This is a continuation of the story, Martin and Louisa. Please read that first. Buffalo Pictures own the rights to everything in the Doc Martin universe. In writing this I do not seek to gain, financially, but write only to amuse.

All things will end. Martin must deal with the aftermath of a number of things and some will take him far from his comfort zone.

Following the doctor's advice, no matter how galling or rude that advice may be immediately after a kiss, Louisa gets herself a check-up. In the process, the relationship between the doctor and the schoolteacher gets examined as well.

During the holidays both memory and anticipation of the event can make us live outside of time - at least in our heads.

Before the Doc came to Portwenn, there was a backstory. The journey from surgeon to general practitioner was not straight forward.

It's Christmas post S9 and old familiar faces cannot resist the lure of Christmas in Portwenn. The Ellinghams are getting ready too, (well, some of them at least) when an unexpected incident puts the entire village into an uproar.

This story is set sometime around late Series 8, before Martin has to go before the General Medical Council for the hearing about patient complaints. It takes place in an alternate timeline that follows my previous stories "Louisa Glasson and the Green Mermaid" and "Doc Martin: the Movie."

Just as things start to get cozy between bride and groom with a good fire, an open bottle of champagne, and some kissing, it becomes clear that the smoke is not going up the chimney, but rather into the room. Thus begins their honeymoon night trek in a tale of how things might have been.
