Disclaimer: I don't own anything but Phoenix and Nox

"Together, there are six of you?" Tsezgerra asked the group.

Once the six had landed in front of Tsezgerra and another man who was obviously in his group, they let Goreinu explain everything that had happened and why they needed their help. Goreinu seemed to be most level headed between them all and was the most likely to convince Tsezgerra to work with them so he was chosen to explain everything to them and extend the offer to join them.

"Yeah, this is all of us," Goreinu answered.

"There are two others in my group," said Tsezgerra before snapping his fingers signalling two men to come out of the trees from where they were hiding. "This only gives us a total of ten. Where do you plan to find the rest?"

"We'll need fifteen numbers, right?" the unnamed man asked.

"We can use stand-ins for the remaining five. Invite players who want to return to the real world but can't," Goreinu said revelling their strategy,

"They won't be able to help, but they won't care about receiving cards, either," Killua agreed.

"Meaning that the ten of us will have to win the contests," Tsezgerra said understanding what the group was thinking. "I don't know how strong our opponents are, but can we?"

"We can," Goreinu said confidently. "Even if we can't manage eight wins, we're allowed to switch members and try again."

"So, whether we can win depends on you guys," Killua said arrogantly and Phoenix knew where he was going with his statement and couldn't stop the amused smirked from creeping onto her face. "Show us your Ren. We'll decide if we want you afterwards."

"I see our roles have been reversed. Very well, here I go," said Tsezgerra amused. The tall man crouched down on the tips of his toes; arms still crossed.

Phoenix watched closely as Tsezgerra gathered his nen at his feet before he suddenly grunted loudly and leaped into the air. Phoenix let out a shocked gasp as Gon shouted in excitement.

"Awesome!" Killua praised in excitement.

Tsezgerra laughed as the three stared at him impressed. "If I use my full strength, I can fly higher," he bragged. "My record is sixteen meters, eighty centimetres," Tsezgerra was cut off when the trio crouched and gathered nen at their feet, just as he had done moments ago.

Tsezgerra could do nothing but gape as the three jumped into the air, almost breaking his record on their first try.

"Ha ha, I win," Killua said smugly, higher than Gon and Phoenix. Phoenix was a little lower than Gon and noted that she needed to use more nen next time.

Phoenix laughed loudly as Gon tried to get higher by flapping his arms like a bird.

"I am impressed," Tsezgerra admitted once he landed on the ground. "Although you still fall a bit short of my full height."

"Okay! Let's go again!" Gon said instantly, he needed to beat Killua, he already beat Phoenix.

"No way," said Killua. "You won't stop until you win."

"I want to do it one more time, too," Phoenix admitted with a mischievous glint in her eye.

"Oh, you passed," Killua said absently when Tsezgerra stood up. "Nice jump."

"One more!" Gon insisted.

"Fine," Killua relented.

Together the three crouched down but this time Phoenix made sure to use more nen then last time. When they jumped Phoenix was very pleased with herself when she saw that was a few inches higher than Killua, much to his annoyance. Gon was the lowest this time. Once they had landed on the ground again Gon insisted that they go again. Killua refused, a little bitter that Phoenix was able to go higher than him. Phoenix was giving Killua puppy dogs eyes, she wanted to go again, she loved the feel of the wind her hair. She was a little surprised her fear of heights wasn't coming to the surface but decided she didn't care because she was having fun.

The three stopped arguing when the silver haired man on Tsezgerra's team suddenly exclaimed: "Hey, this is bad!"

"What is it?" Tsezgerra asked.

"Team Genthru is up to ninety-seven cards," the silver haired man explained much to everyone's shock.

'That means they're only missing Patch of Shore and Lucky Alexandrite! We need to hurry and find extra players before they figure out how to get Patch of Shore!' Phoenix thought to herself.

Over the next week the group trained together and gathered the five remainder players they needed and all they needed to do was offer them a way to get out of the game after they had won the card. The five weren't anything important and were quite weak but they were just there for the numbers, they didn't actually need them.

Once they had gathered everyone they needed and Tsezgerra was happy with the process of their training they used Accompany to go back to Soufrabi where they now stood in front of the pirate's home base on the cliff.

"Over the past week, we've run various simulations and have prepared accordingly. Given team Genthru's current situation, we can't afford to lose," Tsezgerra explained to everyone as some sort of pep talk.

"We have to win!" Gon agreed.

"Yes, we'll win," Bisky said confidently.

"Okay, let's go," Goreinu said, getting everyone to follow him as he started toward the base.

Getting inside the base the pirates recongized Goreinu and the four friends and were quick to begin the matches again.

"We'll begin with boxing," Razor, the head pirate stated, standing inside the boxing ring.

"I'll send you packing," the boxing pirate said smugly as the blonde man in Tsezgerra's team stood in the opposite corner warming up.

"His special ability is teleportation," Killua told the blonde man.

"He can teleport his uppercut," Gon added.

"You just need to be faster than him and get in close," Phoenix advised as Nox gave a small roar as his way of cheering.

The trio watched as the match begun and the blonde man quickly dashed into the boxing pirates' space, not giving him a chance to think before he starting to punch him, not giving him a chance to do anything but guard. It didn't take the blonde man very long to knock the pirate out and win the match.

"The winner is Barry!" Razor announced, finally letting Phoenix know what the blonde man's name was.

"Yes!" Gon cheered.

The next match was bowling, which was won by a landslide by another one of Tsezgerra's men, Rodriot. Then it was Basketball and Kess, another man form Tsezgerra's team was the winner.

"Yes!" Killua grinned.

"That's three wins!" Gon cheered.

"Almost there!" Phoenix exclaimed.

"Wait!" The fat pirate suddenly called out gaining everyone's attention but it seemed like he was talking to Razor only. "I'm done following your orders. I'll be doing things my own way now."

Phoenix watched as the pirate threw his little hat on the ground to reveal a bald head.

'Looks like there's going to be a mutiny,' Phoenix thought.

'I don't think so, focus on Razors nen it's agitated, he's annoyed with the pirate,' Tarkar said.

Phoenix concentrated on Razor's nen just as Tarkar had told her and realized he was telling the truth. Razor seemed to be annoyed that someone was trying to go against him and rebel, it made Phoenix curious about how he was going to handle the situation.

"Hey, brat! Let's step outside!" The pirate screamed at Killua, obviously he wanted a to kill Killua for embarrassing him twice.

"Outside? Do you think this a sumo ring?" Killua asked him cheekily, looking to rile him up further then he was.

"I'm done playing around," the pirate said. "Want me to kill you here?"

Phoenix stepped in front on Killua slightly with a glare, ready to deal with the pirate for threatening her boyfriend. Nox jumped back onto Killua's shoulder and hissed at the pirate.

The pirate that had brought them to their base the first time they were there stepped forward to stop the fat pirate.

"Hey, Bobobo!" he said, grabbing Bobobo's arm.

Phoenix and Killua both snorted quietly at the fat pirates name but they made sure they were quiet so they could hear what was happened before them.

"That's a violation of our agreement," Razor suddenly said. "Want to go back to the slammer, Bobobo?"

'The slammer? These pirates are criminals,' Phoenix said suddenly wary of the men in front of her, they wouldn't cause them too much trouble if they needed to deal with them but it was better to keep her guard up in case, they tried something.

"I don't give a damn!" Bobobo screamed. "I'm done playing this stupid game! Anyone else with me?" Bobobo suddenly asked the rest of the pirates. "If we team up, we can crush that bastard. And then we can use a ship to get off this island!"

Phoenix and her friends all watched as Razor created a ball of red nen in his palm and throw it at Bobobo. Phoenix gasped and was pulled back behind Killua when the ball of nen hit Bobobo in the face and his head exploded from the force.

"You'll be punished for breaking the taboo. Didn't I warn you?" Razor said calmly.

"Y-yes, you did…" the pirate that tried to stop Bobobo said nervously.

"Did that idiot think I wouldn't kill him?" Razor asked rhetorically.

Phoenix could feel the tension coming from the group behind her, she knew that the people that they had brought with them had lost all their resolve and would flee at the first change they got but Phoenix couldn't bring herself to blame them, they were weak.

"Okay, I'll go next," Razor announced, approaching the group as if he didn't just kill one of his men.

"Hey, this looks bad," one of the extra players suddenly said, just as Phoenix thought they would. "We can't fight those guys…"

"No, hold on. We'll be doing the fighting." Goreinu said trying to convince them to stay and help them.

"We explained how this works," Tsezgerra said, helping Goreinu to convince them but it wasn't helping at all, the group was just as terrified as before. "If the nine of us cannot secure eight victories, you can just forfeit without fighting."

"Really?" one of them asked nervously.

"You guarantee we won't have to fight?" another asked just as nervous as the other.

Phoenix rolled her eyes; how did these guys even make it into the game if they were this cowardly and weak?

"Yeah, don't worry," Tsezgerra said.

"Can I ask something?" Killua asked getting everyone's attention. "That's guy's dead. What about the sumo match?"

"Hmm? Oh, you get the win," Razor said nonchalantly.

"But we never decided who we were sending," Killua continued.

Phoenix couldn't help sweat dropping; Killua was the one who was supposed to participate in the sumo match.

"I don't care who you give the win to. Just give it to one of the guys standing in the back," said Razor.

Killua turned to look at the group in the back and pointed to the one in the stripped top. "Okay, you get the sumo win," Killua said to the guy's immense relief. "That gives us four wins."

Phoenix watched as a couple pirates started to drag Bobobo's headless body out of the gym.

"Now, then… I'll go with an eight-on-eight game of dodgeball," Razor announced.

Phoenix watched in awe as Razor's nen surrounded him and seven portals opened on the ground behind him. Seven faceless humanoid creatures came out of the portals, they were all wearing the same hats the pirates were wearing and all of them have large, sharp tooth grins. On the shirts were the numbers one-seven. Phoenix could feel the strong nen coming from all of them.

"Pick the eight members you'll field. I already have mine," Razor said cockily.

"Hold on…" Goreinu said, stepping forward, "How is this scored?"

"It's on win per person, right?" Barry asked.

"Yes, one win per person," Razor confirmed. "So, the victorious team receives eight wins. Simple enough, yes?"

"So, that was the plan?" Tsezgerra said.

"I'm against this…" one of the extra players said scared, "If we have to field eight, you need two more!"

"I'm not fighting that guy!" another one whined.

"I'm leaving now…" said the tallest one.

Phoenix couldn't help but roll her eyes at the extra players. This was supposed to be a game for Hunters, how did they even get their hands on the game to be able to enter? They were so weak it was laughable.

"Once the match begins, you can deliberately let yourself be hit- " Barry said, trying to calm them down but Phoenix knew it was a waste of time.

"Screw that!" extra number one exclaimed.

"Didn't you see that?" extra number two said. "If he hits us with that ball, we're dead!"

"Oh, just so everything is clear, we'll be using a normal ball," Razor said, holding a yellow and black ball in his hand. "But with nen, it's just as strong as the nen projectile I launched earlier."

"This is crazy… I'm outta here!" extra number three stuttered, backing away.

"Sorry, but I don't want to die yet…" extra number four agreed.

"H-hold on!" Killua suddenly said, trying to stop them. "We'll think of something real quick."

"We'll do this by ourselves," Gon suddenly said. If our lives are on the line, we should only field willing players. Do you have a problem if we only field seven?" Gon asked Razor.

"Yeah, actually, I can't let you do that…" Razor admitted. "You will have to field eight members. Otherwise, why ask you to recruit fifteen?"

"Saying this to an in-game character is probably pointless, but wasn't Bobobo one of your allies? What did he do to deserve death?"

"None of them are in-game characters," Phoenix said, shocking everything.

"What do you mean?" Bisky asked.

"The young girl is right. Bobobo committed burglary-murder and rape-murder. Eleven confirmed counts alone," Razor said, shocking everyone again.

"This is the real world," Hisoka confirmed.

"This place, Greed Island, is located somewhere in the real world," Tsezgerra explained. "This game takes place in the real world."

This shocked even Phoenix, she didn't realise they were still in the real world and not inside a game, she only knew that Razor and his gang of pirates weren't in game characters.

"Revealing that information to a player who believe they're inside a game is a taboo," Tsezgerra continued. "Bobobo was executed for breaking that taboo. This guy, Razor, is a Game Master, a real human."

"Game Master?" Gon asked curiously.

"One of the people who made this game," Tsezgerra said.

"So, he's basically a Boss," Phoenix noted, Tsezgerra nodded.

"Huh?" Gon gasped. "Wait, then…"

"Bobobo and the other pirates are real death row criminals," Tsezgerra said. "Not only did he disobey orders; he attempted to instigate an escape. Execution was a fair consequence."

'I wonder what the others did to end up on death row?" Phoenix thought to herself.

"This is the real world?" Gon asked, still trying to wrap his head around that fact.

"That is correct," Hisoka said.

"I never noticed," Killua admitted.

"I hadn't even considered that," Bisky said.

"It does make sense," Phoenix mumbled.

The sound of a ball bouncing brought everyone's attention back to Razor.

"Well, it doesn't really matter. Since this island is still isolated from the rest of the world," Razor said.

"Wait a second," Gon said. "If this is the real world, does that mean that Ging is here, on Greed Island?"

Phoenix watched as Razors normally smiling face turned shocked and narrowed her eyes. Razor obviously knew Ging. It would make sense since Ging made the game, he must have chosen the Game Masters as well. Phoenix guessed that Razor wasn't expecting any of them to know about Ging.

"Ging?" Goreinu asked, not knowing who Ging was.

"Ah… So, you much be Gon," Razor mused before activating his ren when Gon confirmed he was, setting everyone on edge. "I was instructed not to go easy on you by your old man."

Phoenix raised and eyebrow at that. The more she found out about Ging the more shady he seemed to become. She noticed that Gon was starting to smile and she knew that the brown eyed boy was getting more excited to play against Razor.

"I've had enough…" tall extra suddenly said, making Phoenix realised she completely forgot about the weak players in the back. "I don't wanna die!"

"Count me out! I'm gone!" extra number two said as he followed the tall extra out of the gym with the rest of the weak players not far behind them.

"H-hey!" one of Tsezgerra's men tried to stop them but it was useless.

"It's okay, let them leave," Goreinu said.

"But then we can't have a match!" Tsezgerra's man said.

"I'll count as two," Goreinu stated as he activated his nen. Behind him a portal opened and a gorilla with pure white fur came out and stood behind him. "You're doing the same thing, so it shouldn't be a problem," Goreinu said to Razor.

"Yeah, that's fine," Razor agreed. "Now, it's eight-on-eight."

Phoenix couldn't help but admire Goreinu's nen ability. It was unique and something she never would have through of. Gorillas were a very strong animal but not a lot of people would have thought of using them as a nen ability and to able to conquer them was an amazing feat.

"I'll explain the rules," Razor said. "The game starts with one outside player and seven inside. The first team to run out of inside players loses. Any player inside the court who's hit by a ball thrown by an opponent is out, and must move outside. However, you may bring one player inside the court again by saying 'Back.' And if the ball hits an area outside the court, without any players, the opposing team gets the ball. Now, the important stuff… The rules regarding hits employ a cushion effect. For example, if I throw the ball and it hits opposing player A, ricochets, and hits opposing player B before hitting the floor, both A and B are out. But if player B in that scenario is able to catch the ball, player A is out. But if I throw the ball and it hits opposing player A, ricochets, and hits my teammate, player C, before hitting the floor, only player C is out."

"Then, if player C catches the ball, does that mean Player A is out?" Goreinu asked.

"Indeed," Razor confirmed.

"Uh…" And there goes Gon overheating his brain again.

"Do you have a question?" Razor asked seeing Gons situation.

"If an outside player hits someone with the ball, is the hit player out?" Killua asked.

"Naturally, they're out," Razor said. "But only on player can return to the court using Back."

"I'm guessing that inside players must stay inside and if they step out of the court, they're out?" Phoenix asked.

"Indeed," Razor nodded before throwing the ball to one of his nen devils on the sidelines, it was the only one of his devils that was blue.

"I am Number 0, the ref. Let's have a clean game," it said once it caught the ball. "We will not begin the game."

It was decided that Goreinu's gorilla would be the outside player and was made to stand behind Razors team with one on Razor's devils standing behind their team. Phoenix was going to be the one to jump for the ball when the game started.

Phoenix bent her knees and gathered nen at her feet, just like when they recruited Tsezgerra a week ago. She glared at the devil in front of her as the ref came over to start the game.

"Ready… Go!"
