moves can Scorbunny use?" Lincoln asked, taking out his Pokédex again.

"Quick Attack, Ember, Double Kick and Super Fang." The Pokédex informed.

"Those sound like some good moves. Let's try them out." Lincoln said, smiling in enthusiasm. "Scorbunny, use Quick Attack!"

Scorbunny got on his feet and hands and his body was surrounded by white energy before he sped forward with amazing speed, leaping up towards Pidgey to ram right into it. However, the wild Pidgey saw Scorbunny charging at him and it squawked in a hostile way, flapping it's wings and pushing Scorbunny back down with a powerful wind blow.

"It's using Gust!" Stella exclaimed while shielding her eyes from the wind.

Lincoln shouted nervously as Scorbunny was flying into his direction before the Fire type crashed into his face, making them both fall down. Seeing it's enemy defeated, Pidgey took this chance to fly away before they could recover. Stella quickly ran up to Lincoln and got on her knees, helping him up while Snivy did the same with Scorbunny.

"Lincoln, are you okay?" Stella asked in concern.

"Not really. I just took a big crash to my face and that Pidgey managed to escape." Lincoln groaned. "It was so humiliating."

"Scor." Scorbunny sighed with a disappointed frown.

"It's just like what Professor Ramirez told us at the Academy. If the Pokémon doesn't want to be caught, it'll fight back." Stella said.

"Dang, Lincoln, that was pretty bad to watch." A voice said from behind.

"That was a heck of a smack you took there, partner." A southern voice admitted.

"You sure you don't have a bruise?" A third and final voice asked.

When Lincoln and Stella turned around, they saw three boys who were their age standing behind them. An orange-haired boy with spots on his face, a ginger-haired farm boy with a buzzcut hairstyle, and a bespectacled redhead who was shorter than the other two. Beside them was a Charmander, a Totodile and a Treecko.

"Rusty! Liam! Zach!" Lincoln exclaimed with a happy smile.

"Oh my gosh, it's really you guys!" Stella remarked.

"Hey, Lincoln, Stella." Rusty greeted. "Glad to see you two have started your journey, as well."

"But, didn't you say that Clyde would be travelling with you guys?" Zach asked with a raised eyebrow.

"He is. He's just staying back at the main path to set up camp." Stella answered.

"Sounds good to me. I'm guessing the two of ya are trying to catch some Pokémon?" Liam questioned.

"Yeah, but you three already saw how my first attempt went." Lincoln replied with a sheepish smile, causing Scorbunny to nod in agreement.

"So, are these three the Pokémon you guys chose?" Stella asked, gesturing to Charmander, Totodile and Treecko.

"They sure are, Stella. I went with Treecko, Liam got Totodile and Zach decided to choose Charmander." Rusty answered.

"Treecko." Treecko said casually.

"Toto." Totodile greeted.

"Charmander Char." Charmander added.

"They definitely seem like cool Pokémon to me." Lincoln complemented.

"Not only that, but Rusty's already managed to get his first caught Pokémon." Zach admitted, smiling at his orange-haired friend.

"Really?" Stella asked in surprise. "That sure sounds a bit fast."

"It wasn't that hard. My second Pokémon is right in here." Rusty proclaimed, holding up a Pokeball.

"Dang it. You're so lucky to have already caught a Pokémon, Rusty." Lincoln said with an annoyed groan.

"It takes good skill to pull it off. Tell ya what, Lincoln, if you can manage to catch yourself a second Pokémon, the two of us can have our first Pokémon battle against each other." Rusty offered.

"Wait, you want to battle me?" Lincoln asked, surprised.

"I sure do. It'd be a good chance for us to warm up before we take on the first Gym." Rusty said with a confident smile.

"I think it's a good idea." Liam agreed.

"I'd like to see which one of you two is stronger." Zach said encouragingly.

"You should definitely find a Pokémon to catch and then battle Rusty, Linc." Stella told her friend.

"Well, I am wanting to have my first Pokémon battle as quickly as possible." Lincoln said before he fully stood up and smiled towards Rusty. "Okay, I'll find a second Pokémon and then we can battle."

"Scorbunny!" Scorbunny stated excitedly.

"Sweet. I'll be seeing you back here in a few minutes, then." Rusty replied.

"Sure thing. And I'll be winning my first battle." Lincoln said with a confident smile.

"Sorry, but that ain't gonna happen." Rusty told him, doing the same thing before he began to leave.

"Have a nice day, y'all." Liam said as he and Zach followed their friends.

"Try not to get any scars." Zach added.

Treecko, Totodile and Charmander said their own farewells as Scorbunny and Snivy waved back to the three Pokémon.

"Man, I really miss doing some great things with those three at the Academy." Lincoln told Stella.

"You said it, Lincoln. But right now, it's just the two of us, Clyde and our Partners." Stella replied.

"I know. So, how's about we start looking for a Pokémon for me to catch?" Lincoln suggested, rubbing his hands against each other.

"Are you sure you'll be able to do it before the end of the day?" Stella asked, feeling a bit uncertain. "That little Pidgey was able to beat you and Scorbunny within a second."

"That's only because I'm a beginner." Lincoln admitted with a shrug. "Scorbunny and I won't loose to the next wild Pokémon I find."

"Bunny." Scorbunny added.

"Well it's like my mom once told me, you just need to keep trying until you get it right." Stella commented. "I'll help you out in any way I can, Linc."

"Snivy vy." Snivy said with a smile.

"Thanks, Stella. You're a good friend." Lincoln replied kindly.

"Scorbun." Scorbunny agreed, smiling in a friendly way.

"That's what friends are for, Lincoln. Now, let's head deeper into the woods so we can find some more Pokémon." Stella said.

Lincoln nodded in response before the two of them headed into another part of Route One with their Pokémon Partners in tow.

(Linebreak)

Later on, Lincoln, Stella, Scorbunny and Snivy were in a tree-frilled part of the Route and they were still looking for any wild Pokémon.

"These Pokémon sure like to hide." Stella said with a slight frown.

"It's nearly impossible to find one. I just wish Rusty told us how he did it with ease." Lincoln added.

"We can do this our own way, Lincoln." Stella assured before she took off her backpack and reached into it. "Lucky for us, I've got a little plan for bringing wild Pokémon straight to us."

The Coordinator girl then brought out a small container and opened the lid to reveal some brown food-like objects inside.

"A container of Pokémon food?" Lincoln asked.

"Yeah. We just place these out in the open and their scent will lure out a Pokémon for us." Stella explained. "It's a very simple plan."

"Snivy." Snivy said, liking her Trainer's plan.

"If it means I'll be able to catch a Pokémon, then I'm okay with it." Lincoln shrugged with a smile.

"Scorbunny." Scorbunny said in agreement.

"Good. Okay, let's just leave this somewhere that's got an open space for you and Scorbunny to battle in." Stella said as she walked in front of a tree and placed the container of Pokémon food in front of it.

"Do we hide and wait, now?" Lincoln questioned.

"Isn't it obvious?" Stella asked rhetorically.

The two Trainers and they Pokémon hid inside a nearby bush and they peeked out of it to see if any wild Pokémon would show up to eat the Pokémon food.

"Scorbun." Scorbunny whispered, already beginning to feel bored.

"Stay quiet, Scorbunny." Lincoln instructed. "We don't want to scare away the Pokémon."

"Lincoln's right. The main thing we need to do now is be silent." Stella added.

A few seconds later, the four of them began hearing some noises from above the tree and crawling out of it was Weedle, which came down to the ground and saw the Pokémon food that Stella had placed down.

"There's a Pokémon." Stella whispered with a smile.

"Yeah, it's a Weedle." Lincoln said. "Just like the one Lily has back home."

The white haired boy brought out his Pokédex to look up Weedle's data, while the Bug/Poison type was busy eating the Pokémon food.

"Weedle, the Hairy Bug Pokémon. A Bug and Poison type." Lincoln's Pokédex said. "Weedle has an extremely acute sense of smell. It is capable of distinguishing it's favourite kinds of leaves from those it dislikes just by sniffing with it's big red nose."

"I'm sure Lily's Weedle would like to have a playmate." Lincoln admitted. "How's about we catch that one, Scorbunny?"

"Scor!" Scorbunny replied, smiling in confidence.

"Alright, let's do it!" Lincoln stated before he and Scorbunny jumped out the bush.

"Lincoln, you should have a plan!" Stella told him in concern.

"Snivy." Snivy sighed, facepalming herself.

When Lincoln and Scorbunny were out of their hiding spot, Weedle noticed them both and stopped eating the Pokémon food Stella had left out.

"Weed?" Weedle asked, tilting it's head in confusion.

"Alright, Scorbunny, use Ember!" Lincoln ordered.

Scorbunny inhaled a bunch of air and then fired a flaming orb from his mouth, blast Weedle into the tree.

"Alright! That's super effective!" Lincoln remarked, taking out an empty Pokeball from his bag. "Now, go-"

"WEEEEEEDLE!" Weedle cried out with a sad look on it's face, making it obvious that the Hairy Bug Pokémon was hurt in the inside by Scorbunny's attack.

"Uh… what was that?" Lincoln asked, shocked by Weedle's cry.

"I don't know, but I'm starting to get a bad feeling." Stella answered nervously while coming out of the bush with Snivy.

Just then, the group began to hear some buzzing noises and they got louder by the second, indicating that whatever was making them was getting closer.

"Scorbunny?" Scorbunny asked with a worried expression.

"I'm not sure what it is, Scorbunny. But it can't be good." Lincoln replied.

Before they knew it, a whole bunch of Beedrill flew over some trees behind Weedle and they were all glaring down at Lincoln and Scorbunny, who both had looks of fear on their faces.

"That's a whole lot of Beedrill." Stella muttered nervously. "Lincoln, you and Scorbunny should start running for your lives."

"You and Snivy are our friends, so you should also run for your lives." Lincoln whispered, which didn't put his Coordinator friend at ease one bit.

"Okay… RUN, LINCOLN!" Stella screamed in terror.

"SNIVY SNIVY!" Snivy yelled out.

"RIGHT!" Lincoln replied very loudly before all four of them ran away.

"SCORBUNNY!" Scorbunny cried fearfully.

The Beedrill swarm began flying straight after Lincoln, Stella and their Pokémon to make them pay for attacking their little Weedle friend, while the Hairy Bug Pokémon shouted happily for its evolved companions.

"They're right behind us!" Lincoln stated.

"Thanks for stating the obvious, Lincoln!" Stella retorted with an annoyed glare.

All the Beedrill began firing purple energy darts at their victims, causing the two Trainers and their partners to move around in order to avoid them.

"Don't let that Poison Sting hit you! It'll most likely get you poisoned!" Lincoln warned the others.

"Well, I'm not running from a bunch of angry Bug types, anymore!" Stella declared. "Snivy, use Leaf Tornado!"

"Snivy!" Snivy stated as she stopped in her tracks and glared at the Beedrill.

The Grass Snake Pokémon then started to spin around on her head and a huge green tornado that was full of leaves was formed on the tip of her tail.

"Okay, that's a pretty cool move." Lincoln complemented, ceasing his running to watch with Scorbunny.

"Scor!" Scorbunny said in awe.

"Give it to them, Snivy!" Stella called out.

"Vy!" Snivy yelled, launching her Leaf Tornado at the Beedrill swarm.

All the Beedrill tried to stop themselves from flying into the tornado, but it still managed to suck them in and all of the Bug/Poison types cried out as they were carried away by the Leaf Tornado.

"See you later, buzzers!" Stella shouted.

"Snivy Vy!" Snivy added with a victorious smile.

"Nice job, Stella." Lincoln complemented.

"Thanks, Linc. I just felt like me and Snivy needed to do something." Stella replied.

"I hear ya. But at this rate, I don't think I'm gonna catch a Pokémon until midnight." Lincoln said, sighing depressingly.

"Lincoln, you can't give up." Stella told him encouragingly. "Not everyone gets their first caught Pokémon on the first try, so you just need to keep trying until you've finally done it."

Lincoln felt inspired by his Coordinator friend's words and he smiled up at her.

"Thanks for that, Stella. You're a pretty good friend." Lincoln said kindly.

"Just like Clyde?" Stella asked with a chuckle.

"For sure." Lincoln answered.

Just then, Scorbunny's ears began twitching as he heard some sort of flapping noise nearby. He looked above to see a Tranquil flying around new them.

"Scor! Scorbunny!" Scorbunny stated while pointing at the Tranquil, causing the others to notice it.

"Hey, who's that Pokémon?" Stella asked.

Lincoln pulled out his Pokédex and scanned Tranquil for information.

"Tranquil, the Wild Pigeon Pokémon. A Normal and Flying type." Lincoln's Pokédex said. "It can return to it's Trainer's location regardless of the distance separating them."

"That's unexpected. I heard that Trainer's usually find Tranquil's pre-evolved form, Pidove, in large flocks on Route One." Stella admitted. "This one must've evolved on it's own."

"Yeah." Lincoln agreed before he formed a determined smile on his face, which Stella immediately saw.

"Lincoln, tell me you're not thinking about trying to capture that Tranquil." Stella said, a little concerned.

"I am thinking about that." Lincoln answered.

"But if that Tranquil evolved from a Pidove, it's got to have a high level!" Stella protested.

"True, but I have faith in Scorbunny." Lincoln replied, smiling down at his Fire type Starter. "This time, we're going to use all the skill we have to catch that Pokémon."

"Bunny!" Scorbunny agreed.

Tranquil heard them both and it looked down to see Lincoln and Scorbunny preparing to battle them.

"Tranq?" Tranquil asked confusingly.

"Alright, use Quick Attack!" Lincoln ordered.

Scorbunny then quickly ran up a tree with his Normal type attack and was successfully able to ram into Tranquil, making the Wild Pigeon Pokémon crash down while Scorbunny landed on his feet.

"Yes! It's a hit!" Lincoln remarked. "Good one, Scorbunny!"

However, Tranquil quickly recovered and it began flying above Scorbunny while squawking angrily at the Fire type Pokémon.

"I think you just made Tranquil mad." Stella said worriedly.

"Snivy." Snivy muttered.

Tranquil then flew towards Scorbunny at a ridiculous speed and struck him, making the Fire type crash against the floor with a painful groan.

"That was Aerial Ace!" Lincoln exclaimed.

"And from the looks of it, that was a critical hit!" Stella added. "Probably thanks to Tranquil's signature ability, Super Luck!"

Tranquil then flapped it's wings forward and fired a bunch of energy wind projectiles at Scorbunny.

"Now it's using Air Slash!" Stella warned.

"Quick! Counter it with Ember!" Lincoln ordered.

Scorbunny fired Ember and caused an explosion once it made contact with Tranquil's Air Slash. However, three of the wind projectiles flew out of the smoke and they blasted Scorbunny, causing even more damage to him.

"Scorbunny! Come on, you need to keep fighting!" Lincoln encouraged desperately. "We can't lose, now!"

Scorbunny groaned in a weak tone before he was able to stand back up and glare up at Tranquil.

"That's the spirit, buddy! Now, let's take down that Tranquil!" Lincoln stated.

"Scorbun!" Scorbunny replied with a confident grin.

"Quil!" Tranquil said in annoyance before it flew down for another Aerial Ace attack.

"Here it comes!" Stella called out.

"Jump up and dodge it, Scorbunny!" Lincoln ordered.

"Bun!" Scorbunny replied, jumping up and making Tranquil miss him.

Just then, Scorbunny landed right onto Tranquil's back and the Wild Pigeon Pokémon looked behind in shock.

"Wow! What a move!" Stella commented.

"This is our chance! Use Super Fang!" Lincoln ordered.

Scorbunny's front teeth glowed white and the Fire type Pokémon shouted out before sinking his teeth into Tranquil, making the Normal/Flying type cry out in pain.

"Finish it up with Ember!" Lincoln stated.

"Scorbunny!" Scorbunny said, leaping off Tranquil and then blasting it with his signature Fire type attack.

Feeling a lot of damage from both attacks, Tranquil crashed onto the ground and didn't snow any signs of attempting to get back up, which Lincoln saw as his opportunity.

"Okay, here goes nothing!" Lincoln announced as he brought out a Pokeball from his bag. "Pokeball, go!"

The white haired boy threw his Pokeball at Tranquil and it made contact, opening up and sucking the Wild Pigeon Pokémon in with a red beam. The Pokeball closed up and landed on the floor before shaking around a bit while it's front circle beeped red, causing Lincoln and Scorbunny to wait anxiously.

"Come on, come on. Please be caught." Lincoln muttered.

After a few more seconds of waiting… the Pokeball made a click sound and some stars shined above it. Tranquil had been caught. When Lincoln saw this, he smiled brightly and rushed towards Tranquil's Pokeball before picking it up.

"Yes! I did it!" Lincoln cheered happily. "I caught my second Pokémon!"

"Scorbun!" Scorbunny remarked, hopping onto Lincoln's arm and nuzzling with him.

Stella and Snivy let out sighs of relief, happy that things worked out in the end for their friends.

"I'm glad you managed to do it, Lincoln." Stella said.

"Sni." Snivy added in agreement.

"Thanks, Stella. And to think that the two of us were able to get this strong Pokémon on our team." Lincoln said, smiling at Tranquil's Pokeball.

"You can be happy about getting your first-caught Pokémon, later. Right now, you've got to have a Pokémon battle with Rusty." Stella reminded.

"You're right. I just need to get Scorbunny and Tranquill healed up, and then I'll be good to go." Lincoln replied, remembering how much damage his two Pokémon took.

"I can take care of that." Stella reassured before she brought out a pair of Super Potions from her backpack.

"Thanks, Stella." Lincoln said, with Scorbunny giving her his own kind words.

(Linebreak)

Later, Lincoln and Stella arrived back at where they were before and found that Rusty, Liam and Zach were waiting for them with their Partner Pokémon in their Pokeballs. Lincoln and Rusty stood on opposites sides while Stella, Liam and Zach were watching from the front.

"So, you managed to get yourself a second Pokémon?" Rusty asked.

"I sure did, Rusty! And now, I'm ready for our battle!" Lincoln stated, bringing our Tranquil's Pokeball.

"Glad to hear! Just so you know, I'm gonna beat you and your little team!" Rusty declared as he brought out his own Pokeball.

"We'll see!" Lincoln replied before he reeled his arm back. "Tranquil, I choose you!"

He threw his Pokeball and it opened up to reveal the Wild Pigeon Pokémon he recently caught.

"Tranquil!"

"So that's the Pokémon that Lincoln caught?" Zach asked, a bit impressed.

"I've seen a lot of Pidove, but not a single Tranquil." Liam admitted. "Lincoln's a lucky fella."

"Yeah, I just can't wait to see how those two do in battle." Stella replied.

"That's nice. I caught this Pokémon near a lake and it was easy with the type advantage I had." Rusty boasted. "Come out, Buizel!"

The orange-haired boy tosses his Pokeball and it opened up, revealing an orange otter-like Pokémon with a floatation ring around his neck and two sets of tails.

"Bui!"

Stella took out out Pokédex and scanned Buizel.

"Buizel, the Sea Weasel Pokémon. A Water type." Stella's Pokédex said. "It has a flotation sack that is like an inflatable collar. It floats in water with it's head out."

"That's a pretty cute Pokémon." Stella said with a smile.

"Tranquil and Buizel are pretty neutral in types, so it's possible for either of them to win this." Zach commented.

"We're going to have to wait and see who wins this." Stella replied.

"Are you ready to battle, Tranquil?" Lincoln asked with an enthusiastic smile.

"Tranquil!" Tranquil answered determinedly.

"Then use Aerial Ace!" Lincoln ordered.

Tranquil began to fly straight at Buizel with great speed.

"Aqua Jet!" Rusty ordered.

Buizel was then surrounded by powerful water and he shot himself towards Tranquil, causing a huge collision that sent both Pokémon back.

"Looks like they both caused damage." Liam told his friends.

"Yeah, but Tranquil's Ability gives him the chance of getting critical hits better." Stella explained.

"Now, use Razor Wind!" Lincoln ordered.

Tranquil then flapped his wings, launching a bunch of crescent-shaped projectiles at Buizel.

"Dodge it and then use Sonic Boom!" Rusty ordered.

Buizel slid across the ground and avoided Tranquil's Razor Wind before launching Sonic Boom from his tail.

"We've got a solution for that!" Lincoln replied with a smirk. "Tranquil, Double Team!"

Tranquil made a bunch of fake copies of himself and this caused Buizel's Sonic Boom to hit the wrong one, much to Rusty and his Water type's shock.

"What?! Are you kidding me?!" Rusty questioned.

"I can even tell which one is real." Zach said.

"Use Aerial Ace!" Lincoln called out.

"Tranquil!" Tranquil shouted before he and his Double Team copies flew straight at Buizel.

Buizel drastically began dodging all the Tranquils that flew at him, but the real Tranquil manages to hit him from behind and send him crashing back.

"Finish it up with Air Slash!" Lincoln ordered.

Tranquil launched Air Slash straight at Buizel and the Sea Weasel Pokémon could only look on it shock before he was struck by the Flying type attack, causing an explosion in his place.

"Buizel!" Rusty exclaimed.

When the dust settled, Buizel was shown laying on the ground with swirls on his eyes.

"Alright! That's a win for us!" Lincoln remarked. "Way to go, Tranquil!"

"Tranquil!" Tranquil replied victoriously.

"Alright! Lincoln and Tranquil defeated Buizel!" Stella cheered. "I knew those two could do it!"

"Snivy." Snivy said with a smile.

"Dang, and I thought Rusty's Buizel was gonna be the winner." Liam admitted with his arms crossed.

"Well Buizel didn't have the ability known as Super Luck, Liam." Zach replied.

"Thanks for trying, Buizel. Return, now." Rusty said, bringing Buizel back into his Pokeball.

"You're down one Pokémon, Rusty. What are you gonna to about it?" Lincoln asked, smiling confidently.

"I'm getting even the score! Treecko, you're up!" Rusty stated as he tossed his second Pokeball out.

The Pokeball opened up and the Grass type Starter Pokémon from the Hoenn Region appeared.

"Treecko!"

Stella once again got out her Pokédex, scanning for Treecko's data.

"Treecko, the Wood Gecko Pokémon. A Grass type." Stella's Pokédex said. "Treecko has small hooks on the bottom of it's feet that enable it to stick to vertical walls. It attacks by slamming foes it's thick tail."

"Ya think Lincoln's gonna stick with Tranquil?" Liam asked.

"Tranquil, return." Lincoln said before bringing Tranquil back into his Pokeball. "You already did a good job. Thank you."

After he placed Tranquil's Pokeball away, Lincoln took out the Pokeball containing his Partner.

"Scorbunny, I choose you!" Lincoln declared as he threw his Pokeball, making the Rabbit Pokémon pop out of it.

"Scorbun!"

"That makes sense. Scorbunny has more of an advantage since he hasn't taken any damage." Stella complemented.

"Just a heads up, my Treecko's no slouch in a battle! I'll prove it!" Rusty stated. "Use Quick Attack!"

Treecko charged at Scorbunny with great speed.

"You use Quick Attack as well, Scorbunny!" Lincoln ordered.

Scorbunny used the exact same attack and both Starter Pokémon were continuously bashing into each other with blazing speed.

"Ember!" Lincoln ordered.

"Bullet Seed!" Rusty ordered.

Scorbunny and Treecko fired both of their ranged attacks, causing an explosion that sent them skidding back to their Trainers.

"There's no way I'm gonna loose to Lincoln! Treecko, Mega Drain!" Rusty called out.

"Tree!" Treecko said before shooting a pair of green energy beams from his hands.

"Scorbunny, use Double Kick on the ground!" Lincoln ordered, much to the others' confusion.

Scorbunny jumped up a bit and then he slammed both his feet onto the ground, causing chunks Earth to launch themselves out and block Treecko's Mega Drain.

"Huh?!" Rusty asked with a look of disbelief.

"Now Quick Attack!" Lincoln ordered.

"Bunny!" Scorbunny replied, moving swiftly at Treecko and hitting him on the chest.

"Oh man! Not now!" Rusty said, panicking.

"Wrap this up with Ember, Scorbunny!" Lincoln called out determinedly.

As Scorbunny moved back to his Trainer, he fired a powerful fireball at Treecko and the Wood Gecko Pokémon's eyes widened in shock before he got hit by the super effective attack. Treecko crashed against the grassy surface and fainted on the spot.

"What?! I… I…" Rusty said as he dropped to his knees to shock.

"He just lost." Liam finished, slightly surprised.

"Alright! We won our first battle, now!" Lincoln cheered before he and Scorbunny embraced each other. "Great job, Scorbunny! You were absolutely amazing!"

"Scor!" Scorbunny said in happiness.

"Lincoln, Scorbunny and Tranquil were all amazing. They didn't loose a single fight." Stella said, smiling proudly.

"Snivy Sni." Snivy said with a nod of approval.

When Rusty returned Treecko to his Pokeball, he approached Lincoln and Scorbunny before giving them a friendly smile.

"Losing was totally bad to me, but I guess you two were cool." Rusty complemented, holding out his hand. "You've got some nice skills, Lincoln."

"Thanks, Rusty. But I've still got lots more training to do." Lincoln replied as he shook his hand.

"Chill out, Lincoln. I'm sure you're gonna become a super strong Trainer one day." Zach reassured. "You'll probably be able to beat your four sisters, too."

"I'll say. Hope you'll get all eight Gym Badges so the four of us can enter the Michigan League together." Liam added.

"Our first stop is Sonari City. I'm guessing you're going there, too?" Rusty questioned.

"I sure am. I'm gonna train hard for when I challenge the Gym Leader." Lincoln replied.

"Isn't the Gym Leader one of your sister's best friends?" Stella asked curiously.

"Yeah. Lucy's best friend, Haiku, is in charge of the Sonari Gym." Lincoln said. "But I'm sure I'll be able to beat her."

"Scorbunny." Scorbunny said.

"That's good to hear. Well, we'll be seeing you two later." Rusty told Lincoln and Stella as he and the other two boys began to walk away.

"So long, Lincoln and Stella!" Zach called out, waving to the two of them.

"Have a sweet journey, partners!" Liam added.

"Bye, guys! Hope to see you again soon!" Lincoln stated kindly as he and Stella waved to them.

"I wonder how many other friends we'll get to meet on our Journey?" Stella asked.

"We'll have to wait and see. Now that I have Tranquil on my team, I'm gonna keep catching some more Pokémon to build up my great team." Lincoln said, smiling in determination.

"Scorbunny, Scor!" Scorbunny stated enthusiastically.

"Right. And I'll be building up my Contest team, as well." Stella added.

"Snivy." Snivy replied softly.

But then, something was starting to pop up in Lincoln's mind as he felt like he had forgotten something, or someone.

"Hey, did we forget about someone else?" Lincoln asked.

"I don't know." Stella shrugged.

As they both kept on thinking, their eyes widened as they now remembered who they had forgotten about.

"Clyde!" Lincoln and Stella exclaimed in realisation.

"We left him and Squirtle behind!" Lincoln realised in worriedness.

"I hope those two are alright!" Stella stated, while Scorbunny and Snivy simply facepalmed themselves.

(Linebreak)

Speaking of Clyde and Squirtle, the two of them had deadpanned expressions on their faces as they both looked at a totally messed up tent, indicating they had a lot of trouble setting it up.

"Okay, tents are a lot harder to build when your two best friends leave you to catch some Pokémon." Clyde muttered.

"Squirtle." Squirtle said in agreement, knowing they would give Lincoln and Stella an earful once they got back with their Starters.
