NOTE: Side stories! Which will feature the Tennyson Family and P4 characters in little snippets that I wouldn't be able to fit in the main story. Each one of these are canon unless I say so.

Log 1: Theme Songs
Cover Page: Ben held a guitar in his hands, pretending to play it as if he was in a rock band. Yukiko stood next to him with her own guitar, except she didn't know how it worked and stared at it confusingly.
Ben stared out the window of the Rustbucket as the RV passed by several cars. The boy's eyes mindlessly watched cars zoom past as his mind was deep in thought. Suddenly, he snapped his fingers and turned to his eldest cousin.
"Yukiko!" Ben called to her.
The heiress looked up from her reading to look at him. "Yes, Ben?"
"I need your help with something important!" He said, a serious look in his eyes. The heiress was surprised by the serious expression, not used to seeing Ben with one.
"What is it, Ben? Why is it so important? Does it have to do with the Omnitrix?" She asked, curious. The 10-year-old leaned back in his seat and nodded his head.
"Well, what I have to say is related to the watch, but it's not the main issue. It might even concern life or death," He stared her directly in the eyes. His words caught the attention of Max and Gwen who were in the front seat. Gwen turned around to look at him, her interest suddenly peaked.
Yukiko's attention had completely left her book and leaned forward towards Ben. The heiress' mind jumbling on what could possibly have Ben be so serious. "Life or death!? W-What's wrong, Ben!?"
He didn't answer immediately and closed his eyes. Ben folded his arms and kicked his legs onto the table(Though, he's been told multiple times not to), and with the utmost seriousness spoke his next words.
"I…"
His family sat on the edges of their seats, sweat rolling down their faces slowly in anticipation.
"I don't have a theme song."
Gwen and Yukiko fell anime style once Ben finally spoke what was on his mind. Max couldn't do the exact same thing due to the fact that he was driving, but he did sweat drop at Ben's words.
"A…A theme song?" Yukiko questioned, confused.
Gwen got back up into her seat and sighed disappointingly at herself. "I should've known it was gonna be something stupid."
Ben leaned up in his seat, slamming his hands on the table. "Yeah! A theme song! Every cool superhero has their own theme song that plays to show how cool they are!" Ben exclaimed, excited about this topic.
"Yeah, but you're a doofus, so you're the complete opposite of cool," Gwen replied, dryly. The boy turned to her with an annoyed glare.
"I don't understand why that's important to you, Ben. Life's not a cartoon," Max said, looking back at him through the rear view mirror.
"Well, of course you don't understand, Grandpa. You're old," Ben said simply. The old man sweat dropped at his Grandson's blunt response.
"Then why are you asking Yukiko? I'm pretty sure she doesn't watch cartoons," Gwen asked.
Ben nodded his head at that, agreeing with her. "Well yeah, Yukiko's kinda boring," Ben responded.
"Boring!?" Yukiko gasped, offended.
Ben ignored her outburst. "But, since she lives at a famous Inn, I figured she must have some experience with music," He explained. "Do you?" He asked.
Yukiko got over her shock of being called boring, deciding that she could question the boy about that later. "Well, certain members of the staff do play the piano for guests in the lobby," Yukiko answered, thinking back to her home. "But I'm not really knowledgeable about music unlike Rise-chan," Yukiko explained.
"What? Ugh, do you know any music at least?" Ben asked, slightly disappointed.
The heiress pondered her head in thought. She snapped her fingers when a familiar song popped into her head. "Yes! There was a song that Yu-kun and Yosuke showed me once. I'm sure that I remember the lyrics to it," She answered, smiling.
"Really? Sing it, then!" Ben urged her on.
"A-Are you sure? I'm not that good of a singer," Yukiko said, bashfully.
"Yeah, I think I'd like to hear it too," Gwen agreed, turning to look at them.
"Same, I'm sure your singing isn't that bad, Yukiko," Max gently urged her on.
"Can't be any worse than Ben's," Gwen jokes.
"Hey! My voice isn't that bad!" Ben growled, offended.
Yukiko was still a bit hesitant, but her family asked. "Alright, just give me a moment," She agreed to it. The heiress cleared her throat and took a deep breath.
(Heartbeat Heartbeat Heartbeat Heartbeat
Heartbreak Heartbreak Heartbreak Heartbreak)
(Heartbeat Heartbeat It keeps on pounding
Heartbreak Heartbreak You tell me goodbye)
(Heartbeat Heartbeat Heartbeat Heartbeat
Heartbreak Heartbreak Heartbreak Heartbreak)
(Heartbeat Heartbeat It keeps on pounding
Heartbreak Heartbreak You tell me goodbye)
The Tennysons were gobsmacked by the sound of Yukiko's singing. While it wasn't perfect, there was a softness and elegance to it that captivated their attention.
(Tell me why you did it Every dream falling apart
Tell me why you did it After the promise
Still aching Still aching Oh baby I need your love
Looking so different Glaring street light)
The song was so…relaxing to hear. As if they could just let it play in the background while they did homework or maintenance. Gwen found herself wanting to dance along with the song, wanting to match the gracefulness it was emitting.
(Heartbeat Heartbeat It keeps on pounding
Heartbreak Heartbreak You tell me goodbye)
(Heartbeat Heartbeat It keeps on pounding
Heartbreak Heartbreak You tell me goodbye)
Yukiko finished singing, letting the words fade away slowly from her lips. When she opened her eyes to see her family's reaction, the three were shocked and stunned into silence. Gwen started clapping, and then Ben did as well. Max would've joined in if he wasn't driving, but Yukiko could see the congratulations in his eyes.
"Yukiko, that was so beautiful!" Gwen complimented.
"It wasn't something that I'd listen to, but your voice is good," Ben complimented as well.
The heiress blushed. "I-It wasn't anything special. Rise-chan can sing way better than me anyway," Yukiko dismissed her praise.
"Don't dismiss your own talents, Yukiko. Your voice is beautiful, and you shouldn't think otherwise, perhaps you could sing more for your Inn," Max complimented and suggested.
"Sing for the Inn?" Yukiko tilted her head.
Gwen nodded her head at the idea. "Yeah! Maybe, if you sang some songs for your guests, it may make them feel more at peace. And if it works out, then they'd talk to other people outside the Inn about it! It could add to your publicity!" Gwen spouted, energetically. Yukiko pondered the idea, finding it tempting.
"I'd have to talk to my parents about it, though I'm sure my mother would love the idea," Yukiko responded.
"...What about your dad?" Max asked.
"My mother will probably make him agree, he was never a fan of me sticking out too much. Though, with how famous the Inn is, that was unavoidable anyways," Yukiko answered, not bothered by it.
Before Max could ask anything more, Ben interrupted the conversation. "We're getting off track now! I still don't have a theme song!" He complained.
Gwen rolled her eyes. "Okay, then you come up with something, King Doofus!"
"I will, Queen Geek!" Ben snapped back. Ben folded his arms and closed his eyes, concentrating hard to come up with something. If Yukiko looked hard enough, she could see steam coming out of the top of Ben's head as he kept thinking so much. She suppressed a giggle at the sight before her.
His eyes snapped open, and he hopped out of his seat. "Ha ha! I got it!" He exclaimed.
"Oh, what is it!?" Yukiko asked, interested.
"Is it about you being a doofus?" Gwen teased.
"Is it about you being a doofus?" Ben mocked the sound of her voice. "Just shut up and listen!" The boy barked at her.
Ben cleared his throat and opened his mouth to sing.
(It started when an alien device did what it did
And stuck itself upon his wrist with secrets that it hid
Now he's got super powers, he's no ordinary kid
He's Ben 10!)
Ben didn't continue and he stood there with a proud smile on his face. Yukiko started clapping in applause. She was the only one who clapped for Ben's little song.
Gwen just looked disappointed. "Is that it?"
He turned to her confused. "What do you mean?"
"You sat there for 10 minutes and only came up with that?" Gwen asked.
"I had to think about it, okay!" He yelled, offended.
"Well, Ben, I think it was lovely," Yukiko calmed him down.
"Thank you! At least someone appreciates a good song!" Ben huffed at Gwen. The orange haired girl rolled her eyes at him.
"Is that all there is to it, Ben?" Max asked.
"No way! It's still incomplete, my theme song is gonna rock your socks off!" Ben boasted.
"But how are rocks gonna take off our socks?" Yukiko tilted her head, confused. Her confusion grew when her family just sighed at her question.
Log End
NOTE: I've been wanting to include Persona 4 music, but I could never figure out how to do it in the main story. So, I was happy to be able to do it here.
Ben is also figuring out his own theme song, which will make its appearance in the main story eventually.
Have a great day!
