A series of drabbles themed around Chopin's Etudes. My first drabbles! They will be imperfect (not exactly 100 words) but I'll keep it between 100 and 150, not counting notes and comments. Reeling from a poor competition outcome, Shuhei retreats to his family's remote mansion. There, he discovers a mysterious piano with a link to the past. He begins to correspond with 19th-century Kai, who teaches him to love the piano. Based on a tumblr poem (link in author's notes). Tuberculosis and Major Character Death. After Shuhei Amamiya is eliminated just before the finals of the International Chopin Competition, he lashes out at his friend and rival Kai Ichinose. Amamiya agonizes over how to apologize and his feelings for his rival. Follows roughly the same plot as the anime but a deeper dive into Amamiya's POV, plus some sweet and teary hugs. Kai returns to Japan after years of living and studying abroad to compete in a Piano Concours. There he secretly hopes to meet up with a certain girl with whom he parted on a bad foot a few years before.
