Chapter 1. Capturing the forgotten...
If Ombric knew where his day would lead, he'd certainly be excited...sort of.
Ombric, the greatest and last wizard of Atlantic, was very interested and fond of mythical creatures and beings. He already knew hundreds of forgotten languages, and was still learning new ones. If only he could get his hands on forgotten races, (species or beings) such as dragons, sea creatures or elves for that matter, elves seemed to know everything almost (as they claim), they were immortal. Perhaps they could tell him where some of these races were, so Ombric could add them to his history book of 'Forgotten legends and creatures.'
Of course Ombric didn't intend to keep them in cages and such, he only wanted to see them and KNOW if they still existed.
Ever since the crash of the Golden Age many creatures and beings became extinct or very rare...such as himself.
He had all of the ones he could remember written down in the book, and the ones he'd found already he check off his list and added them to his book of 'Forgotten legends and creatures.' And 'Fantasies that still exist.'
A few of the ones he knew of were: Mermaids. Giants. Little people. Fairies. Sasquatch-(also known in some colder places as Yeti's) Werewolves. Dwarves. One Pooka (of which Ombric was friends with) and Elves. Most of these were kept very secret.
Ombric still had lots more to discover, and occasionally he had the help of his two friends, North and Bunnymund, who also had the desire to find these forgotten races.
And it was on one particular cold and rather windy day that their hopes and wonders became reality...
There in the sky, hovering in the wind, watching the snow clouds pass by, was a small human figure...and by the looks of it, a boy.
Ombrics and Norths eyes lit up with wonder and excitement. (except Bunnymunds, who looked like he was having a deja-vu moment and feeling rather suspicious) Could this be one of those forgotten races that they hadn't yet found? They didn't know which one it could be and North and Ombric scrambled for a telescope, fighting about who would look through it first. North won the scramble.
"I-I see, I see-" North said with high hopes as he tried to hold still in his trembling excitement.
"WHAT DO YOU SEE?!" Ombric asked impatiently.
Norths open mouth grinned...and then slowly he frowned and looked angry.
"What's wrong!?" Ombric asked urgently.
"The CLOUDS BLOCKED MY VIEW!" said North angrily. "But I believe we haven't been noticed. Quick! We get net!" he said and ran back to Big Root.
"That is bad idea!" Ombric warned as he ran along by him.
...While the boy in the air was oblivious to what was about to happen...
He was caught up in the moment of watching the snow clouds softly moving above. He closed his eyes and held on to his shepherds staff tightly, taking a deep breath of that crispy cold air. When suddenly out of nowhere came something whizzing towards him! It caught him in mere seconds and he didn't have time to dodge it. And the next thing he knew he was falling and spinning down towards the forest floor in tangled mess of ropes!
He grunted as the thin tree limbs slowly stopped his fall. Till finally he hit the ground...and he looked up at the spinning sky in a daze...
While with North, Ombric and Bunnymund...
"I saw him fall this way!" Said Ombric in a hurry.
"Oh for Christ sake Ombric, slow down, you're older than ME! WAIT UP!" North huffed, surprised to see the old man walking faster than him.
"You're too FAT North, take a break!" Ombric joked. North huffed in frustration and pushed harder.
A couple minutes later they laid their eyes on the GLORIOUS site of the small struggling heap in the net on the ground.
"Amazing!" said North in awe before he knew what he was looking at and hoping to get a closer look. But then he noticed a piercing pair of brilliant blue eyes staring back at them with fear and anger.
But also what caught the three Guardians attention was how much white there was under the net.
"Ooh...it's a pale creature..." whispered North to Ombric.
"No, that is a boy, North." Ombric corrected him.
"STAY AWAY!" said a strange voice under the net.
"Oh look, it speaks!" said Bunny jokingly towards North.
"Of course! He is boy!" North said back in annoyance.
"SSH!" Ombric told them.
North walked forward towards the boy under the net in a way he hoped wasn't threatening. He also wasn't sure how to talk to a boy who could fly. "Are you alright lad? You don't seem to be injured. Here let me help-" said North and he pulled out his knife to cut him free-
But in that instant those brilliant blue eyes widened with horror. He gasped and then!...
...There was a deepening cold and then pieces of frozen net went flying in all directions! Forcing the three Guardians to duck down. And a blast of cold wind came circling around them. And in that instant the boy flew off in the howling wind and was gone...
Frost covered the timber around them and snow blew around in the breeze...
The three Guardians slowly uncovered their faces to gaze around in shock and wonder.
"Ah...cold..." said Ombric in realization. "I see now..." he gulped.
"See what? What happened there?!" Asked North.
"I think we captured...a deadly being..." Ombric answered, starring off into space.
North didn't understand.
"I think what he means, North..." Bunny said, leaving a dramatic silence. "Is that was an elf of winter itself! One of the most ANNOYING creatures to ever exist!" He said exasperatedly.
"What are you talking about Bunny?" North asked.
"Trust me! You don't want ta mess with 'em. They are MASTERS at controlling the winter weather! They are also very tricksy and deceiving and-and...they like...pranks..." Bunnymund said in fear as he remembered something that happened in the past. "If you even grab their attention...or make them mad...they will pester ya till the day ya die...They're always seeking a target." he began to get the shivers. "I KNEW it was a mistake to do this!" Bunny clamped his eyes shut, fearing the future to come.
"I doubt it Bunny, just grow up!" North slapped him on the back. That made Bunny angry.
"If you DUMB BRAINS don't believe me than GOOD BYE! I'm outta here!" with that Bunnymund jumped down his rabbit hole back to his SAFE warren.
"What was that about?" North asked Ombric. The wizard was slow to answer.
"We have been forewarned...we must head home quickly, before the storm gets worse..." Ombric answered.
