So I disappeared from this site for a while and realized how much I miss writing and sharing my writing with others, so here I am!
This story is probably not going to be super serious or melodramatic like my other stories. But this story is rated M for sexual content and adult themes so if you're not comfortable with that, this may not be for you.
Anyway, hopefully you guys like this first chapter. Let me know what you think :)
Tris couldn't believe her luck.
She had been applying for numerous positions for the past couple of months. And not only did she finally get an interview with one of them, but she even got offered a second interview. There was just one catch.
"Executive Assistant?" Her roommate asked her, as she told her about the interview. "I know that I never fully understood your major, but I know for sure that I've never heard you say you want to be someone's assistant."
Tris rolled her eyes, though she knew this reaction was coming. She sat down on the barstool in front of the counter that separated their kitchen and living room area and opened up her laptop, as her roommate, Christina, continued to prepare her food in the kitchen while they talked.
"It's not necessarily my dream role," Tris said, "but this company is huge. They're a big deal. If I could just get my foot in the door, maybe I could show them that I can bring a lot more to the table than... I don't know, phone messages. Anyway, with the little experience that I have, they're the only people that have even called me back at this point."
Christina nodded in understanding at this. Shortly after Tris graduated college, her mother became sick. Her father had to take on extra shifts to pay for her treatment, and her brother made excuses for why he couldn't help. It usually revolved around his cushy new job. That left Tris to take care of her mother nearly everyday. Needless to say, it was impossible to secure a job in her field with such limited time.
Luckily, her mother had pulled through and she was doing much better now. However, Tris quickly realized that the situation had left her way behind her peers in terms of experience. While others had been gaining experience and climbing up corporate ladders, she had been stuck at home, and she was lucky if she could hold a part time job to make a few extra bucks.
She knew that she would have a hard time even getting a call back considering how little experience she had to offer. One day in an act of desperation, she applied for the Executive Assistant position. However, the company itself was so structured, and her research found that they were growing steadily. She applied for the role, and she tried to convince herself that if she could just get a chance to prove her worth, they would push her up to a higher role that she actually wanted.
"All right, so when's the second interview?" Christina asked, as she leaned against the counter across from Tris while she waited for her food to cook.
"Thursday," Tris replied, as she started typing into her laptop.
Thursday. It gave her just two days to prepare.
"Not bad," Christina commented before smirking. "Let me guess. You're reading through their entire website for the millionth time in case they happen to ask about any of it."
"It's good to be prepared," Tris grumbled, making Christina snort. "But no, that's not what I'm doing. I'm actually looking up the guy I'm meeting with for the second interview. Apparently, he's the person that I'd be working under, so I wanna learn as much about him as I can."
"Makes sense," Christina said. "Let me guess. Old white dude with a creepy smile."
Tris rolled her eyes, as she clicked into one of the profiles that her search returned. Her computer loaded the screen, and she felt her mouth drop open a bit, as her eyes found the man's picture. He looked to be only a bit older than her, and he had amazing blue eyes and a sharp jawline. His headshot only came down to his shoulders, but she could tell that his body wasn't far behind his ridiculously handsome face. At least, he was ridiculously handsome to her. She let out a sigh to compose herself. If all went well, this man was going to be her boss! She couldn't be drooling over him.
"You found him?" Christina asked, though she didn't wait for an answer. "Let me see!"
Tris didn't have time to stop her, as she grabbed at the laptop and turned it around. Christina gasped, and her mouth dropped open much more dramatically than Tris' had as she stared at the picture.
"Holy shit. He's hot!"
"I know," Tris mumbled into her hands.
"How the hell are you gonna focus?"
"I don't know."
"Whoo!"
Tris rolled her eyes, as Christina pretended to fan herself with her hand.
"Ask him if he wants two assistants, okay?"
Tris rolled her eyes as Christina started preparing her food again while making jokes about quitting her current job to work as this man's second assistant.
She also felt a little thankful that she had chosen to look him up before the interview. His looks definitely caught her off guard, but now there would be no surprises when she met with him in person. Now, she would be ready for anything.
She tried to keep that in mind as she waited in the company's lobby on the morning of her interview. She had already checked in with the secretary and checked her hair and makeup in her compact mirror. Now there was nothing to do but wait. She took a deep breath to calm herself as she waited for what felt like hours.
"Beatrice Prior?" The secretary called out. Tris stood up and looked back at her. "Tobias Eaton will see you now."
