Fate. Fate has always been a strange and fickle concept to the common man or woman. Many wonder if coincidence is just fate in disguise. If two people were meant to come together, or they just happen to have the same or opposing qualities that draw each other in.
Fate has been a constant for one person. Ren Amamiya. A teenage boy who's life was ruined by a drunk man and his high influence of power. Transferred to Tokyo to live out the rest of his probation, Ren attempted to make a better life for himself after transferring to a new school.
But fate, played a hand in his life. After he, and his friend, Ryuji Sakamoto, discovered the Metaverse, and learned of Personas and Palaces. The two of them, along with a cat named Morgana, sought to change the heart of their gym teacher. With the addition of Ann Takamaki, they defeated the lustful coach and returned with his treasure.
Several months later, the four of them saved more people who also became part of their group, and also took down more and more powerful men, changing their hearts and making them confess their crimes.
They were... The Phantom Thieves of Heart.
However, their journey would take a twist as someone outside of the world or the Metaverse, and even outside the Velvet Room played a card on this deck.
Ren was in his room, watching a movie with his friends when the old TV began to glitch.
"Oh man, we were just getting to the good part!" Ryuji groaned as he slapped the TV.
"Don't slam it! You'll break the TV, Besides it's old!" Futaba said.
"Ren, have you considered buying a new TV? Perhaps a flat screen?" Ann asked.
"Even with the money we get from the Metaverse, do I want Boss getting suspicious about where I got that kind of money from?" Ren asked, his eyebrow raised at her.
"We could always explain that we all pitched in to get a better one." Makoto offered.
"Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to pitch in due to me spending almost all of my money on art supplies." Yusuke said solemnly.
"Dude, you really need to watch some videos on how to budget because I can't keep paying for your train fare." Ryuji said, looking at the artist.
"I can always pay for a majority of the TV, Ren." Haru offered happily with her hands clasped together.
"Guys, really. It's no problem at all. I'm fine with this TV." Ren said.
"If you say so, Ren. I think this thing can really use an upgrade." Morgana the cat said.
"Well perhaps I can let Boss know early on what my plan is." Ren said, pushing his glasses.
"Hell yeah! We're on the first step in getting a new TV!" Ryuji exclaimed.
"Ryuji! Keep it down, Boss still has customers downstairs." Ann scolded him slightly.
"Shit! Sorry." Ryuji apologized with the scratch on the back of his head.
The screen glitched and produced more white noise which made Futaba groan. "Jeez Ren. Where did you dig up this old fossil?"
"I got it from that second hand shop next to us." Ren answered, standing up next to Ryuji to see what he can do to fix up the problem. He pulled the three color coded plugs out, but the white noise was still being produced.
"What the hell..." Morgana said in bewilderment.
"Uh, you did unplug it, right?" Ryuji asked.
Ren looked at the TV and saw that it still had power on. His eyes narrowed before moving his hand to pull the official plug. He unplugged it, and strange noises could be heard coming from the TV.
"What in the world is happening?" Yusuke asked.
"The TV is still on?" Makoto was surprised at this.
"Is this the Metaverse!?" Morgana exclaimed.
"The navigator hasn't gone off." Ann replied, holding her phone out.
All conversations died out when the screen made a series of whirring and electric noises. It was in sequence as the screen showed something bizarre.
It was a video of several people in a dressing room, putting paint in their faces. Their faces were not in full view, but several hairstyles could be seen.
"Wait a minute, was that my hair?" Ann asked with widened eyes.
"I definitely saw yours, Futaba." Yusuke said.
"Yeah, I can see that Inari! What I want to know is why are we wearing paint? And... Are those jumpsuits?" Futaba narrowed her eyes on the screen.
The video showed the people placing masks in sequence and messing with their hair a bit to ensure that they fit in as comfortably as possible. The video cut to show the group walking out. They all wore red jumpsuits, all with sequential numbers in their shoulders. While their faces were obscured by the masks, their eyes were seen plain as day and that made everyone realize who they were.
"It's... It's us." Makoto said.
"Are we... Are we prisoners?" Ryuji asked, worried.
"Well obviously not, because we're still here. But I don't understand how we're there." Ren said in a cool voice in an effort to calm everyone down.
"We're wearing our Phantom Thief masks, with some paint on our faces. Perhaps this would make for an interesting art piece, one of these days." Yusuke said, making a frame with his hands.
"Not the time, Inari!" Futaba said to him.
The sounds then became louder as the recording of a woman could be heard repeating. "The whole thing I think is sick! The whole thing I think is sick! The whole thing I think is sick!"
"Wait, who is that person? I don't recognize him." Haru pointed to one of the members with shaggy brown hair. His mask was red with a super long nose, almost like a bird beak.
"That hair... Those eyes... Is that Akechi?" Ren asked, his eyes widened.
"For real!? What is he doing here?" Ryuji exclaimed.
"Perhaps we are seeing the future? We are wearing our masks when we are in the Metaverse." Yusuke said.
"I highly doubt that, because where in our future do you see us in these jumpsuits?" Morgana asked.
"Not to mention, the other dude with the black mask, does he have familiar eyes?" Ann asked.
The other person was a little shorter than the others, with bright blue eyes.
"Wait… Is that me!? Is that my human form!?" Morgana exclaimed excitedly.
"Well look at that, you got your wish after all." Ren smiled at the cat.
The video showed them huddled together before Ren's voice could clearly be heard. "This is it. This is the big leagues. We're opening for a major band, so let's give them a fucking experience they've never seen before! We've spent years working this fucking band, and we've nearly given up multiple times, but it's all been worth it. We're fuckin' here to rock their world! Let's do this shit! WHO THE FUCK ARE WE!?" Ren shouted that last part.
"WE'RE MOTHERFUCKING SLIPKNOT!!" The band shouted in unison before clapping once. They walked away towards the entrance with a fastened pace. The band made their way to the stage where the audience cheered at the sight of them.
Ren took center stage with Ryuji to his left with a guitar. He glared at the audience before cracking his neck. Morgana stood behind to the right with a bass guitar. Makoto stood to Ren's right, holding the other guitar. There were two drum sets on both sides of the stage. Akechi got on the right set while Yusuke got to the left set. Ann sat down at the main drums while Haru stood at a keyboard. Finally, Futaba stood at a DJ turntable set and made a few noises on the machine.
"TOKYO!!! ARE YOU READY!?!?" Ren shouted to the crowd to which the audience cheered loudly. "Let's go!" Ren shouted.
"Wait... We're in a band!?" Everyone shouted in unison.
/Sorry for the terrible opening. I couldn't figure out a better way to show the crew without doing the whole theater and Multiverse overseer again. I hope you enjoyed and ready for more! After the first two songs are posted, I will be putting up a poll with 2 or 3 songs and you guys can vote on which ones you want to see them react to.\\
