Chapter 24

Author's note :I can't thank you enough my readers. This is an emotional one.

I read what I thought would make him laugh and smile. I had to sit down and explain to Elijah and Belinda in as much honesty as i could that their dad was being greatly affected by the chemo. And his up and down behavior was a side effect to that.

I only found out later from Belinda that she fell apart and trashed her room. She admitted that she was having a hard time dealing with all of this.

And I decided maybe having her talk to a therapist would help. Which it did.

I thought Elijah was dealing with everything better than I realized until I got a call saying that him and Brian had gotten into a fight.

I picked him up wanting him to explain himself.

But instead of that he just started to cry.

And I held him securely. Knowing all along that this had been brewing.

(I've got good news and bad news.) The doctor announced.

I took Lucas 's hand in mine.

(The surgery and chemo had a positive affect. But there was a spread and I recommend. Chemo again. Stronger than before but I think that is the best chance we have to get the results we want) The doctor explained.

(I say you can get treatment from home. I'll hire a whole team to get it done.)

(This is far from over. It's just beginning.) Brooke said.

Once they left the doctor's office.

(Is this the rest of my life? Treatments and mood swings. Being unable to do this and that. It just seems unfair to the kids. To you.) Lucas admitted.

(It'll all be worth it. When you're cancer free. I am willing to do anything it takes for that outcome.)

(We're partners in life and love. Let me carry some of this for you.) Brooke insisted.

Lucas leaned over kissing her gently.

Brooke kissed him back.

(Have you heard from Brian at all?) Lucas asked.

(I've been all over the place. Maybe he's called or come by and I missed it?) Lucas questioned.

Brooke swallowed hard. (I have but that's nothing for us to discuss right now.) Brooke replied.

(Let's get you home.) Brooke added in.
