At the center of town
Naruto bowed his his, "Goddess Demeter, I am madly in love with you!" He exclaimed.
For clear visual context, Naruto Uzumaki a level 4 adventurer of the Hestia Family, was standing in the middle of the street where the goddess Demeter is. Originally, Demeter along with a few other goddesses were hoping to find Hestia and learn more about Bell. Since Hestia had convinced the boy to go on a date with her. Despite her kind nature, Demeter really enjoyed teasing others despite how much of a good relationship she has with them.
Unknown to many people, Naruto was actually the true first adventurer who worked under Hestia. He had just been gone so long, people forgot about him until Bell arrived. Now it seems that Naruto was trying to save the date of his goddess by distracting the obnoxious sister of hers. Unfortunately, he had to say something outrageous enough to distract her and the goddesses that wanted to follow Hestia around.
Now, while it may seem inappropriate with the fact that Naruto is just a human and Demeter is a goddess. Especially a goddess from another familia regardless of her relationship with Hestia's. The only known recorded rule that's not allowed between gods and humans is that they cannot have children. So there's no direct rule about both entering a romantic relationship. Though it's unlikely that a sexual relationship is allowed and marriage is a whole other thing.
Now Demeter was shocked, "N-Naruto-kun?" she asked. "What are you saying? You should be careful, otherwise someone might get the wrong idea?" she asked with surprise in her voice.
Now the goddesses that were hiding were now focused onto Naruto and his confession. Which allowed Hestia to quickly rendezvous with Bell and move away as quickly as possible. The goddess would ask her familia member about the details of the aftermath of this mess later.
"I mean it goddess, it's not just admiration and respect. I just can't stop thinking about you Demeter-sama. You truly are the embodiment of a goddess." Naruto said while keeping his head bowed. "You grace, charity and compassion is second to none. Your outer beauty is reflected by your interior beauty. it's something I could never comprehend and no other god in Orario could ever compare to you." he explained.
Demeter blushed up a storm, "Naruto-kun, p-please don't praise me. I am just have a love for everyone." She said.
"That's not it goddess, we humans praise you for all you have given us and you have given so much more without demanding anything in return. My heart, it just aches, like an unreachable dream." Naruto said as he started crying tears.
Not from his "love" for Demeter, but because of how embarrassed he felt. Within two to twenty four hours, everyone in Orario is probably going to spread news of this "confession". Hestia is going to have a massive debt to pay for Naruto.
"Goddess Demeter, I know I'm unworthy as a human to be seen as your equal, but I just needed you to know. You deserve more, but it makes me sad that I cannot provide more." Naruto said.
Demeter sighed as she walked up to Naruto and raised his head. She smiled as she saw his tear stricken face, unaware that it's from embarrassment and not from some emotional outburst. For a goddess, Demeter isn't actually the most intelligent in her family. Luckily, she's not the stupidest one in it either. Ares deserves the title for the least intelligent.
"Naruto-kun, I am touched by your passion and proclamation. I never realized how close I am in your heart." Demeter said. "However, you deserve to be with someone else. Someone more free spirited to help you feel free or mature enough to take good care of you. You are a good boy and you've taken good care of Hestia before Bell-kun arrived. I know there's a woman waiting for you somewhere." she explained.
Everyone was in awe for how gentle and kind Demeter truly is. All the while Naruto felt ridiculous about what he was doing. If he had the right tools, he could have just set off a bunch of glitter bombs in the shape of landmines on the streets.
Demeter then hugged Naruto, "I love you too Naruto, but as if you were family. Like a nephew of sorts." she said before stroking the back of his head. "Now go on, clean yourself up and replace that sad face with a bright smile like you always do. Your eyes will recognize your true love when this pain subsides." he said.
'I will always be in pain, but for the wrong reasons.' Naruto thought as she let go. "Thank you goddess, I'm glad you heard that." He told her.
After Naruto left, Demeter suddenly looked serious as she looked around, "Where's Hestia?" she asked.
She suddenly remembered why she was here in the first place. Once again, Demeter was no idiot but she is no genius by a long shot. She didn't catch onto Naruto's plan.
With Naruto, a few minutes later
Naruto hit his head against a wooden table at the Hostess of Fertility. Seeing the boy looking depressed/annoyed, Ryuu Lion made her way to the table.
"How may I help you?" she asked.
"I'll have my usual." Naruto answered.
Ryuu started writing up the order, "What happened this time?" she asked.
"Hestia-sama owes me so much after this." Naruto answered.
"I thought you were in charge of your familia's funds." Ryuu said.
"This isn't about money." Naruto replied. "It doesn't matter, you'll hear it through the grapevine in a couple of hours. Unless someone decides to make it sound worse than it is." he said.
"I'll be back with your order." Ryuu said as she left.
All the while wondering what sort of gossip is about to spread. There is no doubt a few drunk customers would likely say it out loud.
"I've only been back for a couple of weeks. How did I get myself into this mess?" Naruto asked himself.
A couple of weeks earlier
Naruto panted as he made his way into Orario, "I didn't think I would be gone that long." he said as he started looking for his familia. "I swear, Hestia better still be alive." he said as he started making his way towards the abandoned church.
When a bloody guy ran past him. Naruto stopped and saw the guy just run without any care that he scared the locals. The bloody individual didn't stop once as he made his way into the guild.
"I'll ask Eina later." Naruto said as he tried to ignore the scene.
Eventually, Naruto arrived at the abandoned church where the Hestia family lives. Deep down, he was hoping his goddess is still in good health. Sure he left her a lot of money and supplies, but Hestia is terrible at handling money.
"This is going to be worse than the beginning of that novel isn't it?" Naruto asked out loud as he ran inside. "Goddess! Are you still alive!?" he asked.
Suddenly, a little door opened up and revealed Hestia. Hestia had a unique appearance, having dark hair, blue eyes and a white dress with blue ribbons around her body. She also had the appearance of a child along with a large ample chest.
"Hey Naruto, you're back! Where were you? You've been gone too long!" Hestia asked as she hugged her first adventurer.
"I can't even explain the craziness I've seen. Anyways, how are things here?" Naruto asked.
"Great! We now have a bigger familia!" Hestia said.
"Wow really? How many?" Naruto asked.
Hestia suddenly looked sheepish, "Um, it's not a lot." she answered.
"Anything is something goddess." Naruto said.
"Okay then, you'll meet him soon." Hestia said.
"Cool, I don't want to be overwhelmed with too many at once." Naruto said as he started hanging up his bags.
"Actually… just one." Hestia said.
"I'll be meeting just one?" Naruto asked. "Is everyone taking their vacation days?" he asked.
"No, you'll meet just one adventurer." Hestia answered, still appearing sheepish.
Naruto sighed, "That's fine I guess." he said.
"So, what was your journey like? Did you recruit anyone?" Hestia asked.
"I think I know a couple that might be interested." Naruto answered before thinking about his brief leave.
That afternoon
Hestia snickered as Naruto finished his last tale, "That was a weird ending." she said before hearing a voice.
"Goddess?" asked a voice from the outside.
"Bell-kun!" Hestia exclaims as she runs out.
Naruto sighed as he stepped out, "Might as well meet the guy." he said as he stepped out of Hestia's room.
There, Naruto somehow recognized the new adventurer. Somehow the older boy could recognize Hestia's new recruit despite how different he looks. However, Naruto's concern should be how overly attached his goddess is to the new guy.
"Bell-kun, meet Naruto! He was my first adventurer!" Hestia said as Bell ran up to Naruto.
"Nice to meet you senpai, I'm Bell Cranel!" Bell said as he extended his hand.
"Are you the guy who ran across the streets while covered in blood?" Naruto asked as Bell turned red from embarrassment.
"Wait, what is this about blood?" Hestia asked.
"Goddess, I can explain. I already got an earful from Eina-san about my mistake." Bell said.
"At least it sounds like Eina looks out for you." Naruto said.
A few minutes later
Naruto waited outside of the room as Hestia checked on Bell's stats. He didn't want to make the guy feel uncomfortable since it relied on Hestia placing a sheet of paper over Bell's back. Besides, it wasn't really a good idea to say something to offend the boy since he sounds so nice despite being new to adventuring. Naruto often had a tough time when he started out but he wasn't as soft hearted as Bell. So Naruto promised not to be harsh or mock any new adventurers that would someday join Hestia's Familia.
"I wonder what's taking so long." Naruto said as Hestia came outside.
"Bell-kun's a lot more agile!" Hestia said with a thumbs up.
"Cool, I used to get super durable when I started." Naruto replied.
Then Bell came out as well, "I still can't use magic and still no skills." he said.
"Don't beat yourself up about it. You'll get one eventually. Probably after a good few beatings, but the trick is fighting back." Naruto replied.
"I guess that makes sense." Bell said.
"Besides, we're teaming up tomorrow in the dungeon remember?" Naruto asked.
"Really?" Bell asked.
"Yeah, you think I was just going to abandon you?" Naruto asked.
"Then can you offer me some advice Naruto-san?" Bell eagerly asked.
"Definitely." Naruto said as Hestia smiled in the background.
All while crumpling up Bell's stat sheet, 'You do have a skill Bell-kun... all because of some other stupid girl.' Hestia thought, with a heavy amount of jealousy.
The next morning
Naruto loudly yawned as he walked down the street with Bell, "Nothing like getting back to the grind. The sun is now up, skies are blue, though this doesn't matter once we're inside." he said.
"I suppose so." Bell said before stopping and turning around.
"You felt that too?" Naruto asked.
"Excuse me, you dropped this." said a female's voice.
Naruto and Bell saw a cute silver haired waitress handing over a purple stone to Bell.
"Really? I guess I missed it." Bell said.
"You really need to keep those magic stones safe Bell. Rule Number 10, don't drop your valuables." Naruto said.
"Are you two adventurers?" the waitress curiously asked.
"Yes we are." Bell answered.
"So you're both going to the dungeon this early in the morning?" the waitress asked.
"Yeah, that's when all the good monsters come out." Naruto said jokingly.
As the three laughed at the joke, Bell's stomach growled loudly. Feeling awkward, Bell could only blush from embarrassment when the waitress suddenly gave Bell a small boxed up lunch.
"What? I can't accept this. At least not from a stranger." Bell said.
"You already screwed up by not having breakfast Bell. Rule Number 4, always eat breakfast." Naruto sad.
"He's right, you might get lethargic and pass out while in the dungeon." the waitress said in agreement.
"But won't you get in trouble for giving away free food?" Bell asked.
The waitress waved him off, "It's fine, besides I can always get something for myself to eat when the tavern opens up." she said.
"This doesn't feel right." Bell said.
"Okay, how about this? You can pay me back by eating here tonight." the waitress suggested.
Naruto nudged at Bell, "It's a good deal. I used to eat here before I left. I can even recommend you some good foods. That's unless Mama Mia isn't running the place anymore." he said.
"Oh she's still here." the waitress confirmed.
"Then this place is still good. Clear your schedule Bell, because I'm buying." Naruto said.
"That would make me really happy!" the waitress said cheerfully.
Bell smiled very awkwardly, "Okay, sure." he said.
Then Naruto spoke up again, "By the way, are you new here? It's been a while since I've been in town and eaten here." he said.
"I've been here for a little while now. My name is Syr by the way." the waitress answered.
Inside of the dungeon
Right now, Naruto was helping get Bell fit. Despite his higher level and experience, he thought it might be too intense to drag Bell to a lower level. So maybe dealing with a few goblins and kobolds would be nice. The white haired boy didn't seem to have too many issues with the canine men.
"Don't just focus on the fangs and claws Bell. Worry about avoiding them, but not where they're going." Naruto said before Bell hit the ground. "Damn." he said before surprising the kobold with a tackle.
Not even thinking twice, Naruto stabbed the beast in the throat. Before Bell could thank him for the assist, Naruto threw the kunai at the throat of another kobold that was running up.
"It's stunned, you can attack it from here." Naruto said.
"Right!" Bell said as he quickly slashed at the kobold while it was paralyzed.
"You know, it's too bad you don't have any magic yet. You could learn how to make Shadow Clones or something equivalent like me." Naruto said.
"Shadow Clones?" Bell asked.
"They're my trademark ability. I can make lots of copies of myself that are solid and can fight by my side." Naruto explained. "The downside is they only know what I know, but at least they can share information. So it's great for scouting." he said.
That's when many more kobolds started to pop out of the walls. Naruto smirked as he formed a seal with his hands. Where Bell was introduced to Naruto's trademark technique as he found four Naruto's standing in front of him and charging at the Kobolds.
"Still, I don't gain strength that way and I'm here to teach you what you can learn." Naruto said. "You're still motivated to keep fighting right?" he asked.
Bell nodded as images of Aiz Wallenstien appeared in his head, "Exactly!" he said while still thinking of the girl.
"Go for the knees! No matter the moment, go for the knees!" Naruto shouted.
"Okay!" Bell shouted back as he slashed at the knee of a Kobold.
"Go for the neck, only if you can reach it!" Naruto commanded.
"Right!" Bell said, without much hesitation.
The wave of kobolds quickly died down with Naruto making sure that Bell didn't overexert himself. As well as covering him from the large number of wolf monsters. Though it did get tricky when things seemed tough and Bell just wanted to run.
"Don't you dare run away!" Naruto shouted as he chased after Bell.
"I think we've done enough for today, Naruto-san!" Bell exclaimed.
"We've been here for less than an hour! That's not enough!" Naruto yelled as he tackled Bell down. "By the time I'm done with you, you'll be a level 2 by this weekend." he said before dragging Bell back.
Later that evening, the guild
After a long day of training Bell to fight monsters around his level. The boys arrived at the guild with a bigger pile of magic stones. Of course, this was a bit of a surprise for the guild staff who only saw Bell as Naruto turned his head away from the staff.
"That's 15,880 valis sir." the teller said.
"Wow, that's a lot of money." Bell said with surprise.
"You only need a couple hundred for a good meal at the bar." Naruto said, without looking at Bell.
Bell smiled, "I think Goddess Hestia will be so proud." He said.
"You can tell her whatever you want, but don't give her any money Bell." Naruto said, shocking Bell as a result. "I'll handle giving her an allowance. Hestia-sama is terrible at money management." he said.
"Are you sure?" Bell asked.
"Very sure." Naruto answered.
That's when they heard a familiar voice, "I didn't see you come in Bell." Eina said.
"Eina-san, I made lots of progress today." Bell said like an excited child.
"Did you now?" Eina asked as she approached him.
"That's right, my senpai." Bell said as he gestured to Naruto who turned around.
"Hey Eina!" Naruto said with the wave of his hand.
Eina looked taken aback, "N-Naruto?" she asked, the surprise in her voice matching her face.
"You miss me?" Naruto asked.
"Not exactly…" Eina tried to say.
Naruto grabbed Bell's shoulder and turned around, "Let's go, we're not wanted here." he said.
"Hey, that's not what I meant!" Eina said, having fumbled with her words.
In Eina's Office
Eina looked at Naruto strangely, "I see, so how long are you staying?" she asked.
Naruto whispered into Bell's ear, "She's so shocked that I'm back, she already wants me to leave." He said.
"I am not saying that!" Eina exclaimed.
"I'm staying for good Eina. Unless an emergency pops up or Orario burns to the ground." Naruto said.
Eina sighed, "Okay, that's good to hear I suppose." she said.
"She's saying that because she has to be nice." Naruto whispered to Bell.
"Stop saying things like that!" Eina exclaimed. She then took a minute to compose herself, "Anyways, is it safe to assume that you're here to motivate Bell?" she asked.
Naruto placed a hand on Bell's shoulder, "That is absolutely correct. Bell is just like me when I was his age… except I didn't cower and run unless it was a minotaur or something bigger." he explained.
"So you're training him. That is good to hear." Eina said with a nod.
"And I'll keep training him and before you complain. I'll take it slow. We're not running headfirst like I used to do." Naruto said. "In fact, we're going to see Hestia-sama right after this to see how much Bell here has improved." he added.
Bell smiled, "Yeah, I can't wait to see my status change." he said.
Eina smiled at how motivated Bell appeared. She only hoped that Bell's senior wouldn't get him injured as she felt fond of the younger boy. Though she doubts that Naruto is anything like Bell considering his past.
With Hestia
Naruto sat outside waiting for Hestia to finish checking on Bell's levels. From what he already knows, Bell has no capacity for magic at the moment and Bell has only been improving his agility in the past weeks he's been here. The kid isn't even a level two adventurer yet.
'Don't set high expectations on him. He's not like you, he's a softer guy.' Naruto thought as he didn't want his excitement of having a junior be the reason for Bell's downfall. That's when Hestia came out, "How is he?" he asked.
Hestia sighed, "He's stronger but…"
"What? Still no magic power?" Naruto asked.
"That's not the issue." Hestia answered.
"Then what?" Naruto asked.
Hestia sighed as she whispered into Naruto's ear. Naruto had a hard time understanding what Hestia was concerned about as she told Naruto that Bell had a unique skill called, Liaris Freese. Naruto was then impressed to hear about the ability of the skill, but was immediately horrified by what caused it. It sounded sweet sure, but it wasn't because Hestia was jealous and angry that Bell was in love with a girl that isn't her. Naruto was horrified because Bell was committing the same mistake Naruto did when he was young and chased around a lousy pink haired girl.
The girl was cute at the time, but she had a hideous negative personality. One that took Naruto a long time to get over and learn better.
"Hestia-sama, I'm going to go outside." Naruto said as he stomped outside.
"You want me to prep your War Suit?" Hestia asked.
"No! It isn't worth it!" Naruto shouted as he stomped outside.
Hestia sighed, "At least Naruto understands how I feel… okay he understands but doesn't like it for the wrong reasons. Still, Bell-kun has a great chance of becoming the strongest in Orario." she said with optimism.
"MY KOHAI IS A SIMP!" Naruto roared into the air.
Hestia crossed her arms, "Yeah he is, but for the wrong girl." she said with annoyance. 'Bell-kun doesn't have to be a simp, but if he's going to focus on a lady. That lady should be me!' she thought.
Later that night
At the Hostess of Fertility, the two adventurers went to the restaurant as Syr had asked. Both were greeted by the sweet girl and lead to the front of the bar area. Right where Mia Grand, the manager, was working and taking orders. As the boys were making their orders and Bell started to feel anxious about the high prices. Mia placed a big plate of food for the both of them.
"You two will need the strength in the upcoming days." Mia said optimistically.
"This looks a bit much." Bell said nervously.
"Eat your fill Bell. There's no use in eating small portions and passing out later." Naruto said.
"But it's a bit… pricey." Bell said, whispering the last word.
"Bell, a relative of mine once said… no wait, this is a bad one. She was a bad gambler." Naruto said awkwardly. "Let me try again… another relative once said, don't watch your money. Watch your health." he said recovering from his last statement.
"I see." Bell said.
"And while they were watching their health, someone stole their money. Okay, maybe that advice was worse." Naruto said, feeling awkward again.
Bell sweat dropped, "I think I know what you mean. Is it to, just eat and forget everything else?" he asked.
Naruto chuckled, "That was it! Enjoy life and don't stress about the small things!" he said as he started eating.
As the two dug into their meals. The Loki familia came into the restaurant, Ais Wallenstein was with them. Bell tried to discreetly look over his shoulder and look at Ais who did not notice him or possibly didn't care enough to notice him. Bell watched them between eating his meal while Naruto didn't glance away from his dinner. In a place filled with drunk people trying to laugh and banter all night, Naruto didn't notice anyone saying anything specific or notice Bell's reactions.
For Bell had overheard Bete Loga, one of the strongest members in Loki's familia, openly mocking Bell. The man was drunk and having a good time talking trash about Bell for being weak.
"And here comes the Sword Princess, saving his ass from a minotaur. That weakling was running covered in blood like a lunatic, ha!" Bete laughed. "A pathetic wimp like him doesn't deserve a woman like her by his side, haha!" he continued to laugh.
"The heck is going on?" Naruto asked as he heard some of Bete's words. That's when Bell left his seat and ran outside, "Hey! Is something the matter?" he asked.
Bell had long left the restaurant, likely feeling distraught and pathetic. Bete's words cut deeper than any sword to Bell. Naruto stood up from his seat and peaked outside, wondering if Bell needed some fresh air. However, that's when Naruto became very sure that his kohai was nowhere to be seen.
"Damn it." Naruto cursed as he went back to his seat. "I'm gonna need these for to go." He said as he reached for his money.
"Is your friend okay, Naruto?" Mia asked.
"Far from it. I think something is up with him." Naruto said as he paid for the bill. "Thanks for the meal, mama Mia! I'll be back some other time!" he said as Mia gave him the food after taking the money.
As Naruto ran out to look for Bell, Ais was also looking out the doorway as well. With that same emotionless expression still plastered on her face.
A while later, the church
Hestia was sitting at the top of the roof on and thinking to herself about Bell. Not just as someone she has feelings for, but as the second person to ever join her familia. It's not that she hated Naruto even with the ups and downs they faced in his younger years. Though she remembers Naruto being younger than Bell when she first met him, but he was filled with so much optimism despite how rundown Hestia's familia is.
Still, like Bell, Naruto overlooked that. As for Bell, Hestia still had great hopes for Bell despite how weak he seems. Of course, it still bothered her that Bell had an attraction for Ais Wallenstien and it wasn't because she was a part of Loki's familia. Hestia can ignore that it's Loki of all people since their hatred/rivalry is more of a long running gag. Maybe Hestia was possessive or maybe she felt jealous that she wasn't able to push Bell into getting stronger or maybe she's scared that Bell is going to get his heart broken.
"Naruto does have a good reason to have a thing against men being simps." Hestia said, remembering that the boy used to have a crush on a toxic girl. "I shouldn't worry, Bell-kun is still young and inexperienced." She added.
That's when Naruto arrived, "Hey Hestia-sama." he called out.
"Naruto, how was dinner?" Hestia asked.
"It was good, I also brought something for you too." Naruto said.
"Aw, I have such a kind child. Where's Bell-kun by the way?" Hestia asked.
Naruto looked confused, "Isn't he here? He left pretty early." he said, remembering Bell running out of the restaurant earlier.
"No, where did he go?" Hestia asked.
"I thought he was here." Naruto answered.
"He not!" Hestia replied.
Naruto groaned, "Damn it Bell, I'm freaking duct taping you to my chest like a kangaroo when I find you!" he shouted as he prepared to run.
"Naruto wait! Leave the food behind! You'll accidentally drop it on the way!" Hestia shouted as Naruto paused and dropped off the food.
Dawn
Naruto would have flipped Orario upside down if he could and it was late at night. He slapped the side of his head as he felt stupid and anxious. His mind being as overloaded as a child when their bike is stolen or when they've lost their pet. Naruto could only think about places where he should find Bell instead of focusing on where he hasn't checked yet.
"Bell if you're dead, Hestia's going to be beyond depressed!" Naruto shouted into the air as he kept looking. "I swear, they better not have skinned him!" he said before running into someone.
"Hey Naruto!" yelled a familiar female voice.
Naruto turned to see a lovely young woman with dark hair in the middle of the road. She had an exotic set of purple armor that looked a lot like a dress and a bow on top of her hair. From the looks of things, she appeared to have faced a heavy amount of battle in recent time.
"Tohka?" Naruto asked with the girl nodding. "W-What happened to you? Did you have trouble getting to Orario?" he asked.
"Nope! The trip was fine, but where have you been? I've been waiting for you in the dungeon for a week." Tohka asked.
"The dungeon!? You were supposed go there after you join the familia!" Naruto replied.
Tohka looked confused, "I thought it was supposed to be an initiation or application thing. I tried asking in that place with girls in the suits, but they said I had to be in a familia first." she explained. "I thought you guys were living underground in a secret hideout or something." she said.
Naruto sighed, "Listen Tohka, I know I asked you to join my goddess' familia, but I'm pretty busy." he said as he looked around.
"Busy with what?" Tohka asked with a curious look on her face.
"I lost my kohai. I think he got lost after someone said some really mean things to him." Naruto answered.
Tohka looked angry, "That's terrible! I'll help you find him! Maybe this guy I found in the dungeon will help too!" she said as she revealed Bell in her hand.
"Bell!" Naruto shouted.
"You know him?" Tohka asked.
Naruto growled at Bell who looked barely awake, "Bell!" he yelled.
"Hey senpai, I was exploring the dungeon all night. I wanted to make you and Hestia-sama proud." Bell said.
Tohka looked emotional, "He's your kohai? He sounds so sweeet!" She said as she got teary eyed.
Naruto ignored the sentimentality, "No food for three days." he said.
"Eh?" Bell asked.
"Naruto that's cruel!" Tohka yelled as she looked horrified.
Bad time to mention this, but Tohka is a glutton despite being so short and thin.
At the church
After dragging Bell back home, Hestia immediately held onto him as if her life depended on it. Then there was the emotional exchange of Bell explaining what he was doing all night. With Hestia saying that she's always proud of Bell and that he's worthy of being in her familia. When that was done, Hestia looked at the new recruit.
"I'm Tohka Yatogami! Happy to meet you goddess!" Tohka said with a salute.
Hestia already dislike Tohka for being female. Because she already didn't like Aiz for taking away Bell's attention from her. Now she had to be concerned with another woman being here and possibly "seducing" Bell along the way. For that, a part of Hestia already became suspicious of her but she needed the numbers and Naruto isn't as foolish as when he was a child so she had to trust his reasoning.
"Where did you find her?" Hestia asked Naruto.
Naruto scratched his head as he explained, "It's hard to explain. I just found Tohka one day and she was super hostile, thinking that I was trying to kill her." He said with Tohka nodding. "She had no memory of anything, not even a name so I had to name her myself. Then one day, she started acting more relaxed." He finished.
"And then he gave me lots of tasty snacks!" Tohka said.
"We went our separate ways after I told her to check out the familia." Naruto added.
Hestia nodded, "Can I trust you Tohka-san?" she asked.
Tohka's face turned serious, "Yes you can! Naruto is my friend and any friend of his my friend too! Sometimes any snacks of my friends are mine too because I'm assuming you're all that friendly." she said.
'You're trying to guilt everyone into giving you food again, aren't you?' Naruto thought.
Hestia sighed, "Very well, I will graciously allow you into familia. Congratulations Tohka Yatogami!" She said. She then whispered to Naruto, "She better keep her distance from Bell-kun." she said.
"Unless Bell turns into a slice of cake, she'll just treat him like a roommate." Naruto whispered back.
"Can he really turn into cake?" Tohka asked in a whispery voice, joining the conversation.
Hestia and Naruto sweat dropped at the action.
"I'm gonna check on Bell-kun's progress. I'll give Tohka her own falna after that." Hestia said.
Later that day
Naruto brought Bell to apologize to Mama Mia, "What do you say?" he asked.
"I'm sorry for leaving midway." Bell said.
Mia sighed, "Naruto, you shouldn't force guilt on the poor boy. Besides, you already paid for his meal." she said.
"No Mama Mia, you taught me not only the importance of saving money but also showing courtesy." Naruto said.
"And I remember a time when you would get very emotional when someone said something about your or your goddess." Mama Mia countered.
Naruto groaned at how truthful Mama Mia is. Since he was the only member of Hestia's familia and was younger than Bell when he started. Naruto was a lot more short tempered like his birth mother. It was around that time that Mama Mia started acting like a surrogate mother of sorts. Being the one to teach him what Hestia couldn't as well as basic manners.
Rich or poor, Hestia is a slob and very lazy.
At the same time, Bell could only watch the exchange between the son figure and the mother figure. He smiled at how sweet it seemed and Bell wondered if this meant that Naruto would be his brother figure. Although he questions himself as to what that would make Tohka in this relationship.
"Excuse me, is this still the breakfast hour or can you serve lunch already?" Tohka asked Syr who passed by.
"I'll be with you in a second." Syr said as she walked up to Bell. Where she gave him a lunchbox, "Here you go Bell." she saied.
"Thank you Syr-san, I'm not costing you with these gifts am I?" Bell asked, hoping Syr isn't losing a part of her check by giving him free food.
"Don't fret about it. An adventurer like you needs all the energy you can get." Syr said.
"I would also like some energy!" Tohka said, wanting an excuse to eat.
Syr giggled, "Is she in your familia too?" she asked.
Bell nodded, "Yes, Tohka-san just joined us." he answered. "It's almost like we're growing with each day." he said.
That's when Naruto ended his talk with Mia, "That reminds me, we should restock on supplies. I know the best place to get you prepared." he told Bell.
Hephaestus' Shop
Bell looked at the shop with curious eyes, "It looks nice, but quite pricey." he said.
"I got you covered. Also, Tohka don't break anything." Naruto said.
"Why are you looking at me that way?" Tohka asked, looking offended.
"I just know how you are." Naruto said as they entered the shop.
From there, they were greeted by a young woman with her hair tied into buns and Chinese style attire.
"Hey Naruto, you're back in town?" the girl greeted.
"Yeah, I was on a long soul searching mission. Then I realized my soul is still attached to me." Naruto replied.
The girl gave him a blank stare, "That's not funny." she said.
"Whatever, I'm here for a good reason. TenTen, Bell here is my kohai and I need to get him prepared for the dungeon." Naruto said.
TenTen went wide eyed as she pointed at Bell, "Wait, is this the guy who was running down the street while covered in blood?" she asked.
Bell chuckled nervously as a response. Naruto sighed as he realized that he need to work harder with Bell so people can forget about that screw up. This is exactly the kind of punishment men receive for being simps. Naruto learned that the hard way.
"It was the blood of his enemies." Naruto answered.
"Eh?" Bell asked.
"But you know what TenTen? Deep down, Bell is very irritable and easily angered and that very day. He was angry. Do you know why?" Naruto asked.
TenTen sighed before asking, "Why?"
"Because someone stole his kill and the blood stains are his sign of shame! Shame TenTen! Bell found himself unworthy of being purified! Shame!" Naruto cried out.
Bell looked scared, "That's not why! I don't feel shame!' he said.
TenTen already had enough of this crazy story, "Okay! Okay! I understand! So lower your voice!" she said. "Okay, what do you need?" she asked.
Naruto then looked at his junior, "Bell, go look at everything but don't touch it unless you want to buy it." he said.
"Um, okay…" Bell said as he went looking.
"Hey Bell, this looks like it could fit you." Tohka said as she pointed at a giant broadsword.
Bell paled, "I don't think I have the grip strength for it." he said.
"He's not gonna make it." TenTen commented.
"That's what hey said about people like me and Lee." Naruto countered. "Better yet, Lee doesn't have that many unique skills and his magic is almost non-existent." he added.
"Okay, maybe the kid has a chance." TenTen relented.
As Bell looked at the various weapons with Tohka suggesting some that looked out of Bell's league. Naruto decided to ask about something unrelated.
"So, is Hephaestus-sama not in today or…"
TenTen started laughing at his question.
"Stop laughing!" Naruto yelled.
TenTen knew very well that Naruto had a crush on Hephaestus. Though what she didn't know is Naruto is one of the few that saw her inner beauty as well and ignored the deformity that the goddess hid behind her eyepatch.
Later that afternoon, Church
The group came back after a quick run in the dungeon. Nothing too extreme but just a good test of getting everyone to better understand their skills. Along with working out a plan to formulate some team work drills. Unlike a teacher that Naruto had in the past, the boy knew better than to force friendships despite how well Bell and Tohka were getting along. The last thing he needed was to make those two feel cramped or awkward if they can't adjust to their own abilities.
With that done, Bell and Tohka checked to see their current progress from today's dungeon raid. Only for Bell to come out looking confused.
"Hestia-sama didn't show me my results." Bell said.
"She showed me mine, why not yours?" Tohka asked.
"I don't know, the goddess said I'm improving a lot faster now but didn't say anything else." Bell answered.
Naruto had an idea why, 'Is it the Liaris Freese that she mentioned the other day ago?' he wondered. "Maybe it's your new sense of determination. I bet it's a matter of mind over body." he said, unsure if he should tell Bell the truth.
"You think?" Bell asked.
"I know." Naruto lied.
Before they could further question him, Hestia came out of her room wearing a more formal attire. With a nice periwinkle dress and white heels, giving Hestia a more lovely look.
"Oh my, Hestia-sama are you going to a fancy dinner?" Tohka asked.
"A banquet of the gods." Hestia answered.
"Then what are we waiting for?" Tohka asked as she suddenly appeared in a dress.
Once again, her mindset is revolving around delicious food. However, Hestia had to crush her fantasies.
"A banquet for the gods is for the gods only." Hestia said, causing Tohka to be depressed. "I'll stuff my purse with lots of shrimp. It's got a special seal that makes the purse nearly infinite in storage." she whispered.
Tohka nodded, "You are an amazing goddess." she said as she cried anime tears.
"Anyways, take care of yourselves and don't destroy the place. Bye!" Hestia said.
Bell nodded, "Enjoy your night, goddess!" he said.
"Thank you Bell-kun!" Hestia said as she left.
After Hestia left, the adventurers stared at each other in silence. At least until they heard Tohka's stomach rumble.
"To the Hostess of Fertility!" Naruto said.
"Yay!" Tohka said.
"I'll finish my dinner this time!" Bell said.
The next morning
Once again, Naruto is alone because he has no idea where Hestia went to, Bell went off on a date or something and Tohka… is hopefully not lost and causing a scene. The group settled on taking the day off today from fighting. It's not like he expected his new teammates to hang out with him all of the time, but he didn't have much to do on his own anyways.
"Well if it isn't Naruto Uzumaki." Said a familiar voice.
"Leave me alone." Naruto said with a groan.
"Aw, is that a way to speak with your old teacher?" the familiar voice asked.
Naruto turned his head to find a familiar man with silver hair, a face mask that covered his mouth and nose, and carried an orange book around. This man is Kakashi Hatake, he was a prodigy as a child and the son of the adventurer known as "The White Fang" and has also been taught by Naruto's father, Minato. Naruto used to think Kakashi was cool but like his father, Naruto viewed Kakashi as a weirdo.
"Pardon my poor manners, hello Fake Gojo." Naruto greeted dryly.
"See? I knew you missed… what did you call me?" Kakashi asked.
Naruto snorted, "Fake Gojo." he repeated.
"That is not funny Naruto." Kakashi said.
"I'm not the one pretending to be the coolest guy in Orario." Naruto replied with a smirk.
Naruto referred to another adventurer by the name of Satoru Gojo. Kakashi didn't hate him or anything, but he did feel like everyone liked Gojo better. Maybe it was because he was younger and more fresh. It could also possibly be that despite his cool appearance and unique set of skills, Kakashi hardly has anything interesting about his personality. While Kakashi is also capable of training someone, Gojo does a more hands on approach and is more frequently active when taking on an apprentice.
This is why Naruto respects Gojo more. That and it's funny that Satoru Gojo is a silver haired man who also has unique eyes like Kakashi.
"Naruto, I am still the coolest guy in Orario." Kakashi said.
Naruto shook his head, "Nope, Real Gojo is the cool guy. Don't worry Fake Gojo, someone will recognize you." he said.
Kakashi ignored the jabs at him, "So, how long have you been in Orario?" he asked.
"Like a week, I found out Hestia-sama finally got us a new adventurer." Naruto answered. "I also went recruiting while I was on my trip." he said.
"And how has that gone?" Kakashi asked.
"Well one of them found me, so hopefully the other two are on their way soon. Besides, you'll know when the familia starts reaching the top." Naruto answered.
Kakashi chuckled in response, "You sound like your mother." he said, remembering Kushina's optimism. "Don't you think you're being a bit overconfident?" he asked.
"It's not like we're going to challenge one of the upper tier familias like Loki or Freya." Naruto replied as he looked towards the tower. "Except we're not backing down from a challenge or any threats." he added.
"Well good for you Naruto. I hope I'll see your strength soon." Kakashi said.
"We'll you're from the pervert familia. So you'll know soon." Naruto responded.
"That's mean a thing to say. You should respect Hermes-sama, he's quite an honorable man." Kakashi said.
Naruto scoffed, "Kakashi, I know Hermes-sama's personality. It's a good thing he hasn't run into Bell, otherwise he would… I rather not think about it." he said.
As the two continued to talk, they heard some kind of explosion in the distance. Feeling curious, Kakashi and Naruto walked towards the sound thinking some carriage or wagon broke down. However, the two adventurers were surprised by the sight of monsters suddenly appearing and running around terrorizing the civilians.
"How did these things get loose?" Naruto asked.
Kakashi looked around before noticing the stadium, "Ganesha-sama was holding an event, they must have somehow gotten loose." he said.
"I guess you'll see my new strength, fake Gojo." Naruto said before dashing towards the monsters.
"Stop calling me that!" Kakashi said as he chased after Naruto.
As the two reached the open road, they found several toad like monsters hopping around and tearing up outdoor furniture. Along with a few civilians struggling to get past them. For the toads kept trying to capture people with their tongues.
"Jiraiya-sama is going to get mad when he hears about this." Kakashi said.
"The pervert's opinion doesn't matter right now. Besides, these are Frog Shooters, not actual toads" Naruto said as he avoided a tongue aimed for his head.
Kakashi nodded as he avoided several tongue strikes before slamming his palms onto the ground. Which generated a wall of stone to block the frog shooters from moving further into the town. Naruto ran over the wall wall and charged up a ball of energy into his palm.
"Rasengan!" Naruto yelled as he slammed his technique into the head of a frog.
After the impact, the frog died and left behind a magic stone. Using that as a confirmation of death, Naruto continued his attack by throwing several shurikens at the frog monsters. Most of the bladed projectiles merely embedded themselves into the flesh of the frogs, leaving the frogs hurt but not slowed down in any way. Although this did serve as a fairly good distraction as Kakashi climbed over his own stone wall.
"Fire Dragon Missile!" Kakashi yelled as he engulfed several frog in a blaze of fire.
However, one survived the attack and launched it's tongue at Kakashi. Kakashi avoided the attack, but was surprised to see a windmill shuriken stabbing the tongue, pinning it into the road. He looked back and saw Naruto still had two more on hand before dashing towards the frog who struggled to free it's tongue.
"Take this ugly! Rasengan!" Naruto yelled as he killed the frog.
Once done, the road seemed to be clear. However, Kakashi knew from experience to never trust silence. Especially when a battle appeared to be over.
"Hey sensei, how many monsters do you think Ganesha-sama kept in there?" Naruto asked. He then interrupted Kakashi before getting an answer, "Scratch that, how many does Ganesha-sama have under perfect lock and key?" he asked.
Of course, Kakashi was right to not trust the silence. Because he heard more screaming and various noises in the distance. As Kakashi and Naruto ran up the road towards the stadium, they several needle rabbits heading their way.
"Get ready!" Kakashi yelled.
"Air Bullet!" Naruto yelled as he sent a few needle rabbits flying.
Naruto then grabbed his spare demon windmill shuriken and started killing more of the monsters. Whereas Kakashi continued to erect barriers of earth to keep the monsters quarantined. However, things weren't looking good as the monsters continued to ravage Orario.
"Where are the adventurers when you need?" Naruto asked.
"Attention all adventurers! Attention all adventurers! All adventurers of all levels and familias are requested to meet at the main square to eliminate escaping monsters!" A voice on the intercom announced.
"There's your answer." Kakashi said.
"Thank the guild and Eina." Naruto said.
"Aw, do you like Eina?" Kakashi teased.
Naruto shrugged, "Girls with glasses are pretty and smart too." he said before dodging an attack from a needle rabbit. "Mom said to marry a girl like her, but she said a smart girl who can watch over me is also good." he said before stabbing the needle rabbit with a windmill shuriken.
"That does sound like Kushina." Kakashi said as he stabbed a needle rabbit in the head. "I guess this means girls like Asfi won't work for you." he said.
"The blue haired lady? I'm pretty sure Hermes likes her." Naruto said before orcs started rushing towards them. "Also, I want a girlfriend that's mature but… hey why am I telling you this!? You're love life is non-existent!" he said.
"So mean." Kakashi said.
"I'm not mean, I'm honest." Naruto replied.
"Mean and honest, just like Kushina." Kakashi replied before charging his hand with electricity. "Chidori!" he yelled as he thrusted his palm through an orc's chest.
"I wonder where Bell is among this mess." Naruto said.
At the same time, with Bell
Bell didn't expect himself being taken on a sudden date with Hestia or being gifted with a beautiful engraved knife from her. That and sitting down on the grass while eating crapes is also a surprise. Today was full of delightful surprises and then it became a day of unwanted surprises because a silverback escaped the arena and started chasing Bell and his goddess. So once he made sure Hestia was in a secure place while he distracted the strong monster.
All Bell could dow as run and hide from the Silverback as it was too much for him. Bell wanted to fight but his strikes felt too weak to wound the massive beast.
"It's okay Bell-kun." Hestia whispered.
Bell shook his head, "No it's not. I can't do it Hestia-sama." he said with doubt. "You gave me a beautiful gift and even it's not enough." he said.
Hestia hugged Bell's back, holding him tight as he fell into despair. Even if Bell was weak and a big wimp to everyone. Hestia believed in her adventurer and it wasn't because of the feelings she had for him or because of that skill he got from that "dumb blonde" from the Loki familia. Hestia had faith and even if the world is against them, she wouldn't give up on her adventurer.
"It's impossible Hestia-sama, Naruto should be here. He's a lot stronger, he wouldn't back down if people said anything mean about him and he could have beaten this monster on his own already." Bell said as he clutched his knife tightly. "Even Tohka would have an easier time than me." he said.
Hestia only tightened her hold, "Maybe they could do it Bell-kun, but not because you say so." she said, catching him off guard. "They could probably beat this monster, but only because they believe. So believe in yourself Bell-kun, believe in yourself and the knife." she whispered.
Whatever motivation power Hestia tried give Bell was already too late. As the Silverback smashed the crates that Bell was hiding behind and found them. Just as the giant ape was about to kill them, the silverback was hit in the face by a fist connected to an elongated arm. The punch was so powerful, that it caused the silverback to fall onto it's back.
Bell looked on with surprise as he saw a boy in a red shirt and blue shorts walking towards them. The boy's arm retracted back to normal length while at the same time, using his other arm to adjust a straw hat on his head. Bell watched as the boy just casually walked into the battlefield and stared at the silverback as if it were nothing.
"Well?" the boy asked as he turned to face Bell. "Are you gonna beat it or what?" he asked.
"Eh?" Bell asked.
"It's your fight. I respect dibs." the boy said.
Bell was shocked and a bit disappointed. He was hoping someone else would finish off the silverback, but Hestia had to motivate him. She slowly nudged her small arms into Bell's back and pushed him.
"Do it Bell-kun! Believe in the knife! Believe in yourself!" Hestia said as she forced Bell into the fight.
Bell couldn't find the energy to keep up the excuses in his mind. As the silverback recovered from the sudden intervention and rushed at Bell. Bell was forced to dodge the incoming attacks and land whatever strikes he could at the silverback. All Bell could do was slash at any opening he could find as the brute continued to swing at him.
Despite how small and pathetic this method felt, Bell started to adjust to this tactic. Before long, he started dealing more striking damage with his slashes and even started jumping over the silverback's punches. Before long, he could see an opening at the silverback's throat as well as hearing Hestia cheering him on from a distance.
"This guy is slow." the boy commented. "But he seems to get the hang of it." he added.
'Kami-sama believes in me, so why can't I believe in myself!?' Bell thought before jumping towards the silverback's throat.
With all the strength he could muster in the air, Bell slashed at the throat before landing. The land wasn't so easy as Bell felt a small strain on his body. That didn't stop the silverback from collapsing onto the ground before dissolving and becoming a giant magic stone.
"WOAH! YOU CAN TURN MONSTERS INTO ROCKS!?" the boy from earlier screamed.
Just as Bell had killed the silverback, a crowd had formed to witness Bell's feat. So it left every present adventurer, citizen and business owner looking at the new boy with wide eyes.
'Is he stupid?' everyone thought.
Bell answered the boy's question, "No, when a monster dies. They become magic stones and the size depends on the monster's strength." he explained.
The boy looked confused, "That's lame, you kill a monster and earn a shiny rock? Naruto said this place was fun." he said.
"You know Naruto-san?" Bell asked with surprise in his voice.
"Yeah, he told me to come here and join his familia. You know him too?" the boy asked.
Suddenly, Naruto appeared on top of the roof of a building with Kakashi by his side. There, he saw the giant magic stone along with the boy that saved Bell earlier.
"Bell? Luffy?" Naruto asked.
Luffy looked at the roof, "Hey Naruto! I was heading towards the dungeon but then I had to help this guy!" he yelled. "You didn't tell me that all we did was turn monsters into shiny rocks!" he added.
'He is an idiot.' Hestia thought.
That evening
The whole familia got together as they ate at the church. With Bell and Hestia thanking Luffy for briefly stepping in to save them.
"I just thought you were just not ready and that gorilla was taking a cheap shot. It wasn't anything big." Luffy said as he ate his meat.
Bell sweat dropped, "Thank you anyways, Luffy-san." he said.
Hestia then whispered over to Naruto, "Where did you find this guy?" she asked.
"In a barrel that he was sleeping in." Naruto answered.
"What?" Hestia asked.
"We live in an abandoned rundown church. You want me to judge some other guy's living arrangement?" Naruto asked back.
Hestia groaned, "Fine, but can you vouch for him?" she asked.
"Yeah, Luffy isn't a genius but he can throw down and fights for his friends." Naruto answered.
"Hey, that's my meat!" Luffy yelled.
"It's your meat if my hand was on it first!" Tohka yelled.
"It was gonna go in my mouth!" Luffy argued.
"That was my plan first!' Tohka yelled.
Naruto groaned, "Hold up guys, I got extra." He said, being well prepared. 'It's a good thing these two prefer meat over ramen.' he thought as he brought out more food.
"I see you guys love meat." Bell said.
"Yeah, you can't have a dinner without meat. Lunch and a lot of times, breakfast too." Luffy answered as he kept stuffing his face.
"Really? Why hasn't no one told me?" Tohka asked, liking Luffy's idea of when to eat meat.
"Is that a healthy living style?" Bell asked.
"You live the way you want Bell. Don't let people judge you." Naruto said as he also grabbed some meat. "Because when you question your belief, it's over! You forget who you are and become someone your not!" he said, wanting Bell to learn to love himself.
As well as to not judge others. Sometimes people are jerks and it's easy to want to insult them. Though that's when the lines get blurred.
"I'll take your word for it senpai." Bell said.
Hestia smiled as she saw her adventurers getting along. Her mind flashing back to when Hephaestus kicked her out of her home.
"HEY!" Luffy suddenly screamed. "How come no one is singing?" he asked.
"We have no music." Naruto answered.
"You don't need any music to sing, right?" Tohka asked.
Bell smiled sheepishly, "I don't think I have a good voice. I don't even know any songs." he said.
"Naruto, what have you been teaching this kid?" Luffy asked. "Does he at least know the best song for parties?" he asked.
Naruto snorted, "We can teach him right now. I don't think you know this song either, right Tohka?" he asked.
Tohka looked excited, "I wanna learn it!" she said.
"Okay then, it goes like this. So follow along because it ain't that hard." Naruto said as he cleared his throat.
Hestia laughed in the background as the boys began to sing.
Yo-ho-ho-ho, yo-ho-ho-ho!
Yo-ho-ho-ho, yo-ho-ho-ho!
Going to deliver Binks' Sake!
Following the sea breeze! Riding on the waves!
Far across the salty depths! The Merry evening sun!
The brids sing as they draw circles in the sky!
Hestia started to laugh as she grabbed onto Bell, "Come on Bell-kun, it's not that hard." she said.
"I think I need to practice." Bell said shyly.
"Nonsense! You're amazing at everything!" Hestia said.
"Hey, I think I heard of this one before!" Tohka said excitedly.
Farewell to the harbor. To my old hometown.

End of flashback
Naruto yawned as he made it back home. He walked in to check on Hestia to find her asleep along with Bell sleeping on the couch aside from her. Everyone else was enjoying dinner by themselves. Naruto sighed as he decided to let Hestia enjoy her sleep after having to avoid Demeter and the other goddesses from following her.
"I'll forgive her only for tonight." Naruto said as he prepared to leave the room. Only to see a scroll roll out from under Hestia's bed, "What's this?" he asked.
Going out to deliver Binks' sake!
We are pirates sailing through the sea!
The waves are our pillows, the ship our roost!
Flying the proud skull on our flags and our sails!
Naruto's eyes violently twitched as he read the contents of the document Hestia was hiding.
"Payment agreed on between Goddess Hestia and Goddess Hephaestus: 200 million Valis"
Now comes a storm through the far-off sky!
Now the waves are dancing, Beat upon the drums!
If you lose your nerve this breath could be your last!
But if you just hold, the morning sun will rise!
By now, Hestia started to stir awake and saw Naruto. Where she was immediately frightened by the scary aura that surrounded him. Hestia began to shake and was about to scream when Naruto proceeded to cover her mouth with his hand.
"We're having a long talk about you having making financial decisions by yourself." Naruto whispered as to not wake up Bell.
Hestia was mumbling something with Naruto's hand covering her mouth. Naruto narrowed his eyes as was still angry at Hestia.
"No, me confessing my love to Hephaestus isn't going to reduce your debt. Especially since everyone knows about what I had to do for you." Naruto said.
Yo-ho-ho-ho, yo-ho-ho-ho!

Hestia continued to say something but Naruto only look further annoyed.
