Prologue
At the ripe age of 45, Harriet Potter was left alone and miserable. No, her friends did not abandon her, but they did move on with their lives after a couple of years of healing their hearts and mourning their loved ones. Harri did heal eventually but it took her a bit longer than most people, and over the years, her nightmares became less frequent, and they became easier to ignore.
"It all started when 'call me Harri' had defeated Voldemort when she was only 17 and the Wizarding World had applauded her and hailed her a hero. But like all good things, nothing ever lasts. Harri had trouble forming attachments to suitors and boy did that turn into the hottest news in the media. Everyone she looked at reminded her of all of the people that she had lost. Sirius, Remus, Tonks, Dumbledore, Fred, and hell even Snape! Harri understood all too well why he despised her, but that didn't give him an excuse for all of the torment that he inflicted in her schooling years.
Even so, Harri didn't hate the man, but she held no lost love for him either. All of the people that she couldn't save were a constant reminder of how she had failed, and she saw them in everyone she met. And when she did meet the 'The One' that she could finally settled down with and start a family with, she was once again met with misfortune. The killing curse had done more than take away the Horcrux in her, it had also left her with no chance of life ever being born from her. After a miscarriage, Harri went to a private healer, and she was informed that it is best if she stopped trying to have children because her magic and body could only support herself. Her body and magic will always try to protect her first and will see any foreign material as a threat and eliminate it. Just like the horcrux that leached off of her, no child will be able to receive their nutrients from her body either because her body and magic unconsciously remembers being the host to a parasite for more than 16 years. With the killing curse finally releasing her from her parasite, her magic learned not to let anything feed off of her.
Harri was distraught and it didn't help that 'The One' left her immediately after learning that he would not be able to have Heirs and continue his bloodline. Ron and Hermione always stood by her side and supported her. But not even the support of her two best friends could cure her grief of staying alone after all these years and never finding love because she had fallen for the first man that didn't look like any of her friends and family. And just see where this has brought her to. After everything that Harri had been through, she never expected this to be one of the toughest ordeals that she had to go through. Harri saw all of her friends with children, and even some of her older peers becoming grandparents. But there she was miserable and alone because she got the short stick out of the lot. All because of a madman so incompetent that a killing curse couldn't take her out.
Harri had no one to share her life, her bed, and her tales with. She did enjoy sharing stories with her best friends' kids, Rose and Hugo Weasley, as well as Teddy Lupin, but they were too old to ask for stories and she had a feeling that they could also see the longing in her eyes to have children and they felt bad for her.
When Matthew Pucey had left her, the media went crazy for weeks. No one could understand why anyone would leave 'The Chosen One', but as the years went by and Harri remained single and childless, speculation started to arise in the wizarding community and many theories were made about what was wrong with her. Matthew has stayed silent out of pity and fear of her, knowing that Harri would drag him down with her if he dared to speak to the media or anyone in that matter. Harri also had dirt on him and everyone Matthew knew because Matthew loves to talk and tells her everything that's going on. To trivial matters, to illegal dealings that he knows about. Pucey became an Auror after the end of the war, and he understood the underground far better then she could. But she always listened to him because she thought that he needed someone to vent to and just to listen to. But it appears he only wanted to hear the sound of his voice when he spoke because he would go on tangents and they both knew that he wasn't supposed to share this information with her. But that didn't stop him from telling her everything that he knew. When Pucey had moved out of her flat, he left all types of magical objects at their flat in London, and that included a broken Time-Turner.
When Pucey had left, he had forgotten about the broken Time-Turner that he kept as a souvenir. Harri wasn't much of a scholar, but she has always found these little crafts fascinating, and it was one of those sleepless nights that she stayed up and observed the Time-Tuner that she fell asleep to on her cheek. Harri dreamt of better days, of bittersweet days where she still didn't understand her Fate, and everything was new and exciting to her. An excitement that only children possess, the excitement she felt back then when she knew she was a witch and was excited to go into a world that had people like her. A place where she wouldn't be a freak.
Which left her in this predicament she was currently facing. Harri woke up from her peaceful sleep to what she thought was a screeching Banshee. She jumped up in alarm and hit her head in a small cupboard under the stairs.
