Naruto Uzumaki woke up in his apartment to the loud ringing of his alarm clock. Trying to turn it off, he promptly slapped the top, somehow succeeding in turning it off. Standing up, he rubbed his eyes, attempting to clear his vision. Looking over to the couch, he found a girl with blood-red hair deeply sleeping and drooling on her pillow. Walking over to her, he slowly shook the girl, attempting to wake her up.
"Oi, wake up sis. Today is our first day at the academy, so get up already."
The girl began to stir and slowly open her eyes.
"Is it really seven already, or are you just waking me up to torture me?" the girl asked tiredly.
"Come on, Natsumi, would I really choose today of all days to screw with you?" Naruto asked.
"Yes you would." Natsumi replied.
"Yes. yes I would. But this time, I didn't. Now c'mon we gotta get to the academy in half an hour."
"Fine, just get the toast started." Natsumi grumbled.
After getting up and eating their breakfast, both Naruto and Natsumi put on fresh clothes and left for the academy. Naruto was wearing a jet-black T-shirt with a dark red flame pattern accompanied by green pants and shinobi sandals. Natsumi was wearing a light gray T-shirt with a red swirl design on the back along with black shorts and a set of sandals identical to her brothers.
As the siblings approached the academy, they were met with glares from the civilians of the hidden leaf village. Both being used to the stares they were getting, they simply walked forward towards their destination. As they continued walking, the two started to hear the civilians whispering things.
"I heard those demons got put in the academy. What is the Hokage thinking?! They shouldn't even be in this village, much less next to our children!"
"Why are those two even allowed to learn? They should be executed for what they've done, not brought up like a real person."
Natsumi and Naruto hearing these statements just sighed. They did not know why they were hated and couldn't understand why. The only thing that truly separated them from the rest of the village were the three whisker-like lines on both of their faces and even so, many others had unique facial features so they could never piece it together. Once again, they just moved on, attempting to get away from the hate being directed at them.
When the two reached the academy, they entered the classroom only to be met by the hateful glaring they had escaped. The glare originated from a white-haired man wearing a chūnin vest at the front of the class. The twins quickly and quietly moved to the back of the class, sitting next to the window. A few minutes passed before another man wearing a chūnin vest with a scar across the bridge of his nose entered the room.
"Alright everyone, quiet down." the man announced.
Hearing the silence of the class, the man continued.
"I'm Iruka Umino, and for the next six years, I will be your class sensei. You will refer to me as either Umino-sensei or Iruka-sensei. This is my assistant, Mizuki Uragiru. Mizuki, if you would?"
"Hello class, as you have heard I'm Mizuki Uragiru, but you will refer to me as Mizuki-sensei. I will be assisting Iruka with teaching you these next six years and fully preparing you for what you will face during your lives as shinobi."
"Now then everyone I'd like each of you to give us a short introduction of yourself so that we can all get to know each other. I will call your names out, and when your name is called, stand up and give your introduction. When you are done, please take your seat again."
Many names were called out but only a few names stood out to Natsumi.
"Shino Aburame."
The boy quickly stood up and began speaking.
"My name is Aburame Shino, and I am of the Aburame clan. I enjoy studying bugs and training the bugs I use." As soon as the boy finished, he sat down as quickly as he stood up.
"Choji Akimichi." Iruka called out.
Once the name was called a plump boy with a bag of chips stood up.
"I'm Choji Akimichi. I like spending time with my friends and eating."
"Hinata Hyuga."
Surprising Natsumi, a girl she had not noticed right next to her, stood up.
"I-I'm Hinata H-Hyuga of the Hyuga clan. I e-enjoy gardening and p-playing with my baby sister."
"Kiba Inuzuka."
"I'm Kiba Inuzuka from the Inuzuka clan. I like training and playing with Akamaru!" He said, pointing to a tiny puppy sitting on top of his head.
"Shikamaru Nara."
"I'm Shikamaru Nara. Any more would be too troublesome." The boy said, never standing.
"Naruto Uzumaki."
'Please don't say something too stupid, Naruto.' Natsumi thought to herself
"My name's Naruto Uzumaki. I like hanging out with my sister, playing pranks, and eating ramen." Sitting down, Naruto had a small bead of sweat running down his cheek. 'I hope that was good enough for sis.' Naruto thought nervously.
Natsumi immediately breathed out a sigh of relief from her brother, not yelling about being Hokage.
"Natsumi Uzumaki."
"I'm Natsumi Uzumaki. I basically like the same stuff as my brother."
"Sasuke Uchiha"
"I'm Sasuke Uchiha of the famed Uchiha clan. I enjoy training with my family."
'Already he seems like he's gonna be an arrogant prick.' both Naruto and Natsumi thought.
"Ino Yamanaka."
"My name is Ino Yamanaka. I like flowers and I like to help at my family's shop when they let me."
"Alright, now that everyone has introduced themselves I'm going to go over what we'll be doing this year."
6 hours later
"Man, that was so boring! I thought I was gonna fall asleep during Iruka sensei's lecture." Naruto complained.
"Well, congratulations on the incredible feat of staying awake for all that." Natsumi replied sarcastically. "I'm pretty sure that Shikamaru guy did fall asleep."
"Whatever. Anyway, now that we're in the academy, I guess we should start training more. What should we start with?" Naruto asked, looking as if he was in deep thought.
"Maybe weapons practice? I don't think I plan on using anything but shuriken and kunai, but I should at least practice with what I plan on using."
"Sounds fun, but where can we get the stuff? No one likes selling anything to us, so I doubt they would let us buy weapons."
Natsumi put her hand to her chin, pondering the question from her brother.
"Maybe we could ask Gramps Hokage? Usually, he's willing to help us out."
"'Kay, then let's get going! It's been a while since we saw the old man anyway."
Hokage's office
Hiruzen Sarutobi was in his office dealing with one of the things he most hated about the Hokage position. Paperwork. As he was slowly filling out forms, he heard a knock at his door. Deciding a reprieve would do him good; he told whoever it was to enter. As the door swung open, Hiruzen was eagerly greeted by a very energetic blonde boy and a somewhat exasperated redhead.
"Ah Naruto, Natsumi, it's good to see you. How was your first day at the academy?" The elderly Kage asked.
"Heya Gramps. I'm guessing Naruto would beg to differ, but I'd say our first day was pretty interesting. There are a bunch of clan kids in our class. Most of them seem fine, but the Inuzuka guy is way too loud, and the Uchiha seems like he's going to be a prick."
"While I agree with the last part, how could you say it was interesting?!" Naruto exclaimed.
"We can argue about that later. For right now, let's get to the reason we came here."
"Oh yeah! Old man, can we borrow a few shuriken and kunai to practice with? We kinda doubted that the villagers would let us buy weapons, so we came to ask you."
"Hm, I suppose I could give you some in exchange for a little favor, so to speak."
"How does the Hokage of Konoha need a favor from two six-year-old kids?" Natsumi inquired.
"It's quite simple, really. If you two promise me that you won't pull any pranks over the next month, I'll give you both five shuriken and kunai." The Hokage announced.
"What?!" Naruto shouted, forcing Natsumi to cover her ears.
"Naruto, we're in the same room. You don't have to be so loud." Natsumi said, clutching her ears.
"Eheh sorry sis." Naruto apologized, rubbing the back of his head sheepishly.
"Anyway, I'll take the deal. I just want to start practicing already." Natsumi answered, eagerness obvious in her voice.
"In that case here, you go. Five shuriken and five kunai." The Hokage said, handing Natsumi the items.
"Well, Naruto? Will you take this deal too?" Hiruzen asked.
"I guess I will. I might as well try to make a good first impression before I start raising hell." Naruto replied in a depressed tone.
"Good, however if you do not uphold your end of the deal, I will be taking these back." Hiruzen stated sternly, handing Naruto the same weapons as Natsumi.
"Don't worry gramps, I'll make sure he doesn't pull anything. At least not till next month."
"I'm sure you will Natsumi now go and practice, but be careful not to injure yourselves."
"Sure thing, old man! We'll go and be the best in our class!" Naruto proclaimed before quickly leaving the room.
"I'll be going too, gramps. Thanks a lot for the gifts. We'll make sure to do you proud." Natsumi declared, giving the old man a hug.
As Natsumi began chasing after her brother, Hiruzen couldn't help but chuckle before being forced to return to his paperwork. "I know you will."
After multiple hours of basic practice with their new tools the two siblings went home.
As the sun rose the next day, Natsumi woke up as bright rays of light shined through the window. Looking over at the wall clock, she saw it was about to turn seven.
Standing up, she quickly darted past the table in front of her, over to the bed Naruto was sleeping in and started shaking him.
"Get up already, bro. I don't wanna hear that damn alarm this morning!"
Reacting to the shaking, Naruto began to open his eyes before sitting up. Seeing the time on his alarm clock, he quickly moved over and unplugged it, saving both Uzumaki's ears for the morning.
"Alright, I'm up. Go get the ramen started already." Naruto said through a yawn.
After eating breakfast and putting on fresh clothes, the siblings left for the academy.
As soon as the two arrived, they took the same seats as they had the day before. While they waited for class to start, more students began to enter the class, including Hinata, who took the seat next to Natsumi like yesterday, much to the surprise of the siblings. Both had expected Hinata to avoid them for the same unknown reason everyone else had. Hoping she had finally found someone willing to be friends, Natsumi decided to greet the girl.
"Morning Hinata."
"G-good morning Natsumi."
Not sure how to continue the conversation, Natsumi lowered her head to her desk and waited for class to start.
After multiple hours of lecturing from Iruka, the time for lunch finally came, allowing Naruto a break from his suffering. He immediately ran out of the classroom to the one place he could safely eat outside of his apartment.
Knowing where her brother was going, Natsumi sighed and got up from her seat as a thought crossed her mind.
"Hey, Hinata, wanna grab lunch with me and Naruto?"
"Um, o-okay."
"Really?! Awesome! Do you like ramen?!"
"I h-haven't t-tried it before."
"Okay you're coming with me for sure, now c'mon we're going to the best ramen stand in the village!"
Before Hinata could do anything else Natsumi grabbed her by the wrist and quickly ran to meet Naruto.
As both girls entered Ichiraku Ramen they saw Naruto slurping on ramen with two empty bowls stacked next to him.
"Naruto I thought we agreed on two bowls for lunch." Natsumi stated in an annoyed tone.
Hearing his sister's voice Naruto froze and slowly turned around to see both her and Hinata.
"Uh, hey sis." Naruto responded nervously.
"I'll let it slide but seriously bro we need to pay rent and a few extra bowls of ramen isn't worth getting evicted."
"W-why would you have to w-worry about getting evicted?" Hinata asked.
"Oh yeah I guess our situation isn't really normal huh? We live by ourselves in an apartment near here so we've gotta pay rent like anyone else. We get money every month from the Hokage but that includes our rent money so we can't spend it all." Naruto replied.
"But if you live by yourselves s-shouldn't you be at the v-village orphanage?"
"Eh we just left when gramps offered us our own place. Way better than the crappy room we did have there anyway. Not to mention that sis hated talking to everyone there. Honestly I'm surprised that she even brought you here given how anti-social she is."
"Rude."
'What irresponsible fool asks two children if they want to live by themselves?' Hinata silently questioned.
"Anyway enough talk about a stupid apartment, I'm still hungry so let's eat!"

Hey people. This is my first time trying to write fanfic so hopefully it turns out alright. I dont know how often this will get updated since i have problems getting motivated a lot of times. In terms of lore everything should be pretty much the same with some minor exceptions that I'll leave to be written and read later. Hope this proves enjoyable!
