It had become a typical day at UNIT HQ with Ace and Graham entering the building together flirting. Everyone looks at each other tired of it. "Oi you two just stop the flirting already," shouts Yaz. It had been 4 months since the Master had tried to steal the Doctor's regenerations and identity.

"I wasn't flirting." Graham says.

Tegan pops her head up, "if that isn't your flirting Graham, I would like to see you flirting. Oh, and Ace you can't deny it. You forget that I have known you for over a decade." Ace tries and fails to hold back a blush. "No need to hide it Ace."

"Ok ok everyone," Kate interrupts what she feels is something will start between the two of them. "We have Daleks in the center of London."

Ace goes to the panel and gets out her jacket, bag and ionized bat. Graham watches with a smile as Ace swings the bat in a circular motion. "You're starring Graham," Yaz says, coming up behind him.

"What no I'm not."

"Come on Graham, I don't want to train anyone with my Nitro-999 right now."

"Coming."

"Don't want to train anyone eh?" Tegan teases.

"Oh shove it Tegan, he has helped me blow up Daleks before." A glint forms in Ace's eyes as she remembers her first meeting with Graham.

"I agree you and Graham make the perfect team. You would make even a better couple," with a large mischievous smile Tegan adds. Ace just walks away as Graham matches Ace step.

"Are you ok Ace?"

"Just wish they would stop all of this. We are friends."

"Good friends," Ace shoots him a quick smile in agreement. They get into a UNIT vehicle on the way to the center of London. "We both get it from those that we work with that are also like family to us."

"That we do, you think they would understand two people just being friends."

"Yaz is doing it because she wants me to be happy. She has been begging Ryan to come home."

"Has he been back since everything with the Doctor happened?"

"No, though he wishes he was."

"How has he been since leaving the Doctor? I know you have been good."

"Me chairs are not being broken all the time you mean by the Doc landing on them with the TARDIS," Ace lets out a laugh, "he's doing good when he is home; he spends time with his friends.

"Next time he hangs out with his friends, you can hang out with me."

"I know."

"Maybe even help me make some Nitro-999."

"That will be Ace."

"Graham," she says laughing when the car stops. They get out of the car and quickly dodge a Dalek blast. "Are you ready to repeat what we did in that Volcano Graham?"

"Anyday." She hands him a can of Nitro-999 and he rolls it to them. As a few Daleks explode out of the smoke Ace and Graham emerge, Ace starts to destroy the Daleks' eyestalks as Graham puts a smaller version on one of them. He doesn't move fast enough away from the blast and gets knocked back.

"GRAHAM!" over the blast Ace didn't hear the TARDIS materializing. She runs over to Graham as the Doctor comes out of the TARDIS.

"Get him in and hand me your bag Ace. Ace gets a groggy Graham up and into the TARDIS as the Doctor. After the Doctor comes back in he sees Ace cleaning off Graham's face with a soft look in her eyes. "You like him, don't you Ace."

"He is becoming one of my best mates."

"Not like that Ace."

"You too."

"What do you mean?" The Doctor says while piloting the TARDIS.

"Yaz and Tegan were teasing us before we left to deal with those Daleks."

"Ace, if your first reaction to any of that is to deny deny deny, when many see you can see that spark, including when someone only saw you for maybe 5 minutes, don't you think it can be true."

"Professor, I know how I feel, but I don't think he is ready. Now please, take us to a hospital, he fell asleep as soon as I got him in here, and after that go pick up Ryan."

"Who will care about you?"

"What matters now is that Graham is ok." The Doctor pulls down a lever as the TARDIS flies to the closest hospital and again looks at Ace trying to take care of Graham.

"We're here, go get him checked in, I will help get him in."

"Thank you." Ace runs up to the kiosk, "I have my friend here, who needs a doctor. He was recently knocked out and hasn't opened his eyes for about 10 minutes."

"What is their name mam?"

"Graham O'Brien," the Doctor comes in with Graham in a wheelchair.

"Is there anything you know about him that can help us out?"

"He is in remission. We have only been friends for a few months, we met through an old friend. Please can you help him," asks a worried Ace.

"Of course we can mam, is there anyone that can help fill out his paperwork?"

"His Grandson, but is out of town for his vlog."

"Can you get a hold of him?"

"No, but I know someone who can."

"Call that person, we will take Mr. O'Brien." After the lady walks away with Graham, Ace turns towards the Doctor.

"Please go get Ryan and be back in 20 minutes at the most."

"Ace, I have to be careful not to cross timelines.

"I don't care about bloody timelines right now Doctor. Graham is hurt and we need Ryan to fill out the paperwork. He also should be here with him."

"I know Ace."

"If you do please get in that time machine of yours and go and get him." The Doctor walks away and Ace can hear the TARDIS leaving.

"Ma-am are you Grace O'Brien?"

Ace starts to be even more sad, "no that is his wife that died a few years ago.''

"I am sorry to hear that."

"Me too. Is there any way I can see him?"

"No, only family can and besides the doctor is checking him over right now."

"Ok," Ace goes and sits in the waiting room. Before she knows it she can hear the TARDIS and sees a young man running out, the Doctor shows him to Ace. "You must be Ryan, I have heard a lot about you. I wish we were meeting under better circumstances."

"You must be Ace, Graham talks about you a lot. Is there any info on him?"

"They can't tell me as I am not family."

"I can change that. I know he would want you there." Ace tries to smile, but fails.

"I appreciate that." Ryan goes up to the counter and the next thing himself, Ace and the Doctor are being ushered back to Graham's room. Ace is also thinking of a way to get him one of the special private rooms.

"Mr. O'Brien, Miss?"

"McShane."

"As in Dorothy McShane, one of our biggest donors?"

"Yes."

"Why didn't you say anything?"

"Maybe because I am more concerned about one of my good friends, then about being recognized," Ace bites back.

"I'll be right back, Mr. O'Brien, ," she nods at them and rushes off. Ace goes into the room and sits in the chair and grabs Graham's hand.

"Grandad never told me it was Dorothy McShane."

"He doesn't care, I am going to get a hold of UNIT." Ryan walks into the room and watches how Ace is leaning over the bed with his Grandad's hand wrapped in her own.

"Hi Ace."

"Sorry," she gets up from the chair, "you must want to sit here."

"I'm fine, you should sit there, the Doctor is calling UNIT."

"Ok."

"Is there anything I should know before I fill out the paperwork?"

"Not that I know of."

"Ok, you stay here, I will be right back." As Ryan walks out the nurse and President of the hospital comes in.

"Ms. McShane," the President starts, "I am sorry to hear about your friend and how you weren't allowed back until his family gave permission, besides getting a private room with a larger area of course. It is being made up."

"Just make sure he gets better, and I should've known that I wouldn't get any information as I am not family."

"Sir," Ryan starts, "I know my Grandad is probably going to have a handful of visitors after our friend out there gets off the phone, is there a way to make sure they can see my Grandad too?"

"I will just need their names."

"I know a few of them, our friend will no more. I have been out of town for about 9 months with a spotty connection."

"That's fine, the room should be ready quickly, follow me."

After everyone leaves, "Graham," Ace starts to speak to his motionless body, "you are scaring me here. It seems whenever I like someone they either are on the wrong side, turn evil or die. Please wake up. Ryan is here so you know. I know you have been wanting him home for the past couple of months." An orderly comes in.

"Ma-am the room is ready."

"Thank you, let me go tell his Grandson."

"No worries Ace, I am right here." The orderly and some nurses transfer Graham into a bed with wheels and they go up to the top floor.

"Ace?"

"Yes, Ryan?"

"How has he really been, you know, before this?"

"He's been good, he has been laughing a lot and at the meetings he has been leading everything."

"He has talked a little about those; though he talks more about the two of you going out for coffee afterwards."

"He is a great friend and listener. Most guys or girls I meet are more interested in the fact that I am Dorothy McShane."

"He likes talking to Ace."

"I like to think he does." They follow everyone to Graham's new room and watch them transfer Graham onto the new bed. In the far corner of the room there is a cot and against a wall there is a big overstuffed chair.

"The President said to add the cot in case one or both of you want to stay here."

"Thank you." Ace and Ryan go next to the bed, Ace grabbing Graham's hand again, Ryan just stands there watching him.
