Peace, order and development. The ninja world had reached a time of tranquility after so many wars until the end. Only one person somehow managed to survive that extinction.
'How can I live with them dead?' Sakura thought in the middle of a crisis.
Her mind was disconnected from her body until for fate's sake, Sakura came across the whitebeard pirates and her life took a 180° turn and entered a new chapter in her life. The last ninja has entered the great
pirate age!
In the middle of the night, Sakura opened her eyes. The last thing she remembered was that she was celebrating with the Whitebeard pirates for having defeated the pirates who dared to break into the ship in the middle of a storm. It was a big party, with plenty of drink and food, as soon as the beer ran out, her jar "magically" was full again and her plate was overflowing with food again.
At some point during the party, she must have fallen asleep and someone carried her to her room. Unlike the past few days, her body felt rested and her mind clear. Sitting down she glanced around the corner.
Naruto wasn't there.
She dropped her shoulders in relief. Seeing the empty corner felt more pleasant than he expected.
She could continue sleeping in her bed but Sakura didn't feel like being in her room so she got out of bed, took off the clothes she was wearing until she reached her dresser, took out a comfortable white dress that reached her knees and a red shawl that Tato gave her. She didn't even bother to put on shoes when she left her room. She didn't want to feel tethered to her body.
On tiptoes, she walked across the deck until her feet carried her to her usual spot at the stern of the ship. She sat on the ship's rail, closed her eyes and inhaled deeply the salty air as her ears focused on the sound of the ocean waves. She enjoyed this peace and calm that she hadn't felt since she woke up in this wide and unknown sea.
Once Sakura opened her eyes she looked up from her to the sky, the big full moon was shining in the sky, next to her, the stars were shining like little diamonds.
Although her world turned 180 °, her consolation is seeing the same stars that she saw on her island. Something that let her know that she was home even when this is not the land where she grew up but a ship surrounded by a vast sea.
How many times has she looked up at the night sky on her missions without giving it much thought? even when she discovers in the ninja war that Hagoromo and Hamura's mother is sealed on the moon. It's more than a seal, it's a memory of the existence of the ninja world, and ironically, it made her think that in this unknown world, only Kaguya -who won't get out of her prison- and her were left.
The night was freezing, her hands began to feel icy but it's something she could bear. She didn't want to go in yet.
'Just a little more,' Sakura thought without haste.
Sometimes like this time, Ace had to decide between being hungry, sleeping and going to the bathroom at the same time. On some occasions, he has managed to eat and sleep at the same time, unfortunately sleepwalking is not yet on his list of achievements, so he had to get up to go to the bathroom and then go to the kitchen to raid the cupboard, ignoring the note that said: "Do not steal. Yes, I'm talking about you, Ace". With a piece of bread in his mouth, he went out on deck to walk to see the sea before lying back on his bed. His unconscious feet took him to the stern, perhaps because of the habit of his last days with the pinkhead who is currently the ship's guest.
When going up the stairs he choked on his bread when he saw the aforementioned sitting on the railing. At the noise Sakura turned to look at him, her emerald eyes meeting his charcoal eyes.
"What?"
"What?" he repeated.
The girl in front of him began to laugh. Although it was a nice change, he still hadn't gotten used to her heartfelt laughter. It's not that it bothered Ace, more like he liked it, he doesn't like sad or grumpy people.
"You look better."
"The miracle of restful sleep," Sakura hummed.
"Those are the best," Ace replied.
Sakura frowned as she puffed out her cheeks slightly."You don't count, I don't know how you can sleep standing up and you don't drown when you sleep on your food."
Ace's chest vibrated in time with his laughter. If Sakura said it like that it seemed like he had a superpower that he obviously prides himself on.
"I learned it as a child."
"What a peculiar family you have."
Ace shrugged, she could interpret it however he wanted. Instead, he was a little more concerned to know how she was.
"Are you sure you're okay?" The last time they met, she experienced strong emotions.
Contrary to what he thought, she smiled again and to his dismay, she stood on the railing. Ace hurriedly approached her, stretching out his arms.
"What are you doing? If you fall I won't be able to get you out, we are devil fruit users.
Seeing him frown, Sakura laughed again. If he only knew that she could walk on walls. She would give anything to see his surprised face if she starts walking on the sea right now, too bad she keeps her identity hidden from them, so she refrained instead and began to tiptoe along the railing.
"Today I feel fine."
She really was. Sakura felt at peace and grateful to continue living, she had a new purpose in her life and she was determined to achieve it. Such was her happiness that she even wanted to dance. She hadn't done it in a long time, a dance that has passed from generation to generation in her family.
"What are you doing?" Ace asked when he saw her stretch out one of her arms and the opposite leg of hers.
"Dance?"
"Dance?" He raised an eyebrow.
Sakura began to move her body to the rhythm of her soul.
"Yes, it is a dance that they taught me as a child, it represents tribute, gratitude and a greeting."
"Whom?"
"To me, to you, to life on earth and to the gods who take care of us like-"
"The goddess of the sea."
"Exactly, the goddess of the sea, the god of the sun, the god of the skies, everyone else."
Ace stared at her without taking his eyes off her, her movements were graceful, and her white dress illuminated by the moonlight revealed the silhouette of her body but only made her look ethereal, there was not a hint of morbidity and lust in it. Seeing her, every movement with her arms and turning on her own feet was charged with feelings, little by little a feeling of fullness began to invade as if the message of the secret dance filled him.
They stayed like that for a while until the crash of a wave against the boat destabilized it in a spin, Ace rushed towards her and took her in his arms. Sakura's head rested on his shoulder and his arms wrapped around her waist.
"I told you it was dangerous. It would be terrible if you drowned in the sea and I too for helping you."
"But we're fine, aren't we?" Sakura said pulling away slowly with a hint of reluctance from the heat Ace gave off. She leaned on the railing and slid down to the ground. "Okay, so there will be no more danger."
Ace winced, she looked so carefree and calm that she didn't feel like looking like the grump in the story. He's usually the reckless and carefree one of the crew so taking on this role wasn't his thing. He looked around before sitting next to Sakura leaning his back against the wood of the ship and looking up at the sky imitating Sakura. As a child he sometimes lay on the ground next to Sabo and Luffy to see the stars, they tried to see the constellations and sometimes they invented them just to make fun of Luffy who said that he did not see them
"Are you sure you're okay?... Aren't there nightmares or something?"
"No, I just wanted to get out of my room," Sakura said, Ace's proximity was welcome, "I wanted to see the stars, they remind me of home. At the academy, they taught us to read the stars to know the way back, like a map in the sky."
"Oh, that sounds great, it would be amazing if that applied to the world."
"Heh. Yes, I heard some islands move, what a strange world."
"Hey, you're part of this world," Ace sneered.
When she snorted and with her hand, she pushed his arm lightly, Ace chuckled softly so as not to alert the lookout on duty. When Sakura's hand touched Ace's arm, he felt her icy hand only then noticed that the tips of her fingers were starting to look red. By eating the fire fruit he was able to control the temperature of his body.
"It's very cold, you should go inside. You're going to get sick from wearing light clothes."
"How do you know? You are a man of fire."
"Oh, I know I'm hot, be careful or you'll get burned," he winked at her.
"Silly," Sakura muttered, rolling her eyes. Her smile betrayed that she had been amused by his answer. "I'm fine, I've endured the cold of the desert and slept under the snow."
"Enduring it is not the same as freezing, if Marco saw you he would scream in heaven and scold me," Ace said with a frown. After a while, a great idea occurred to him, with the help of his hands he dragged Sakura until their bodies touched at the ends, since his hands and arms were very cold, he raised his body temperature a little "Okay, so you don't freeze and I won't die in Marco's hands."
"Thank you," Sakura whispered letting out a sigh of relief, the warmth that emanated beginning to envelop her in a pleasant way. Having him by her side like a walking heater seemed very handy.
The two joined in a comfortable silence looking at the stars and the sound of the sea coming and going. With such peace and warmth coming from Ace's body, Sakura slowly began to close her eyes.
"Wait, Sakura-"
She heard him speak but she was so comfortable that her eyes closed against her will.
The murmurs of people who sounded far away gradually grew louder and louder until they began to wake her up.
'I fell asleep? How come I didn't wake up as soon as they got close?' she chided herself. Not since she was a genin had anything like this happened to her. Luckily, when she opened her eyes she found herself face to face with some of the commanders and crewmen who were standing a few steps away from her with mischievous smiles plastered on their faces. She was confident enough not to feel threatened by them since these days she understood that they do keep their promises, even so, she found it strange to see them all together.
"What's wrong?" Sakura asked, still in a sleepy voice. She felt so comfortable that she didn't want to stop.
"Did you sleep well?" Blamenco asked the commander of the 6th. division. Beside him, several of his companions chuckled quietly.
Sakura frowned, looking a little confused by the question until she heard a snoring next to her, when she turned to her right she realized that she was lying on Ace's side and her head was resting on his shoulder, the boy with freckles looked so comfortable like her that he even snored loudly.
"How come I didn't hear him snore?" Sakura wondered, amazed that his loud snores didn't wake her up.
She slowly straightened up without taking her eyes off the carefree Ace who was still unaware of the situation.
Now that her brain finally woke up, she realized the reason for the mischievous looks of the majority and the mocking tone that Blamenco used when asking her about the dream. Contrary to the image that Sakura had of pirates, the Whitebeard group whenever they were not involved in a fight against another group always made sure to break the pre-established schemes of them, until now. At this moment they didn't look like the rude and fearsome pirates that everyone seems to respect and fear, they looked like teenagers making fun of a "couple". The only one who seemed upset was Marco.
Of course, Sakura is a grown woman who wasn't going to blush like a schoolgirl, sleeping outdoors with a partner doesn't mean anything romantic. Much less being scared by Marco and his reproving look, it's similar to the one Tsunade gave her every time she didn't follow her medical recommendations, of course not.
"We just fell asleep," Sakura said, ignoring Marco's big vein that grew at her careless comment. To avoid being the target of her anger, she nudged Ace a couple of not too strong elbows until he woke up. It's not that she was scared.
"Is it time to eat yet?" Ace asked as soon as he opened his eyes until he saw several of his classmates surrounding them, "What? I just saw her outside and then we fell asleep."
"Just that?" Marco said aloud as his annoyance finally exploded. With one stride he stood in front of a pale Ace and pulled his ear, "if you saw her outside you should have made her go back to her room, with the cold last night she could have gotten sick, she is our guest."
Several crew members and Sakura laughed at Marco's speech about how careless Ace becomes without thinking about what's best for others.
Since then, Ace and Sakura got into the habit of going to Sakura's favorite place at night and seeing the stars in the sky, at all times -to Sakura's surprise- Ace kept awake asking about her previous life. Contrary to what he expected, it was nice to talk about Naruto, Ino, Tsunade and all of his household excluding great details. On some occasions when sleep won them over, they fell asleep outdoors.
From that first morning that Sakura woke up next to Ace, she began to suspect that Tatch had a secret mission to stuff her with food. In the mornings, he served Sakura a hearty meal that she ended up giving away to the others for being too much -Tatch ended up scolding the poor unfortunate man? which generally ended up being Ace-, at noon, he approached her to offer her a fruit juice and a dessert that was generally a flan or anmitsu -after he found out that it is her favorite dessert and he learned to make it thanks to some wano samurai- at lunchtime, he gave her a substantial meal, it was so much in her plate looked like a pile of food about to collapse -which almost always ended up eating Ace- in the afternoon, an appetizer always appeared that they offered and finally at dinner it was not so substantial but it was still a lot.
Every cause has a consequence, overeating took its toll.
Sakura's room was currently in chaos, the open drawers seemed to have vomited: clothes hanging from the drawers, some long and short dresses scattered all over the floor, pants and shorts hanging from some decorations, and the owner of the room standing in front of the mirror struggling with the zipper on the side of the dress that got caught halfway.
Her teeth ground in frustration as her hands tried by all means to get the zipper up without using so much force as to tear the dress borrowed from the girls. She tried to plunge the stomach, tried using a clone, among other options but nothing.
"I'm fat," she cried silently once she accepted that she wasn't going up anymore.
Although she discovered that eating helped restore her chakra and most of the calories were burned to generate more chakra, now that she has been without much movement, that energy has turned into fat. Of course, she had not reached her ideal weight, her wrists still looked very thin and her cheeks were still slightly sunken, but it is undeniable that she has spent it like a fattened pig for the Christmas party, moving from one seat to another and eating.
At that moment, her train of thought broke into a thousand pieces, her face turned blue as she looked down at the dress... She had not yet reached her average weight -the standard weight of a kunoichi with her height and age-, the dress belongs to Tato, she is skinny, she and the others who lent her clothes are skinny too. Only the pajamas fit Sakura.
In the country of fire and the other nations, Sakura was of average height, her waist was slim and even though her breasts are small, she didn't care much unless they went to the hot springs or Ino pointed it out to her. But, in the rest of the world, the women are taller than her de ella, thin, with a skinny torso and legs and very pronounced breasts.
"I can't go on like this, I have to exercise again," Sakura said to herself, renewing her determination. She took a couple of strides towards the infirmary where Marco and the nurses must have been waiting for her to do her daily checkup until she froze when she grabbed the doorknob.
The dress was not closed, Sakura only had her pajamas to wear, she already trusted these pirates to a certain extent but not enough to go out in a robe in front of a herd of testosterone. Her head fell gracelessly forward as her body became covered in a dark blue color.
"I can't go out like this." She'll have to wait for one of them to wonder why she hasn't gone out for her check-up or for Tatch to tell her that she needs to go out for breakfast and come over to ask for their help.
Last night she overheard Thatch and the cooks talking about how they were making fruit jam and very early today they would make fresh croissants to fill them with jam or butter. Realizing what she was thinking, she frantically wiped away the drool that began to drip from the corner of her mouth — No, this is not the time to think about food.
"Sakura, are you alright? You haven't gone to your check-up" From the other side of the door came Sakura's savior who was none other than Marco.
The door leading to Sakura's room opened slightly making Marco look curious, he normally had heard her answer or tell her to come in. Instead, a hand shot out from the crack and pulled him into the room until he found Sakura on the other side. The first thing that went through his mind was how Sakura managed to drag him off so easily when he reflexively put up resistance without success.
"It's good that you're here, I need your help."
"What happened?" The question in his mind was forgotten when he saw her in trouble.
From doctor to doctor -although one hid her identity as a doctor- Sakura was certain that Marco could help. The second she heard him call her name, it occurred to her that if she couldn't wear the girls' clothes because they didn't fit anymore then she would have to resort to the boys'.
Why did they have to be so damn tall? The shortest of all in the crew is 24 centimeters apart and it had to be none other than Ace, ultimately it is ruled out because first, she has never seen him in a shirt, did he even have clothes that covered his torso? and second, he's polite but sometimes reckless and she wasn't going to risk him saying something about the nurses' clothes not fitting her. Hence, the second shortest in height, although he was already over two meters, was Marco.
"I need you to lend me clothes," he muttered under his breath.
"What? I didn't hear you," Marco said.
Sakura took a deep breath.
"Since I'm gaining weight to reach my average weight and my complexion is different from Tato's and the others, the clothes they lent me don't fit anymore." She pointed to the zipper halfway up. It is not only important to gain weight but also to maintain good health, I can't spend all my time sitting and eating so I suggest doing a little exercise. While I get clothes suitable for my size, I was hoping you could lend me some shirts or slip-ons so I don't go out in nightwear.
She finished speaking, trying to appear as casual as possible, although the redness that ran from her cheeks to the tips of her ears said otherwise. Thanks to having to enter politics as Tsunade's student, Sakura had to learn to manage her shame and anger, she couldn't hit everything that comes her way so she learned the art of words that not only served her well in politics like right now.
"...Yes, I've noticed in your checkups you're gaining weight, that's good." The pink tint on her cheeks and ears turned red. "If you needed clothes, you should have said so before, we'll talk about the exercise now that I'm back with clothes."
Sakura walked through the corridors of the ship with a smile on her face, she was wearing one of Marco's long-sleeved purple shirts, she only had to hem the sleeves a little at the elbows so they wouldn't hang over her hands and a of the lycra of the nurses that due to the elasticity still remains. She felt like a winner because after Marco returned with a pile of clothes and she changed, Marco came back in and began to refute her that she should wait a little longer before exercising because of her injuries and poor diet, there Did you learn that Marco is the mother hen, or is he the mother phoenix? of the crew.
The heated debate ended with Sakura triumphing after agreeing to do low-impact exercises under Haruta and Vista's supervision. She went to have breakfast, very happy, a couple of croissants, and now she was in front of the gym.
Much of the crew that was not finished fixing the ship or doing any activity on the island, was in this big spacious place with no doors, in the center there was a fighting ring and around various exercise tools of different sizes to adapt to the heights of the crew.
"Ah, Pinky, Marco told us that you wanted to train," Haruta said, noticing the pinkhead at the entrance.
"He commissioned us to take care of you," Vista said, Sakura pouted because that meant they were going to make sure she didn't do anything heavy or dangerous. "But we're not nannies, two are more than enough."
Along with a laugh Haruta pointed at the freckled black-haired boy currently doing weights.
"Who said, babysitter?" Ace growled when he heard them speak to him. He put the weight back in place and looked around for the target of his beating until he saw Vista and Haruta next to Sakura.
"Hey Sakura, what are you doing at the gym?" Ace said happily. He took note of taking revenge on another occasion on his two companions for calling him a babysitter.
Several of those who were there exercising stopped when they were curious as to why the pinkhead was in this area that she had not frequented before, they all knew that her recurring places were the dining room, her room, the infirmary, and the deck.
"I can't just sit around doing nothing all day… what? Why do you look at me like that?" She had to lean her torso back as Ace leaned into her and looked her up and down.
"Is that Marco's shirt?"
"What's wrong with it? It's just a shirt, I don't think there's anything wrong with a colleague lending me his clothes" She slightly wrinkled her nose.
"No, it's just weird, Marco always brings his shirts unbuttoned, it's weird to see the buttons buttoned"
"I'm not going to walk on the boat with my shirt open, I'm not like most of you who walk bare-chested or shirtless," some of the observers coughed after imagining her semi-naked. all to divert attention "I'm a woman, I'm not a pervert."
"How did we come to this?" Ace said in a bad mood, he had only said that it was strange to see Marco's shirt closed. "Aren't you a pervert? I have seen that sometimes you stare at our bodies when we fight or walk!"
The boys murmured to each other laughing, some agreed, not that it bothered their egos. On the other hand, Sakura's cheeks caught fire, she was about to explode like she always does -Naruto is usually the target-. No one has ever called her perverted without living to tell the tale.
"It's not what you're thinking!" she yelled at the top of her lungs. "On my island, it's not common for men to be so uncovered! I-I was just wondering why they are so different anatomically speaking to the people of my town.
And she talked about everyone on her island. Only people who have reached Kakashi's age or a bit younger are that their muscles look defined, yes they were strong but their muscles weren't that defined.
"You're so weird." Right now he could feel Makino looking at him reproachfully for not following the lessons of being polite, in his defense she began. "How did talking about Marco's shirt end up in this? Oh wait, the clothes were getting too tight on you. Is that why you're wearing Marco's now? It's a little big on you, but I'm not surprised, you're very small."
The men stepped back. Some of the men behind Sakura's back started gesturing for Ace to stop talking. There were words that every man, or at least most, knew were forbidden to say to a woman.
"No, it's just that you're different, the women I've seen are slim around the waist and very small back, their legs are very long but also thin and they have a lot of front" he continued talking as she asked him. If she had observed them, he did so with her, "You have small breasts, your waist is not slim but it makes a good curve, your legs are thick and your butt is round. You don't look like you're going to break in two and that's good.
Sakura's fist shot out at Ace who in a blink disappeared. Those present looked in the direction of Sakura's fist and there was Ace embedded in the wall.
"IM not fat! Idiot!" Sakura yelled, her face like a bluff. Just what she wanted to avoid since she tried on her dress, Ace said, and was very graphic when comparing her to the others.
She stomped out of the gym and shot menacing looks so no one would dare say a word if they didn't want to end up as a wall hanging with Ace.
"Ace, you're an idiot," Vista said. Makino taught her manners but it seems she skipped over how to treat a woman and on a ship full of men that didn't help.
As soon as he managed to get out of the wall, Ace looked at the hole in the wall in astonishment, even his anger left him with a tremendous blow that he received.
"How is she so strong?" Is that her devil's fruit?
The others patted their faces.
"We have to teach you some lessons," Izou said.
Sakura reached the deck, and on the way she ran into Whitebeard sunbathing with his bottle of alcohol in hand and the girls around him. They looked so animated talking that he didn't feel like getting closer.
"Sakura? What's going on?" Tato asked when she noticed her.
Since she couldn't run away, she had no choice but to get closer and try to hide her anger as much as possible, but when she saw the girls she felt down.
"Ace is a fool," she muttered under her breath.
Unlike Sakura's mood, Whitebeard took it with amusement.
"Now what did my son do for you to be like this?" asked Whitebeard.
Sakura struggled a bit to keep her mouth shut but thanks to Whitebeard's insistence she ended up telling about her diet, the dresses, her weight, the clothes Marco lent her and finally the incident with Ace at the gym.
"Of course, you're not fat," said Tato. "You are still gaining the weight you have lost and now that you are gaining it you are looking prettier."
That didn't help her at all.
"B-but he's right, I'm not like you, you're very tall, I'm a dwarf next to you and my body is different," Sakura said
"The dwarves are very small," said another of the nurses. What does it matter if we are different? On your island, you were not similar to other women?
Sakura decided to ignore that dwarves existed here and nodded carefully. In the talk, the girls' relationship with Sakura in an unexpected way thanks to Ace, improved and they even felt closer.
Next to him, Whitebeard laughed again carefree and happy to see that they were getting along well and the evolution that Sakura has had since she arrived with them, now she is more open, the captain hoped to continue seeing how this was going to end.
"Ace is just a nineteen year old brat."
He couldn't keep talking because his nurses lashed out saying that he shouldn't indulge and justify Ace's actions so much and that he is at the age to learn how to treat ladies. Whitebeard began to sweat.
"We are pirates and I have many children to care for," He murmured.
He couldn't keep talking because his nurses lashed out saying that he shouldn't coddle and justify Ace's actions so much and that he is at the age to learn how to treat ladies. Whitebeard began to sweat.
"We are pirates and I have many children to care for," He murmured.
"Bullshit, drinking whenever I want won't hurt my body," Whitebeard said.
"You should listen to them," Sakura said with a half smile, it's not the first time that the nurses tell him and he denies drinking less.
"It seems that now I'm going to have someone else scolding me for how I drink." Although White Beard used a tone of annoyance, no part of his face reflected that emotion.
"Sakura," the nurse with dark hair tied up in a bun took her hands, "you're beautiful the way you are, don't let the crew's careless comments hurt you."
"For so long among men, they forget what it's like to treat a woman," said a redhead.
"You just have to dress up a bit more, maybe some makeup, new clothes, and you'll see what we see."
The others clamored to agree.
Sakura's eyes widened. The idea of taking a little more care of her physical appearance had not crossed her mind.
"Be more feminine," Sakura murmured. She flashed back to the last time she and Ino started talking about her looks.
"Gosh, forehead, why don't you just put on some mascara?" Ino grumbled. In her hands, she carried some papers that she had to review with Sakura about the children's clinic that they opened.
"Ino, I've said that many times already," Sakura grimaced as soon as they entered the office, dropping the battery she was carrying heavily on the table. "I barely have time with surgeries at the hospital and work at the clinic. Tsunade-shishou helps us but I have to run around and help Shizune look for her because she's hiding to drink, I also make sure that Kakashi keeps his butt in front of the desk and doesn't run away from his Hokage duties, I go to training with the team seven and our missions. Why am I going to put on makeup? That this effort ends up stained with dirt and blood? Also, these clothes are more comfortable to go from one side to another."
The blonde left the papers on the table, turned her body towards her best friend's and placed her hands on her hips.
"Those are pure excuses, you have nothing to prove to anyone. You can send a genin or even a chunnin or the Hokage's guards to keep Kakashi in his seat, surgeries aren't as problematic as you make it out to be and team seven hardly gets together anymore because everyone is so busy…," Ino's anger evaporated when she saw the pain reflected on Sakura's face "Sakura, I don't-"
Sakura raised her hand in front of Ino's face.
"Okay, I know perfectly well that each one of us has been very focused on our duties. Yamato watches Orochimaru, Kakashi with his Hokage duties, Naruto training to become Hokage, Sai works together with Kakashi to reform the ANBU, and Sasuke on his endless travels. I think we're workaholics." She forced herself to smile.
Since that fight, they never talked about her making an effort to fix her appearance. Maybe listening to her best friend wouldn't be bad, no more missions, work in the hospital and clinic or work in the Hokage tower. Now her hair was down to her waist, something she hadn't done since her days as a genin. She put her hand to her hair and played with it.
"Since I was twelve I cut my hair to shoulder length until a few months ago when I stopped doing it... Back then I did it to show that I'm not a weak kunoichi so that others don't underestimate me." Sakura said with a sad and nostalgic tone, a sea of melancholic emotions reflected in her eyes "I began to train seriously and over time makeup, dresses and women's clothing stopped being important because I only thought about being at the level of my boys."
Whitebeard and the nurses stared at her, not daring to speak, not when she was clearly thinking of the dead. Only when she came to and gave them a shy smile did the nurses come to her side.
Tato put her hand on Sakura's shoulder. "Then this is the best time to start, right?"
The nurses' encouragement slowly began to soak into Sakura. Her past will always be part of her present, and now, her present will be her new future. A new image would be convenient now that she has made the decision to face this wide world.
"I accept suggestions," she said shyly.
Some of the nurses squealed with excitement, giving a woman a makeover when on a ship of men was refreshing. Some of them began to gossip about clothing styles, the colors that suit her best, the makeup she should wear and going to visit the clothing stores in the city.
"Wait," Sakura said a little overwhelmed, interrupting the girls, "it sounds fantastic but maybe we can do it with clothes you don't wear anymore or even with the boys."
Whitebeard and the nurses stared at him. Sakura's cheeks flushed slightly red.
"I don't have money, and even if I had it in my village, I say island, we didn't handle berries but ryo, I don't know how to handle prices and although we speak the same language my writing is different from yours so I don't know how to read and write..."
The first day they arrived on the island, like almost everyone else, ecstatic, she went down to the mainland, walked through the cobbled streets admiring the design of the city, from the structure of the houses to the clothing of the people, everything went well until that Sakura arrived at the bustling shopping area where people came and went, people promoting their casinos, another area like the market with people shouting their promotions and the huge windows showing the quieter but no less elegant shops.
As it is a city full of casinos, she understood that people with little wealth even people with plenty of money would come, but the insistence of some vendors overwhelmed her when they showed her their products with the price tag or handed out papers with products or promotions that Sakura could not. read. She did not last more than an hour when she returned to the ship with the excuse that nothing caught her attention.
"You don't need used clothes," said Whitebeard. "When I invited you to my ship I knew you didn't have a single berries, your expenses will be on me." You will learn to use berries in your purchases with my nurses and reading and writing can be arranged when you return.
Before Sakura refused because she was already getting so much from them, the nurses covered her mouth and said thanks on her behalf. A couple of nurses went to take money from the coffers of the strongest captain in the world and then for their bags to go to the city.
Luckily for them, when they dragged Sakura away, Marco, Ace and others were joining Whitebeard so they entrusted the commander of the first division with Shirohige's health because they were going out.
"What happened?" Marco asked, intrigued.
"Women, that's what happens," Whitebeard said animatedly, he loves being with his children but having the pinkhead on his boat took everyone out of their routine. He chuckled softly as he saw his youngest son next to Marco. "Ace you are a fool."
Ace complained some laughed, and Marco didn't need more to know that the nurses had a plan in their hands.
As Whitebeard gave them the day off to accompany Sakura to buy new clothes, in a group they went from store to store trying on each item of clothing they had, from underwear to hats and sunglasses, looking for good makeup, perfumes and skin care products. fur. Meanwhile, the nurses explained to Sakura when a product was cheap when a product was expensive, and if a vendor was cheating by inflating the products.
If old Sakura had agreed, she would only have entered the first store, chosen the most practical clothes for her daily life and would have returned to do her things, instead here she had fun with them trying on clothes, posing for and with them and even left that in aesthetics they would do whatever they wanted with her as long as they didn't cut her hair, she still didn't feel ready to count more than the ends.
Most of the crew that was not in charge of fixing the ship, were gathered on the deck, laughing and drinking while telling anecdotes about their trips until they heard the laughter of women, shortly after the nurses and Sakura appeared with multiple bags in their arms. The captain and his crew saw them walk until they disappeared into the stairs leading into the ship. In the short time that the pirates saw them, they noticed that they were all very happy and that somehow Sakura's face looked fresher and brighter.
It wasn't long before they went back up. The redheaded nurse cleared her throat to get everyone's attention.
"Captain, commanders, and pirates," Tato said, "introducing the new Sakura Haruno.
The eyes of several widened as Sakura pushed past the nurses. Her long hair was tied almost at the bottom, her face had been made up to highlight her eyes and a transparent lip gloss, she put on earrings and now she was dressed in a white and red long-sleeved top that exposed her flat abdomen and at the bottom she wore a hip-length skirt that matched the top.
"Hello," she greeted, feeling a little self-conscious by the stares at her.
The spell on the men was broken and several began to comment on how good he looked. Sakura wasn't used to this kind of attention so her blush deepened.
"If only I were 30 years younger," Thatch said humorously.
"Be my girlfriend!" Teach yelled from the back.
Many laughed.
"Thatch is right, why don't you try having an adventure on the island?" asked the redheaded nurse. Some of the crew booed the idea.
"A-an affair?"
"Yeah, every pirate has that kind of adventure," another of the nurses said with a shrug.
"I'm not a pirate."
"But having fun never hurts" Tato winked at her
Sakura looked around her. It's embarrassing enough that the entire crew sees her change that they also listen to her recommendations to find a date to hang out with. A one-night stand has never been her thing.
"If you don't want to go find a poor kid, don't insist," Vista said.
Sakura saw that several of the commanders agreed and even Whitebeard. She was about to thank them for supporting her until her gaze met Ace's, who was looking her up and down, at that moment the bad mood that she thought had disappeared revived like a phoenix when she remembered that it was because of him that all this started, he told her she said fat and weird. Ace kept looking at her oblivious to the kunoichi's thoughts.
The girls sensed the anger and took advantage.
"Why don't you try it?"
"You will see how more than one will look at you when passing"
Sakura looked at them warily. The girls were not going to give up. It's not like it's the first time she flirts, it's just that speaking of dating history, she doesn't have the brightest record of all…
"A woman has her beauty as her weapon. Show you-know-who is wrong about you-know-what."
Not to mention more. They had convinced her.
"Okay," Sakura said walking back to the village with her friends following close behind.
"Teach what to whom?" Ace asked. He was just as confused as the younger ones.
The more experienced ones laughed because they understood what the women were talking about and understood that they used their magic to end up convincing Sakura.
"That's called a woman's pride," Whitebeard told his youngest son and the cause of all this development.
They couldn't miss this free entertainment so several of the Whitebeard pirates decided to follow the girls to see how this will end
Note: Sakura at this point in the story is 19 because I want to give Sakura a little more time with the Whitebeard pirates before she meets up with Luffy and his friends.
