Nepu May Cry: Primal-Omega

Chapter 1: Your Legacy

Lilac Heart and Uni landed down near what was once a tall mountain, now reduced to an elevated beach, the two stood in morbid awe as what was once the proud nation of Leanbox had been consumed entirely by a sea of blood left by the Dreadnaught. Once a nation filled with desires hopes and dreams now reduced to nothing more than a drowning memory. The high intensity of blood started to break into the atmosphere, and even the sky above mirrored the color of the ocean it juxtaposed.

A small tear left Uni's eye as she curled up and looked into the bleak horizon, a small glint of moonlight rose in the distance, illuminating the hundreds of thousands of corpses and ruined buildings floating beneath the sea. Nepgear flinched as Uni gagged with and hurled at the sight. This was the result of her nation, the nation she served. The complete and utter annihilation of its rival country.

"I'm so sorry!" Uni yelled at herself as she dug her face into her arms. She repeated it over and over, Nepgear standing in sorrow alongside her.

Nepgear, unknowing of what to say, did something she never thought she'd ever find herself doing. She knelt down and wrapped her arms around Uni, who paused for a second, turned to see Nepgear resting her head on her shoulder, and she leaned back into her.

The two were silent for a long while.

~1 years later, the Blood Sea~

Nepgear fiddled around with her handgun, it was the only thing that could keep her mind off of her anxiety. Ever since that day, the day Gamindustri ended, they agreed to come back here one year later. She sat back onto the mat, completely disassembling her handgun. She took a long look at all the parts laid across from each other and closed her eyes. With a long and heavy breath, she reassembled the handgun in seconds and fired a shot across the ocean, the bullet flew far, slowly dropping across the distance until it finally submerged into the water.

"You really shouldn't do that. The dead don't need to be disturbed." Nepgear rapidly picked herself of from the ground and dusted off her jacket and short skirt. Uni, who was across from Nepgear, was in a far more professional outfit, her dress shirt was fitted with a blue tie, and on top of the shirt were suspenders which held up her skirt which seemed to be parted into two and overlapped each other, the lower right half donned with the old symbol of Lastation and the upper left with a hexagonal pattern. On her right mechanical arm was an armband with the symbol of the Planeptune Federation, and on her left were black fingerless gloves. With her right mechanical arm was held a suitcase, Nepgear wondered what was inside, but the thought was quickly diminished.

Nepgear looked down at her outfit ashamedly, seeing how childish it was compared to Uni's. Neptune would constantly tell her that she should be a role model for the other CPU candidates as they have yet to unlock their CPU forms, and to this Nepgear would always respond with a tired moan or a roll of her eyes behind her sister's back.

"Sorry, was just… ya know me." Nepgear had no excuse for herself, disrupting what was essentially a tomb for all those who perished in the destruction of Leanbox.

"I see. This ocean… it never gets any easier to look at, but I can't simply ignore it. This was the doing of my nation. Noire's doing… Vio's doing. I need to remind myself of this place, to remind myself how destructive this world can be." Uni inhaled deeply before turning away for a moment, betraying the very statement she just spoke.

Nepgear, in the hope of lightening the mood, wanted to change the topic quickly. "Hey… that outfit you got. I could've sworn I've seen something like it before."

Uni chuckled as she gripped the armband over her mechanical arm. "I was digging through some old archives only to find some secret files Noire left behind. I thought they'd be important, so I brought Histoire over to crack them open for me… turns out… my sister was a huge cosplayer in her spare time-" Uni nearly choked speaking out those words. Nepgear couldn't tell if Uni was laughing or crying. "She had a bunch of blueprints for outfits she wanted to create, this outfit was the one with the most amount of instructions and details on how to create."

The two were silent for a moment, just as Nepgear was about to speak about Noire, Uni quickly interrupted her.

"Has work been busy for you? I've been having trouble managing our little provisional government back in Lastation. It really isn't easy trying to be in several different places at once. You get this problem back in Planeptune?" Uni wiped away a tear and cleared her throat trying her best to keep her emotions inside.

"Actually, not really. Sis manages to handle most of the work, even when I offer to help her the idiot insist that she does things on her own." Nepgear's teeth started to grit so rough the sound put Uni off edge "She keeps telling me to train with my HDD or help out with Histoire's paperwork, she doesn't want my help but she get's so angry when I leave the country- GOD WHY IS SHE SO FUCKING ANNOYING!?" Nepgear screamed gripping and pulling her own hair.

Uni just stared at Nepgear blankly until Nepgear cooled off. "Sorry, just really needed to get that off my chest." Nepgear stammered as her breath slowly returned to normal.

"Well, Nepgear… at least it sounds like your older sister cares about you." Uni unbuckled the locks on her suitcase and took out its contents, as she did, her words rang harshly through Nepgear's mind. As much as she hated her older sister, she just remembered that she was the only candidate that still had one.

Inside the suitcase was Noire's rapier that doubled as a revolver. "This… this is the same blade Noire used to issue orders to destroy thousands of innocent lives. The destruction of Lowee's basilicom… the destruction of Leanbox… she even nearly killed Neptune with this very blade." Uni gripped the blade tightly with her arm and looked up toward the sea in the distance. She knew what she wanted to do. But she hesitated. No matter how hard she wanted to, she couldn't find the strength to do it.

"I deleted all her cosplay blueprints, I burned every photo I had of her, I threw away anything that reminded me of her, but no matter what I do… this sea is still here. It will always be here."

Just as she was willing to drop the sword, Nepgear grabbed her left arm, at first with a firm grasp, then slowly easing into a soft wrap. "Do it. If it'll drown away the memory you have of her and everything she's done. Then do it."

Uni closed her eyes for a long moment. She remembered being born and seeing Noire at her side. She remembered when she was being bullied at school and how Noire was there to protect her. She remembered when she stepped into Gamindustri for the first time, she remembered all of it.

Upon opening her eyes, all those memories were immediately destroyed by the truth, the truth of what her sister had done. And with the truth unveiled, she screamed and charged her mechanical arm, its pistons and gears fired up, releasing steam and flames. With a loud blast from her elbow, the sword flew into the horizon before emerging into the water, leaving behind a strong ripple against the bloodied sea.

Uni fell to her knees, and Nepgear knelt alongside her. "She's gone now, you don't need to hate her or yourself anymore." Nepgear said softly. Uni looked up at Nepgear with tears in her eyes, without even thinking, she rushed in and kissed her on the lips. She then pulled her close into her chest and held her tightly.

"Don't leave me… okay?" Uni sniffled.

Nepgear chuckled and held onto Uni's hand. "As much as I'd love to be with you all the time… My dumbass sister is probably gonna keep nagging me about how important it is to 'not be too attached' or some bullshit like that. You know what? Fuck that. I'm going to tell her that I'm going to transfer over and help you out handling with Lastation affairs. If she doesn't like it, she can cry about it."

Nepgear transformed into Lilac Heart. "Need a ride home?"

"Well, I don't plan on leaving my bike here, but thank you~" Uni scoffed as she stood herself up.

"Ah! Right yeah… you go do that…" Nepgear had gotten so ahead of herself she forgot that Uni had to have driven herself here on her own.

The two nodded and went their separate ways, returning to their home countries. Uni rode of into the distance, a small speck of hope glistening in her eyes. Nepgear flew toward Planeptune's basilicom, which had tripled in size since the end of the war. As much as she felt confident from the kiss Uni had given her, she still couldn't help but feel intimidated by her sister. She could joke about how much she hated or how badly she wanted to punch her, but deep inside, she knew her sister was an entirely new beast from the sister she knew before the war.

~Planeptune Basilicom, Level: Alpha, Neptune's Chambers~

Nepgear shuddered as she entered her older sister's chambers. Straight from the entrance way was her office, a rather elegant mahogany desk placed dead center after a small series of stairs. Behind the desk was a large office chair with silk cushions. And behind the chair was dozens of files and documents peaking out of an entire hallway of file cabinets, each file being pseudo-digital material compressing exabytes of information. Back on the desk was a deceptively small computer, but upon activating would transform the desk into an entire network of processing and computation machines. Such large amounts of machinery and data would've been impossible to store and manage before the war, but after all of Gamindustri was united under the Planeptunian Federation, scientific progress advanced tenfold.

"Well, can't say she's been doing a bad job of managing the place. Still…" Nepgear turned to the left of the desk, a small open doorway which led to Neptune's bedroom stood there. With a deep breath and a tired sigh, Nepgear entered the room, passing through the share-barrier which blocked all noise and people from either exiting or entering the room, except for a CPU.

Nepgear took her shoes off at the doorway, letting her feet sink into the delicately crafted carpet from synthetic metal dogoo fibers. Every time, without fail, the texture of the carpet took Nepgear off guard, but she continued forward toward where two chairs and a fireplace stood, with Neptune sitting on the right chair.

But before Nepgear could speak about her being in Lastation, something caught her attention, between the two chairs stood a small table, it wasn't any sort of furniture Nepgear had seen before, it looked horribly rusted and burned, a large blemish compared to the refined and elegant nature to the rest of the room.

"Neptune… what is that?"

Nepgear couldn't see Neptune hidden by the large chair she sat on, for a moment, she started to question if she was even sitting there at all. But in a small moment, an arm peeked from the chair and grabbed the book from the burnt table. Nepgear couldn't see it, but she could feel the crisp of the burnt book as Neptune lifted it off the table.

"Mein Kampf" Neptune uttered.

"W-what?" Nepgear tilted her head in confusion from the gibberish her sister just spoke.

"It's German, an old-world language. It translates to 'My Struggle'. The book was written by a dictator during the age the old world, one Adolf Hitler." Although Nepgear couldn't see it, she could sense that her sister was drinking tea, she looked to her left and saw a small package with Vert's signature, inside were cigars and some tea packets.

"Mom was always fascinated by the old world. She would pay adventurers and researchers to explore the old planet and they would return with old devices and books with various knowledge. I never understood much of it as a kid, but I would always see mom reading this book. I didn't think much of it back then but now… I understand why mom did what she did." Neptune set aside her teacup on the table and opened the book. The teacup was also elegant, traced with gold trimmings on its edge, Nepgear assumed it was also a part of Vert's gift.

"It becomes so easy to justify violence and genocide when you're able to trick yourself into viewing the opposition as less than human. With the right mindset and justification, you can view anyone and anything as a mere object. This… Adolf Hitler, do you know what he did Nepgear?"

Nepgear stood silent, she was expecting some garbage lecture about the importance of being organized or some nonsense like that from her sister, she wasn't expecting her to be talking about the old world. "No… I can't say I did know what Adolf Hitler did."

Neptune opened the book as pieces of ash fell from its sides. "His people of interest were the Jews. The collapsing economy, failing education, corrupt government… all of it, he blamed on the Jews. By dehumanizing and targeting a specific group of people Adolf Hitler used the disillusioned and cynical population of Germany to join in arms to fight what he considered the true threat of Europa. The death of millions to justify saving that which you consider important to yourself… sound familiar?" Neptune snapped the book shut and placed it back on the chair.

"You saying Noire was like this Hitler guy?" Nepgear started to grow impatient with Neptune, as much as she was secretly intrigued by the history lesson all she wanted to do was tell Neptune about her moving in with Uni.

"In a way, yes. But I'm not concerned about CPUs, I'm concerned about humanity. In a way, we are merely the culmination of humanity's desire for a goddess, a being to fulfill that which they could not do on their own. But humanity is inherently flawed as a species, this book proves that undoubtedly. And if humanity is flawed then that which it produces and believes in must also be as well." Neptune stood from her chair, and stood up, covering the fireplace. Despite her being silhouetted Nepgear could see what she had become. She no longer wore d-pads or her parka dress anymore. Instead, she wore what seemed to be long black robes which covered her body from neck to toes. Her hair was no longer short and frilly but long and straight. She ended up growing taller, surpassing Nepgear in height merely in her human form. Neptune slowly walked toward Nepgear, the two women standing next to each other yet staring at different ends of the room.

"Adolf Hitler could not have committed genocide on the scale that he did by himself. He needed people who believed in him, people who were willing to dehumanize and destroy others who were in essence no different than they were. Nepgear… I'm not concerned about someone like Noire ever rising again, I'm scared of the people that will follow them. Whoever they are." Nepgear was shaking her head in frustration, but just before she could speak, Neptune revealed her intentions.

"I know you're in love with Uni, and I can already tell you're here because you want to move out from Planeptune and in with her." Nepgear stepped back, aghast in shock but Neptune merely laughed, a fragment of her old self leaking into the new.

"I'm not stupid, Nepgear. Did you think I never saw you sitting so close to her during our basilicom meetings, or how you would always be the first to greet her whenever she visited, or how you would try to sneak messages across our servers using unholy amounts of pointless VPNs or whatever pointless security you tried to conceal yourself with?"

Nepgear looked down ashamedly for a moment, but she wasn't going to let her sister get the better of her. "So? What!? What about the fact that I'm in love with her? You jealous you haven't gotten anyone to love you in years?" Nepgear barked back anger.

Neptune merely chuckled at Nepgear's insult. "No Nepgear, of course I'm not mad about you being in love… that would be horribly hypocritical of me." Neptune lamented as she approached her nightstand with an old picture of her and Blanc outside Lowee's basilicom more than thirty years ago. "Surely you know why I'm concerned about you being in Lastation, right?"

"The riots and general anti-Planeptune sentiment there? That's why I need to go to Lastation, if I can help Uni maybe the public would be put at peace. We can-" Nepgear was quickly interrupted by Neptune.

"Do you know why the people in Lastation are rioting? Nepgear? They hate the fact that Planeptune is in control, they seek independence. Planeptune officials are beaten to near death there. Any citizen who even shows remote sympathy toward Planeptune is immediately exiled by their friends and family. In a way, they are dehumanized, Planeptune's very existence is an affront to theirs. The last thing Lastation needs right now is a CPU candidate from Planeptune interfering with the already heated climate there. Lastation is a matchbox open and ready to ignite at any moment. I'll admit Neptune, I'm scared of Lastation, no different than how I was one year ago. Those people, even though Noire has been gone for so Long I still see her influence within them. And I don't believe I'll ever be able to take that out of them."

"Well, what's your plan then!?" Nepgear shouted.

"Now that's a million-dollar question. If I attempt to respond directly, I'll likely just enrage the more nationalistic population even further. No amount of compromises in laws are going to work, as for public services getting anything approved by the council would be a nightmare considering they aren't exactly fond of Lastation either. So, I've decided to do nothing. Uni will handle it."

"The fuck!?" Nepgear screamed. "You're just going to leave Uni to deal with the chaos going on there!? Not even going to send negotiators or even try to enact some fucking policy?"

"This will be a test for Uni. She's a CPU candidate just like you, if she's expected to manage her country, she should be able to face these kinds of issues without my help, without anyone's help." Neptune picked out a shot glass from a cabinet and poured a glass from the scotch Mina had gifted her years ago.

Nepgear so desperately wanted to punch her sister, to just tackle her and beat into an unconscious pulp. But she knew it would just be a waste of energy. "You know… you're a fucking psychopath…" Nepgear stammered out "At least back then you gave a damn about the world around you… but now… you're just a psychopath! You aren't any different from mom now! God! Fuck! I miss when you were just a lazy idiot!" Nepgear screamed and left the room immediately, heading for Lastation.

"I do too sis… I do too."

Histoire, who was in the chair adjacent to Neptune approached her. "Are you okay Lady Neptune? Are you not going to go after Nepgear?"

"I will… but… I'm not sure if I'm ready." Neptune approached an old painting of Uzume in her room and took it down revealing a safe. Upon entering the code, the safe opened, revealing a Scythe imbued with the soul of CPU Uranus. The same one Noire used to steal her HDD more than a year ago.

"Nepgear… please. Don't make me do this."

~Lastation streets~

With a trench coat packed with s high collar and tinted sunglasses, Uni snuck through the rioting crowds of Lastation in plain sight, walking with her motorbike at her side. The last thing she would need right now is to be spotted. But as much as she was in a rush to get back into the safety of the basilicom. She couldn't help but be dumbstruck by one of the protestors. Atop a makeshift stage was a very young girl in a pink dress. Atop the makeshift stage was a title card reading out the names: Abnes.

"People of Lastation, it has been a year since our nation was unjustly occupied by Planeptune and their dictator Purple Heart! Ever since then we've been subject to their tax laws! Their policing! And the miserable excuse of a CPU that was left behind by our glorious leader! And what have we the people earned in exchange of Planeptune control!? Nothing! Our prices for living and surviving increase, food and medicine becoming evermore unaffordable and what has Planeptune done to solve this crisis!? Nothing! That is why I ask of you my Lastation brothers and sisters! To hell with the taxes and 'protection' they expect us to pay! To hell with the economy which they have forced us to survive through! As long as we the people of Lastation survive and persist, Planeptune will have NO choice but to pull away!"

Uni zipped up her collar and slowly approached the basilicom hoping to not grab attention to herself. But she felt a large tug from behind her, two devious children attempting to mess with her.

"Hey! Lady with the funny jacket!" One child screamed.

"Hey! Join us with all the screaming!" The other yelled excitingly.

"Go away! I'm just trying to get home!" Uni pleaded.

But she couldn't push them away in time as she felt herself tugged back violently, Her sunglasses fell off and her coat was torn open. "Shit!" she screamed to herself as the two boys jumped back.

"Wait… aren't you…" One of the boys put it all together.

"There she is!" Abnes on the stage pointed in the distance. "That's the son of a bitch that has done nothing to protect us from Planeptune!" A large horrific cry was heard all across the city, vehicles and stampedes started to close in on Uni.

"Not good!" Uni hopped onto her bike and sped toward the basilicom, only for a truck to ram into her at the intersection, with such force that would've killed any normal human. Uni limped toward the entrance to the basilicom as the truck drivers and hundreds of other protesters closed in on her.

Before anyone could even grab her, Planeptune soldiers from the basilicom rushed and fired in on the crowd emerging behind Uni, who had just recovered from her crash. It took her moment, but she realized the horror before her. Dozens of citizens were dropping in front of her, and below their corpses rose a sea of blood, reminding Uni of the horror this nation once created.

Uni puked upon seeing the horrific sight and begged for the soldiers behind to cease fire, but it was pointless, the crowd had dispersed entirely. Uni stepped forward over the corpses, hurriedly checking if there was anyone still alive, anyone that still could've been saved. Until she saw two young children, face down in their own blood.

The CPU candidate collapsed to her knees, the pure shock of it all putting her body in nearly a comatose state. "I'm so sorry…" Uni muttered, as she knelt knee deep in the blood of her own citizens.
