A/N: Missing scene from S02E01.
After Shiv returns from her talk with their dad and goes over to whisper to Tom, Kendall gets up and heads for the bathroom. He needs to be away from his siblings and all their inane chatter. He needs to think.
Before he can close the bathroom door, Roman blocks it and slips in behind him. "So, me and Shiv, we've figured out what's going on."
Kendall stares at him. "Uh huh." Maybe they have, maybe they've put two and two together about the night of the wedding.
"You blackmailed Dad, right? You go against the takeover and he appoints you as CEO?"
If he was still capable of laughter he would find that quite funny. "No. I didn't blackmail him."
Something about the way he says it makes Roman look at him funny. "Okay. So did he blackmail you?" Kendall looks away, Roman is smarter than he looks. "What does he have on you? I mean, we all know you're a coked-up piece of shit—"
Before he can continue, Kendall breaks into a sob. He covers his face. It's finally sinking in what Colin told him earlier, he was still alive I could have saved him—
Roman looks alarmed. "Hey. Hey." He comes closer, putting his arms around him. "Kenny. I was just kidding." He holds Kendall's head against his shoulder like he's the older brother. Kendall wants to clutch at him, to drown in him. He sinks to the floor, Roman sliding down beside him.
"Just tell me what the fuck's going on," says Roman, looking at him intently. "Come on. You're talking to the guy who just oversaw the great rocket explosion. You can tell me. Why'd you really back out of the takeover?"
He could tell him, he could tell his brother the truth right here. It wouldn't change anything but he would feel less alone. He might even feel better.
"I just—" He fumbles for the right words, remembers the party line. "I — I saw their plan, and Dad's plan was better."
Roman stares at him, concern turning to anger. "Fuck you." He gets up and storms out, leaving the bathroom door swinging behind him.
